Positive experience: Convenient, community-minded boutique gym. Unfortunately it is crazy busy in the mornings and I often have to skip certain exercises or completely change what I was going to work out due to no available equipment. Its at a point where I either have to come at a earlier time (5am) or find a bigger gym. Disappointing as it is convenient for me and at a good price.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member at 6 Degrees South for 7 years. Staff have always been super friendly and happy to give advice. There’s a good range of classes and I love that it’s not one of those massive gyms where you have to wait in line to use equipment. You can get in and out in good time. It’s also handy having the 67 tram stop right out front in case the weather turns bad. If you’re thinking of starting at a gym, this is one where you won’t feel like everyone’s watching. Everyone is really respectful and there for the same reason, to enhance their health and wellbeing

Fantastic experience: I have been attending this gym for over 10 years and have always found it to be clean, Friendly and not too crowded. Attendants take personal interest in members and assist with my training even so I do not have a personal trainer. I would have given them 10 stars if I could.

Negative experience: Instead of justifying - maybe fix the issue! My daughter signed up for a membership at the gym and was sent a message by one of the workers at the gym. She paid a $50 deposit for a key and a tour of the gym to be shown around. She was sent a message to be at the gym on a certain time and day so she could be let in and shown around. The person who sent her the message did not show up and did not tell attempt to communicate this with her OR attempt to reschedule. I called twice and left two voicemail messages on the gym’s answering machine and no one bothered responding. My daughter was then charged. Membership fee, despite not being able to access the gym and still not receiving a call, text or email to reschedule. My daughter is just out of high school. This gym has taken $100 from her and not provided ANY service. Poor form. I called and the person on the phone just kept repeating…. We are. Fully staffed gym. Completely irrelevant if you can’t even get in the front door!!!

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! Training at 6 Degrees South is perfect for my physical and mental health and wellbeing. It has friendly staff and experienced PTs who work with people of all ages and abilities, plus a great community of members. Definite value for money from my membership - I recommend everyone in the area check it out.

Fantastic experience: I am a member of 6 Degrees South Gym for quite a while now, and I have finally decided to officially complement the owners and staff for their effort on improving the experience of working out at the gym. The new equipment and the lay out makes it easy for anyone to exercise . Whatever you prefer; Weight Machines or Free Weights, you have here enough to choose from to satisfy any need no matter if you just would like to improve your wellbeing or to build your muscles. It's cleanliness and medium size gives you fell of friendly and pleasant Boutique Gym. This is how I personally feel about 6 Degrees South Gym, and I truly believe that all members would agree with me.

The staff are incredibly friendly helpful and welcoming and they house some of the best trainers I’ve ever worked with shout-out to Rob! A great gym for those living in Elsternwick and surrounding suburbs

Fantastic experience: I enjoy my workouts at 6 Degrees South. The space is great, and all of the equipment I like is there. I train with David, a terrific PT who adds a healthy mix of weights and kickboxing into my morning session. He gets my heart rate up. Managers Lilly and Tas are lovely to chat with, and always makes you feel welcome. Plus, the gym is very clean with lots of sprays and paper towels to wipe down benches and weights. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Just joined this gym with my wife a few months ago ans we absolutely love it, Staff are great, trainers are motivating and the atmosphere is very easy going- Highly reccomend.

Positive experience: Friendly gym without the egos and pretentiousness. Chris at the front desk is an absolute star (although I haven’t seen him around for a while). Good selection of free weights and racks - sadly lacking in a lot of commercial gyms these days. They lose a star from me only because despite their range of plates, they don’t offer any alternative bars. A hex bar for deads and a safety bar for squats would be a good starting point. They really help people who are battling injuries or are otherwise inflexible. I’d also love to see a water fountain in place of their current setup for those days you forget to bring your bottle! Keep up the good work, guys. In response to the gym: you do not have safety barbells. Those are safety pins attached to the squat rack. Please consider getting safety barbells and hex barbells. Fantastic experience: I love this gym!! Been a member for 5 years and and it has been such a positive experience. Great classes, that suit everyone’s fitness levels and really challenge you. I have also been training with one of their great trainers, Anthony for the last 5 years and he is fantastic! This gym provides everything you need with a great atmosphere, wonderful stuff and friendly members.

Fantastic experience: Excellent; thoroughly recommend. This gym has all the equipment you need for a full body workout. The classes are brilliant; challenging but also personally tailored to suit all fitness levels. It’s not an intimidating place to workout and the staff are very helpful, passionate, approachable, welcoming & knowledgeable. My favourite gym experience to date.

Negative experience: I was told my membership would be suspended while travelling long term, but returned to be told that since there was no proof of this, it must never have happened, and I would not be able to return to the gym without paying again. What an elaborate thing this would be to make up! Clearly one of the staff has made a big mistake in saying we could have the suspension and not giving us a receipt, but the owner has effectively just told us we're lying and refused to honour or even acknowledge what happened. This was an incredibly disappointing experience and I will never return.

Fantastic experience: I’ve trained here twice a week for years with my amazing trainer Lis, it’s a such a great gym! Everyone is so friendly and helpful and the classes are action packed, challenging and different every week.

Negative experience: Incompetent staff and an owner unwilling to take responsibility. My wife and I tried to resume our suspended memberships recently only to find that they had no record of the suspensions and our memberships were expired. Eventually dealt directly with the owner who refused to believe that we had suspended the memberships even though she was contacted to approve the original suspension. Obviously a complete failure of their employee training and/or systems. Get this, the owner used the opportunity to try to sell us new memberships instead of actually resolving the problem! We couldn't believe it either. It was 18 weeks of two memberships that they've effectively stolen from us. Certainly won't be coming back, I'd recommend Zap Fitness down the road instead.

Fantastic experience: Great membership options. Very flexible and only three month contracts rather than some places that expect 18 month commitment. The ‘FIT’ classes run in there are similar to the ones run at f45 studios and just as good

Negative experience: Les Mills classes were cancelled with no warning, not stoked because they continue to charge for an extra 30 days after cancellation, even though they don't offer the same services as when I signed up. I tried to explain that I wasn't impressed but reception was like "computer says noooo" Edit : you sent so much promotional material through in December that my email account assumed you were spam. Not on!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at 6 Degrees South for over 20 years. Obviously I wouldn't train anywhere else. Love it here.

Negative experience: After repeated requests to have my membership terminated they continued to take money from my account. Then they asked me to remove my review in order to get my money back- being on a disability pension I needed that money. Nasty, thieves is my opinion.(following is response to 6 Deg answer to first review) Now (In your response to the first half of this review 6/5/17) you're saying you didn't take money from my account after I cancelled my membership- Totally untrue (and my issue was never resolved at all) and I have the transcript to prove your asking me to change my review in order to get my 3 payments back. I didn't change it and my money was NEVER returned. Even after I said I'd play your game when I received the money and I never did. Your lying is infuriating and in no way scares me off- I'll prove my case to anyone who asks with the Emails from you/ your staff. I was a member for years and this is how you chose to treat me. I brought 4 other members to you and you ripped me off with no remorse at all.

Positive experience: Bottom Line: It's a good gym. No Nonsense. Classes excellent. Perfect for working out in your own gym bubble of concentration.

Negative experience: I was a long term member but they've become more and more like fitness first in their dirty money grabbing ways. In NO WAY do i recommend this facility. Up the road is a much newer 24 hr place that you pay less money for. 6 degrees WAS fantastic for years but lately... well, just don't bother. THEY WON'T RETURN THE MONEY THEY TOOK AFTER I REQUESTED TO LEAVE- I'M BROKE AND IN DIRE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP AND THEY BLACKMAILED ME SAYING I WOULDN'T GET MY MONEY BACK UNTIL I CHANGED THIS REVIEW- If i could say anything more negative I would- bad bad people (aside from staff who were usually helpful) I BROUGHT YOU MANY MEMBERS- i will ensure I bring you no more.
