Fantastic experience: My daughter was the first to start BJJ at SJJA Brookvale some 5 years ago under Professor Fabio, soon followed by my son a few months later. Straight away the SJJA Brookvale team were so kid and family friendly it was great to be part of the club. Professor Rav ran great Saturday morning classes and both our kids enjoyed it so much. Since then both my wife and I also started our BJJ journey under Professor Pablo who was a great help to us all. It is a great club and is simply an extension of our family. Now under Professor Fernando, we are happy to continue as a BJJ family under amazing guidance. It is a safe environment and would encourage anyone who wants to give it a go to just get on the mat. Great staff, great students, great environment and a great club. Would thoroughly recommend it. Oss!

Fantastic experience: SJJA Brookvale is a top tier BJJ Academy with friendly and knowledgeable instructors. The thing I love most is family friendly, community vibe. The kids programs are world class and they teach the kids in a fun and engaging way, but also include key elements of martial art training, like confidence, discipline and self defence. The women’s team is super impressive as well, it’s really an academy where the whole family can train under one roof. 5 stars for sure!

Fantastic experience: SJJA Brookvale is one of the best BJJ centers in Northern beaches. My son has been attending 3 to 4 times weekly for the past year and half and I've seen a real transformation in his skills, physical body and confidence. The coaches, Pablo and the co-coaches, are precise, firm, and friendly. They take the time to teach each student individually and make sure they are getting the most out of their training. The atmosphere at the gym is very welcoming and respectful. More advanced kids are always willing to help out the newcomers, and there is a real sense of community among the students. I highly recommend SJJA Brookvale to anyone looking to learn BJJ in a fun and supportive environment.

Fantastic experience: My son has been a member of SJJA Brookvale since Nov 2022. He trains with the “Teens” 5 times a week on average on an unlimited membership. In my opinion, I do not care whether he has the skills to be a competitive athlete in this sport, although has competed twice now and performed very well, another credit to the skills taught. However, under the careful guidance of Pablo, Ravs, Kevan and Team, I am more satisfied with the personal development linked to my son’s Confidence, Discipline, attitude and commitment his has shown under their leadership. We were recommended to many and seen psychologists and specialist to support his Tourette’s Syndrome and Anxiety as he was struggling to cope with depression, adapting to social situations and educational pressures. After a year now, I am proud of the young man he has become and whole heartedly believe in the philosophy these teens are being taught which I feel is far more beneficial than any other therapy he would have received. Thank You!!!

Fantastic experience: Ive been a member of SJJA Brookvale for over 6 years now and have nothing but praise for the coaching team, the members and the bright, friendly, clean environment i get to train in. The gym has an amazing timetable, classes to suit everyone starting at 3 years of age. I love that they have some dedicated women's only classes too. Fantastic experience: Fantastic martial arts school for all ages and genders. Professor Kevan and all of the coaches are extremely passionate about their teaching and this really comes out in the atmosphere of the gym. Technical instruction that is made really fun and enjoyable. My teenage daughter has loved training with the ladies here who have been incredibly welcoming and inclusive. Could not recommend more highly.

Fantastic experience: A great place to learn Jui Jitsu. It’s a really friendly setting with coaches who genuinely care about the kids and teaching Jui Jitsu. The kids learn the skills but also have a fun time as well

Fantastic experience: My daughters have been training here since Feb 2020. They really look forward to the classes as the instructors make it a good fun environment to train in whilst teaching them some great techniques. I cannot recommend the academy enough and big shout out to Kevin and Megan and all the instructors for the great environment they have created since reopening the academy.

Fantastic experience: I started training here last July and was so surprised that I fell in love with Jiu Jitsu it was not what I expected. SJJA Brookvale has an environment where you feel like you are part of the family. The respect and safety you feel on the mat is second to none. Professor Vincent and his beautiful wife Giovana are the ones who have created this fab, safe and welcoming place and we just love them for it. Fantastic experience: AMAZING Martial Arts School, fantastic for Kids and Adults. Proven techniques that will help people from all walks of life. Kids and women friendly place. Clean, tidy and respectful environment. My kid loves it and has been so much better for training at SJJA Brookvale. All instructors are polite and trustworthy, which is something important when you leave kids under their care. This school not only helps those that enter their doors, but also helps the community.

Fantastic experience: Can't rate then highly enough. I looked into several local martial art possibilities for my 5 & 6 yr old kids and am so happy we now go here. The increase in self confidence in the boys is already evident. Really well run and the extra effort from the instructors to encourage my youngest not to give up has been so appreciated.

Fantastic experience: My 3 children and I have trained under Vince for almost 5 years and my wife has also recently started training Brazilian jiu jitsu at SJJA Dee Why. To say Vince is passionate about the way he teaches is an understatement. His level of professionalism and dedication to his students can not be questioned. He has trained State and National champions. This year several of his students will competing in the World titles in Abu Dhabi. SJJA DEE WHY has a nuturing environment that allows men and women of all ages and fitness levels to train and better themselves. The kids classes are incredible. Fantastic experience: We have been training with Vince for over 3 years now at Dee Why. All three of my children ranging from 6 years old to 10 years old train with him and I couldn’t be happier with our academy. All three of my kids are completely supported by Vince and the other coaches. He is extremely professional and pushes the kids to achieve their best. We train 5 days a week and my kids results not only in competition but also in their personal lives show how great SJJA Dee Why is. My middle son is off to compete in the World Championships next month and there is no way he would have dreamed so big or had the potential he has without SJJA Dee Why’s support. Thank You!

Fantastic experience: My son has been going here for over a year. He has developed confidence and strength under the guidance of his respectful and patient coaches. I would recommend these classes to anyone.

Negative experience: That’s more yoga than jiu-jitsu for adults. I wouldn’t recommend it. The worst kids Bjj classes. Definitely not a good behaviour to be following by preasure. A girl has hit her head,and should get rest instead of keep training by the teacher pressure.

Fantastic experience: I have had the privilege of learning BJJ at three different schools. The first two were in Melbourne. I now live in Sydney at have been training SJJA Dee Why for over 4 months now. SJJA Dee Why is a great place to learn BJJ. Fantastic experience: Chokehold Academy is awesome. My son has been doing Little BJJ for over 6 months now and loves it. I've recently plucked up the courage and started the Dutch Muay Thai classes, I find the sessions not just physically but mentally challenging, I love it, I wish I'd joined sooner!! Not only are the coaches friendly and welcoming but so are the other patrons. Would recommend Chokehold to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Chokehold Combat is a great place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! I tried out a few other Jiu Jitsu gyms on the northern beaches and Chokehold combat academy has to definitely be #1. It has been 2 months now that I started training and have lost 12kilos and my self confidence has grown. Thanks Chokehold!!!!
