The Project is a collective of like-minded people, coming together to prioritise long-term health and fitness in our daily lives and have fun at the same time. Some of us are athletes, some of us squeeze in sessions around school drop-offs and 9-to-5s, but we all have one thing in common: we care about our health. 

Health isn’t about summer bodies or 6-week challenges. It’s about empowering people to be physically and mentally capable of doing the things that are important to them. We remove the traditional barriers, so it’s easy for you to show up, get fit, and take charge of your health for the long run – whether you haven’t run since high school or you’re training for your fifth marathon.

We know from many years of work that the best way to train for results, while keeping people safe and motivated, is group training with a holistic and scientific approach. Regular gyms are impersonal and lack vital guidance, personal trainers are expensive and lack community support. While group training is a great alternative, it often means losing out on the benefits of gyms or one-on-one sessions. At The Project we’ve identified the most important elements and combined them into one space. 

With multiple strength and cardio sessions running simultaneously in dedicated spaces, you can choose (with guidance) what works best for you. These sessions change every day with new programs developed all the time.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym! The strength and conditioning programs are effective (and fun!) and incorporate a huge range of equipment and free weights, plus there’s a running club, running workshops, hiking opportunities, body composition scans, social events, and much more. There’s a strong focus on technique, results, and building skills at the gym. Dan, the owner, is an amazing trainer, brimming with knowledge, experience, advice, and words of wisdom and encouragement. Great community, supportive environment, good vibes, and an all-round good time. I highly recommend The Project.

Fantastic experience: I've been training at the Project for over a year now since moving back to the west - I can't rate Dan, owner and trainer, and the Project itself highly enough - Dan's approach to training is superb - the Project focuses on group Strength and Conditioning classes, with one of each running concurrently during each hourly timeslot. All programs are well thought and planned so that you can mix things up through the week - Dan has prepared program pathways to support your preferred area of focus. As someone who has moved from regular PT sessions but struggled to find the motivation to attend the gym otherwise, this is a brilliant step - scheduled classes to help with commitment, ability to drive individual progress with Dan's help (the level of attention he is able to give each client in a group setting is impressive), and with a friendly community spirit and good tunes, I'd highly recommend it to anyone in the area. As extra motivation to attend in the morning, Dan also makes a mean flat white...

Fantastic experience: I had been happily training at another gym for years and then it didn't survive the covid financial hit. Literally looked for a solid year for a new gym, tried so many places and could just never find the right fit. Trying to find a gym where the coaches really know their stuff shouldn't be so hard, but it really is. As soon as I found The Project, I knew I'd found the one. Dan, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and takes the time to get to know and help every member. The programming is exceptional, and there are so many ways to tailor the offerings to your own goals. It doesn't matter if you're uber fit or completely unco (like me!), you won't feel out of place here and will quickly make progress. Can't recommend the place highly enough.

Fantastic experience: The best gym in the West. Great balance between group fitness and achieving personal goals. Dan the owner is probably the most knowledgeable trainer I have ever met, but what sets him apart is his approch to training and the atmosphere he has created in the gym. He always has time to help clients, and has a strong focus on technique and form, meaning less chance of getting injured. Every day is different, and Programs are rotated every 5-6 weeks, meaning you will develop technique in a wide range of exercises and not get bored! There are daily strength and cardio sessions morning and night, and the classes are suitable for all levels of fitness. The icing on the cake - there is a coffee machine!

Fantastic experience: I moved to the project from another local gym last year. Love the flexibility of early morning classes run hourly every day and the beautiful training environment and equipment. Dan is a superstar who made me feel welcome from day 1.

Fantastic experience: Not your average joe gym! Your choice of cardio or strength based, but a guaranteed sweat sess either way. Dan is friendly, welcoming and knowledgable, ready to push you when you need a push, works with you on your goals, and has built a community under The Project banner. Friday night drinks and Big Team Saturdays are not to be missed.

Fantastic experience: I have tried a bunch of different gyms over the years but The Project is definitely my favourite. It's the perfect balance between personal training and group fitness and is the only gym I have ever gotten up at 5am for! Would recommend it to anyone searching for a gym in the area.

Fantastic experience: Been coming for over a month and can't recommend it more for both newer and more experienced people. From years sitting in front of a computer, I basically started my fitness journey from scratch and Dan's advice has been priceless by taking me through the various exercises step-by-step. Plus with more than enough equipment for everyone, you don't have to wait for anything to free up and can focus on what you're doing for the whole class. That's not even touching upon the sense of community and how nice everyone is. Give the trial a go and see for yourself!

Fantastic experience: Have been training at the Project for years now and wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Dan has supported me through my recent pregnancy and postpartum fitness journey and I love how I can access the space during open hours with bub in tow to get my training in. There are so many cardio classes on rotation that you never get bored, and the strength program and facilities are amazing. Something for everyone regardless of fitness level.

Fantastic experience: The project is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been to. Dan is so knowledgeable and friendly, and the gym has a comfortable community culture. The music and the indirect lighting is a pleasure after going to over lit, trance party gyms. Between the class range and support I honestly couldn’t ask for anything else.

Fantastic experience: I joined The Project after one of the earlier lock downs because I was desperate to regain some fitness, and it seemed to hit that sweet spot between personal training and group classes. What a revelation! I get cranky if I don’t get my gym time in now (and I’ve never been particularly gym junkie inclined before). Dan’s method encourages body awareness and good technique. The sense of community is strong and inviting. I have never been so consistent attending the gym in my life. I highly, highly recommend that you check The Project out.

Fantastic experience: How have I not know about The Project before!?! Excellent gym that takes fitness seriously but in a positive, inclusive and friendly environment. Dan is passionate about technique and tailors strength and cardio based programs on a weekly basis. I used to be with a big name brand and have also tried other local clubs but this is the one for me. I feel supported and know I’ll get a lot of of this gym community. The space is #chefskiss in a high ceiling brick warehouse. The equipment is functional and well maintained. And there’s an excellent coffee machine at the front to enjoy a caffeine hit with your new gym buddies. What are you waiting for? Just join.

Fantastic experience: Great gym central to Yarraville area. easy as its close to work for me, Dan the owner is a great PT very helpful, big on using correct form to stop injury which i love. overall super happy i found the place as all of the members are welcoming and easy to get along with. you go there and do the prescribed workouts with in person support you dont have to think about what exercise is next its all written on a big flashing board with a timer.

Fantastic experience: I really don't like the standard gyms but i really love this one as it dares to be different. The concept is that you rock up and choose between a Strength or Cardio/Endurance session which is set out for you. So no need to think which is awesome. P.s There are set times but if you rock up mid way through, the Trainer aka Dan will still be able to adjust a workout for you. I think the standout for me is that Dan is really passionate about what he does and is always making sure you have good form so you are moving with "purpose". He has a great way of simplifying things to make awkward exercises (which is every single exercise when you start...), feel more natural so that you are working the right muscles eg "Push like you are crushing a can". Also, bonus points for all the little puppies and dogs running around....makes for a more fun workout.

Fantastic experience: There really is nowhere quite like The Project. Each session offers either strength/ conditioning or cardio. You just get to rock up and choose what you feel like doing. Each and every day is different, however, equally challenging and rewarding. Dan is an absolute legend who is passionate, patient, so knowlegeable and meticulous when it comes to form. Added bonus, there is always at least one dog at every session. Come and train with us - you won’t regret it!

Fantastic experience: Great facilities, great atmosphere and most importantly a 5-star workout. The group training model really pushes you and Dan ensures there is variety in the exercises to keep it interesting. Can't rate this place higher.

Fantastic experience: I love The Project! I've always really loved exercise and the project makes it super accessible, fun and makes turning up long term really easy. If you have trouble with just turning up, you should come to the project, sometimes I just turn up by accident. Also Dan has pretty decent taste in music so if you want to do AMRAP to sandstorm you're in the right place.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I’ve been to. Love that there is >1 workout option in each timeslot. You can be as relaxed or as hardcore as you want to be. Sessions are suitable for all levels. The tunes are also fab!

Fantastic experience: Amazing trainer who is always dedicated and determined to help achieve your goals.The location is easily accessible, great indoor space during winter and has pretty much all the equipment you need, from squat racks to wall balls and battle ropes to dumb bells.Affordable pricing too!
