Genesis Health and Fitness Edmonton

Negative experience: First time @9.15am Reformer Pilates class. Got there early, no parking. Rushed to park at the street and to find the studio and managed to get at the studio front door 9.15am on the dot. The blond instructor refused me to get in. I was in shock, she ignored me for a while then came to say that I needed to get there earlier. This is how she welcomed me for the first time at this club. I’m a regular in the other clubs but didn’t feel welcome at all at this one. That was so rude (2 empty beds at the studio, she would rather not having me there). Be kinder :)

Fantastic experience: A beautiful place where you can find yourself and relax! A place where you can melt a hard day and stress.

Negative experience: Small gym, worn out equipment which seems odd considering members are charged a twice annual levy to “update and improve” gym equipment and facilities, popular classes like Pilates book out within an hour of the timetables being uploaded, oh and if you suspend your membership, your contract end date is prolonged - just found that out when I went to cancel mine and give my 30 days notice leading up to my contract end date which is now mid July.

Positive experience: It's a small convenient gym, with limited equipment. In saying this, you can achieve the goals that you want as they do have the small essentials needed for that. It is tight when movement comes into play in peak times and a struggle at time to get any machine or rack as there are more people than machines/racks at times. Another issue is Circuits, as customers/trainers will tag out machines/areas with multiple towels/signs so they have exclusive use in peak times, which is extremely frustrating. I attend this gym because it's "convenient" to my needs and my only option for value and price too, further to that its one of two options for the young teenages aswell. If you need a 24-hour gym on the southside, this is your choice in low peak times, is my suggestion. The only negative is that it could have one more machine for quads exercise, as the single machine already is just not enough, especially in peak times. And parking sucks, due to copperload next door. From Wednesday through to Sundays, expect to park way down the road or on the grass with a fence hop to get in.

Fantastic experience: I love my gym! Accepting of all types, all abilities and workouts become workouts with friends. Still don’t like burpees though, lol

Positive experience: Regularly picking up other people's equipment. Machines and equipment usually left with plates on. Toilets on the weekends can be shocking. Weight equipment, especially cable machines are very dated and in need of maintenance/replacement.

Positive experience: Nice gym with potential to be great. The staff were extremely friendly and the gym has a good variety of equipment, this location however is in desperate need of improved air conditioning, new updated equipment and more parking space. I found a lot of the equipment was very old and stiff to move with a lot of the pieces also being rusty. Not a bad spot at all to workout, just in need of a revamp!

Fantastic experience: I have been to lots of gyms in Cairns over the years. So far Southside Genesis tops my list. Its spacious and lots of kit so us serious gym junkies can get stuck in.I notice a big mix of ages , fitness levels etc so all seem comfortable there. A+ super clean and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: I joined in October 2020 initially to do a 6 week challenge. During the challenge I got to experience the magnificent staff and coaches. As I have a significate shoulder injury, I have given the coaches a challenge to give me exercises that don't exacerbate my condition, and I'm very pleased to say they met the challenge. I've now completed 2 six week challenges and am excited to be also doing the 3rd one coming up in May. I recommend South Cairns Gym, they are an amazing group of people.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Genesis since 1998, and I have watched it grow from small to huge. I have had a knee injury and of course Covid happened so I have not been going for three years. I now have started to train again and was very nervous to go, but the gym is still the same even though there has been changes for covid, I had nothing to worry about. It is inclusive no matter what age, size or culture everyone is welcome and that's what I love about Genesis. I don't feel out of place, and if I need help of any kind all I have to do is ask, email or call I feel very supported in my fitness journey.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend the My Zone training at Genesis Southside. I was nervous about starting the classes and my ability to keep up but the coaches Kelly & Lachlan have been fantastic, they are so helpful and encouraging that I'm really enjoying the classes.

They really took the time to understand my goals and got to know what I wanted from my membership.
