PCYC Newcastle: Opinions
Fantastic experience: 10/10 good toilet to block, would block again
Negative experience: Disappointing experience with both admin and coaching. My daughter attended for nearly two years, but in her final year made zero progress through the awards system. Coaches were inconsistent—she'd pass a skill one term, only to be told she hadn’t the next. She kept repeating the same things weekly with no clear support or guidance, and when she asked how to improve, was told it could take two years to pass—completely discouraging for a 7-year-old. The payment system is also a mess. I refused to give my card details on paper as requested, paying upfront each term instead, yet somehow they charged me anyway—twice for the same fee, in different years. After lots of back and forth, they “fixed” it, only for it to happen again. I’ve since pulled my daughter out. I do not recommend PCYC.
Fantastic experience: The table tennis at Newcastle PCYC is amazing - for anyone considering it, just try it. I've gone to almost every session since the first one I went to - it's just so much fun.
Negative experience: Be warned that these guys will continue to direct debit your account up to a month after ceasing attendance for gymnastics. We didn't have a great experience, with the teachers regularly threatening to call the kids parents. We've never had an issue before at netball, dancing or soccer with behaviour. The kids words were "it's not fun". I called and tried to negotiate with them they didn't even bother to ask why we were leaving. They just read the contract rule book like robots. Considering they have a waiting list to get in, I can't imagine why they need to continue charging people so long after they cease attending. It's a blatant cash grab. Avoid this place
Fantastic experience: Table Tennis Club is high quality and is a very welcoming community!
Negative experience: Table tennis venue is set up great with plenty of tables. But the times are strict and only on Monday or Wednesday and a couple of hours on Saturday. If your not available those times, then bad luck and even though they have plenty of great tables that are paid for by the help of your fees, you can't just go in on an off day for a practice hit with a friend, even if the hall is vacant. So if you are a keen player, or aspiring young person, looking to practice everyday, who doesn't have room for a table at home, then you probably aren't going to get very good at it. It's a great sport and the powers that be, need to lighten up, be more flexible with times and equipment and make it a bit more available for everyone that pays. We don't all have the good fortune of being able to play at home.
Hi Anthony, thanks for your feedback. We are sorry you did not have a good experience at PCYC. We do have regular groups that come in that book the tables as a part of a regular program. They do however give up the space for school groups that come into the club. We continually try to satisfy and support as many of our members as possible. Thanks
Fantastic experience: My kids have started boxing PCYC Broadmeadow they love it,lots of exercise, good disipline and they have an awesome coach I highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Definetly closed on Easter Mondays
Fantastic experience: Great place and safe place for young people to get involved with so much positive activities. Great hub for the Community :-)
Negative experience: The venue is OK. But bloody expensive.
