Fantastic experience: Fernwood Fitness is an amazing gym! The atmosphere is always welcoming, and the staff are friendly and supportive. The range of equipment and classes keeps every workout fun and effective. The sauna is a MUST!! Highly Recommend!!!

Negative experience: After months of Fernwood calling me wanting to come in for a trial…. I decided to try them . I called the night before to ensure class was still on. When I arrived they cancelled the class and no one bothered to let me know . Very unprofessional… waste of my time . They told me they were busy …. didn’t even see any members .

Fantastic experience: Fernwood Camberwell has been my go to place for all my fitness needs for more years that I can remember!! You’ll find a well equipped gym with super professional staff offering PT sessions and lots of different classes. It’s a welcoming space for women of all ages and levels of fitness.

Fantastic experience: A very friendly place.teachers are very professional ! They monitor the students on regular basis I enjoy the classes very much. Happy to be part of Fernwood .

Fantastic experience: The staffs are responsive and friendly. trainers are well specialized in their areas and group classes are fun. Traditional gym area is equipped with new and varied machines. Sauna space is the highlight.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined Camberwell gym. It has been a great experience working out at the gym. All staff here are extremely dedicated and approachable. As soon as I walk in through the door I have been greeted with a smile and casual conversation. Lisa has added new machines and a brand new set of treadmills. The entire place is extremely clean and looked after by staff. Lisa makes sure that any issues or concerns are attended to and fixed asap. This gym also provides a variety of group fitness classe. I have attended 2 of the classes and I have thoroughly enjoyed them. Although it is a little bit of extra drive for me I still enjoy working out at Camberwell gym. I highly recommend you trialling this gym. You won't regret. Thank you to Lisa and all staff at Camberwell gym for your support and friendly service.

Fantastic experience: I have very good experience and enjoying the Fitmax and fit 30 ! The reformer Pilates have wonderful teachers and I have improved my fitness and my GP was surprised that I have increased my bone density ! Thank you everyone at fernwood Camberwell for keeping me in the right path !

Negative experience: Please avoid at all costs. I signed contract with a clause if there is pregnancy or any other medical reason, it can be cancelled with no cost.. After bring pregnant, giving birth, going overseas, having to deal with medical conditions, even after providing all required medical documents, they kept harassing me and I had to pay $600-$700 dollars to get myself out of their books.. A lady in head office did help when I called her and said that I was on maternity leave, struggling to pay rent and other expenses, she did waive off $300 but I still ended up paying $600-700 on payment plan.. Please Do not sign contract at any cost.

Fantastic experience: Fernwood Camberwell is a wonderful place to work towards achieving your fitness goals. Staffed by the most amazing women who really care about their members, they are so friendly and warm, and nothing is too much when it comes to making sure you have a good experience and achieve your goals. Recently the gym has undergone some major changes and it is only going to continue to improve. It is such an enjoyable place to workout with other beautiful, kind women who really do have each other's backs when it comes to promoting health and wellbeing. I love spending time there.

Fantastic experience: Perfect for me, wanting a well-equipped gym with lots of flexibility. It’s not too busy, I rarely has to wait for machines and such. I normally go at 6.30-9.00pm, after 7pm it’s very quiet. I’ve trained a few times with one of the PTs, Nicole, she was very knowledgeable and motivating. I wouldn’t say it’s extraordinary in any way, just a good, calm, positive vibe gym with 24h access.

Negative experience: The PT is so rude. She stepped on my yoga matt and stand in front of me while I am excercising. Don't recommend to go here

Fantastic experience: It's not just the fireplace or the Swedish sauna that make Fernwood gym Hawthorn so warm and welcoming. The small, tight knit team that run this branch are so friendly, and helpful. You're always greeted with a smile and treated like a friend who popped by for a visit. The free classes are excellent, though it's worth paying for the extra pilates package, with fully qualified instructors ready to take you through the motions on their reformer machines. The gym is always clean and well maintained. The secure parking lot is a bonus, though it would make more sense to have the entry swipe pad on the driver's side of the car when you enter. The members app makes booking in for classes really simple and even sends you reminders, gives you online access to their magazine Pulse, and helps you keep track of your fitness goals. I've only been a member for a month, but I'm loving it - so nice to be back part of a friendly women's gym!

Fantastic experience: I've been a member of many gyms and this was the first one I walked into and felt so comfortable and welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. The staff are friendly, professional and create a positive environment for the members. There is so much gym floor space that even when it's busy it doesn't feel busy as there is always plenty of equipment to use. The quality of instructors is the best I've come across and the band and Barre classes are my favourite. I highly recommend this gym!

Negative experience: I’ve been at this gym for about a year now. There’s not many people so it’s great if you want a quiet gym. Unfortunately there’s a lot of cons. It’s never been cleaned since I’ve been there. The gym floor is really dirty and there’s been a large drink spill on the floor near the machines against the wall/windows for so many months and it’s still not been cleaned. It’s mouldy and really gross. Their bathrooms aren’t cleaned. The toilets have broken toilet brushes and toilet paper everywhere. There is only hand dryers and not paper towel which is more sanitary. On the gym floor they don’t have a barbell pad that isn’t broken. Their air cons are really old and I don’t think are ever used, even when it’s 40 degrees outside. The vents above the gym floor are incredibly noisy and yet there’s no aircon on? A lot of their machines need re-oiling and their weights section needs a redo. Their weights only go up to 20kgs, which makes no sense because it’s a gym and I’ve heard a few people talking about this on the gym floor. There is also minimal equipment, like only 1 squat rack and no lying leg press etc. This gym could be really great, it just needs a revamp and some TLC.

Positive experience: Some of the class instructors are lovely and motivational, and the layout/set-up of the gym is really good, but when I signed up I was told certain classes would be on the timetable in a matter of weeks (11+ months later and they weren’t). I found the cleanliness of the big group room to be hit and miss; there was always plenty of clumps of hair and dust which indicated it hadn’t been vacuumed, which was a concern given the times we’re in. The front desk staff also didn’t really know who the majority of people were, so on entry it was sometimes like being grilled before being allowed upstairs. Have had really pleasant experiences with other Fernwood locations, in Melbourne and interstate, but wouldn’t rush to sign-up again based on this one.

Fantastic experience: Fernwood Camberwell is like a second home to me. I feel really comfortable at FW Camberwell. Staff are nice and friendly. Members are also great to hang out with. Cherry is absolutely fantastic ; really receptive to constructive feedback given and follows through with it. Of course not all our wishlists can be implemented but Cherry always patiently explain her strategy both long term and short term to us. 5 star to this gym!!!

Fantastic experience: After 20 years as a member of this gym what can I say. I just love this gym. The staff, trainers and classes are all amazing. I have made many long standing friendships. It is my home away from home.

Negative experience: Inconsistent communication, bad parking, mold on the ceiling above the treadmills, and they change ridiculous fees for their regular membership before conning you into a cancellation fee knowing it isn't worth the time and energy going to VCAT.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM!!! A really sneaky company who is only interested in money. They kept deducting money from my account even after I requested them to stop. Was that bad that my bank had to block them. To try and deal with them reasonably is impossible. CURRENT Manger and staff are RUDE! I would give no stars if it would let me. Save yourself the drama and disappointment- Go somewhere else, anywhere!

Fantastic experience: Good classes

Negative experience: Wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone. They convince you with the beauty of it but then charge you money for the services you did not even use. Their terms and conditions are not clear at all. I was made to pay $60 for the services I did not even use. And it not stated anywhere on the contract that they have a right to keep the activation fees. Not concerned about their customers at all just trying to make money.

Negative experience: Worse than Fitness First if that's possible! Rundown, rude staff, terrible equipment not to mention absolutely hopeless at getting back to emails/phone calls. Worst trainers ever too. I'm going back to Fitness First. Boring classes with instructors that just yell and the classes are SOO LOUD!! We are in the class you don't need to yell at us with a microphone FFS. Their head office is even more useless. Check your contracts carefully!! DO NOT JOIN.

Negative experience: Not a good experience in this club. That’s why I have to transfer the club again. The transfer fee between club should be $69 as it’s written on contact. And they charged me $99! And the lady always ask u to sign in, That’s annoying

Negative experience: Horrible experience- they hide behind their contract when their own customer service team messes up. Having to go to VCAT to get money back. Process has dragged in for 4 months! DO NOT go here! Staff never available for working people, shoddy record keeping, change rooms are dirty, depressing and unprofessional place.

Negative experience: The worst experience I have ever had at a health fitness club, all they want to do is make money out of you I gave them a medical cert because I could no longer pay my membership they canceled my membership but still continued to take money out of my account. PLEASE DO NOT JOIN so not worth it and the staff there hate each other and hate being there.

Negative experience: 1 Star is a compliment! Very poor experience with this club! Enough to make me never use any Fernwood club again! I began full time study and therefore couldn't afford to pay during the term of my study. In my attempt to find out more about deferring I was either told to try another form of contact, or they were too busy to talk to me at that time, or I simply didn't receive a response. After no response or resolution to my calls or emails I decided to visit the branch. I was told I would get a call back before my next payment came out, of course that didn't happen! I eventually had the payments blocked by my bank as it was causing me a financial struggle and of course I heard from fern wood recoveries straight away! At this point I had decided the club clearly didn't value me as a member and just wanted to be done with it all and had already contacted the ACCC. After about 2 months, I heard from a female I believe to be the gym owner and was told I would have to pay a $200 cancellation fee. When I explained I would be happy to not pursue my ACCC complaint if I could cancel and incur no further charges due to the inconvenience I was told that because THEY didn't have record of my contact (how is that my fault?!) that I would be incurring a fee still. I wish it ended there....it doesn't. After emailing through my cancellation request and not hearing anything for 2 months, I have now been contacted by a debt collector chasing a final payment I'm yet to see an invoice for?!?! Such a shame that rather then acknowledge the inconvenience and stress the poor service and administration has caused me they would rather me take it up with the ACCC and try to get another $200 from me. Be warned, make sure to get EVERY conversation in writing otherwise they will try to take no responsibility for their lack of response or action.

Negative experience: Don't join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away- No respect for customer service/client value. Disgraceful way to treat people- trying to cancel membership since January - keep taking out fees and refused to acknowledge cancellation advise- big business totally disregarding the individual- definitely don't recommend them at all

Negative experience: Disgusting behaviour from staff! After discovering several HIDDEN FEES I attempted to have a mature conversation with Belinda and was met with hostility and defensiveness. Later, several of my phone calls and emails were ignored. I then emailed the supervisor Kerry, which was also ignored. Finally, I emailed the owner assuming he would be appalled at the way his staff behave, yet this email was also ignored! Unprofessional, sneaky and rude staff who do NOT care about their customers. Avoid this gym at all costs and watch out for the hidden fees that they DO NOT disclose.

Fantastic experience: Inclusive. Friendly. Supportive. I am so pleased I made the change from my other gym to Fernwood Camberwell. Now I'm actually making exercise a part of my life because the environment is so welcoming. Couldn't rate highly enough.
