Sydney Pole (Camperdown)

Fantastic experience: I never knew what Pole was before I moved to the local area and thought i'd give it try with the free trials they were offering. Why not! From that first class, I was SO INSPIRED!! Every one of the instructors at Sydney Pole were always so welcoming and helpful plus very knowledgeable. I didn't come from a sports or dancing background so It was a little scary at first, but the more I attended, the more confident in myself I got :D I've been a student for over 6 years now and every class i've attended - i've always learnt something new :D Thanks Sydney Pole for all the amazing studios you run!! Also - Robyn is amazing and so so caring, and Im just so thankful I found Sydney Pole. Lots of love xxx

Fantastic experience: Amazing Vibe and great Space. It was my first time doing a proper Pole Class and the instructor Jess was super friendly and inclusive. Loved how she assisted everyone and made sure we were enjoying the class. Im usually a gym girl, however, was so surprised how you could get an epic workout from doing Pole. While having fun! I highly recommend!!!

Negative experience: DO NOT RECOMMEND! NOT SAFE! INEXPERIENCED TRAINERS that have no idea about anatomy and preventing injury. I went to Sydney Pole when it first opened up a few years back. I still have the injury to my shoulder after all these years. The "trainer" was just another pole dancer with no formal teaching experience, so there was NO WARM UP in that class. 10 minutes after the class commenced students were instructed to do an inversion (grab the pole and pull yourself upside down with legs open). As a former ballet dancer I knew this was problematic because the muscles would not be warm enough. When I pointed out in front of the class, "shouldn't we do a warm up?" The trainer ignored me and everyone did the inversion. I proceeded to follow along when I heard a POP of my shoulder and I grabbed my shoulder in agony as I felt a muscle tear. I left the class. Complained to the owner sitting in reception. She said "I hope you feel better". She took no responsibility and I never returned. After an ultrasound and x-ray I was found to have a muscle tendon tear in two places from attempting the inversion. I sent an email to follow up with my injury and nothing came of it. This "school" is not qualified to be teaching high risk exercise/dance when they don't enact the basic principals of muscle and anatomical safety.

Fantastic experience: The team at Sydney Pole are second to none when it comes to caring about their clients, special mention to Bron my amazing teacher at Castle Hill, Robyn & the lovely Isobel in the operations admin team. The support I have received since joining this beautiful community from the instructors to the students to the admin staff helping me manage the app and always helping me fix any hurdles I may go through regarding payments etc. It is beyond amazing to see companies still running by caring about people and not just making a sale and leaving us to fend for ourselves. I feel truly blessed and am so happy my friend recommended Sydney Pole to me, she has been a member with them for 4 years now. Thank you again Syd Pole and Isi you made my day. Negative experience: I’ve been dancing with Sydney pole since 2020, have completed over 200 classes, and have even competed in competitions representing Sydney pole - my loyalty has never been in question. But over the last year, so much has changed and it’s so unfortunate to see that Sydney pole is not the welcoming family community vibe it once was. Cult favourite classes being cancelled to make way for a beginner focused program, leaving advanced students to select from a minimal amount of inconveniently timed classes plus an administrative ethics that are only profit focused. Reached out to cancel my membership about a year ago due to my favourite classes being cancelled and the fact that I was pregnant and didn’t want to dance anymore - I was with the understanding that my account had been cancelled, only to receive a message on the 26th of July stating my membership would be recommencing and payments would be coming out on the 1st of August, this isn’t even 14 days notice - yet when I tried to dispute this, even tho I was told by a STAFF MEMBER that this was a miscommunication and to email Sydney pole, I was told the 14 day cancellation policy would still be imposed, which doesn’t make any sense. It’s so unfortunate to see my once favourite small community turn into a money grabbing large corporation with multiple locations and no sense of customer loyalty. I wish Sydney pole put as much effort into retaining loyal clients as they did with instructor photo shoots and online programs, as it takes DAYS to get a response. Really upset to be cutting ties with Sydney pole.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful teachers, great people, and super fun! I did the 10-week beginners course and it’s a fantastic intro to pole. My only critique was that it was a difficult routine to follow for beginners. There were a lot more aspects of dance used in the routine rather than the technical side of pole, which I didn’t fancy. Now that I know what suits my style best, I’m excited to try out the Tech 1 classes! The studio is huge, and offers some other great classes including splits, handstand and acro classes! If you’re interested in pole, I 100% recommend giving it a go!

Fantastic experience: Thank you Jayde for resolving the issue with my account being debited for class credits I couldn't use after I gave notice that I was moving to Port Macquarie. I really appreciate the empathy you showed and the effort to make things right, which reflects the same kind, caring nature of the instructors at SP. I miss the SP community dearly and greatly enjoyed my time training there, particularly with Djani, Reggie, Carla and Sophie. The SP instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and always prioritise the safety of their students while at the same time supporting them to achieve their pole goals. Well worth the money knowing that you are being taught correct techniques that will help prevent injuries by industry professionals. Highly recommend SP to anyone who feels like they have hit a plateau in their training, or are craving more variety in their classes. They have so much to offer and there's something for everyone no matter what level you're at.

Fantastic experience: Had a really great first time experience learning pole dancing basics here. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it and wanted to do it again! A helpful tip which I wasn’t aware of is - skin grips better than clothing hence why most pole performers wear less body covering items. It is a bit of a pricey investment and knee pads might be a good choice long term. Anyhow! I loved it and suggest everyone try it!

Negative experience: I went for a trial class months ago and am only writing a review now that my coworkers have pushed me to do so. At the start of the class you are asked if you have ever touched a pole. I informed the instructor that I am a stripper, the instructor proceeded to give the worst look I have ever seen. She then completely ignored me for the rest of the class even when I tried asking questions. Meanwhile she dotted on ever other person there, I can only pencil this down to being antistripper as the others did not receive this kind of behavior. Absolutely horrible considering that the art of pole comes from the SW community! You would not have it if it wasn't for spicy dancers.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely STUNNING studio space. As a visitor, they welcomed me with open arms and were super accomodating. There are so many studios within the space with a reasonable number of poles in each (not too many and not too few) plus yoga space without poles too. Staff were lovely (cheers Chloe!) and I felt very at home in a country I had never previously been to. Thanks for having me!

Negative experience: EDIT: They reached out after I wrote this review and gave me 1 extra class. It's a shame they only compensated me after I wrote this review though, and it doesn't change the frustrating experience I had with their support team or having to cram all of my classes in the last remaining weeks. I've been with SP for over 5 years but it's gotten worse and worse. The teachers are fantastic but the subscription model and class expiry is ridiculous. I recently had a number of my regular classes being cancelled as the teacher was away, but was denied a pass extension from the support team (I had 9 weeks to book 10 clases), and told I should have booked in advance. If you have to go here, I recommend buying casual passes instead and staying away from the membership/bulk passes at all costs.

Negative experience: The membership has become a total rip off classes expire in 28 days and when classes are cancelled it's too bad, sure they give you back the credit for a cancelled class but it will probably expire before you can use it as no extension is given. IN class I was told it was recredited and expiry extended when I audited my account over 13 classes lost and they aren't cheap. When you ask customer service zero fs are given that you can't get the service you paid for the attitude is "our system won't let us recredit your classes" "you just do any other class to use the credit before expiry", but I paid a membership to do a type of class that was cancelled hours before and should be able to use my class credits for those classes when convenient. I have spent a month with customer service trying to resolve my dispute and they just keep charging even after I've left the country and now they say 4 weeks notice to cancel your membership of a $100 penalty. Also warning Memberships can only be put on hold once a year so if you travel too bad keep paying for services you won't be able to use. The instructors are great but the membership administration has become mercinary find another studio.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars is not enough.. I'd give SP all the stars in the sky if I could. My second home and so much more than a dance studio

Negative experience: This review is for the administration teams and nothing to do with any of the class teachers or the venues. I recently cancelled my subscription with Sydney Pole and the absolute ordeal I had to go through to cancel was a nightmare. I sent through my request on the 12th of October and I did not receive confirmation on the cancellation until the 23rd. The notification stated that I would need to supply a 28 day notice period before they can cancel the account. Turns out that 28 days is from when they got back to me on the 23. That is ridiculous. They have taken 3 lots of subscription fees out when I was only told they would take 2 lots out. If you want to attend Sydney pole, it would save a lot less headache buying individual classes as you want to go.

Negative experience: Had my general inquiry messages left on read twice when was simply asking about classes. Felt that was not only quite rude, but very unprofessional.

Negative experience: Sydney Pole policies have changed to profit off the pandemic. They've made classes expire 5 * faster, added a fine to suspend your account and increased the suspension minimum to 1 month, so people isolating for covid have to pay Sydney Pole for it. Even though they've likely suffered a loss of work/income and increased expenses. This also encourages people to just go in if they're at risk to avoid a fine. This is putting profit over public health & is genuinely dangerous.

Negative experience: Do not recommend. A lot of people have been leaving the studio for pricing and not having appropriate level classes. I've started only 2.5 years ago. Loyalty was not in question. The choice of classes keep getting smaller. A half of my classes this term was cancelled after just a week. They keep adding classes for beginners and cancelling advance classes. The studio doesn't seem to want to keep their higher level students. Originally, I wanted to upgrade my level, but they told me they've updated their T&C's so that you only have 14 day instead of 60 days to use your credits if you downgrade your membership. BUT they could not show which part of the T&C's cover this point. (Good thing I didn't otherwise I'd be stuck when they cancelled my classes). When I asked about the T&C's, suddenly the owners wanted to have a 1hour sit down chat with me, then out of the blue say "Multiple complaints from staff and students on your conduct online and in studio, some citing safety concerns due to your behaviour" as the reason to kick me out immediately. This is such dodgy behaviour. I am still featured on their marketing reels. They ignore my request to make sure they delete all videos and pictures they have taken of me. Everyone in the studio knows they used to have photos of me stuck up around promote showcase. They didn't ask permission to do that either. You'll notice there's a difference between the reviews written by beginners vs the people who have been in the studio for a while. If you join, be prepared for snarky front desk girls stopping practice to do roll calls every hour. You'll need to stay friendly with them if you don't want to be harassed.

Negative experience: Never returns calls..Rude staff. Over booked can never book into any classes. Rip off prices they are quick to take your money but good luck booking the class you want. Badly managed

Negative experience: Spacious. Good facilities. Friendly and responsive staff. Most of the instructors are very cool and nice. I had a really good time until one unfriendly instructor embarrassed me during the class, and the whole experience is now going to end in a negative tone. Just want to say everyone is equal and communication with a positive attitude is the key. There is no need to embarrass others. We pay and we come here to learn with a good will.

Fantastic experience: Sydney pole is a wonderful accepting place to make yourself fitter and a healthier person in a wonderful way of dancing. Many different dance styles are offered from many different wonderful teachers. Even if your not that sexy pole person there is a style for you, but also oryx can make you feel sexy in a wonderful way with her choreographies without being va****monster on your face! Highly recommended to at least give it a try and explore yourself!

Fantastic experience: My friend hosted her hen’s party here, so much fun! Steph really made us feel comfortable and taught us some cool tricks - lots of laughs all around. Would definitely recommend a visit :)

Fantastic experience: Very hip spot; modern and spacious. I tried the Aerial Fitness beginners class, with 8 other students. Great community, with students also helping one another. Easy parking along adjacent streets — I parked on Mathieson street.

Fantastic experience: We were here for a hen's night and we had a great time with Steph! The whole process with the girls at Sydney pole was easy, and frankly very enjoyable - I felt like they got to know the bride to be as a person to tailor the night to her. Steph is a great teacher, broke the steps down simply, and made us all feel very comfortable. Thank you Steph, Daisy, and all the girls for making our day memorable

Fantastic experience: This place has become my second home. I went in nervous, having never done pole, body conscious, not fit, not flexible, and not knowing anyone. And thanks to the lovely staff and friendly atmosphere, i have met the most amazing friends and gradually become stronger and more confident. No matter what my body hang ups are, it can now do amazing things and I love it for that. Positive experience: Some classes are fun and really depends on the style of the instructor. The number and variety of classes is great. Cleanliness is questionable - hammocks smell like feet, yoga mats don't get cleaned and pole cleaning cloths are dirty. Had some things stolen which is annoying but not their fault. Takes awhile for emails to be responded to and going on breaks is hard. Difficult to book into practice time on Saturdays.

Fantastic experience: We went with a large group for a Hens party and absolutely loved it! Even though we went for fun, we found it would be great for fitness, and most of the girls wanted to do it again. They offer great memberships deals too. The host was amazing and fun, we would definitely come back here again.

Fantastic experience: I’m one of the first members, I started going there when it was not called Sydney Pole yet and we had just one room with poles. I’m impressed how far it went in few years, the owners made a really good job. Now there are 4 rooms with poles, 3 rooms without poles and many different classes any time. The only sad difference is that walking there I don’t have anymore that family feeling I had before, because there are too many students and teachers now. But if you are new they make you feel comfortable anyway and you have a wide variety of classes between the which choose, whatever level you are.

Fantastic experience: Sydney Pole has definitely had a major positive impact on my self-confidence and fitness. The instructors are very helpful and passionate in getting their students to achieve their goals, whether that be fitness goals, technique goals, learning dance routines or just having a fun time. Before trying pole dancing I was a bit skeptical on what the sport was. However, after my first class, I instantly realised that Sydney Pole is a welcoming and enjoyable place to have a try at something new and different. Not only providing great pole dancing classes, Sydney Pole offers a wide range of activities including: ab work-outs, lyra, aerial silks, dance classes, chair and lap dancing, floor-workout classes and much more! Sydney Pole is great for everyone, no matter what shape, size, or gender. There is absolutely no fear of judgement because everyone starts from the beginning and you work your way up each lesson. Definitely a wonderful place to socialise and learn to love yourself as well as challenging yourself. I would definitely recommend Sydney Pole to anyone and everyone.

From zero strength or flexibility I have been supported by the teachers and the lovely people I’ve met in class to be doing things on a pole I never thought possible in such a short amount of time. Its an incredibly challenging and rewarding sport. I would honestly recommend it to anyone looking to increase their confidence, build strength and fitness, and make friends.

Fantastic experience: I tried the free trial class - I had never done anything like it before, but I wanted to challenge myself and push myself outside my comfort zone. And I loved it! Not only is it great exercise, but the people are amazing, there's such a lovely culture of care and support here. The culture here is so inclusive, doesn't matter who you are, what you look like, whether you're athletic or not, whether you've got kids, the list goes on...

Fantastic experience: I have so much love for Sydney Pole!! The community here is so inclusive and supportive. I've been surprised how much strength I've built over a few months, I've achieved things I never thought I could! It's my favourite place to go when I'm having a bad day (or any day really!) There is an amazing variety of fun classes to suit everyone's style and taste, you will never be bored. I never realised how diverse pole dance could be. The studio itself is beautiful, and the instructors encouraging and very helpful. Cannot give enough praise to Sydney Pole!

Fantastic experience: The community and the class offering down at Sydney Pole is incredible! You will be hard pressed to find something you don't want to do on the timetable. I have been so impressed with their support, encouragement and refreshingly positive approach to body image. Having exercised most of my life, I'm now 39yo and have 2 kids and have never been as strong as I am now. Anyone can do this AND it's so much fun!

I find myself going not just to dance (though their studios and instructors are incredible!), but because I love the people there. It's changed my perception about myself and what I'm capable of, as well as made me more comfortable around other people than I've ever been before. No matter your size, shape or identity, you can find a home at Sydney Pole!

Fantastic experience: I have been to several Pole Dancing Studios, but to me Sydney Pole is the best! Is not just the place per se (although the Camperdown studio is AMAZING, you can hardly find anything with so much space, equipment and facilities), but the people there! I felt loved and accepted from the very first day. The teachers are supportive, they encourage you to do your best and praise your every effort. I wasn't afraid of being myself and express myself. I learnt to love my body just the way it is, to feel strong, not just physically, but mentally as well. And the range of classes available is impressive, if I had time, I would probably attend all of them! They have everything you could want to try, and every class is so much fun that as soon as you leave you can't wait to go to the next one!

Fantastic experience: A gorgeous pole studio. Staff and instructors are extremely friendly and helpful. You always have a support team because even you fellow class mates are encouraging and ready to support you through all your achievements. Likewise, instructors will assist you through nemesis moves, and challenge you to keep you on your toes. Pole dancing allow you to feel comfortable, confident and proud of yourself. There is no better place to celebrate who you and what you can do with Sydney Pole.

Fantastic experience: I love that Sydney Pole is in the inner west and I can walk there! The instructors are great and are approachable and friendly. I'm only in beginners and I'm already hooked.

Fantastic experience: JDPS is a diamond in the rough on Parramatta Road. The studio is new and fitted out with everything pole enthusiasts could want: free wifi, snacks and water for sale, neat and tidy, classic and sassy decor, decked out stretch and pole rooms and a change room that would satisfy Dita Von Tease! The pole room has 2 options in pole sizes so that everyone is happy and the room is surrounded by mirrors and floored with soft carpet. The stretch room continues to grow and change with the whims of the pole addicts who attend class! A dance barre, silks, trapeze barre, tumble mats, yoga blocks and mirrored disco ball to boot. The staff are kind, friendly and always willing to help. Robyn, Mark and Steph, along with the highly experienced and expertly trained teachers, have really made JDPS a home away from home, ensuring that each person is welcomed into the family. The culture of friendliness, support and fun that they have created in this space is a credit to them and makes me very proud to be a part of JDPS.

Fantastic experience: After Dancing at Jamilla Deville Pole Studio for the last 8 months. I have to say it really is a wonderful studio. With amazing supportive instructors. As well as other students who make it not just a dance studio but a community. The Studio itself is just amazing plenty of room in pole parlor for all our tricks and the bendy boudoir fitted with hanning barre and mirros for all our pole conditioning. Both with great sound system and lighting. If you have ever wanted to give pole dancing ago Jamilla Deville Pole Studio is the place to do it.

Fantastic experience: At first I was afraid,I was petrified Kept thinking I could never pole at my body size. But then I walked on into JPDS and was encouraged to do my best And I grew strong and now you should come along So I say YOU- you can do it too, shake your booty, climb the pole and do crazy tricks woohoo... So come along, groove to the songs- and you will learn the vomitron Elle and Glen will teach you as well as Missy And after your first 1st class You'll be apart of the family!
