Our comment from FitFit Australia about Dandenong Oasis:
Dandenong Oasis is a well-established aquatic facility located in the heart of Dandenong, Australia. The center offers a variety of amenities suitable for families and individuals alike, including:
- 50-Meter Lap Pool: This spacious pool is perfect for swimmers of all levels, always clean and well-maintained, providing a great environment for training and practice.
- Children's Pools: There are dedicated areas designed for younger swimmers, including a shallow pool that features fun water elements, making it an excellent choice for families.
- Spa and Sauna: Although some users noted cleanliness issues, these facilities provide relaxation options after a swim, although they are often crowded.
- Hydrotherapy Pool: Offers therapeutic benefits, although users have reported that it can be overcrowded at times.
- Gym Facilities: Located upstairs, many visitors appreciate the availability of exercise equipment.
Many patrons have praised the friendly and helpful staff, particularly the attentive lifeguards who ensure a safe swimming environment. While the center serves the community with various options at fair prices, several reviews indicate a need for cleanliness improvements and renovations to the facilities. The bathrooms and changing facilities, in particular, have received mixed feedback regarding their upkeep.
Overall, Dandenong Oasis remains a popular choice for those looking for a swimming facility that caters to various needs, but potential visitors should be mindful of its current state and the necessity for some improvements.

Dandenong Oasis: Opinions
Positive experience: Good sized pools, including a 50 metre lap pool, with room on one side for play, a water aerobics pool, a spa, shallow baby/toddler pool, a children's pool that gradually gets to about 4 feet deep. I enjoy bringing my kids to the children's pool, but unfortunately most of it is often roped off for school swimming lessons and it's difficult to find times that we can actually use the pool. Thankfully on the day that it was at its worst and we were only allowed in water a foot or two deep, we were given a gift card for a future visit to make it right. Oasis has lifeguards on regular rotation to make sure they're constantly alert, which I appreciate, since I bring my kids to the pool by myself. They also offer complimentary lockers to keep personal belongings secure, change rooms with toilets and showers, and plenty of parking. I think they also have a gym upstairs, but I don't know anything about that. Hope this helps!
Fantastic experience: Great pool! And local
Negative experience: The instructor of hydrotherapy was unprofessional and treated patients with late 2 minute shame in public without thinking to respect others as humans have feelings and emotions. Also, the reception front was redicolous because I want to register as a member; he needs to delay me and other people who are members first, and I need to wait for all members to finish treating; after that, they can treat me and make me late to attend the class hydrotherapy; I arrived earlier before the class hydrotherapy started. was frustrated with the experience here. When I ask for an apology from the instructor because they are threatening me like an animal, they just give me card access rather than allow me to get an apology from the instructor to show the public that just she did.
Positive experience: Staff are friendly, but the facilities need a bit of love.
Negative experience: Been here a few times and it is not usually kept clean. Came here a bit later in the day and was kicked out after 15 minutes due to closing. When they let us pay (for the full spa & sauna, which cost extra) they told us they were closing in 30 minutes. What they did not tell us was that we would be kicked out in 15 minutes to change. We got 10 minutes in hyrdo pool and not even 1 minute before kicked out of sauna. Although the receptionist we saw when we came in was lovely, we spoke to staff asking for at least a refund of the extra expenses we did not get to use and they said they don't do refunds, they also addressed us quite rudely even though we were polite the whole time. Honestly, just disappointed in this place as a total and will not be supporting this establishment again.
Fantastic experience: Luv the swimming pool and gym
Fantastic experience: Great place , love the gym
Negative experience: Unfortunately I won’t be going there anymore. Hydro Pool is quite overcrowded no matter the time and many people just use it as a place to socialise. I’ve been trying to get into spa, but that’s always hogged by men who again just seem to use it as a place to meet. It’s just not a very inviting place and I feel extremely uncomfortable there.
Negative experience: This facility is tired and in desperate need of an overhaul complete renovation. Parc, Waves, Gesac are all much newer facilities. I’ve recently tried them all out. This one almost needs to be knocked down and rebuilt.
Fantastic experience: Kids had a great time on the Splashzone..staff were very happy and friendly
Fantastic experience: I got used these pool usually when weather ️ is high
Fantastic experience: great place for daily swim
Negative experience: Not perfect everything Sona spa and water everyday problem they are not fix properly for example water one day very hot one day very cold
Fantastic experience: Very clean and very tidy . They have everything under the same roof.Pool, gym, exercise classes, sauna, spa, hydro pool .And they even have a cafe. Staff are very helpful.Truly a amazing experience everytime.
Fantastic experience: It’s an amazing place with everything you needed like gym and swimming.
Positive experience: Nice indoor pools etc
Positive experience: Very pricey for a concession particularly given its council run. I understand the cost is going up but it's not that clean either
Negative experience: This new management is not good at all. Some of reception staff are very rude. The spa pool has not been working for the last 2 weeks. Many things are broken, but they are not interesting to fix
Fantastic experience: Good place for swimming
Fantastic experience: I love this pool but whats with the net on the roof where all the balls get stuck an no slide
Fantastic experience: Nice swimming pool for kids as well as for adults. Includes a gym as well.
Negative experience: This place definitely needs a face-lift, getting a little bit old, Council shold do more around the pool also ,needs new kid play grounds.
Negative experience: I recently noticed some safety concerns in the 50 meter pool. The broken tiles on the edges can be dangerous, especially if someone accidentally hits their head. It's been like this for a few months, and simply putting up a warning sign doesn't solve the problem. Additionally, the shower rooms and pool itself could use some cleaning as it doesn't seem very hygienic. It would be great if the management/council could address these issues for a safer and cleaner swimming experience.
Negative experience: 游泳還可以,但spa一堆沒禮貌的老人可以坐上半天,桑拿只有乾式,看起來也很糟糕,想入會的朋友,請先進去看看才決定
Positive experience: Very good cafe, i bought hot chips
Positive experience: Convenient lot of options from pools, gym, sauna and spa.
Fantastic experience: Excellent places should go to exercise just for a swim a very good workouts gymnasium
Negative experience: They have cancelled the wed aqua fun class, in lew something for women only. Not fair
Negative experience: Very dirty pool, water stinks and the staff are rude kicked out some kids for jumping in the pool and called police
Fantastic experience: Amazing car parking and great facilities, including swimming, table tennis, hockey as well as other sports
Positive experience: Very friendly staff, always smiling. & helpful. Nice place to go
Positive experience: I was there for the swimming pool and i was impressed with the overall setup. There are pools for kids, adults, the aged and the disabled with wheelchair accessible areas and a hoist.
Fantastic experience: I been going here since I was 6 years old it’s amazing experience and staff they are amazing
Positive experience: Smells like they use way less chlorine nowadays than when my kids went way better for my grandkids , very well monitored
Fantastic experience: Great please used to be a member, now casually frequent the centre. Staff are always lovely and helpful, management have always been helpful, nice environment
Negative experience: This is not a good place for woman as you get looked at in a bad way if your by yourself, I was made to feel very uncomfortable as I got groped a couple of times and I told the guards about it and they shrugged it off. I left feeling embarrassed and horrible
Hi Stefany, we’re sorry to hear about your poor experience. The safety of our patrons is of the upmost importance. Could you please email us at [email protected] so that we can investigate this further.
Fantastic experience: Kids enjoyed the 'showers' on the medium sized pool. Wasn't crowded. Pool and change rooms were clean
Fantastic experience: Very well need sports center in the area, has multiple options and has ample parking. The staff is good but can be on and off given who u come across.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and a nice relaxing wellbeing place where you can swim gym enjoy the kids pool have a spa relaxation time or even a hydrotheraphy pool. For those into the sauna you can have time to enjoy that too.
Negative experience: Worse pool in Victoria. Every time something doesn't work, but we have to pay same amount, also is mold everywhere. Please don't go with kids in this place ,high risk to get disease. Should be close this pool.
Negative experience: Creepy old men oasis. Smells weird, bathrooms have black mould and full of old men in the sauna commenting on women who I quote them saying about another women “mumma come to papa and bend over”… I’ve never left a place so fast
Negative experience: I took my daughter twice there & to be honest the changing rooms are horrible, & dirty, water on the ground, not safe for children. Also shower water lasts for seconds. My daughter got all these lumps on her left arm & leg, swimming there. Something should be done about suitable swimwear & not go fully clothed in the water, as it is highly non hygienic. Pls take this into serious consideration.
Positive experience: Dandenong Oasis is a ok public pool with something for everyone. The 50-meter lap pool is perfect for swimmers of all levels, and the kids' pool is a blast for little ones. There's also a spa, sauna, slide, and therapy pool, so you can relax and rejuvenate after your swim. The pool is always clean and well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I especially appreciate the fact that the lifeguards are always vigilant and keep a close eye on all the swimmers. One thing to note is that the men's showers only have cold water. This may be a downside for some people, but it's not a dealbreaker for me as I shower at home. Overall, I recommend Dandenong Oasis to anyone looking for public pool experience. Here's a more detailed breakdown of the different facilities: 50-meter lap pool: The lap pool is great for swimmers of all levels. It's well-maintained and always clean. Kids' pool: The kids' pool is a lot of fun for little ones. It has a variety of water features, including a slide and a waterfall. Spa: The spa is always full of old men but if you can find a time when they aren't their it's probably great place to relax and rejuvenate after your swim. It's spacious and can accommodate up to eight old men. Sauna: The sauna is a great way to warm up and relax, I have never been in but I'm sure its ok. Slide: The slide is a lot of fun for kids of all ages. It's fast and exciting, but safe. Therapy pool: The therapy pool is for people with injuries or disabilities. It's heated and has a variety of features, including a ramp and a lift. Overall, Dandenong Oasis is an old public pool that needs updating. I highly recommend to limit your expectations to
Fantastic experience: We just wanted to say that Huy always is friendly and serves us with a smile and happy to have a chat and looks after the customers very well. He is always helping the battlers and nothing is ever too much trouble.
Fantastic experience: I just re-found this pool. I hadn’t realised there was a 50m pool here. I’ve been twice in the last two days and have loved it. Why? 1. I get a lane to myself. 2. The pool temperature is good . 3. The water is clean (despite the tiling being stained and far from pristine), 4. There are some lovely trees to look out at both sides and the building gets lovely natural light streaming through from lots of windows. 4. Large change rooms (!). It would be perfect if the showers were actually hot. But I’ve swam at a LOT of pools and you can’t have everything. I’m happy
Negative experience: Smelly sauna...shocking!! I've been here a number of times as it is much closer than other swimming pools. Whilst the pool is fine, the sauna is disgusting and I just couldn't stay in it for more than a minute... it feels dirty, grimy and old...the smell was bad and made me feel ill. I wouldn't go back at overwhelming overwhelming on the last visit so much so I almost there Even though this
Positive experience: The bathroom was too dirty and the water in there was too hot. me and my 2 sons had to scream in the shower. if you read my comments. I hope you can adjust the water temperature in the bathroom, please! Other than that, everything is fine. Thank you !
Negative experience: The woman leading the hydrotherapy group class has displayed racist behavior, which is extremely rude and unsettling. I find it puzzling how she was hired for this position in the facility. The facility should address this issue promptly to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
Negative experience: I don’t think this place can even get a 1 star rating but Google won’t allow anything but a 1star as the lowest. The service provided today was disgusting. Refusal of use to hydropool after advice from Physio to do so due to the inability to present paper copy of medical cert. When providing a parental consent and request for a waiver document to be signed, this was also refused. When asked to speak to the physio by calling the business number avail online, still refused. When asked to seek approval from a senior manager of the centre, also refused and provided the standard line of ‘we need a medical certificate’. They don’t even understand why they are requesting such a document and what due diligence is done once obtained? They don’t take records of who enters and exists the pool, they don’t keep a record of the medical cert on file so why is it required? How would this cover the business from any type of negligence (if one existed), if not records are kept? No logical explanation and absolutely no customer experience. Will not be going back and I’d recommend others save yourself the headache and stay clear of this centre. No idea how to service customers and in this day age, good luck keeping returning customers with this type of service.
Hi Helen, we are sorry to hear about your experience today. We have received your message and will arrange for somebody to be in contact with you. Thank you
Negative experience: Seriously poor customer service. Pay for a spa. Spa is not working. So I sit in warm water. I go to reception and enquire whats up with the spa. It’s not working I get told. I say to the youngster, you could have told me when i specifically stated I was here for a spa. He point to two signs on the other sides of the reception desk, which is out of eye sight when you walk in or at the payment point, and says read this. I pointed out that good customer service would be to tell me this before taking my money. He looks at me and says “ that seems reasonable “ and leaves it at that. Pay peanuts - get monkeys !!
Fantastic experience: The staff were friendly...we enjoyed the 25 minutes swimming after a good hard training 23.02.023
Positive experience: The place is nice and friendly, The 50 meter pool is lovely with a big space to swim although it might be abit cold, there is a smaller pool that is much warmer and is for anyone which is nice but isn’t as deep. The Lifeguards are great at their job and really kind. Although the bathrooms needs an upgrade and better hygiene for the amount of people who come here daily.
Fantastic experience: Very nice and full of fun place
Positive experience: Would be perfect if it had an outdoor pool aswell.
Positive experience: The hydrotherapy pool seems to be colder more often than it is hot. A bit disappointing.
Positive experience: Beautiful staff and swimming experience. Needs some maintenance and gardening / weeding and tidying outside.
Positive experience: Good facilities for individuals and families. The family pool could do with some fun things for the kids eg. Standing water guns, fountains and sensory water areas.
Negative experience: This place is really dirty. You can see white stuff floating in kids swimming pool. It had me hugging. The toilets are filth. Honestly haven’t seen anything like it. It needs major works.
Negative experience: Pre-pandemic the place was good value for money albeit a bit run down. Now that prices have increased by 50% I strongly recommend you go to a facility that's more modern but the same price
Negative experience: Worst experience at the oasis swimming pools. A ginger hair life guard was very rude, unprofessional and spoke poorly of my young daughter and insulted her extremely. Will never return here with my family again.
Negative experience: Went here on school holidays and there was nothing set up for kids staff are rude didn’t even swim because new the kids wouldn’t enjoy there day paid for a family pass and they refused to give us a refund as they have a new system and no longer do refunds ( didn’t swim ) horrible experience. Wouldn’t recommend this place
Negative experience: I wish to add another disappointing review, the spa and sauna facilities are filthy, people st in the spa 30 -40 minutes at a time, probable urinate in there. Like the hydro pool most are there for a social time yelling laughing and parting on the sauna is bad many do not use towels to sit on and disturb people that are trying to relax again not monitored. All a cess pool of germs and bacteria . Health department where are you?
Negative experience: The guy at cafe was so fun off his feet, alone and was cookie g as order came in no prepared foods like hot chips n dummies he literally made it after u ask and he couldn't keep up, forgot who's was what and you could tell it need 2 people working in cafe area, I spent so much time waiting for food that I was over it by the time they came I wanted to go home n sit down, buzz kill but the water was nice
Positive experience: We regularly play squash here. 3 glass back courts are not easy to find in South East. I have to commend the staff on the way they handled our multi pack vouchers that expired during the covid shutdown. The court floors could be cleaned a little more regularly if I had to find any fault.
Fantastic experience: Delighted to have found a sauna spa hydrotherapy pool complex in my area. I liked the narrow window from the sauna so you can see how busy it is in the spa pool. Casual price quite good value.
Negative experience: So unfortunately and unprofessional on your behalf. My time wasted, emails, calls in person even when I cancelled the membership in person and it wasn't done properly the calls after that and then it was processed not only that but not credited and make up classes of my child when I contacted the centre to adv he was unwell is appalling from oasis. Now knowing the way you handle situations I will definitely be taking my other children elsewhere for classes.
Negative experience: Went in today to check out the place. Highly concerns for safety hazards. The swim area especially for hydro, spa is a slipping hazards. Disable toilets is a complete nightmare. Door required special skills to lock an ancient wobbly water damaged locks. There is lack of life guards that actually cares. The spa is so poorly maintained that over flows due to small space and congested numbers of members use led to flooding of the floor towards water dispensing unit. The hydro looks like a flooded pond of tadpoles of humans trying to exercise and water temperature suspected below 32 degs Celsius. There is no equipments to loan despite many ymca centres provides in other suburbs. The sauna is a complete safety hazards with lack of minimal safety lighting, poor insulation from door led to cold air gushing under. Congested space and poor heat temperature. Shower rooms both in accessible shower and female change room have many water rots woods, disgusting stains on doors, finger breaking button to press to shower and no water temperature control. Forcing you to bear with hot water at all times. Bench is so damaged is seen to have been probably damaged by termites or rotten back in early 2000. If not intention to even up your safety, atelast fix up rotting plaster boards, benches, and damaged door locks and rusts. Otherwise will hurt the young lifeguards and managers running the place to continue having a decent income due to poor numbers of visit. Unfortunately is a rough place to relax without having someone feet or body parts accidentally touching you when using any of the facility. Good stuff found a stall in shower area that locks works. Please do something and be safe for members to use. Was a shock that I have injury have to assist a disabled person to open the door because there is no buttons or automated door for special needs ppl. Is soo outdated interms of safety and equipments in the pools area.
Negative experience: The manager was absolutely arrogant, have don't know how to deal the customers. We reached the swimming centre half an hour before the lesson and knew that classes are cancelled due to non staffing due to Covid hike. We understand the situation , but they said they notified the parents about it. Unfortunately I didn't get any calls or emails regarding this. When I said this, she said it may be in the message box you may be ignored it. I asked her to check my number, then she said they don't have my number in the system. That's first issue I would like to highlight, Secondly while I was waiting for about 40min. to check another feasible options for us to do another days for these lessons, about 8 families came with kids, they all didn't know the classes were cancelled today. Including us, we all are waiting and wasting time or we could just spend few min. in the pool without the lesson. If the centre don't have the parents phone number, how we can expect the quality of your service. If any matter of the emergency how are you going to contact the parents?
Fantastic experience: The spa and sauna are my favourite.
Fantastic experience: OMG It's been 2 years since we've been to Dandenong Oasis I took my son and two daughters to teach them how to use snorkel and fins so we can go snorkeling at the beach in the future. So much fun
Fantastic experience: Louise is one of the best swimming teacher. I strongly recommend her if someone looking swimming teacher for their kids. All the staff are very friendly and professional. CabMan - Airport Taxi Service | Pickup & Drop Off
Fantastic experience: I m a visitor from India, I have joined swimming pool, must appreciate the way of teaching swimming, cleanliness, staff taking much care...and lifeguards standing in a standby position always.. this is my second visit.. love to post my review here...
Fantastic experience: This place has nice gym, swimming pool and …
Fantastic experience: Getting exercise and having fun at the same time.
Fantastic experience: Water pressure in male showers is too slow. Needs repairs
Fantastic experience: Staff are very friendly and helpful. The establishment always has different/suitable membership plans. Just renewed my membership and I really enjoy being there.
Fantastic experience: Very refreshing. I noticed cleaner's cleaning around the rails as well as a few in the change rooms. Only problem I have is the cashier chopping and changing the entry fee each time I go there.
Fantastic experience: Water so clean
Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience at Dandenong oasis. Staff greet you with warm smiles and are friendly. Public holiday today and the morning swim was still fairly quiet with lifeguards all round. Toddler/infant pool was well heated. Shower was nice and warm too! My 1 year old loved it. :)
Fantastic experience: Good to be back. Went away tried other places . But good to be back at Oasis. Friendly environment
Fantastic experience: Staff are friendly and swimming instructors are great!
Fantastic experience: A good place to allow your kids to utilise all their energy and grow up healthy. Very good and professional staff at the reception. Recommended all patents to bring their kids here to have fun in a supervised and heated swimming pool.
Positive experience: Great place. Large pools with many facilities. Definitely could use some upgrades and a deep cleaning especially in the pools and change room. But, it serves the community well at fair prices.
Positive experience: Nice place for a swim. Front staff were alright. Funny though the staff member who wasn't working at reception was way more friendly and helpful. Lifeguards not nice at all. One just had an angry face on the whole time and upon walking past and greeting her, she just looks away and acts like we don't exist. ♂️
Fantastic experience: The girl brooke is very helpful and was kind to me and my wife. Very good service and help my wife find full body swim suit that made her happy. Everyone talk to brooke.
Fantastic experience: Lovely place can't wait to start using the facilities as of this Friday.
Fantastic experience: Great to be swimming again..staff very friendly and helpful. Nice to see the place looking clean and inviting
Fantastic experience: Great place for a swim
Positive experience: Service great staff friendly and very helpful facilities good
Positive experience: I work out at the gym and it is a nice atmosphere or you can use the swimming pool
Negative experience: Definitely needs a renovation and deep cleaning or better tear it down and build a new one...
Positive experience: No frills pools for all ages, including a toddler pool, heated kids pool and 50m lap pool. Friendly staff, sometimes lax in the cleanliness of the locker rooms.
Negative experience: As a swimming facility - it caters for that purpose as has the basics covered. It has the potential to be a more desired destination for the local community for family fun however this place has lost its appeal over the decades and in need of a refurb. The kid friendly pools are lacklustre, the grounds outside are a missed opportunity. It has a beautiful giant gum tree and could do with a playground that many could enjoy. I hope one day to see this space revitalised.
Negative experience: It is an excellent area for the swimming lessons However the ladies changing room is so unkept, with wet floor, broken faucets and so dirty. Please at least let it be clean.
Negative experience: Took my children there. Paid for all of us including myself to watch my children in the kids pool. Pool wasn't heated as the pumps were broken apparently. I was not informed when I paid. The pool was too cold for the children. Went back to reception and said that the pool isn't heated and the man said the pumps for heating have been down all day. Asked for a refund, which they refused. Argued the point for 5minutes and spoke to manager that the pool isn't heated and children unable to swim, but still refused refund. What a joke of a place, you should be able to report an establishment like this. Unacceptable!
Fantastic experience: Have always loved visiting this swimming pool centre. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The lifesavers are very friendly, professional & helpful. Would recommend this place to all my family and friends
Fantastic experience: Love going to our family swim nighted at the Dandenong oasis...
Fantastic experience: It was relatively quiet which was good. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Old centre but still does the job.
Fantastic experience: My son goes for his Regular swim classes n enjoys it
Fantastic experience: My boy attends swim school here. Great teachers and good local facility. Has everything you need from a Leisure Centre
