Bould Move is a premier indoor bouldering gym located on the Sunshine Coast, Australia, offering a unique blend of climbing, fitness, and community spirit. The facility is well-received by visitors for its clean, spacious environment, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent range of climbing challenges suitable for all skill levels.
Many users have highlighted the high-quality climbs and well-maintained equipment, emphasizing the enjoyable atmosphere. The on-site Bould Bean Cafe also garners praise for its delicious coffee and snacks, adding to the overall experience of visitors.
However, some feedback indicates that the pricing may seem higher than average, especially with additional charges for accessing gym equipment and limitations on chalk usage (only liquid chalk is allowed). A few patrons suggested that the facility can get crowded during peak times, especially with families and children enjoying the space.

Negative experience: Online booking system very poor, let me book in on a public holiday even though they were closed. Only found they were closed when I arrived with the whole family ready to go. Go to Rockit Climbing Gym across the road instead, it's like half the price and you don't have to pay for shoe hire.
Fantastic experience: Lydia is an absolute goat, excellent service
Negative experience: The couches and tables were dirty. Not enough easier climbs for kids. Not as good as it used to be.

Negative experience: Expensive. You have pay extra to use the (average) weights area. Liquid chalk only!? Covids over guys. Wall's ok but doesn't justify the cost.

We think this is very reasonable considering our facility compared to others. This is also a day pass, so there is no limit on staying and using the venue unlike many other indoor activity venues. It also seems that you were unhappy with the cost of accessing the fully equipped gym area. You can purchase access to this for $5 at time of entry to the bouldering area. To provide you with context as to why this is chargeable, it is simply because the equipment in this space is of high quality and charging a small fee helps to ensure that people who wish to use the space value it and look after it. We are also working closely with our suppliers of liquid chalk to provide different options to help simulate the effects of powder chalk. We have great setters working in our facility, so it is a shame to hear that you were not satisfied with the boulders. Fantastic experience: OMG!!! What a find!! This is an awesome indoor rock climbing venue, here on the Sunshine Coast! Great staff (big shout out to Finn!), friendly, helpful and very experienced! The on-site Bould Bean Cafe is also great, serving fabulous little nibbles, lovely Kai coffee, ‘rock’ cookies or kibbles…What a fabulous venue all round! Definitely worth a visit!

Negative experience: Not great. The pricing is not only expensive as a single entry, but also invites you to go for their subscription model which is weekly AND has different tiers because the gym equipment isn't part of the basic (cheapest) entry. The boulders are average and you can only use liquid chalk. The kilterboard is really bad, the holds don't have any texture any more. And there are no Gluten Free or allergy options displayed. I can't speak for the coffee as I didn't have any, but most people I saw came in for a coffee and to work on their laptop because it's peaceful and there is air conditioning.

Fantastic experience: Lots of fun and friendly crew
Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym for over a year now. I’ve been really happy with the large space and variety of climbs to choose from. It can be quite crowded at times but that is to be expected during school holidays and peak times. I believe sometimes the difficulty of climbs can fluctuate but it’s good to have a challenge nonetheless. I found bouldering to be somewhat of a fixation of mine before I injured myself, now getting back into the groove.

Negative experience: It’s unfortunate as it could be a really good gym, but it’s pretty clear that the gym was opened by someone who has no clue about climbing. If you’re on the sunny coast I would suggest looking for another gym. Strictly liquid chalk (the staff will tell you off) only, and the hangboard (probably the most important tool to warm up with) is guarded by staff who say you need to pay an extra $10 TO ACCESS IT. I tried to warm up my fingers on it and got told to leave the gym area as it’s “exclusive” - how about take at least one hangboard out of there then. shame someone is trying way too hard to monetise the sport, they clearly don’t have much interest in the actual climbing community. It’s a gym meant for school holiday kids and people who don’t know any better. 1 out of 5 chalkbags.

Negative experience: Disappointing visit. Not very good price for the money. small hall for 26$? First time ever I also see the gym/warm up are not included but for an extra price. was surprised to not have to buy a shower pass on top (showers are really nice though). Wasnt a big fan of the volumes being used. The surface just seemed kinda strange, but tge grips are ok. Also liquid chalk only so if you dont bring it your only chance is to buy the overpriced one at the gym. Thats due to a low quality air ventilation, so if you absolutely hate liquid chalk I would avoid this gym. Regretted setting foot in immediately after entry. Would not recommend.

Positive experience: Nice facility with aircon. Only liquid chalk allowed. $26 entry is a bit steep and the "gym" (normal weight and stretching section that every bouldering gym has) is an extra $10! Very disappointing, especially when you find out that the base level membership doesn't include the gym! The setting was very average also. On the plus there's a very nice and wide Kilterboard.

You can purchase the gym access for $5 if you purchase a day pass. If you come again make sure you grab this deal which can be accessed by buying your ticket online. We also charge access to the gym due to the level and extensive equipment that we have. This gym is larger and more stocked than any other bouldering centre and we hope that guests appreciate the value when they see what is on offer. We also appreciate that those that like to train like to do so without too much interruption or distractions. Charging a small fee ensures that the people are who using the gym facilities see the value in being there. In past experience, if this space is left for everyone to access, it can be very busy and equipment can get unnecessarily damaged meaning a worse experience for others. Regarding the setting, it is a shame your experience was not the best it could be. We have some of the best setters the coast has in offer so are very proud with what we produce. We totally understand that setting is an individual preference so appreciate it may not have been your favourite. Fantastic experience: I had a good time and great experience at Bould Move. The environment is really quite and welcoming, you have all the space that you need to do your exercise on the wall, also the staff is friendly and warm. A really wonderful place to go for bouldering.

Negative experience: No stars. Was really disappointed in this climbing gym, price was really high for what was on offer. Highly risk adverse, had to pay extra for chalk and training equipment use. No loose chalk allowed, only liquid - yet it was very hot and sticky and no aircon so liquid chalk didn't do much. Staff didn't seem to know much about climbing either. Would not go back.

We have passed on the feedback to our maintence team to review the A/C as this is on all day during the hotter months so we are not sure why it was so hot. It also appears that you have had a bad experience with our staff. This is very unusual, as our staff are highly trained in offering the best customer experience possible. They are also all involved in bouldering and or fitness to some level so it is surprising they did not know much about bouldering. Fantastic experience: Me and my partner came here to boulder on a Saturday night. The guy in the reception was super helpful and friendly. There are 10 levels so it’s quite accurate, it’s super clean and big. The showers and toilets are in great condition.

Negative experience: This bouldering gym has some good climbs but for me it was sadly overshadowed by the fact I had to use liquid chalk instead of my own loose chalk. This was a foreign experience to me, as many of the climbing gyms I have been to across the world, including many in Australia and the UK, have never had any issue with using loose chalk. When I asked the staff why they said it was because of the mess and the main reason was because loose chalk in the air isn’t good for the health of their regular climbers. It seems to me they should spend the money they are making off selling their own branded liquid chalk (which isn’t great quality, getting to the last move on a climb and not having the grip to push for that last hold is not ideal) on a decent ventilation system so that loose chalk can be used, it would make the experience so much better! And $30 on a small electric sauna. After climbing somewhere like Urban climb where they charge around $25 for bouldering, top rope and lead climb plus free use of an actual sauna and gym area, Bould Move just seemed like a way to make money and skimp back on the quality of the climbing. Sadly, I won’t be going back again.
Hi Ellie, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. It seems your major issue was the liquid chalk. We are sorry to hear this. There are other bouldering centres that only allow liquid chalk as the benefits to cleanliness and health are becoming more known. Liquid chalk was also mandatory in bouldering locations all over the world for a number of years as a result of COVID so most people have used it before. Our reasons for liquid chalk are the ones you listed, but we also have a food license which does not allow for lots of fine dust in the air. Our facility is one of a few that has A/C which cannot support such fine dust. Most importantly, we do not believe it is fair to subject our staff to the potential dangers of fine chalk powder. The respiratory effects of inhaling dust are well known and documented. None of these can be rectified by a decent ventilation system. The Bould Move liquid chalk we have sourced is good quality without rosin, does not dry out and provides an even coat. We also sell it cheaply compared to many other brands that offer a similar or less quality but charge more. That said, you were more than welcome to bring your own liquid chalk. We would never require you or any other of our guests to purchase Bould Move chalk. We appreciate that you may have found another location that offers a sauna and gym included in your fee - however we were unable to confirm this from Urban. Nevertheless, we believe that doing this devalues the service and only upsets those that see the value in and regularly utilise the services. Whereas those that see the value in these high level of these additional services offered by Bould Move, are more than happy to pay. The level of equipment in the gym and our other services goes far beyond most of these in typical climbing or bouldering venues. So, while a fee for services allows us to offer these services, it also ensures the highest of quality for those that choose to use them. We are sorry that the chalk and the sauna price overshadowed your experience of bouldering and the setting. We have some of the best setters in Queensland and stand by them and what they create so we would love you to come back and try again. Fantastic experience: I had a lovely little climb here this week, and I took my partner's nephews along for their first bouldering session. We all had a great time, there was plenty for them to do as young beginners, and as a more experienced climber they had some really nice problems for me to sink my teeth into. Highly recommended, and when I'm back this way, I'll definitely be back for another session!

Positive experience: Great space with loads of potential but was pretty annoyed that the gym/warm up area is just for members. It feels a little silly for the entry price and is really just promoting injury. We couldn’t actually get much out of our session because of this so the overall experience was pretty disappointing. Surely there’s better ways to incentivise people to sign up as members?
Hi Daniel, Thanks for your feedback. The gym is not just for members! Anyone can purchase a day pass into the gym. We do apologise if this was not told to you. When you next attend, feel free to ask for a day pass to the gym to access all the facilities there. An alternative suggestion is to warm up on the mats and wall. We have so much matting space that warming up here is easy. Many people feel warming up on the wall is a great way to avoid injuries but also gets them ready to tackle those more challenging boulders! Fantastic experience: Seriously epic staff who go above and beyond expectation. Our office have smashed the team in the cafe with over 20 coffees a day the last couple of days, but they have positively filled our orders and a team member even helped carry coffees back to the office for us!! Positive experience: Nice looking facility and air conditioned most days. But I was a bit disappointed that the use of the gym area is a member-only extra and not accessible for casual entries. Not sure where I'm supposed to warmup without.

Fantastic experience: Honestly cannot recommend Bould Move enough - it has EVERYTHING you need from being able to come in for a bouldering climb / class, to gym and exercise classes to help with your mobility and strength led by owner Chris - the Physio! On top of that, they have the Bould Bean cafe - serving up delicious food and excellent coffee (and sometimes even do $2 coffees which is unheard of nowadays) The facilities are all brand new and modern as well. Positive experience: Unfortunate first visit. I have mixed feelings so will go in the middle with 3 stars ... Was very excited for this gym and surely my experience wouldve been different had I not come on a Saturday afternoon but this place seemed more like a day care / play place and less like a bouldering gym. There was enough kids running around and jumping from wall to wall for me to feel unsafe climbing. I can understand children admission from a business standpoint and very much get parents needing a place for kids to let out their energy but there should be more enforcement on saftey. Not just telling the kids, but telling parents to tell/watch their kids. Every other bouldering gym has rules about not being under other climbers or climbing too adjacent ... Having said that, the facilities are amazing and Ill be back during the week but might I suggest increased saftey awareness or having a dedicated childens play hours so climbers who want to train know not to come during those times? Or maybe lack of staff to enforce is the problem? I think its great for kids to learn to climb but children running around is different. Perhaps blocking off half the gym for training and half for a kids playland if thats the type of clients you want to attract ...

Bould Move's mission statement is to provide a fun and safe facility that can create and support bouldering athletes while increasing the awareness of bouldering. We believe youth are an integral part of this and is why we love having and strongly encourage youth to boulder at our centre. For us, it is less about business and more about doing what we can to grow the community to further the sport of bouldering. We do understand that with youth comes situations where they can get excited and sometimes can mean certain safety aspects get forgotten. This can happen more frequently on days (like weekends) where more youth are available to attend Bould Move. That said, all of our staff are very safety conscious and regularly remind youth (and sometimes adults) about the seriousness of safety. We are always taking pro active steps where we can to make sure everyone is bouldering in a safe place. As many youth are new to the climbing community, we do encourage regular boulderers (such as yourself) to help parents and youth understand the importance of safety along with all the positive aspects of our community. We have taken the time to review the day in question and while there were lots of youth, in most cases they were bouldering safely. There were a few occasions, as you mentioned, where staff had to remind some about the seriousness of safety but it is important to understand that it is difficult to prevent this before it happens. All we can do is inform parents and youth about the importance of safety before they begin and then remind them if there is any unsafe behaviour. If you do not feel comfortable bouldering around youth, there are also some facilities that are 18+ only. Another suggestion could be to select times you visit bouldering venues that are outside typical hours where youth attendance could be higher. For example we have a number of members that attend weekends before 10am or after 4pm. We truly hope that you are able to come back to Bould Move another time. If your opinion differs, or you have some further feedback, we would really appreciate you to update your review. Fantastic experience: A really good experience, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. We took 8 kids for the first time aged from 6 to 10. They were shown the safety fall and told the rules and they were on the floor climbing in no time. Whilst it looks like you'd be done and out quickly, it's just not the case. The kids spent an hour and a half trying the colours, coming up with challenges and challenging themselves on one's they couldn't do. Great food and Cafe, the vibe is amazing, the toilets were clean and everyone there was friendly and welcoming... considering there were kids running around... we will definitely be back and think this is a great place for ages 6 to 50+ from no experience to the well experienced. One piece of constructive criticism would be the login, whilst I understand the weiver for each needs to be signed, having a better UI/UX for groups, adding each child 1 by 1 is painful. A single page with a plus row, enter details and one sign works the same way. That's my only feedback. Everything else was very good.

Positive experience: Overall this place is amazing. Unfortunately there is one girl there who thinks she is climb Queen of the world. My son is sight impaired and a couple times wondered closely to other climbers. This girl who was off duty spoke so appallingly to him and when I told her off she answered me by telling me he's done it 4 times. My boy wears very dark glasses so she could tell he had issues but chose to yell at him in front of her friends. She just kept the confrontation going by suggesting I was a bad parent by not supervising properly. I have four kids!!!! We have been to alot of other places where people have gone over to my son to talk to him like he's a human being rather than yelling at him to "get off the wall!" We've had dealings with her at the entrance before which I let slide. Just a lil to cocky for my liking. I'm sure her opinion of events will be very different.

Fantastic experience: Look they really nailed it. The setting is spot on, technical yet powerful and the mats are just right to save your knees and back. Kilter board, and a members training area to boot. Killer coffee to top it off. Though being liquid chalk only does severely limit how hard you can go on many climbs.

Fantastic experience: A very cool place. This is more than just a bouldering experience. Come for the bouldering and then add to this the fact that they have a gym, sauna, shower and toilet facilities, a great cafe and cafe area. From the cafe enjoy coffee or a recovery shake, have a snack while you train or have fun the muffins are great. Comfortable seating for the spectators too. Friendly staff to help you out along the way with what ever you may need. They is also a pro shop on site for all you climbing and health needs. Several different membership options available for what ever your needs maybe, from casual to full out move, train, climb. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic experience: Most premium bouldering gym I've been to. I've been to about 10 different climbing gyms of which 4 are bouldering only, including the big players on the Gold Coast, Brisbane & Melbourne. This is truly the first bouldering gym where they've taken everything that is needed to make the perfect bouldering gym and just done it right. - The quality of the entire place, including holds, walls, floors, training gym, and even the toilets, is the most premium I've seen. - The setter 'Sato' is a magician, the progression through difficulties is perfect, incorporating technique, strength and enjoyment. - The staff are incredibly friendly. The only issues I found were it's a bit more expensive than other gyms, they didn't accept powder climbing chalk and there aren't any great photos/videos of the gym on their website/socials! It's a beautiful place and I can guarantee more people would come for that price if they saw how great it really is. I spoke to the owner and I understand the move to be so close to Rockit wasn't their plan, but I don't think it will affect Rockit as they're targeting different demographics of climbers. For the most premium bouldering gym on the Sunshine Coast and in my opinion Eastern Australia - Come to Bould Move.
