Fitness Connection: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Like many people, I was not into Gyms. Several heart operations and being told that I needed to exercise, I attended a presentation by Kim of Fitness Connection and was impressed. Since that time, almost 12 years ago, I have been a regular to the Fitness Connection Gym. Peta, a graduate Exercise Physiologist, has monitored me for most of this period and she is a most conscientious and caring person. On the job, no nonsense and treats me an individual. If you have any thoughts about improving your health and fitness, I thoroughly recommend Fitness Connection. Kim and Peta are nice people. They will look after you, organize and supervise a program that suits your needs.
Fantastic experience: Special thanks to Kim and Peta who make my time at this gym both enjoyable and fun.Its a joy to go the gym knowing it has a family atmosphere and we have plenty of laughs.Help with your work outs is readily given. All the clients are treated equally .Great place to workout. Many thanks
Fantastic experience: Fitness Connection is the perfect small size local gym. It's holds to its personal intimate values rather than the glam of the big branded shops.
Fantastic experience: I have noticed a huge change since attending fitness connection and my energy level and outlook on life is more positive the exercises are easy to do but really do make a difference in the way i look and feel Peta is a great instructor and Kym is great as a manger i like it because there is a lot of over 60 s and DVA clients go so you feel like you fit in i would highly recomend this exercise programme i attend twice a week Marilyn Waddington
Fantastic experience: I have been attending Fitness Connection 3days a week doing Exercise physiology with a fully trained and certified instructor for some years under a DVA referral. My health and flexibility has been vastly improved and maintained during this time and I would highly recommend it to anybody with health goals in mind.
Negative experience: Small gym that relocated down the road recently. They have the very basics, but no squat rack (not enough room). I was offered a 6 months contract (As it was far cheaper) otherwise it's $25 a week? That's around $100 a month if not on a contract. An absolute rip off for a transient area such as where they are located. I asked her why there is a contract and what I am bound to. She looked confused and just said "That's just the way it is" which I found to be a very lazy and thoughtless thing to say. I rate this place 1 Star because I hate businesses not being transparent about why they run how they do. She had absolutely zero explanation why a 6 month contract benefits me at all. I don't think any gym should put people on contracts unless they are paying something off. We're not paying anything off and we owe you nothing. We pay for use of your equipment, why should we be contracted to your company? Contracts for not paying things off is a load of garbage to lock people in so they can get your money. This is very obvious. But at least with the big gyms you get extras like group fitness sessions, showers, training and often many more perks. Those are things that you could say you are paying for... I guess? They know most people won't use these extras, which is why they can offer it to everyone so easily and is why their contracts have SOME legitimacy. I found out later that you get a key to access it 24/7 if you're on a contract. She didn't tell me that when I asked. 6 months contract so you can go at night time or when they are not there. I don't think there are any showers or anything. The building is far too small, like a large bedroom or small granny flat. It was obviously too hard for the woman to be asked a question about her business. I'm not interested in you getting offended because I didn't want to be on a 6 months contract. I did get the typically fake friendly goodbye when I left. Maybe I was upset because they wanted me to sign up to a gym for 6 months and the place looks straight out of the 80s or 90s. The carpet is disgustingly old and dry with a brown tinge that I can almost guarantee is dead skin, sweat and general gunk and dirt. I believe they ripped it from their old building which was already old and feral and put it in their new building. It's like they moved everything, including stains... It's really not very nice! I think it's time to throw out those old filth mats so people aren't puffing up old dead skin cells into all their skin pores. YUUUK!!! The business is now located more towards Broadwater near the Pharmacy and Pizza Face. If you are here for more than 6 months and want a small gym with the basics so you're not hanging around with hotheads then this place might be okay.... It's just dirty and the woman who seems to be the owner isn't very professional at all. Their older building looked abandoned. It wasn't the building which was the issue, it was their lack of overall presentation of the property which made it look abandoned. The windows were dirty. The signage was awful. You had to call up to even see the inside of the building because there was no staff. I believe the older man might be a good trainer as he's more buff than his uniform lets on and I heard him talk about legs with a client. He seemed friendly when I walked in and managed to greet me while being polite to his client. It's just a pity the business owner was so close minded about giving me something to go by before I potentially move. This isn't a huge gym with heaps of facilities yet I was given the price of one! Stupidly small gym to have such an excessive non contract price scheme! Replace the carpets, apply a vinyl treatment, paint the walls a nicer colour which doesn't feel like an abandoned office from 20 years ago and have a proper price scheme that you advertise on a board and your website rather than just making up prices on the spot. There's no pricing on their website so maybe everyone gets a different price each?
