Negative experience: After advising the young lady that there is no point reporting on the condition of the showers as every time I report on the condition of the shower I was once again placated with “ we will report it to the cleaners “ nothing happens so if I write reviews that the last time it took 5 days once again it has been another 5 days Toilet paper on the floor no soap in the shower attention to detail lacking

Negative experience: Very inflexible with contract and sign up options. Zap is advertised as an accessible and convenient gym but trying to sign up today was like pulling teeth, disappointing experience. Edit: have called said number. Advertising material very misleading re. hidden fees.

Positive experience: Lacklustre gym, you get what you pay for I guess, can be very busy and hard to get a workout done

Negative experience: My partner and I overheard one of the Zap Fitness Elsternwick personal trainers talking to another Zap Fitness Elsternwick staff member, repeatedly referring to something as "retarded". As members of a minority group, my partner and I found the experience to be unsettling and left us feeling uncomfortable knowing that if Zap Fitness staff are okay using terms like "retarded" than there is potential to hear other derogatory terms related to minority groups (including our own) when we use this gym. My partner ended his membership because of this. I have some time left on my contract so I reached out to Zap to see if I could end the contract and have the remaining fees waived because of this experience and they denied waiving the fees.
Negative experience: Gym is always messy! Weights and bars are all over the floor, music sucks! Atmosphere is very dull, you will see more people doing sets of texts then weights been to a few zaps they have some good gyms but Elsternwick needs a facelift!

Negative experience: It’s the bare minimum. Equipments good enough in terms of variety but really frustrating when the popular machines have cracked/torn seats. At least put some tape over them. Staff is also nowhere on most days. Would be nice if people were working the staffed hours it says they do. Stuck in a contract but going to change gyms once that’s done. Not speaking for all Zaps of course. Just this one unfortunately.

Negative experience: Was looking for a new gym. Signed up and registered for a trial. Showed up on time and waited 55+ mins… no one showed up. There is no greater way to disrespect someone’s time.

Positive experience: I really like this gym, good parking and 24 hour convenience. The only thing letting it down is the treadmills and bikes often have problems with the tv screens. The headphone jacks often don’t work and certain Chanel’s do not work. I have mentioned that to them over the years but they have failed to have constant maintenance.But other than that it’s great! Highly recommended

Positive experience: Reasonable value for the price. Although it could hugely improve with a more regular deep-clean (vaccumm clean, waiting chairs clean and general maintenance). It would give a much fresher and nice feel

Negative experience: What a ducking joke. Signed up For week to week, paid the extra, wanted to cancel so they said I have to give 30 days notice, so I had to pay them extra four weeks for nothing haha *** insert response from zap *** My response: Haha really? I cancel the week to week membership, because I don’t want it anymore, but I still have to pay a whole month haha anddd have the nerve to say “you could’ve used the gym in that month” hahaha but didn’t I cancel my week to week membership… haha what a jokkkkeee
Hi Rhys with the 30 day notice period you do get debited during your notice period but you also have access during the notice period. Your membership has been cancelled since December 2022 and has not been debited since then :) To discuss further please contact 1300 927 348
Negative experience: I have been trying to cancel my membership for a few weeks now and I keep getting charged and my emails and phone calls do not get a response from anyone.

Positive experience: Always has friendly staff ready to help out if needed. Suits what I need, and is generally always kept clean. It's convenient and affordable. Not sure why the privacy screening has been taken down, but the gym now seems exposed and would also be something that would put people off coming there, especially at night as far as for safety concerns. Dirty chairs need replacing and would love to see some inspiration wall art on the grey walls to brighten up the place , but apart from that I'm enjoying my time there. :)

Fantastic experience: Only 24/7 gym in Elsternwick/Elwood (definitely fills a much required need in the area)... Great gym, good value for money, well sized (you dont feel like you are working out on top of other people), plenty of equipment which is well maintained.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service, no number to call and emails don’t get replied to. I’ve been trying to cancel membership for weeks now, they keep taking my money. Better to pay an extra $3 a week and join a gym that cares about its members.

Negative experience: Poor customer service.. I've get charged hundreds of extra because my credit card got updated. When I tried to call them they told me, they are not working because of the lockdown. Today when I call them to discontinue my membership, they charge me again for another two weeks. I feel like it's unfair.

Positive experience: The gym it is fine but it is a shame about how they don’t pay attention to the people who go there... during these times is one guy who is always sweaty with no towel, just screaming every time that is doing something and even coughing with no covering himself.
Negative experience: Signed up unfortunately between the two waves of Covid in Vic, asked to cancel 3 months ago and now notice they have been charging my account weekly since then. Apparently talking in person, on the phone and via email isn't a clear enough indication that I don't want to give you 180 dollars for never stepping inside the gym for that time. I'd like a refund.
Negative experience: I went to this gym for many years and recommended family and friends to do the same. All is fine until you want to cancel. It has been a never ending process of emails, unanswered phone calls and promises NEVER followed through with. I never write reviews but BEWARE! I have had a debt collection agency calling (automated threatening voice) and texts with NO OPTION but to pay a false and massively overcharged debt. Their treatment of so called members is disgusting once your circumstances change.

Negative experience: Wont answer their phones or email in response to cancelling a membership during COVID. I've been trying to cancel the membership since March 2020. My membership should have expired after a year, yet they are still trying to collect 'debt' from me during a pandemic, as if they expect me to use a public gym. Very poor customer service, do not recommend at all. If you're thinking about joining the gym DO NOT, other gyms are so much better as its IMPOSSIBLE to cancel.

Fantastic experience: I personally love the sleek look to this gym. Awesome area! I slip in after work for a quick workout and chat when the admins are working.-- Sam inparticular is a lovely and hardworking guy at the Elsternwick location that offers great service and a good laugh. Zap is just an EASY and cheap gym to be a member at. --Has everything I need equiptment wise and I've grown little outside friendships here with some of the other members too. Good vibes!

Negative experience: I am a member who enjoy several Zap gym around Melbourne and it is so disappointed that they changed the old machines which it was better quality brand than the new ones TechnoGym. The treadmill machine is useless, all move around when you try to run and no space for put your belongings. I will go tomorrow to another Zap to see if the quality is low in Zap Elterswick or in all Zap and I will leave another review. Depend on that I will cancel my membership ... really disappointed ...

Fantastic experience: Easily accessible . And clean
Negative experience: First day back at the gym today and it’s obvious they’ve sold some of their old equipment or swapped it for cheaper equipment. The cycling bike I used today was ‘TechnoGym’ and no longer ‘LifeFitness’. The bike seat is very hard and wide which as a female is painful to sit on for longer than a few minutes. It’d also all touch screen now so nowhere to put your phone down other than the touch screen which interferes with your exercise that’s being tracked. Also the handles/bars are so hard and not at a comfortable angle so you have to sit upright the whole time and can’t lean forward on your arms to rest. Honestly really disappointed at this and will be changing my membership to Another gym that doesn’t skimp on quality.

Fantastic experience: Great price. Friendly staff. I’ve been a member of this gym for ten years, and in my opinion it’s more than you would need in a local gym. Respectful and welcoming environment. Ideal for people that spend a lot of time in the gym…..or those just starting out.
Positive experience: Hi Zap Fitness, Thank you for replying to my feedback. A couple of suggestions to get those extra 2 stars: - the treadmills are run down - TV channels are not properly programmed or receiving transmission on most treadmills; Internet doesn't work on some treadmills; headphone jack is broken on some treadmills. - everyday cleaning is fine; but the 'deep cleaning' should be done more regularly - marbled pieces of dumbbells along the dumbbell weight rack & neglected dusty spots here and there.

Positive experience: Actually a pretty small space. Though it is crammed full of equipment, it does manage to feel pretty cramped. I'd hate to see what it's like during a busy period. Like all the other Zap Fitness gyms, it's very clean and well lit with great security.

Positive experience: Great gym, however very upsetting, and inconveniencing, when people are sitting on the machines and, holding them for a long time while they are using their mobile phones! I hope that you can put a sign to stop that, as there is a couch in the gym where they can sit and use their phones as long as they like...

Fantastic experience: This Gym is fantastic, being a member of ZAP Glenelg my Partner and I were honored to be able to use it whilst in Melbourne. The Gym has all the latest machines, and lots of them, giving a great balance between Weight Lifting and Cardio. The staff were extremely accommodating, friendly, and very helpful ensuring we were fully aware of all the features. We will definitely visit on our nect trip to Melbourne.
Negative experience: Who unplugged the ethernet cable (on the music touch screen)? The screen was manually removed (to unplug the cable), because it's impossible to unplug with the screen on the backplate. Whoever unplugged it, please reconnect it :-)

Positive experience: Good gym with a good vibe. But it is very crowded after work.

Positive experience: A small gym that has the basics and surrounded by food. This gym is a minimalistic gym with the bare minimum, but almost just enough. The aim is to drive down the maintenance and staffing costs to lower fees. Has a good basic selection of machines, including rowing, cycling, running, step and elliptical. Plenty of weight machines, boxing bag and weights. No water fountain, BYO water, pay for it at the vending machine or get it out of the tap in the change room. 1 shower is provided and plenty of parking is available. Air conditioning is at the gym and music is done via an app called Crowd DJ. Music will automatically play, but you can also select music from your phone.
Negative experience: Nothing great and no option to put your membership on hold. Small but clean tho

Positive experience: It's your standard 24hr gym and has decent and always clean facilities. My only problem is that they only let you suspend your membership if you have a medical condition with a doctor's note. This is ultimately the reason why I ended up cancelling my membership.

Positive experience: Not the most modern equipment but ZAP Elsternwick has everything you need for a work out and it’s open 24 hours too!
