Fantastic experience: My 11 year old son has been attending Blackburn Karate Club for the past three years, and it is clear that Richard and the other instructors dedicate immense time and effort to ensuring each student develops their skills. Through well-organised grading sessions and competitions, they foster growth in a supportive yet disciplined environment. As a Japanese parent, I truly appreciate how Richard upholds the traditional standards of martial arts while nurturing each student’s mind, spirit, and physical strength. My son deeply values Richard’s guidance and attention to detail, which have been instrumental in building his confidence and skills. Blackburn Karate Club provides a fantastic space for children and young adults to develop mental resilience and physical well-being. We are sincerely grateful to Richard and his team for their professionalism and care, and my son looks forward to continuing his practice in the coming years.

Fantastic experience: My son has been training at this club for 3 years and has loved every minute of it. Richard and his team are the perfect example of the highest quality in expertise in their knowledge and instruction, and also in their professionalism in the way they organise their business. Communication is ALWAYS clear and timely and there are wonderful opportunities for students to enter competitions. Belt gradings and competitions are so professionally organised and well run on the day. Richard's energy and passion for the art sets such a great example to the students, and he is a wonderful mentor to them. We couldn't recommend Blackburn Karate Club highly enough.

Fantastic experience: As a partner club, we've been lucky to be able to train with some of the Blackburn instructors through zoom during the covid restrictions. Having the benefit of gaining knowledge from multiple instructors from multiple clubs is a great situation to be in. Their dedication and commitment to providing ongoing support and training has been amazing during these uncertain times. Their knowledge and professionalism shine through in their lessons, with an ability to make the sessions fun and enjoyable for myself and my kids. Highly recommend the club and instructors for anyone in the area.

Fantastic experience: My son and I first started at Blackburn karate club 6 years ago. It has become a central part of my life and I am now down there 5-6 days a week. I can't overemphasise how important it has become to me. Sensei Richard and the team of instructors have made this club a huge part of the local community. That can only come through professionalism, hard work, respect and inclusiveness. There are a large range of classes from beginner to advanced for both children and adults. The community aspect is particularly evident when a new student starts. Both the instructors and fellow students will go out of their way to make them feel welcome, because we genuinely want to share what this club means to us. There is no doubt both my son and I have significantly benefited both mentally and physically from being part of the club. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: It is the people who come and train day in day out year in year out that make this club what it is. A full time karate club for 30 years with many student who were here at the beginning still training to this day. Sensei Richard is an extremely knowledgeable instructor who also represented Australia numerous times and has a lot of time for those who want to better their skills. Great club for all ages the kids have a great time and learn valuable life skills.

Negative experience: Just be careful with the reviews from this centre. I attended this club with my two children and it was fine for a while and then there training was all over the place with instructors challenging each other over what was right. Very expensive they get you in and then charge all these other fees. Proceed with caution!

Fantastic experience: This is a great outlet for our son. He had to change karate schools (due to moving) and Richard was great at putting him at his correct level. The teachers are supportive whilst also challenging the kids to be their best.

Fantastic experience: Not enough stars show how highly I rate Blackburn Karate Club. My wife and I have trained at the club now for 3.5 years and counting and I have enjoyed every aspect of my training. We started in October in 2016 after trying 2 other dojos and have never looked back. The club has a great culture. Everyone at the club is friendly. I have made some great friends from the club training through the belts : ) The instructors are experienced, knowledgeable and highly skilled. They cater for different learning speeds but the system works really well even for a complete novice. We started completely from scratch when we were white belts and now we are competing at state level competition!!! I think the reason why I enjoy karate so much is because the club teaches it in a way that is fun, is not pressuring yet at the same time it's challenging and I am always feeling like I'm improving. In addition to learning martial arts and self defense, I am fitter and I feel more grounded as a person. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Blackburn karate has become a second home for me. Been training for over 3 years and have improved my own self defence, social aspect and quality of life. Richard and the crew have instructed, trained and guided me through the belts and knowledge of karate showing me skills and fitness routines I didn't know I could do. Fantastic experience: Love this club! My husband and I have been training here for 3 years now. The instructors are knowledgeable and very passionate about teaching karate. Many of their students (kids and adults) have been training here for 10+ years, which is a testament to the club's inclusive culture. The club truly has a warm, family atmosphere. Whilst still instills great karate and self defense skills. I'm very thankful we found this club. Honestly has been life changing for both my husband and I.

Negative experience: Participated in there classes prior to the lockdown at the club and done some online classes. Found the head instructor does not think about reason for techniques but more interested In jumping around and throwing arms and legs around.
