Muscle Up Health And Performance Cooee: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Best gym on the coast
Negative experience: If I could give a rating of less than one star, I would. Firstly, there are these divots in the ground which I’m guessing are there from the old bowling lanes, creating a serious hazard. Sometimes your dumbbells would just roll away and if you are really lucky you might even roll your ankle. There’s also no water dispenser and no vending machine with water. Instead, you’re left with filling your water bottle from the bathroom tap, which is just unacceptable for any gym. The changing facilities are another issue. There are two rooms: one large and somewhat acceptable, but if that’s in use, you’re forced into a cramped space that is a converted toilet stall next to the literal toilet stalls. The lighting is on a sensor, which turns off after a few minutes. So, you’ll find yourself in the shower, naked and scrambling to get dry and dressed in the dark, with just one hook for your belongings. The sound system is a joke. With only a few large speakers scattered around, the volume can be overpowering if you’re near one, drowning out your headphones. And when the music randomly stops, you’re left in an awkward silence in a gym setting. Then there’s the sauna—a total disaster. It’s never clean, with only an old rag available for wiping down surfaces. The booking system involves writing your name on a whiteboard, making it easy for someone to erase your reservation. I often found the sauna turned off, and after two months of my membership, it was broken entirely. When I raised these concerns with the staff, I was told that the owner, Anthony, would address them when he gets back from a holiday in Europe. Oh you’re gym is half finished and the play is to go and chill out on the other side of the world? Then there was the poor equipment, poor attitude from staff, dishonest and unclear terms of membership. In summary, I have been a member of various gyms in around Australia over the past 10 years and this is the laziest most unprofessional gym of the lot, absolute disregard for fee paying members. If you’re in Burnie and looking for a place to work out, save your time and money—there are far better options available ie. TSD, Zap, Anytime and Health Glow

Fantastic experience: If you're starting at the gym for the first time or getting back into it again, I couldn't recommend Muscle Up enough. Anthony and the team are friendly, welcoming and will always go out of their way to help anyway they can. They have a huge range of equipment and the gym is always clean & tidy!
