Fantastic experience: Great service. Went there today using Fitness Passport. Very Friendly.

Negative experience: I have been a long time gym goer, and recently spent a year travelling, working, and gyming in different towns across Australia. During this time I have never once been intimidated or harassed at a gym. However during my time at Challenge Fitness (Gold’s Gym) the owner would linger around waiting for an opportunity to disrupt my workouts and provide constructive criticism. I was originally thankful and open to this, however over time I began to feel scrutinised and belittled. This occurred almost daily and I started to feel anxious about attending and lifting at the gym. While constructive criticism can be helpful, it depends on the intent, delivery, relationship, and context. I hope sharing my experience can encourage a more supportive atmosphere one where constructive criticism is delivered in a respectful manner.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym & the people in it! The owner Scotty is awesome & understands how the body works. He is supported by friendly staff who always greet you with a smile! Everyone that goes to challenge is super friendly & supportive which is huge for me, because I’d never been to the gym before & was scared before joining. I'm so grateful for my little challenge family

Fantastic experience: Visited here a couple of months ago whilst I stayed in the area for a few days. The staff were super helpful in giving us access keys to train early in the morning, super helpful when you’re away from routine & can at least sustain your training. The gym itself is big, an array of free weights, benches, barbells, racks, pin / plate loaded machines & other rooms for classes / group PT. Great gym, will definitely come back whenever I’m in the area.

Fantastic experience: since the time i join challenge fitness my health has totally change to 80%.just over 2 years ago i went for cancer treatment for prostate,i was not happy with myself due to my weight after radiation,challange fitness show me the way and support from scott. today i have loss 18 kilos , challenge team are super great,i always ask questions to them on how to use any equipments and always i get answers.thank challange team for looking after me.keep up the great work

Positive experience: Awesome gym!! Great atmosphere only problem I have is finding plates for bars I wish they were a bit more sorted for certain stations but everything else is great!!

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to this gym for a few years and have been very happy with their service (scotty is ace). I now even more happier with their newly installed equipment. Everything is brand new and shiny. If you're looking for a modern, friendly gym then I can highly recommend Challenge.

I have felt so welcomed no question is silly. And the crèche is amazing for people with children my daughter loves it that much she wants to stay. I would highly recommend this gym

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. It's so clean and has a huge range of equipment. Not to mention the staff are lovely. It's the small touches, like today in the bathroom there was a useful box of goodies to use post workout when you have forgotten your own things. Would definitely recommend

Negative experience: Joined for the 10 days for $10, was very anxious going into a new gym I've never been before the lovely receptionist showed me around and then left me to start my session. I got half way through my first set and had the owner come over interrupted me and told me to use the machine not cables. I had cables in my program and if I wanted to use a machine I would of. Definitely wasn't happy with being interrupted mid set was highly embarrassed and I left. Never will I return again.

Fantastic experience: Best gym ever! I attend Elle’s Xfit classes and I am now at the best fitness I have ever been. Elle and the Challenge fitness team’s encouragement is amazing. The crèche staff are fantastic (Arnyaah, Emily, Angel, Liz and the others) and my girls just love going there. I will be a life long member.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I are new to Port Macquarie and we needed to find a gym we would be comfortable in, I.e. culture, type of people, etc. We believe people makes places & Scott and his team have made us very welcome and helped us a lot. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff team are professional and knowledgeable and there with no oversized egos. Thanks lots guys.

Fantastic experience: What a gym!! The trainers have so much knowledge and are so friendly and welcoming. The members are non-judgemental and friendly... The creche ladies are phenomenal... my kids absolutely love coming here and without this service I'd be a crazy lady It feels like visiting family every time i attend. It's a total vibe!!

Fantastic experience: I really love how you can go in to 1 room and Do a virtual class, another room you can do your CrossFit, workout with all equipment in there, sled in another room and great gym equipment. Heaps of room and cardio equipment. Had a great workout!

Fantastic experience: Came up to Port for a holiday and needed a gym to keep up my fitness. The owner was lovely, took the time to show me around, and was very personable. It was during COVID-19 time. There was disinfectant wipes and sprays available that everyone was using. Great place to train as long as you put in the hard work!

Negative experience: Prolonged the time for me to cancel the contract (due to moving states) to keep taking money from me weekly, despite my agreement to pay a cancellation fee. Were also rude to me, stating that it was my fault and was ignoring the texts they sent... which they never actually sent. Equipment was also dirty, greasy and not maintained. Offered no help to show the use of equipment. Only interested in money and themselves, don't recommend it.

Negative experience: I was a loyal member for two years. When I moved a way and cancelled my membership they, did not process it for six months and I was charged fees in that time. I work at a gym and I know customer experience and how cancellations work with debit companies. This was completely unprofessional. In addition, they stopped replying to my emails about it. I will not be supporting them in the future.

Negative experience: The equipment is filthy (your hands smell of grease once you have finished using it), there is no area for stretching (the most important part of the workout), and the staff will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to sign a contract. Unethical business practices.

Negative experience: DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT. Very disappointed. The contracts have an early termination clause in which allows the facility to agree to terminate early. I contacted the gym to ask if they would show a sign of goodwill and terminate my contract due to my circumstances, I recieved a response telling me my 12 month contract was actually a 36 month contract so I had to pay it. When I probed further I recieved this message from them 'I’m so sorry but I didn’t sign a 12 month contract you did' - with a new gym in town it is not wise to be treating your customers like this. I'm disgusted.

Negative experience: Range of equipment. Self service. Not much help Re using equipment so damaged shoulder. Young owner more interested in his own body than clients. Don’t honour promise if need time out so don’t sign any contracts. Pity as older owners nice people. Large space.
