The feedback and tips I get in class help me progress in my practice. I find this type of exercise to be extremely complementary with my other pursuits of golf/snow skiing and supports my general physical and mental well being; especially as I am now in the 50+ bracket. If you want to feel 10 years younger, then I cannot think of a better way to achieve this.

Both Bek and Maddy work hard to keep this business running, supporting the needs of the community. Their Covid safe measures are nothing short of outstanding with clearly marked tapes to promote safe distancing. Lockers are free and well maintained. The bathrooms are beautifully appointed.

Fantastic experience: Been coming to this studio for years, and it continues as being one of the best in the north. Wide range of classes, great vibes, excellent friendly instructors and good people aplenty.

Negative experience: Teachers told me to lock my knees and elbows and clapped loudly to keep time with breathing and yelled instructions from the rear of the room. The space has awful carpet on the floor and appears to be an old office. It was dark and felt unclean. No way would I ever recommend this place to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Georgina's Hot Pilates classes are amazing! I can't recommend them enough. She mixes up the moves for every class and somehow manages to always push & make you work harder without you even realising - it's the best!

I love the H.I.T aspect of the Yoga+ and Hot Pilates+ classes. I've only been going for 3 weeks and I am already seeing results in terms of super toned legs and increased upper body strength. The instructors are down to earth, but push you hard. 5 stars!!

Fantastic experience: Signed up to the 30 day intro offer having just moved to Australia as I was keen to find a studio to keep up Bikram practice. Delighted that there are also other yoga options and pilates on offer and I'm looking forward to trying out all of the classes. The intro offer is great value and is an excellent way to get a feel for the classes and the studio without a big financial commitment before you've stepped through the door! Where else can you do as many classes as you like for 30 days for $1.30 per day?! It also gives you enough time to get a feel for the real benefits of Bikram. The studio and communal areas are very clean and there is plenty of space in the changing rooms with good showers. Staff are helpful and we received a warm welcome on our first visit. Would recommend!

We received a friendly and helpful welcome upon arrival and were pleased to discover clean and modern changing rooms and a fully equipped and modern studio. The Bikram instructor was great and the temperature was just right for a nice, tough workout. Definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get fit in a nice environment. Fantastic experience: I've practiced yoga at quite a few studios around Melbourne and yet I always end up coming back here. The classes are varied and challenging but always fun! I leave with a smile 100% of the time! The change rooms are clean and warm and the staff are knowledgable without being pretentious. Jade, the studio owner, knows virtually every member's name and is always taking the time to seek feedback about new classes and timetables. This is genuinely a studio where your opinions count and you can practice your way!!

Fantastic experience: Im going to start this off by saying that I had no idea what I was getting into when I first signed up at HBY in Ascot Vale, the only kind of yoga I had ever done prier was on my Wii Fit about 5+ years ago and lets just say that didn't last very long. When i first went in everyone was so friendly and helpful, anything you don't have they have clean, fresh and ready for use ( although you do have to pay a few dollars to borrow towels ect. Its nothing too expensive but if you can afford to bring in an old towel you will save money in the long run!) Every time I left I felt so relaxed and calm, its amazing what a little me time can do, and i don't mean sitting on the couch watching tv, or catching up on YouTube vlogs "me time", I mean just being calm and letting everything go while you just listen to your own breathing, not thinking about work, home or even the other stressful life gifts. The staff were genuinely friendly and i did notice how they try to familiarize themselves with regular attendees and will start to address you by name to correct or complement your form, i personally like that they put in the effort to get to know customers. They facility itself was very nice and modern, they bathrooms/change rooms where clean and safe enough to leave your bags without having to worry, however from memory they also have the option of lockers just for added safety. Something interesting that I didn't realize going into it, that now seems obvious when i think back is that you dont wear shoes in the building, when entering the main desk they will ask you to remove your shoes so if you can, wear something easy to take off and put on (eg. thongs, sandals, flats or slides). ALSO, it does get HOT!! Take water, I cant recommend this enough! You're going to be hot, sweating, regretting wearing a jumper and track-pants because you're self conscious and "didn't want to wear shorts" believe me wearing something light will just feel so much better, wear a loose flowy top and some leggings if you're like me and cant bring yourself to wear shorts and also a change of clothes for afterwards especially if you're going to the night classes! The minuet you step outside all your sweat turns to ice and you immediately freeze to death. If it honestly is too hard and you're struggling, frustrated and ready to give up, just know you can use the time as a relaxing meditation time, you don't have to be a yoga pro and worry that everyone's going to look at you if you fall or make a mistake. I remember I would sit out some moves and do the ones i could, no one ever judged me or said boo, and in the end they have a 10-20 minuet meditation time and it was amazing, i recommend trying to make it to the end because you just leave feeling so refreshed and calm after that. Its honestly worth trying at least once in your life.

Fantastic experience: I joined this vibrant Yoga studio about a year ago due to the frozen shoulder. The pain was so bad, some days I couldn't open my car door. That got fixed in about six months on, and all other issues disappeared ...such as bad blood circulation, chronic headaches, and poor digestive system! This studio is equipped with friendly and professional instructors and provides various programs throughout the day which accommodate individual needs. Joining this studio is one of the best thing I have done for myself in a long time!

Positive experience: With great enthusiasm and determination (and pre-exam stress), I decided to try 4 out of the 5 classes at Bikram Yoga Ascot Vale Open Day. I was overwhelmed by the heat and some of the postures and techniques were very new to me. Hot Bikram was very powerful and I had never experienced anything quite like it. Hot Pilates was great fun too. It is amazing how subtle movements can actually do great work on your body. Following these two intense classes, with sweat dripping from head to toe, I then tried out Yin Yoga. I almost fell asleep, that was how relaxed and peaceful I felt doing the class. Finally, I tried out the Power + Glow in the dark class. It was much fun (and hard to do at this point) and it was great seeing everyone giving it a go! All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Loved the experience!!!!

Fantastic experience: An absolutely lovely studio with lots of options for classes. I have done one or two yoga classes in the past, but this was my first time trying anything heated. The first couple of classes were difficult but once you get accustomed to the heat, it really is a great experience. The staff are the amazing and really know what they are doing. 100% recommend this studio!

Fantastic experience: Have done bikram here on and off for 6 months or so, find it a real challenge, but very rewarding. The teachers taking the classes are very helpful and understanding of us beginners lack of knowledge of the positions and technique, and very helpful with advice on working around any injuries or weaknesses you may have.

Fantastic experience: Had never done any yoga before and Jade was tremendous in helping me find my feet and made us all feel very welcomed. Never thought it would provide such a great workout (Power+)! Knew about it the next day but will be back!

Positive experience: Hot Bikram Ascot Vale is a lovely little studio. The atmosphere is comfortable, with very nice changing rooms + shower and lockers provided with key. I took the Power+ class, which was a hybrid class of heated vinyasa and cardio weights. The first 20 -25 minutes of the class runs like a traditional vinyasa flow, with sun salutations to warm the body. After that, the class is focused on interval weight training with about 20 - 25 second intervals of squats, lunges, push-ups, and other cardio moves that utilise weights. The cool down then reverts back to a yoga-focus with forward folds, happy baby, and a final savasana. The class is definitely a great cardio challenge. I would recommend it for traditional gym go-ers who are interested in trying yoga, because this class has more of a work out focus rather than a spiritual inclination that can be foreign for beginner yogis. It is also a good class to integrate into practice for seasoned yogis, as it will challenge muscles a bit more than a traditional vinyasa class. However, it is not recommended for people who take yoga for the spiritual experience, those who choose gentle yoga for health reasons i.e. arthritis or cardiac issues, or those looking for an integration of vinyasa flow with weights as this class isolates one from the other. Great music, good energy, and definitely feeling it in my legs this morning!

Fantastic experience: Hi Sol Im sorry your experience wasnt as you expected. You have a very focused practice and have come so far in your yoga, its unfortunate you had such a horrible experience. Being as I was there and would have done anything to make you happy, it would be unfair to the other students that have signed up for a monthly directed debit under the terms and conditions. In my experience Jade has always been fair and reasonable towards the students who arent happy with change. I hope you reconsider coming back one day.

Negative experience: The instructors are amazing but the new owner definitely needs people skills. I found her utterly rude from the minute l walked in the door. The classes are never full compared to the previous owner. Not to mention extremely inflexible as l wanted to pay the full monthly amount ie $100 in cash for the next three months, however, l would have been penalised and would have had to pay $115.00 per month... Hi Nicole Thank you for your post but l have no intentions of returning to fund Jade's negative attitude. I would like to reiterate how disgustingly rude and pathetic Jade is. I work in an organisation helping people and that's my vision and philosophy. Unlike Jade who walk away saying "l have no time to argue" when l ask a simple question why l was being penalised when paying cash for the next 3 months....SERIOUSLY I have no intentions of providing my bank details. Nicole, again thank you for your email...you were my favorite instructor but l will be commencing yoga elsewhere and certainly spreading the word about Ascot Vale.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to this studio for about 18 months now, and if you are looking to improve fitness, lose weight, or just improve your mindset, this is one place you have to try. BYAV is a hot yoga studio situated on Mt Alexander Road in Ascot Vale. Free street parking is available and on side streets close by. The yoga studio itself has a minimalist feel, with a simple design and a sophisticated hot yoga room with full length mirrors and special carpet designed for hot yoga. Mats and towels can be hired at the studio, or inexpensive mats suited to Bikram yoga can be purchased here. If you have never tried Bikram yoga before, then the intro pass is definitely the way to go for really good value, and a month of unlimited classes to allows you to sample the various classes held at the studio. The signature class is Bikram - a 90 minute yoga class with 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. All held in a room heated to approx 40 degrees C. It sounds pretty intense, but don't let the heat put you off from trying this class! It is my favourite class and actually quite restorative. If Bikram doesn't suit you, there are other varieties of yoga on the menu! Try the Power Yoga class - part vinyasa and part HIIT. There are also low intensity classes like Yin and Yoga Plus for those of us that like to mix it up. The teachers are all very knowledgable and supportive, and questions and feedback are always welcome, which is good when you are new to yoga. There are a number of membership/pass options that can be purchased depending on your budget and how frequently you wish to practice. See you on the mat!

Negative experience: I just wish all the other members be carefully when you are cancelling your membership as I was charged more and I was not able to have the refund. It will be definitely make you feel welcome if you are the customer because customer means money to business. Unfortunately I experienced the ‘cold face’ when I cease my membership. if you think you paid the unlimited pass and can attend the class for free? No. The studio run some classes in charity. which is good thing. unfortunately they cancel your normal class and put charity class in. I reasonably believe the studio took a big piece of money raised by the name of donation.
