Fantastic experience: I've been working out at Zap Fitness for the past two years, and it has been an amazing experience. The gym is always very organised and impeccably clean, which makes it a pleasant environment to train in. One of my favourite things about the space is how much natural sunlight fills the building — it creates such a refreshing and energising atmosphere. The equipment is top-notch and well-maintained, making every workout feel seamless. Negative experience: Equipment - sufficient and fair, Payment handling - not the best. In addition to everything, now they force people to install the app (1.7 starts) on their phones to access the gym. Not talking about all the issues that this app has when it comes to accessing the gym. Fun times.

Negative experience: Do not join, leaving your contract is impossible, I have managed to get into an overdue payment even tho I have sufficient amounts in my bank. After going into store and asking staff I was told I was fine to have multiple more messages to pay. I have paid $40 already and have been asked to pay a further $70 … joke. Hense the bad review
Hi Matthew sorry to see your review. We have tried to advise you that your bank was declining the debits causing your membership to go overdue. You contacted us and we applied your 30 day notice period. If debits decline during this time it will extend out your notice period.
Negative experience: Very bad, 30 days notice is 30 days, so if there are any payments it go over the 30 days. I've done 5 payments in the 30-day notice. But when I signed in, the reception told me that was one month notice. It's not clear enough. This kind of gym is a scammer. Go somewhere else.

Negative experience: I was quite disappointed by the reception I received when entering Zap St Kilda the other day. After a busy and stressful day at work, I arrived at the gym late in the evening with my partner and another Zap member. While I was walking to put my things in the storage area, a staff member abruptly asked me, 'Are you a member?' in a rather rude tone, singling me out, calling out across the storage area and not addressing the other two people who entered with me. I understand the staff member was likely just doing their job, but as someone who feels anxious about going to the gym and being a person of colour, being singled out like that and spoken to as if I had done something wrong at a gym I'd been attending for nearly three years made me uncomfortable. This isn't the first time; I've encountered a similar situation at another Zap location where a staff member politely asked all of us to tap our cards again. Which was fine and made sense. However, in this instance, the staff member managed to single me out and didn't address the other two individuals. I don’t expect much from Zap, knowing you get what you pay for, but I truly didn't appreciate being treated in this manner. The staff member could have easily came up to me and spoken to me politely or asked us all.

Negative experience: I was member with zap fitness St kilda for 1 year on flexi plan and when i moved to another suburb gave them notice 30 days prior for end of membership as per contract, customer service told me i will be only charged 14.99 $ four times which was paid. But after a week i got notice from collector to pay 26.99 $. I called zap fitness again they said i will have to pay this amount as 2 days fall out of payment cycle and within just 3 days got another notice from collectors to pay 34.99$ overdue amount.. At the end, i have paid them 34.99$ for no reason and service which I didn’t even use.

Negative experience: Worst Gym ever. I was having a membership with Jett's and they took over at Albert Park and I have cancelled the membership with Jett's still they charged me for the Gym. Worst.........................................

Fantastic experience: Big gym
Negative experience: My zap experience was such a let down, my partner is a member so she suggested me to go get a membership, upon ringing the bell, the gentleman doesn’t even say hello or greets. He simply says yes and I say I need to discuss the membership, he responds with “ah ha” and I’m still standing at the entrance. I really wanted to ask that do you sign new customers up at the door?. After that, he wouldn’t even show me around and was only answering with one word or 2 words sentences. He so disinterested. I still signed up because of my partner but don’t have any high hopes for future….!

Negative experience: After I told an Indian staff that I was on my first visit and asked him if it was a good time to look around on 31st May at around 3pm. This staff consistently claimed that he could not hear me with a weird attitude. I repeated everything I said more than thrice, he ultimately disclosed that "I can't hear you because of your accent." I have never been confronted with such an insensitively prejudiced remark about my accent. Even if I were to have difficulties with language, this is beyond my comprehension how an employee could resort to such an offensive response. This experience felt less like a bad customer service moment and more like a vocal assault, leaving me feeling disrespected and marginalized.

Fantastic experience: Having tried a few locally, I would say this is the best gym in the area. Nice and open warehouse fitout with a nice mix of polished concrete floors, solid rubber matted, and fake grass areas. always clean and well maintained, and full of good equipment. The facility is large enough that there are plenty of different options for your workout even during the busy times. Very good value for money memberships.

Negative experience: Tried to speak to these guys about a membership, turns out your not aloud to… it would have been nice to have feared like a person trying to get healthy instead of being dismissed and told to go online… the thing is I obviously wouldn’t need to speak to someone if they had all the info online.

Fantastic experience: This is by far one of the best gyms I have ever been too. Charlie is very welcoming and genuine. The customer service here is excellent and the gym equipment is excellent and there's two or more of every piece of equipment. This is a great gym.

Fantastic experience: Always friendly staff when I enter the gym and if I need any assistance. Gym is clean, tidy and has some great equipment. Does get a little hot during summer months! Plenty of space for my local 24/7 gym so I enjoy working out there!
Fantastic experience: The best gym in the zap fitness arsenal for sure. It’s bright, open plan and large array of equipment make training here really enjoyable. It has great filtration and air quality too due to the big air conditioning units, fans and high ceilings. 10/10 would recommend!

Positive experience: Not a bad Zap Fitness location - great range of machines that other Zap locations lack (machine row and some shoulder machines specifically), though not as good as other locations for Olympic bar work (deadlifts etc.). The only thing that really would put people off is that it’s located down a pretty sketchy street and the bathrooms were absolutely foul.

Negative experience: Have tried calling and leaving emails several times to cancel my membership, with no response whatsoever. With all their social media pages constantly posting etc they can't play the card of being unattended like the automatic response suggests. Scammers.

Negative experience: Been trying to contact someone since the start of December as I’m trying to cancel but no one answers the phones and no one responds to the emails. More than happy to take your money but go completely MIA when you try contacting them. Have had to get my bank to block the charges. Absolutely terrible customer service!! EDIT: I can’t reply to the message below but that’s just BS, I have sent through messages on fb as well with the screenshots of the emails sent. And I know they got through because I received an auto reply from one of them.

Fantastic experience: A member here for ~3 years, great facilities! Have been to Zap in Tasmania and in other locations in Melbourne and this is the best one in terms of space, equipment and since they installed AirCon it is a dream in summer!

Fantastic experience: Would definitely travel to come to this gym for workout. Other zap doesnt feel as good and clean as this. They have added Aircon as well since last year I think, which is great! People are friendly here and staff too.

Positive experience: No air-conditioning. But the gym is ok. (Absolutely terrible American RnB trash on the stereo, but that seems common at all Zap gyms)
Positive experience: I love this gym, great equipment, i don’t feel like I get blasted with aircon when I first walk in (in saying that it’s not for the faint hearted on a hot day) music is not obnoxiously loud. Cool open setup. Any issues with it I think are more the fault of other patrons (put weights back after you use them people!!)
Fantastic experience: Love this place!!!! Stairclimber is the best thing about it but even when it's busier it's not too packed and plenty of equipment.
Positive experience: Cracking gym. Has more than just traditional equipment, ie ropes, sprint sled, chin up bars, box jumps etc. Only downside is being busy after work.
Positive experience: One of my favourite Zap locations, large, not too busy even after work, well-equipped and brand new so doesn't have the smell that a lot of Zaps have. They NEED to invest in air conditioning because this place is unbearable on a hot day. The air-conditioned cycle studio but the wifi doesn't seem to be fast enough to buffer the instructional videos so they don't play properly.
Positive experience: Great place to work out. Though their bench press area needs to move since there's a light right up top, therefore blinding us while we make gains
Negative experience: 2 words to describe it - CHEAP and NASTY !!! No aircon, always untidy and no one puts their weights away and that’s frustrating, there’s way too many backpackers who have no respect and The place lacks customer service. There’s lots of other gyms in the area that are far better and yeh you may pay a couple dollars more a week but it’s definitely worth it.

Negative experience: Changing my review after 8 years of being with Zap fitness. They have an exposed panel that covers the cables near the rowing machines in St Kilda Zap on Market Street. My foot caught under it, got stuck and I tripped over the railing. The sharp edge tore my brand new Nike Metcons that cost me $200. Raised the complaint. Had to call back 4 times because nobody would contact me. All they offered was 4 weeks of payments on hold which was about $40 and said it was my fault for not looking after my own property. I was with this gym for 8 years and never cancelled my membership until now!! And this is how they look after there long term members.
