The Central Park Seniors Exercise Park has been designed specifically for older people, to help improve physical and mental wellbeing.
Weekly sessions are running with our Volunteer Buddies. Why not make this a regular part of your week? Our Volunteers will show you how to use the equipment and guide you through a simple exercise circuit. Sessions run on weekday mornings.
Printed instructional guides are available in Central Park Community Centre along with up to 12 audio devices equipped with an outdoor hearing loop for facilitator led group sessions in the Park.
The national physical activity guidelines recommend older people to be active on most, preferably all, days every week. Doing some physical activity, even a little bit, is better than doing none.
Stand on the plate and slightly bend your knees. Twist your body from side to side while holding to the bar. Go slowly, look straight ahead and focus on stabilising your core. Rest as needed between each attempt.
This exercise is for the chest, elbows and shoulder mobility and flexibility. Stand in the middle of the equipment. Hold a ball with one hand and move the ball along the bar. Alternate hands. Rest as needed between each attempt.
Walk along the beam at your normal walking speed, using one hand for support. Gradually reduce the use of hand support. Rest as needed between each attempt.
This exercise raises your heart rate and strengthens the leg muscles. Hold on to the rail. Step up onto the stairs, placing both feet on each step. Walk over the bridge and back. Rest as needed between each attempt
Wyndham City Council recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge the Bunurong and Wadawurrung Peoples as Traditional Owners of the lands on which Wyndham City operates. The Wadawurrung and Bunurong Peoples have and always will belong to the Werribee Yalook (river), creeks, stars, hills and red clay of this Country. We pay respect to their Ancestors and Elders who always have, and always will, care for Country and community today and for future generations.
Seniors Exercise Park: Opinions

Fantastic experience: Excellent park for the old to stretch and relax, and there is a play area for little kids. Good place to get a snack and relax
Fantastic experience: Has recently been rebuilt with new equipment everywhere, but closed now due to Covid. It's a great fun small area for kids to play. No public toilets though.

Fantastic experience: It was nice and relaxing :)
Positive experience: Amazing place for families
Fantastic experience: Its newly renovated with a clean finish. Love that it has a kitchen. I had my baby shower here and a 50th birthday it was really nice
Positive experience: After it’s renovation it really looks good. I generally use the activity room which is well maintained. The washrooms are clean and well lit. The new chairs and seating in the lobby area look good.
Fantastic experience: I went today to check out the Seniors Exercise Park which is located outside the Community Centre. Was quite impressed after hearing about this and reading about it on the council website (which also has all the instructions and videos you’ll need). It is small in area but has a lot of equipment to do a wide range of activities. I especially like the ones that challenge your sense of balance as this is so important in preventing falls and all the consequences that can bring as we age. The area has a soft rubber surface that is not slippery and it has shade sails above. I think it is a great initiative of the council and hope to see it replicated in many more community centres. At the moment there is construction work happening at the other end of the community centre and I was there way too early to look inside to comment on the Central Park Community Centre itself. That will be on another visit. :)
Fantastic experience: More than 20 families providing an open house to feed everyone in this year's Eid Celebration - awesome! Enjoyed the wonderful food, the music, the community vibe - just everything. Will be back next year!
Positive experience: Clean. Need more parking.
Fantastic experience: Sunday islamic school classes are really good
Fantastic experience: Go to group there
Positive experience: Needs heating great rooms
Positive experience: Decent venue, sometimes very unclean and climate control system doesn't seem to be working half the time.
