Fantastic experience: Fernwood Gungahlin is by far the best gym I've ever been to! It has a huge space, is rarely busy, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Also, the all-female aspect made a huge difference for me, as I feel really comfortable and supported. They also just launched their evolt body scan, and I had the pleasure of being one of the first to use it! The woman helping me was so great and gave me a lot of support and information! I think this gym has it all, and I genuinely recommend it to anyone. Especially those who may be intimidated by the gym and never thought they had the capacity to be a "gym person." I never was able to be one until I joined Fernwood.

Negative experience: Have been getting daily annoying calls from Fernwood trying to get me to join their membership even though I specifically requested to have my number removed from their system. Their staff acknowledged this request every time but I still would get another call from another staff member the next day.
Positive experience: I love Fernwood and my PT is great! I feel good there knowing the support I get from my PT and also being a female only gym. I could be wrong but it seems staff are being stretched. There doesn’t seem to be a great deal of support for staff. As a business owner myself, I know the value of having good staff and supporting them. If I don’t, good staff leave. I wouldn’t want that for Fernwood because I enjoy it there so much.

Fantastic experience: I’m new to Fernwood and absolutely loving it! Such a great variety of classes, friendly staff, and a variety of equipment to use on the gym floor. Virtual classes are on offer too if you can’t make it to a normal classes. All the other members are lovely who I’ve spoken with. I wish I had joined sooner !

Fantastic experience: I’ve been working out at Fernwood Gungahlin for a while now, and I absolutely love it. The club hours fit perfectly with my schedule, and the variety of classes keeps things interesting. The Reformer Pilates studio is my favorite—it’s really helped improve my strength, core and flexibility. What really sets Fernwood Gungahlin apart is the incredible staff. They are not just friendly and supportive, but they genuinely care about each member’s fitness journey. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and positive energy. The trainers are knowledgeable and always willing to help, whether it’s offering advice on your workout or just providing some extra motivation when you need it. Plus, having childcare available means I can work out stress-free, knowing my little one is in good hands. They have formed a really nice community and I am enjoying making friends! It’s a great place for women to feel empowered and achieve their fitness goals, thanks to the outstanding service and support from the amazing staff. Negative experience: Stay away, don't even think to join Fernwood. The worst club I have ever been to. This "business" simply stinks. The management is completely useless - no customer service or communication skills, even when some issues had been addressed, including overcharged fees - they don't appear to care about their customers, only how to get their money. The manager is petty and a bully.

While we understand your frustrations, we can also guarantee that our staff made every effort to assist you with your many requests and were able to resolve most of them. We believe the only request we were not able to accommodate is the issue with the booking app not being compatible with your phone due to your phone being an older model with restricted download capacity for apps. Unfortunately, due to being a franchise business, we are unable to adjust the functionality of the IT related applications. I believe the team had tried to explain that to you on many occasions. You chose to cancel your membership within a week of joining, mainly due to this reason. During your notice period, you had full access to the club and all classes. We made every endeavour to accommodate your needs in a professional manner during that time. We appreciate the month you spent with us and wish you the best in your future endeavours. Negative experience: Don't join this gym. It's okay as far as the facilities go but trying to get out of a membership is an absolute nightmare. I have never felt more unheard or unsupported before and am so incredibly disappointed - they promise you the world and sell you something amazing but it's the complete opposite when you want to leave. I am so upset by my experience with this gym and would not recommend getting stuck in a membership, they don't let you out easily and then are so condescending and rude when you start pushing back and questioning things!!

From looking into your membership, I can see that you opted for the 12 month membership (as you get a cheaper rate when you commit for 12 months). Unfortunately as with any contract, there are cancellation fees to cancel a contract early. Once these fees have been paid as per our Terms and Conditions, you are able to cancel your membership. We do offer flexi monthly memberships where you pay a fortnightly rate which is slightly higher than the 12 month rate and you are not locked into a contract. I can see that we have also recently assisted you with freezing your membership which l believe you were happy with. Negative experience: Their venue is nice the instructors are great, only the lady at desk was talking to my friend so rude because we are on try out passes. It seems like a few people had a same experience with the same lady. Terrible customer service.

Negative experience: My experience with Fernwood Fitness in Gungahlin was unpleasant, and I decided not to sign a contract after completing my 5 Pilates sessions. Despite this, I've been receiving daily calls to join the membership, which has become quite bothersome. The lack of explanation regarding the terms and conditions, along with limited access to classes, was frustrating, especially since the staff failed to provide adequate information. In the first week, a staff member assisted me in booking a class, but now, I am unable to book the same class as I am not allowed to be there before 8:30 am. When the staff asked for details regarding the $49 for 5 Pilates sessions, which included an induction session, so only 4 proper classes for $49, I was also informed that I could access facilities unlimitedly. However, I now find myself unable to book the classes I want, which is disappointing. This information should have been clarified before charging me. Also, no one explained to me that I cannot get a refund, which I didn't know until today when I asked for one. Furthermore, I encountered some rudeness from the staff, further adding to my dissatisfaction.
Negative experience: The reception is horrible, the staff unbelievably petty. Called in to check the current membership package , when I expressed my opinion the staff called me back just to be petty and hang up on me like do they know something like customer service exists? Very poor service
Negative experience: Called today to try and get a free trail before signing up. Considering I’ve been with my previous gym for 7yrs, I don’t take my membership lightly. The lady on the phone didn’t want to even try to help me. She just kept offering a 30 day offer for $30. Then basically hung up on me. I was purely hoping to ensure the equipment met my needs. I don’t need 30 days, if I’m happy, I’ll join for the long haul. Awful customer service. I’ve spoken with Sam on previous occasions, she’s your saving grace!

Negative experience: Seriously, I wouldn’t mind if someone asked if it was okay to be removed from a class but to already be at the gym & receive an automated notification that you have been deleted from a class, less than 30 minutes before it is due to begin, really?
Lynne I an sorry about this. I have had a look at our booking system and the system is showing that you had attended sessions both on Saturday and Sunday. Negative experience: Worst experience ever. Rude staff and zero support. Wouldn’t recommend at all! Please save your money and go somewhere else. Prepaid crèche services that went to waste as I wasn’t able to use at all due to staff. Paid for two months and thanks for the pathetic staff didn’t attend more than first week.

Fantastic experience: Loving my unlimited reformer Pilates membership. The instructors are super friendly and helpful. I’ve already noticed results and my little one is loving the crèche! I also have access to the gym so this was a no brainer. My friend is doing the hit classes and she said they are awesome. Definitely recommend!

Negative experience: I was also ripped off!!! I would give no stars if possible. It seems I have similar experience as others,starting to think we should all take this further. NOTHING promised at start up was delivered.i tried to chase up so i could actually start for MONTHS yet continued trying to take payments. No free month, i eventually got the induction and HALF a pt session 2 months later (sky was actually lovely, the ONLY positive thing i have to say) Prepaid $100 worth of creche sessions i never used aswell as 3 payments for a service i could never use. They tried charging me more and when i refused to continue because of their unprofessionalism sent a debt collecting agency to me. When i told them the story and showed them the evidence of the clubs scam i never heard from them again. No refund either though
Hi Kayla, I appreciate your feedback. I completely hear you from a customer perspective. I am looking into this as I type my response to you. However, I would like to clarify the following: - What exactly were you promised when you joined? - Were you promised a free month when joining? If so, did you flag it with the staff when you were charged as it may have been a clerical error. - When you say ‘half a PT session’ do you mean you were not given the full 30 minutes? If so, did you speak to front of house about it? - I understand you bought creche sessions, can you clarify why you weren’t able to use them? Was it a hold up from our end? - Can you clarify what you mean by ‘we tried to charge you more’? Are you referring to the notice period in your membership contract, which would have been explained to you when joining. I am earnestly sorry for the experience you had with us and I will get to the bottom of this. There was obviously a breakdown in communication. I will also take your feedback back to the team and do a review of our processes so that this doesn’t happen in the future. We are here to help our members and make a positive change in their lives and I am sorry that was not the case here. I thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.
Negative experience: Management is not trustworthy whatever they said while signup on call actual contract was something els and they don’t wanna listen detecting money from back account. Totally disappointed. Better stay away from this gym( Writing behalf of my partner)
Naresh, I am very sorry to read about the experience. As we are a women’s only gym, I am going to assume that you have reached out on behalf of someone else who is a member with us. I am very keen to give her a call tomorrow and resolve any dispute. Please know we are not in the business of scamming our members like any other legitimate business. We try to resolve all issues as they come to us. However, I am sure you will appreciate that in every business there is miscommunication between staff and customers from time to time. Negative experience: Cancellation was a nightmare for me. Been to store for a cancellation and I was suggested to give then a call and again I was told to email them about it. its been a while and I am still trying to cancel it. as per my first try, it should have been cancelled at least 3 months ago. And I have been and will be paying for the membership don't know until when. what a joke.

Negative experience: Was not at all happy with my experience at Fernwood Gungahlin. At the time I was going, there were renovations being undertaken, which was OK, but there were no change rooms or bathrooms available. I paid for some PT sessions and the PT I had was completely disinterested in helping me get started - I've never had PT before and I was so embarrassed. I ended up having to leave Canberra because of a relationship breakdown and Fernwood refused to let me transfer my PT sessions somewhere else. Never again will I go to a Fernwood

PT sessions are non-refundable but they are definitely transferable to another Fernwood. Negative experience: I DO NOT recommend this gym at all. The staff were great while I was attending classes however since I decided to cancel it has been an absolute nightmare. It has taken 2 phone calls, an in person conversation at the gym and an email to be told they would finally cancel my membership. I was on a flexible contract that only required only 2 weeks notice to cancel so it should not have been this difficult. THEN, after finally receiving verbal and an email confirmation that it would be cancelled, they continued to take out payments after the cancellation date! I am absolutely appalled by their service. I have never had so much difficulty cancelling a gym membership before. Initially I called to cancel and was told “you can’t cancel over the phone, you have to send an email or come into the gym”. So I sent an email, to which I received no response. I gave it a few days and then decided to go in to the gym to cancel. I was told “Sorry I can’t do that for you. My manager has to do that, they’re not here at the moment and they like to process them all at the same time.” They said they had received the email as well and it shouldn’t be too much longer. I left frustrated, not knowing what to do. I didn’t know cancelling a gym membership would be so difficult. I gave it a couple more days and after still not hearing anything I decided to call again, asking for the manager. I was put on the phone to someone who wasn’t the manager but seemed to have some sort of authority and was rather rude. After hassling me to stay, which made me feel quite uncomfortable, they said they could cancel it and sent me an email to confirm. After all this headache of trying to cancel, it had taken about a week to finally get confirmation. According to my contract, I only needed to provide 2 weeks notice when cancelling so a final 2 weeks worth of payments but because it took so long to receive confirmation I had to pay a total of 3 weeks payments. I argued this but they insisted I had to pay it. At this point of was sick of all the hassle and had better things to do with my time so I just accepted that I was going to loose a bit more money. I just wanted it all done and dusted. I thought I had finally resolved all of this BUT THEN I checked my bank account tonight and they just took out another payment!! I am so mad and will have to resort to contacting my bank to sort this out and hopefully get my money back. I have never had such awful customer service before. I will not be recommending your gym to anyone. I was considering going back maybe later in the year but after all this, I will definitely not be going back. If you are reading this and considering joining this gym, please do yourself a favour and don’t bother. What a joke! I do want to just say, Michelle was lovely and is a great pilates instructor. It’s a shame about the management.

Fantastic experience: A long term member and planning to stay that way! I live 25 minutes from the club now but continue to remain a member here because I would rather drive the distance and go to a club that I love than join anywhere else! The staff here are absolutely lovely and as members we are spoilt for the quality of group fitness trainers and their skill levels. Having the privelege of doing virtual classes is also a massive bonus to this club & means that there's always something on the timetable! Facilities are always clean & never once have I had a hygeine fear before or during covid! Love being a Gungahlin Fernie!

Fantastic experience: A+++ on cleanliness, friendly and professional staff, quality personal training and great communication. I feel safe even with the current pandemic. The club have new processes to meet the ACT health COVID-19 safety rules, staff sanitise equipments often, and members follow social distancing in the gym.

Positive experience: Comfortable space to work out in. Service can be disorganised and a lot of classes are just work out dvds on a projector screen no instructor.

We try to put our instructor based classes during peak times so most of our members can enjoy them. When it comes to virtual classes, technology sometimes lets us down, but we try and sort it out as soon as possible so members can enjoy a workout :)

Positive experience: I have been going to Fernwood Gungahlin for over a year now and I find the staff really friendly and super helpful. Everyone is approachable and you feel like to are going in to hang with friends - not just work out. Great equipment and amazing instructors :) My only wish would be that the gym was bigger so that we could fit even more amazing instructors, gym equipment and likeminded ladies in :) The place rocks!
