Negative experience: If I could give this business 0 stars I would. Coomera location was “operational” for not even 2 years. In that time, the owners paid no attention to this location, equipment was never maintained or replaced when needed, staff were constantly not paid, gym was shut and repossessed by the land lord for a multitude of reasons, twice. Membership fees continued to be deducted while the owners were MIA flying helicopters. Coomera has now been shut indefinitely due to unknown reasons. All members are still awaiting refunds of comp fees, merch fees and membership fees. The owners are the most dishonest people I have ever had the unfortunate opportunity of meeting. They DO NOT care about their community members. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM

Fantastic experience: Dropped in for a one off session from Newcastle. Only here for the weekend. Great group of people, very friendly. I would definitely recommend to others & I’ll be back for sure. Loved it. Thanks Urban Energy

Negative experience: The members there are great but the management and management style are the complete opposite. A huge lack of transparency and honesty with what’s happening with the gym. When questions are asked, they dance around the issue and give a vague answer that can be interpreted in many different ways without stating a straightforward response. It seems they don’t like it when further questions are asked or when clarification is requested to the point where they end up just cancelling memberships rather than providing an answer or having an adult conversation. Until there are some major changes, don’t waste ya time or money.

Fantastic experience: I’ve have nothing but a positive experience at this gym and with these owners. I have worked in 6 CrossFit gyms across the country and attended drop ins and weekly visits at many more. The staff are helpful, the coaching pretty good the community is friendly and welcoming. It’s everything you want in a CrossFit box

Negative experience: Disgusting service

Negative experience: When it comes to the Vanzs, this doesn’t surprise me. At Southport gym, they also used to delay payments without any prior communication or don’t pay. In fact, they still owe me $1320.00 dollars. The owner acknowledged that he knew he owed me, but he refused to pay, citing that we had an agreement for a cash in hand, and I couldn’t prove that he owed me. I have all the messages and bank transactions to prove it! Very dishonest people!

Negative experience: CFUE owners Van Zyl’s believe they have created the community at Coomera but that couldn’t be more far from the truth. They have had minimal interaction with Coomera members, the facility and treat their members and staff (coaches and creche workers) unfairly (don’t pay them on time and do not communicate with them properly). Coomera property was recently seized by the landlord and closed for two weeks with the power and water being turned off. The lease was then terminated due to unpaid Rent (despite members still being direct debited). The members were made to believe it was an “unforeseen circumstance.” They “believe in fostering an environment where all members feel comfortable to express opinions freely” as long as it doesn’t tarnish their name or hold them accountable for the narrative they create and manipulate others to believe. Members from their community pages have been removed and memberships have in turn been cancelled, due to speaking up and seeking the truth as well as asking clarifying questions. In addition, they have also cancelled more memberships when others have asked why those particular members have been removed and why those comments were deleted. Then sent the exact same email of “memberships being cancelled effective immediately” to multiple people with no real examples or context provided. People who have said nothing have had their memberships cancelled and have also been removed from membership pages. When people have asked for memberships to be put on hold, they have then asked “why”. Or they’ve been “mistakenly” removed from membership pages. They do not represent the CrossFit community well which maybe because they are operating as an affiliate despite not having any CF Level 1 credentials. Do not waste your time or money.

Negative experience: CFUE Coomera I was a foundation member and was really excited to check this place out. It started off great and it felt like the owner’s and their family cared about helping every individual get better but the vibe completely dropped when the Van Zyl’s took on full ownership a few months after it opening. I am yet to check out the new box where the other owners had opened up but it’s all the way in Burleigh, they were absolutely lovely and literally felt like a family. At CFUE Coomera Creche is located upstairs and is dangerous with a massive open hole in the wall which still hasn’t been fixed. If you use creche and your child likes to climb you will see for yourself how dangerous it is. The gym closed down without any explanation and while still taking money from accounts for two weeks. The landlord left a notice and THAT was how members were notified the gym wasn’t open due to rent not being paid. Foundation members have had their Membership’s canceled without any warning or prior communications because they asked valid questions relating to the shut down. They were also removed from the group and comments deleted which was very unprofessional While attending the sessions It’s quite apparent the new owners don’t care about the members as you will only see one of them, despite their social media showing they both train constantly but only at the Southport Box. High employee turnover rate which probably says enough. Lack of communication and compassion for their members. If you aren’t a CrossFit superstar I wouldn’t bother because you will get no attention here from the owners and will literally not be filmed during their classes, it was disappointing to see that there were such different care factors based solely on your skill level. Their main focus seems to be only on those that can represent them at Torian Pro. It’s extremely disappointing that they can segregate paying members this way. While I never usually do reviews, I did think that there have been too many questionable incidents and that a review was necessary. There are better places to work out and train in this area where the owners genuinely care and have respect for their individual members and hopefully a better and more welcoming i can confirm I won’t return back to CFUE after all of this.

Fantastic experience: Signed up to get fit, stayed for the community. BEST GYM EVER! Hands down no competition. The gym feels like a giant supportive family! The coaches are incredibly knowledgable and committed to supporting you to achieve your goals. The members are incredibly supportive, there is no judgement, no negativity, just a group of great people wanting to build on their fitness, create new friendships and have a great time.

Fantastic experience: Great crossfit community, supportive, encouraging, great staff, genuine people who all work hard at all levels of fitness. The programming is awesome!!! Have only been in this community for three weeks and so grateful I joinned I came from another crossfit styled gym where I was there for 3 years and I feel coming to urban crossfit not only compliments but has advanced my crossfit knowledge base and skills. Highly recommend it
