Plus Fitness 24/7 Melville

Positive experience: It’s ok, after the renovations a lot of gym machines & gear disappeared & hasn’t come back after many months, not sure how this gym is MORE expensive than other plus fitness yet it has less gear… simple machines like a standing calf raise, bicep/tricep machine, etc. but for some reason has 2x glute thrust/bridge machines? Which hardly get used. Additionally it has pretty bad cleaning, especially on floors & really thick dust in most places, most people don’t use towels, gym after a weekend can be abit of a mess, the culture here is not very motivating, it’s mainly sitting on machines & doomscrolling, tailgating / underage teens sneaking in, no shoes, no towels etc, TVs work only half the time & also need a few clocks around the place, there is only one small analogue one hidden away near the front, need a digital one on the main floor like other Plus’s, don’t think I’ve had a single word or sentence from any staff here also, greetings are basic customer service it certainly is weird feeling & not worth the extra payment, maybe once these issues are resolved I won’t feel like I’m over paying for the basics.

Positive experience: Updated Plus Fitness branch using the hammer strength / life fitness equipment which is excellent. Has a Cybex hack squat which is amazing. Probably the best leg equipment of a smaller 24/7 gym franchise. Missing a few pieces which would make it 5 star, no standing calf machine (mount lawley has this in a smaller space had the same renovations) could use two more dedicated upper machines, an incline hammer strength press would complement everything nicely and a hammer strength iso lateral seated row (I wish plus fitness would add this to their equipment list as they have a low row and a high row) or a chest supported T Bar Row (hammer strength don’t make one though do this will be unlikely) they have the space to add two more pieces without it being over crowded. Great bumper plates and barbells with lots of rack space. All the Cable attachments you need, dedicated prowler track and impressive amount of kettlebells. Never too busy and hardly wait for equipment. Members are very respectful, and don’t hog machines, however the younger crowd don’t put their plates away, the gym can be a bit of a mess at times with plates on machines the floor etc, (im really giving this 4.5 stars for this and the above reasons) however it is very clean. Staff are extremely nice and helpful, from my small dealings they’ve been amazing. Great pricing and lots of free parking, hammer strength equiped gyms are getting hard to find so this was a pleasant surprise, just hope they can add a few more pieces for the ultimate experience.

Negative experience: - Dusty all over the floors -equipment is very dated and clunky -expensiv (like 30$) this is 3x the normal gym rate - atmosphere sucks

Negative experience: Nice facilities after the Reno however like all chain gyms the contract is rather predatory. Normal cost is $36 a fortnight but if you forget to have money on card it charges around $52… Cancelling membership is also a pain as they continue to charge for an extra month ($70)

Fantastic experience: New refit is amazing! One of the best gyms now with all new equipment and the layout is much better!

Fantastic experience: Great gym with PARKING!!! It’s a miracle. I do all of my leg session here as it has a lot more leg machines then normal plus fitnesses. There is a lot of floor space. With many food venues around for a post workout meal what more could you want.

Negative experience: Update- would rate lower if possible. Account was on hold. Charged $127 for overdue fees that did not exist? No contact made. No contact attempted to be made. Just a hefty withdrawal for a made up debt. Avoid this gym. Staff more than unhelpful. Absolutely shocking. Tried to hold account being interstate (done twice before via mobile), staff wouldn't allow that and kept suggesting I come in to sign a form.

Fantastic experience: pricing?

Positive experience: Great gym friendly and motivated staff nice big gym as well with everything needed to get even the most unfit, to your high to above normal gym user or athlete looking to spice up your training routine. I've been missing going to the just because I have a major spinal cord prolapsed discs on my spinal cord and spinal cord compression injury atm and may be left with perminant spinal damage. Really wish they had heated pools for people like myself who are physically in able to walk without an aid a carer. But good gym

PT Alaina Tate is absolutely amazing and I would recommend for anyone whether just starting out or experienced. She's hardworking, encouraging, and knows her stuff

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here roughly two years now and I really enjoy it! I've been to other 24 hour gyms in the past (in the surrounding area too) and nothing beats the equipment, staff and patrons at this place. They have recently renovated, making it even more spacious and introduced a bunch of new machines in the process. Even when it does get busy, theres still plenty of equipment to use to get through your workout. I have also been training with Dave over the last three months and have already noticed some great changes in myself. One tiny thing though - I would love if gym patrons had access to an aircon switch. When the gym is unstaffed, its usually not running and it can get a bit hot. Other 24/7 gyms Ive been to have timed aircon switches or timed fans for people to use at their own free will. Despite this, I give it 5/5! Great job team :)
