Negative experience: I drove from port Macquarie to use the indoor pool today. Before I came I rang the pool several times and no one answered. I then checked the pools website. Their site indicated it was open and had no events on. When I get to the pool I was told the pool was closed due to a carnival, the phones were not working and they may have something on their Facebook page. This is really poor and lazy management. Fix the phones and update the business website page that all the public look at. It’s not complicated.

Positive experience: Great facility to get the kids out of the house for a swim. I just wish they'd open the waterslide more often. The kids are always hoping for it and normally get disappointed.

Negative experience: Can't even call them to enquire. Waste of space

Negative experience: Have had to stop swimming here for my own safety. As a lap swimmer I have been kicked in the head, ribs and other various parts of my body by kids swimming across my lane in front of me and hanging off the lane ropes kicking into my lane. Every single time i swim i have near misses or actual collisions and have had injuries as a result. This unfortunately is a common occurrence and the lifeguards here NEVER police the lanes for our safety, and are all too happy to allow children to constantly swim across occupied lap lanes as well as allowing ball games which again is a, safety concern as i witnessed a lap swimmer cop a ball to the head. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Changing the lane configuration would be a simple and effective solution. Alternatively, closing the far left section to the public (normally used by swim schools) would prevent kids from crossing the entire length of the pool including the lap lanes, to get to this section.

Negative experience: We were travelling through and needed a work out. The lady at reception was lovely, helpful and friendly. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. This gym is the dirtiest gym I have ever been in! The equipment is covered in dust and dirt as are the windows ledges and around the wall areas. Too many pieces of equipment out of action with too many people wanting them. Unsupervised children using equipment and incorrectly. Unsuitable footwear or lack of. Bare feet and elastic sided work boots. Most people people with no sweat towels and also not cleaning equipment.ent after use. Im sure some of these things contravene OH&S. Sorry but there is no ay I could recommend this gym.

Fantastic experience: Facilities are great. Staff are kind and friendly. The children are going fantastic in their swimming lessons and absolutely love their instructors

Negative experience: As a partially disabled person trying very hard to recover some health, fitness and strength, and having been on the end of inexplicably unnecessary and seemingly rude and aggressive attitude from one or two staff members (and a problematic or, at least, questionable pool and lane use policy regarding fast and/or proficient swimmers as opposed to us slow people, in much pain often, trying hard to recover or become vaguely normal), I have felt anxious about returning to this pool for almost a year. And have not done so. I am also not sure as to management policy towards pool bullying. This seems to be the only pool in and around Taree, except for Wingham, which is lovely but has a very limited stand-up area, is unheated, and not open (I think) during winter months (?)..

Fantastic experience: Had a fall on the way into the Aquatic centre, was seen by a staff member who was very attentive. Other staff were extremely helpful and took details of my injuries, called for an ambulance, who then advised that I go to the hospital because of my head injury and other injuries. Staff of ambulance and A and E were terrific. Kept me aware of the situation at A and E. Had scans of my head injury and rib area as well as my X-rays of my left hand. 41/2 hours later told No broken bones ( thank you), but some bruising to rib area, given medication, and allowed to go home. Recieved a call from YNSW Manning Aquatic Centre this morning to check that I was OK. Thank you John much appreciated . Will be going back for my original query. Annette

Fantastic experience: awesome facility - I rely on these and other similar facilities on the road as an interstate commercial traveler that can't drive past without stopping for a spa sauna and shower - can't say I agree that the staff are not doing a great job as I always find them super friendly (some people aren't happy unless the are whinging lol) - way to go Taree, you set the bar pretty high in my humble opinion

Fantastic experience: My family and I really enjoyed the facilities. The outdoor 50m pool was deeper than I expected so thoroughly enjoyed playing in with my older kids. The little water slide was also a fantastic opportunity for my tweens . My parents came with us and used the heater spa as did I until I noticed the sauna, would definitely recommend. Forster Y only has a 25m pool. Barely worth a mention accept explain driving half an hour for comparative oasis in Taree.

Negative experience: No one to open the doors this morning! The staff waiting to open had no numbers to call either!!

Negative experience: “ Get started today” is their slogan. A bit hard when they havnt opened the outside pool after 7 months of being able to prepare. First they said the pool was overchlorinated and that’s a lie as the second time we rang they said they hadn’t heard of that and said not enough staff were vaccinated. There are plenty of clinics with plenty of Pfizer and Moderna available in this town at present. They have had 7 months to get their staff vaccinated. If people don’t want to get vaccinated fine , employ staff who do. Not to mention the weeks they closed around the bushfires even when it wasn’t very smoky in the town. And they shut too early each season when there is at least a month of hot weather left in Autumn and always before the Easter School Holidays. This place needs new operators as the current ones are pathetic and don’t care about the community and the kids in this town. By the way the outside pool would be much more covid safe for the community than the inside pool which is open.

Negative experience: Pathetic. Wanted to go and swim laps in the outdoor pool but was told vague excuses every week I’ve run, “chlorine levels aren’t right”, “waiting on directives from the Y”. Got in touch with the manager today and was told that they can’t open as most of their staff aren’t vaccinated and don’t know when they will be able to open the pools. Sure it’s a personal choice but if you work in a place with heaps of children who can’t be protected and disability groups with people with compromised immune systems it’s selfish to choose to stay working there unless they were still waiting on their second one. Find a job elsewhere that deals with healthy adults and let people who want to work and protect their vulnerable patrons. I don’t want to believe this town is backwards as it seems but I’ll drive all the way to Blackhead or Forster ocean baths to swim if I have to and hope the aquatic centre loses heaps of money as it’s ridiculous. Don’t bother going to their gym either as it’s the most expensive in the area, Snap Fitness and the one near the council building are much better value and kinder staff.

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, clean amenities, extremely child friendly, also includes gym, spa and sauna, both inside and outside pools. Water sprays, sprinkler and slide for kids.

Fantastic experience: Excellent customer service (hats of Ms. Fe) staffing and swimming coaches (a special shout out to Ms. Jenny of Sardine class) and supports through and through. We are truly blessed to have this venue in Taree, NSW 2430. My kids love both the indoor and outdoor pools. Cant get them to stay away from water now :D

Negative experience: Be very wary of using their direct debit facility as they will continue to direct money from your account even when you advise that you wish to discontinue your enrolment (staff do not give you information on their ‘process’ for doing this either’). I definitely got stung and will not be engaging with this facility again. Not very transparent behaviour from a supposed community organisation!

Fantastic experience: Good modern facilities. 50 metre outdoor pool with grandstand and an indoor swim & recreational pool plus gym, sauna, spa and more.

Negative experience: Very poor service in the aquatic centre. On the last day of school holidays the water slide was closed. Being a friday we were told that the slide is closed on a Thursday with no explanation. When we advised the day was actually friday we were told well its just closed today We then progressed to the outdoor 50m pool with my two children 5yrs & 8yrs to find a group of indigenous people cursing profanities on every second (the extremely bad words too) word forcing us back inside as i didnt want to expose my children to that bad language. Nothing was said to anyone from the lifesavers nor carers. Their is no cafeteria with no food. The reception has very minimal supply of chips or chocolate. No sandwiches at all. Again in school holidays and traveling 4hrs to holiday here i find that completely inappropriate. Considering they advertise a waterslide and jumping waterslide its completely inappropriate. We were not notified upon entry therefore id classify it as false advertising! Not worth the money here at all. After 5 complaints from my family they finally opened the slide reluctantly only to be bombarded by the same indigenous children with the same trash from their mouths. My 5yr old kept getting pushed around by the older children especially in the stairs. Again with no guidance from staff my husband was forced to step in and tell the other children to wait. Really not impressed by staff or how this centre is run. Seems completely unsafe.
