Fantastic experience: As soon as I walked in I felt welcomed, listened to and supported. Thanks Chantelle. Have had a great introduction to my first gym membership and love the happy, friendly staff when I walk in Arlia, Phoebe and Narelle, to the amazing reformer Pilates teachers Heather, Rachel and Lovena. Amazing supportive atmosphere. Love going. Well worth the cost, for me, to have spotlessly clean bathrooms with everything hygiene and camaraderie of all the fantastic, strong inspirational women who you see daily. Love your style Fernwood. Positive experience: Recently joined as the only gym in the local area offering a creche service. Enabling many mums and carers the opportunity to exercise. Thank you! I am happy with my decision! Lovley staff, facilities and classes (+ heavy weights if you want them!). The team at Fernwood have been very accommodating and friendly since day 1. Looking forward to many workouts to come.

Negative experience: Having only been a member of this gym for a short period I am incredibly disappointed that on multiple occasions I have been filmed without warning or permission during group fitness classes. I can only assume this is for content or socials. However - in a place that claims to be all bout and a safe space for women - this contradicts everything they promote. Previously - in any other gym I have attended when filming was warranted a warning was issued and members given the opportunity to opt out. I do not wish to be filmed or put on social media during a class without such opportunity! More so - the person filming is a member! And so not only has my personal images been used without my permission these images now exist on a personal device - and not one belonging to the club itself. I can only imagine why this person needs videos of a class for their own personal consumption? I feel very violated and even my safety compromised. There are many reasons a woman would chose a female only space for recreation and this behaviour disrespects every single one of them. Regretting my membership… please avoid while you can

Fantastic experience: I spoke with Mia to start my journey at Fernwood and I couldn’t have had a better experience. She was so lovely to speak to, explained all of the terms and conditions thoroughly and she was so patient. The customer service was 10/10 and I’m so excited to start at Fernwood thanks to Mia.
Negative experience: Had such a horrible experience with this gym. They lack transparency when getting members to sign up and then they get the manager to come help them and they are often caught Twisting their words After the contractor signed. My mother and I joined for Pilates and wanted to buy our Sessions separately, we did not want to pay any additional fees to so the lady wavered the fees for the Door pass. Once we paid for our sessions, we found out that due to holidays We would not be getting the amount of sessions That we have paid for, according to our hectic timetable And had to compromise to finally find certain placements that were convenient for our busy schedule. They claim To being a flexible gym and happy to assist the members. But why is there so much complication with our sessions and how come we are not Provided the relevant information that we need before we sign contracts? Hm please do better, at this rate I will be wanting to see other ways I can get my complaint Heard. Thank you.
Hi Aditi, thank you for your feedback. We take these matters very seriously and do everything we can to help our wonderful members. As it was explained to you when you sign up to a trial you do not get every benefit of a membership - like 24 hour access. This was after your decided not to proceed with a membership, our manager came out to assist with questions that you both had and was able to book you both in for all of your trial classes within the timeframe. We are sorry that the trial has made you think our services are worth 1 star. We hope that you enjoy your upcoming classes or if you would like to discuss membership options to receive all of our amazing member benefits please do not hesitate to let us know.
Negative experience: I’ve been with fernwood for over 5 years and enjoyed it. I have been month-to-month for years now and decided to change gyms to one that would better suit my needs, only to be shocked when told that in order to cancel my membership I needed to pay two whole fortnight’s worth of payments at full price. I was told my membership can’t be cancelled while it’s on hold and paying a reduced amount, and have to take it off hold and pay full price for a whole month simply to cancel. This means despite not using the gym at all in the next 4-5 weeks I have to pay full price. I find this absolutely appalling and it has completely tainted my experience at this gym. How can you preach that you appreciate your “valued members” yet charge them this much simply because they are doing what’s best for their health? I have recommended this gym for many years and will no longer be doing so. Incredibly disappointed.

We are very transparent about our terms and conditions, when someone cancels it is always your next two debits notice in which you still have use of the gym services you paid for during this time. Negative experience: On 24th July, I emailed Fernwood Ferntree Gully about cancellation of my Pilates membership( which i had recently joined), because of my knee issues. The next day when i went to the receptions to ask the confirmation, i was told two transactions will happen, 27th August and 10th August, notice period on two weeks and i am allowed to come till 23rd August. And they did two transactions 27th July and 10th August, knowing i am having health issues and i had just joined them for not even a month. I went with it being their policy. Now i see one more transaction happened on 24th August, and the extension is happening till 6th. This is utterly ridiculous, they are just here to target money in any which way, this is the third transaction after the notice email was sent on 24th July. .

Negative experience: Very bad experience I feel I am trapped in by signing up for their weight loss program that is now not refundable as well . I was chased constantly with phone calls when they had to make a sale to enrol me in the session and now they are not accomodating me on times suitable to me very disappointed and it’s absolutely unreasonable to give 12 hours notice when people can fall sick and wouldn’t know that much in advance :(

However our HYPOXI program at the club is very limited (one person per machine at a time) and when joining we go over all the times our studio is open. However to ensure everyone get's a fair go we do need to uphold the cancellation policy. We were really happy that you continued your journey with us after this review and wish you all the best for your future journey in health and fitness.
Fantastic experience: Great place to feel supported and get fit. I think its rare to find a gym community that cares so much about their members. The manager and team members remember names and greet every member with a warm smile. Theyre happy to stop what they're doing to help. You can feel the difference in this gym. I also have a fernwood closer to home but this one is just another level.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful gym. I felt like I was coming home when I recently rejoined. Staff are friendly and cannot do enough to help. I am actually excited about going to the gym. I have never felt that way before. But that is my experience of having returned after trying other places when I relocated to live elsewhere. I am so glad I can now return to Fernwood at Ferntree Gully. Back in the hood.

Negative experience: Literally, they are GREEDY EXPENSIVE MONEY HUNGRY GYM because they did not provide the facilities according to price other gyms are better than this one. unfortunately, I signed up 12 month contract. After a few month I just try to contact with staff to cancel my membership because it's just the wastage of money for me. First they told me they can't do that after that they told me I need to pay $514 at that time I give them my new credit card details and told them I just cut all the $514 at that time they just cut $377 and now they just text me after 20 days your remaining balance is pending which is $167. I block my card again because of them. It should be $137 . Its there fult why they did not take the full balance at that time now they are increasing that balance and when I try to contact them they did not reply to call and mails. And they did provide the details regarding my contract and did not give receipt of past payment on request. Literally very unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: I have been a Member at Fernwood Ferntree Gully on and off for 10 years (had babies, jobs and other commitments during down time) I have joined back up after having a baby in Lockdown) and I just have to say I absolutely love this club and all the ladies that attend are friendly and motivating. It's lovely to walk in and see smiling ladies getting it done... The trainers are AMAZING and teach you proper technique. They have a Creche that all my kids have attended, and my 2 year old is now attending. The Ladies in the Creche are professional, and offer the kids a wide range of activities to do. 10/10 service, I would Highly recommend this club if you are interested in getting fit, making friends, and having a great time while working out! Negative experience: Awful place. Discriminates. Then treats you like garbage after. I will make sure every person I know will be to stear clear of this company. “It’s not discrimination if the government says it’s okay” was said to me by the club manager.

Negative experience: Was a member several years ago. High fees and not great services. They over-filled classes and a lot of the classes had little cliques, on more than one occasion I grabbed a class pass and was questioned as to what I was doing in that class, as if I weren't allowed (bellydancing and body combat, both open classes). I moved out of the area and cancelled my membership. I told them that the reason that I was cancelling was because I was moving over an hour away. They tried to talk me into staying, offering me a discount and free dietician appointments, they were not listening to what I was saying, I was moving far away. I ended up calling up and speaking to someone in the Fernwood head office to cancel my membership. This year I have been receiving frequent emails and SMS messages about re-joining. I have selected opt-out every time and I still continually get those messages. Even if I still lived anywhere near them there is no chance I would go back after the constant annoyance of them repeatedly contacting me and seemingly no way to opt out of their marketing texts and emails. Another one just now and the opt out link leads to a broken page.

Negative experience: GREEDY EXPENSIVE MONEY HUNGRY GYM TLDR: Do your research. There are other gyms that are cheaper and better quality. They only care about you up until you have signed up. Review: I have been a member at this gym on and off for over 15 YEARS (loyalty and location). The QUALITY OF FACILITIES HAVE GONE DOWN EVERY YEAR. - toilets dirty - tap broken - sauna removed - face towels removed - many tv channels removed - equipment needs maintenance - change room always smells disgusting - toilets dirty - tap broken - change room smaller to accommodate for a childcare room that I have never seen used - at one point they forced all members to pay for a 24 hr pass and cut staffed hours to reduce their own cost. Incident: I moved into a place with a gym during lockdown. I sent them an email giving MORE THAN A MONTHS NOTICE TO CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP. After the lockdown I was contacted saying I still have to pay for an additional 4 weeks. I asked to speak to a completely useless manager who just kept emphasizing that its 28 days not 1 month. Now they are threatening to refer this matter to a debt collector.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of Fernwood ferntreegully for quite a few years now. It’s the only gym I’ve felt comfortable being in. The fact it’s an all women gym, the staff have always been amazing. And I’ve met an awesome new group of people along the the way, it’s like a little community! The trainers have been great motivators for me over the years. Through access to PT, group fitness, Hypoxi ,the challenges and just the gym floor equipment I couldn’t ask for more. I love the fact they have a crèche I can access for my daughter when I attend a gym session so I can do something for me! I can’t wait to get back into the gym after this lockdown.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member with Fernwood Ferntree Gully for over 5 years now , prior to this I’d been a member of a few other gyms but none of them have compared to here. The staff are all amazing, friendly and helpful. The variety of classes available and the varying times means they have something for every persons schedule however what I love most though is the quality of the classes and the instructors, there’s too many amazing ones to name. I still remember how kind my pilates instructor Brooke was throughout my pregnancy always providing me modifications so I could still take part right up until the end. What’s most impressed me of late though is how amazing they have been during lockdown, providing virtual classes for us when we’re not even paying membership fee’s, they truly are committed to empowering and enriching the lives of their members. I’d highly recommend to anyone considering joining :)
Fantastic experience: Fernwood Ferntree Gully is a fabulous gym. Whatever age, fitness, shape or size you are welcomed not only by the professional friendly staff but also the members many of whom may well become friends. Really supportive and lots of fun while still working out. Love it.

Fantastic experience: Great facility, always clean and well maintained and the A/C is fantastic. Been coming for months, happy with the price, every trainer and staff member is accommodating, professional and friendly. So very satisfied with joining this gym.
Negative experience: Very expensive, poor quality equipment.. everything is always broken and takes years to get it fixed and working again, staff aren't great and the PTs arent worth it.
Fantastic experience: Prefer to pay the extra $2 a week compared to other gyms for all the exclusive female only facilities and all hours access. I really enjoy this gym
Fantastic experience: Amazing facility. The staff are totally approachable and always happy to engage. For a novice like myself, there is zero judgment and support is always there when needed. The fees are reasonable and the atmosphere is simply magnetic. I would absolutely recommend Fernwood Ferntree Gully to anyone.

Negative experience: It is very expensive comparing with other gyms in the area. I am not happy with the contract and the staff behaviour. I feel I have been cheated as the staff didn't tell me about the cooling off period and she put the contract date on the weekend which was not a business day and when I wanted to cancel my membership she said that I have to pay the full cancellation fee. I'm paying membership fee for nothing now! I regret went to their gym for only enquiry and ended up with membership contract that is very expensive and I am not using it even. that is the worst gym; they just want to sell you their membership and calling you a thousand times to make you join them, once you joined they even don't care about you and all that things that they have mentioned are coming with the package. they didn't call back or giving me another appointment that was included in my package.

Negative experience: I randomly decided to join a competition that fernwood was doing and gave my mobile number (biggest mistake). Literally not even 24 hours later someone called me to tell me how they had a deal going on for memberships and if i could go in the next day for consultation.. meanwhile the competition i entered was for potentially winning free membership for 6 month or a year.. so wouldnt they wait until the draw date then contact me if i didnt win? Anyways i told her i was off sick and that i was going to check my work roster and maybe go in next week. I genuinely wanted to join a gym at the time and i thought why not fernwood. The next day they called me again but i could not answer because i was sick. They called again 4 hours later. The day after they called me again 3 times! This went on for a couple of days calling me multiple times in one day. This is what you call harrassment. I had to block all their number to stop their phone calls. Literally so annoying and no one would ever join your gym if you continue doing this.
Negative experience: Signed up (unfortunately) to a 12 month contract (although was pestered constantly when signing up to go for 18 months). The gym itself is tiny and if you are the majority that goes to the gym during peak hours, you'll often find yourself struggling for equipment useage. Group fitness classes are often hideously over populated, left classes several times due to not having space. Equipment is very poorly maintained. Complained several times that certain machines werent functioning correctly and others were damaged, only to come in week after week and find the same machines still not fixed. Contacted the gym via email to cancel membership as the equipment is not up to scratch, only to be told by management that they have a certain amount of time to complete repairs before i can get out of my contract without cancellation fees and paying the remainder of the contract. Forwarded her on my original emails from several months prior, only to have her read the emails and not reply. Managed to get into contact with another lady at their head office and it was only then I was contacted in return to say my membership had been cancelled with no ongoing fees. I find the staff at Ferntree Gully to be incredibly unhelpful (there are a good handful there) and are totally consumed with their 'cliques' within the business. You also pay an excessive amount for a gym that has very minimal facilities and a tiny change room that was effectively halved to make room for a daycare area. Would recommend any other gym to anyone who will listen

Negative experience: I am so angry and upset with how insensitive the management is here. I can’t afford to continue my membership and so I deferred it until I could decide a course of action- weeks later I find my contract and discover that it also extends my membership. I am furious that they don’t mention this anywhere after joining and when I called to speak about this they absolutely did not care. Not to mention that with a cancellation fee they want me to pay an extra month, meaning 280$. What a joke. I will never join a Fernwood club again!!
Fantastic experience: All staff are helpful, respectful and cool to talk to. Highly recommend this gym for all women.
Negative experience: No after sales support.. once you become a member, you are on your own, worst customer service ever. I tried different classes.. some are ok but I just felt some instructor arent friendly..some treadmills has problems with the audio. The process to cancel membership was complicated and it's not been communicated clearly, I spoke to 3 different staff within the period of 2 weeks and all did not take effort to make things smooth, in fact all tried to prolong the process and in the end my direct debit will be charged more than it should. If the communication was clear, that will not happen. I felt that I was pushed to sign whatever I have to sign to end the contract, stating that they will not process the cancelation of my membership unless I sign the form. I want to stop them from keep deducting my direct debit and felt intimidated, soI sign the form. After I sign the cancelation, Joyce took it, said nothing and walk away. I was still seated on a chair at the foyer and was totally confused and I asked, that's it? She turned back and said yes that's it. I left the place feeling so low with the way they treated me. Shop around peeps, I thought I was given a discount but the price I paid after discount was not so valuable at the end. Plenty of other gyms offer cheaper and better service with better facility.
Fantastic experience: The staff here go above and beyond the call of duty, Joy (the manager) is an absolute delight and makes me feel like family and every time I walk in the doors I feel at home. The trainers are experts and are caring and knowledgeable in what they do, I especially love Jodie. There are plenty of groups and equipments for all levels of fitness and I strongly recommend any woman to go to this gym.
Positive experience: Love Fernwood, and love this centre, not much to complain about
Negative experience: The gym itself is great. Equipment, staff and facilities!!! All is destroyed by the way they handle their memberships and communication.
Fantastic experience: I love this gym. friendly staff, great facilities and and environment that all women can feel comfortable working at their own pace or supported if wanted. Highly recommended.
Negative experience: An absolute financial nightmare!!! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH FERWOOD!!! Be warned!
