Anytime Fitness Edmonton

Negative experience: UPDATE 17/10/24 contract was cancelled via email 3/10/24, further payment taken out 4/10/24. Neither club manager or Area manager have responded to emails. Area manager has promised in email for a refund to occur, has gone quiet after making this promise. ORIGINAL REVIEW: After being a member of this gym for over 12 months, and outside of my initial contract terms (12 months), I decided to cancel as I was no longer able to attend this gym anymore. Cancelling my contract outside the terms took nearly 6 weeks from start to finish, I was stonewalled and delayed at every turn extending what should have been a simple process into an extremely frustrating and time consuming procedure. I requested a copy of my contract on 8 separate occasions, (all in writing via email) before they were able to provide a copy of my original contract to me. I requested ALL communication was via email only due to work constraints, and yet they continued to call me and leave messages and rarely actually respond to emails in any sort of timely fashion. The gym made it extremely difficult to cancel my membership, they continually told me I could only cancel in person in the gym, which is incorrect, it can be done via email but they wouldn't even send me a cancellation form to complete the cancellation via email. The gym wouldn't even advise me of the process to cancel and kept insisting it had to be done in the gym only. The gym took 6 weeks to even provide a copy of my original gym contract, they were supposed to provide one when i first signed up but never provided one and simply stated, if i ever need a copy, they have them at the gym for me to pick up. Promised a free in gym consultation as part of my sign up package, this was never received as they were always booked out in advance for months at a time. Also be aware in the fine print, the key fob fee of $79 is 100% NON refundable at the end of the agreement.

Fantastic experience: A cracking gym with great equipment, lovely staff and even better members! Clean, tidy, friendly, safe and welcoming to all. Definitely worth a try!

Negative experience: Not a bad gym to train at. Fairly good equipment, it’s sizeable and fairly clean. HOWEVER!!! The environment in which to train in the morning is absolutely atrocious! It’s pretty busy from 4am, with only fans. Aircon is not on or, is not powerful enough to make a difference! Hot, humid and stiff gyms are extremely uncomfortable to train in. Everyone is so fatigued by the time the aircons actually come on. Sent multiple emails, made multiple calls….unfortunately….no response! Terrible service quite frankly!

Negative experience: Disgraceful money grabbers. I joined in 2018. I.was a fifo worker. I paid ridiculous money for joining fee, contract until 2020 etc. Yep my mistake! As i was fifo to a mining company and i was 7 days on, 7 off. i asked for a discount after. i needed proof. So my Company Hr lady e-mailed with my roster to Anytime fitness Edmonton. The Anytime Fitness lady started solicting my company Hr about corporate deals in the same e-mails. It was soo wrong, i complained, and never went back. I still have the e-mails! I paid my membership until now thinking i may go back. i have a chainsaw injury to my forearm 40 yearsago. So, in total i have been to this gym 3 times in near 6 years and they know it, but want an extra 4 weeks membership to a contract that finished in 2020. Yes, i should of stopped my membership years ago. Butt. I have not worked for 3 years because i had a fall on my roof re injuring my arm. i am almost 64 years old being chased by this company! I always pay my bills unless i am being ripped off!

Fantastic experience: everyone is lovely, the atmosphere is amazing. i always feel confident and hyped up. been here for 6 months and can’t wait to continue my journey

Negative experience: Fitness professionals stay away. High Turn over of trainers and managers across all 4 clubs for years, and for good reason they are about as unprofessional as it comes. Expensive joining fee, expensive FOB key , expensive Rent and expensive weekly membership with big lock in contracts. Great gym for backpackers to take a shower

Negative experience: DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME Was told you could cancel at anytime once your contract ended to then be told to cancel you have to pay 4 weeks in advance. For others to be able to cancel with no charge! They say if you have a medical or move you can cancel but yet they pick and choose who can cancel for free and who can’t You try and call in staffing hours and no one ever answers the phone. I signed up at woree and someone moved my membership to Edmonton when I never asked them too. This is by far the biggest rip off for a gym that I have ever seen. If you want to start at the gym this is not the gym for you. To much hassle involved and they barely even have the equipment other gyms offer

Positive experience: I'm a supporter or Anytime Fitness as I am from Sydney and they thrive down there. I'm came to Cairns to visit dad and attempted to obtaine a 3 weeks pass. Unfortunately the friendly service lady was unable to give me the right price to sign up. The gym itself seems small aswell compare to what I am use to. I give the staff 5 stars to trying to help but unfortunately 2 stars for the expensive price. Local gym at Bentley Park was less than half.

Negative experience: Staffed hours are completely false. It’s such a pain to try and cancel a membership when I don’t have much free time and I have to spend it driving all the way to Edmonton just for their to be no staff. Absolutely useless business. Do not get a membership with anytime.

Negative experience: Krystal of Anytime Fitness Edmonton is a cash piranha. My SIGNED membership contract ended Oct 21. She insisted March 22. I emailed her to remind her early March, she then tells me I need to give her 30 days notice. It is the 8th of April today and she is still taking money out of my account! Be warned! Dishonest practice!

I’m visiting from Adelaide atm and have been going to the Edmonton Anytime fitness and I have to say I have enjoyed every moment, it has everything you need but the only thing it doesn’t have is chalk for those who rack pull & Deadlyft but other than that it’s really great I highly recommend :)

Edmonton club staff are friendly and helpful, the location is great with lots of parking. This club is compact, and versatile with enough equipment to meet expectations

Fantastic experience: My experience started when I first moved into Edmonton. I was feeling depressed and had trouble with my self image. I was ushered into joining anytime fitness Edmonton. Since joining the team I have had a massive amount of encouragement and have been able to improve my mental health. It is always a joy to visit the Edmonton anytime fitness facility. I would highly recommend signing up as it has been a positive life changing experience for me.

Negative experience: TV channels aren’t working on most of the cardio machines. It seems that every time I go in another machine has lost TV. I can’t even put on YouTube to watch music videos. Staff either don’t care about the issue or can’t be bothered fixing it. Anti bacterial wipe dispenser is always empty. Don’t bother going between 5-8 because it’s so ridiculously busy you won’t get a machine. Place is small and behind the times with machines. They either need to move to a bigger place or extend the place.

Positive experience: Great little Gym and friendly staff. Only 3 stars due to a group of rude members in the evenings that hog up to 6 machines at a time without towels. They harass other members who try to use "their" equipment. At least 3 complaints have been made to staff by friends of mine without any change. Would be 5 stars otherwise.
