Negative experience: I have been a member of Anytime Fitness Maroubra for 4 years, and while I have enjoyed the facilities, I strongly recommend avoiding this gym under its current management. Recently I inquired about freezing my membership for an upcoming week with AF Maroubra’s manager Troy. Troy informed me of a $2.50 fee to put my membership on hold for the week. This fee had not previously been present in the past four years of my membership, though I was informed that it has been in place for 15 years. When I mentioned that I was unaware of the fee and needed time to decide if I would like to continue with freezing my membership for the week, Troy dismissively remarked, “What’s your other option?”. Over the past year, my membership fee has increased from $16.95 to $22.95 per week. While fee changes are not uncommon, I am personally aware of numerous members of AF Maroubra who have not had their fees increased past $18. Due to the constant fee increases, I informed Troy that I needed to reconsider whether to continue my membership, to which Troy sarcastically commented “All over $2.50?”. As a result of the conduct displayed by the manager of AF Maroubra, Troy, it was personally necessary for me to make the decision to cancel my 4-year membership. Additionally, I have also informed the members that I have previously referred to AF Maroubra of the situation. To anyone considering a membership at this gym, I strongly encourage you to explore your other options, as I was encouraged by Troy.

Fantastic experience: Subject: Urgent Resolution Needed: Incorrect Billing and Account Freeze Issue To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the handling of my membership billing and the subsequent miscommunications that occurred. I am a member at your Maroubra location and recently faced an issue that not only affected my financial situation but also caused significant inconvenience and stress. On Friday 5th April 2024, I spoke with the general manager regarding an outstanding balance due to my wallet being lost and my direct debit failing as a result. Given my ongoing health issues with Ménière’s, which are documented on my account, I was assured that my membership could be temporarily frozen at a rate of $2 per week. This was suggested to alleviate the financial burden while allowing me to clear the balance gradually. I specifically confirmed if this arrangement was possible despite the outstanding balance, and was told affirmatively that it was. Before I ended the call I requested to pay $50.00 over the phone. To my dismay, I discovered that over the weekend following our conversation, not only was the $24.00 weekly fee charged, but an additional $250 was taken for the total amount owing. This action directly contradicts what was agreed upon and has resulted in severe personal financial distress, including affecting my ability to pay rent on time. Upon addressing this issue on Monday 8th April 2024, I was informed that the account could not be frozen due to the outstanding balance—a stark contrast to the previous assurance. The explanation provided seemed not only inadequate but also dismissive, suggesting a reversal of charges that would take 30-48 days and might not even be approved. The lack of responsibility and transparency in managing this situation is disappointing and unacceptable for a service-oriented business. The approach taken by the General Manager has not only compromised my trust in your gym but also impacted my financial standing. I urge you to address this matter with the urgency it demands. I expect a full refund of the incorrect charges immediately and a confirmation of the account freeze at the $2 weekly rate, as initially agreed. Failure to resolve this situation satisfactorily will result in the cancellation of both my and my partner's memberships. I appreciate your immediate attention to this urgent matter and await your prompt response. Negative experience: My experience with Anytime Fitness Maroubra was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. I visited the gym to inquire about membership prices and deals. They initially presented me with prices on paper, including a deal for 4 weeks free. However, during the conversation, they mentioned a supposed offer for 12 weeks free if I visited the Maroubra location at least 8 times a month. This seemed like a great deal, albeit a bit suspicious as it wasn't documented anywhere.As a former member of Anytime Fitness, I still had my old key and asked if I could use it for the new membership. They agreed but mentioned that I needed to bring the key the next day to sign up. When I returned with my old key as instructed, they informed me that it was linked to Anytime Fitness Kensington and I would need to purchase another key for $89. This inconsistency was frustrating, especially since I had to deal with the inconvenience and cost of purchasing a new key.To add insult to injury, when I was about to sign up, they suddenly claimed that the offer for 12 weeks free didn't exist, despite mentioning it during our initial conversation. The manager's rude attitude towards me further compounded my disappointment. It's evident that this gym employs deceptive tactics to lure in customers and wastes people's time.I now understand why they refuse to provide prices over the phone – it allows them to manipulate customers with false promises and hidden fees. I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with Anytime Fitness Maroubra and to thoroughly scrutinize any deals or offers they present.

Negative experience: Don't bother calling. They won't answer your call and they won't call you back. When I called anytime fitness in Randwick They also didn't have any regard for people's time. They refused to give me a price over the phone unless I came him. Too much of an effort to join either gyms. Joined Plus Fitness in Maroubra instead. I called and signed up on the same day- much better service.

Fantastic experience: Nice and modern gym, the trainers who work there are all super friendly and the gym is clean. Even on peak time not deadly busy even tho I recommend coming out of peak just to enjoy some space and freedom. 5/5 stars with good vibe - can highly recommend.

Negative experience: Gyms great and all but why is it always so hot in there I don’t understand, Everytime I come here the air con is on but it’s still so hot, especially while training it’s hotter inside then outside, please just put the aircons in good use and put it on colder

Fantastic experience: Brand new gym with brand new equipment. Cool inside with the air conditioning. When you first enter it looks a bit small with only two rooms easily visible. But when you find the third room you realise it’s a good size gym with a good range of the typical equipment.

Negative experience: I became a member at Anytime Fitness (AF) early this year, specifically at the Randwick branch, where I was paying $15.95 per week under an 18-month contract. However, I encountered a rather unpleasant surprise when I visited the Maroubra branch a few times and found out that my membership had been shifted to Maroubra without any prior notice. To my shock, the new price of $21.95 a week had been applied, and I only discovered this through an automated email. Upon questioning Darren Mino, the manager, about this significant fee increase, his response was far from satisfactory. He simply stated the TnC and It is what it is and suggested that I should consider training elsewhere if I wanted to move my membership and avoid the higher fee. To make matters worse, I never received an updated contract reflecting the new pricing, making the entire experience appear highly unprofessional. Comparing AF Maroubra's fees to other local gyms, such as Snap and Fitness First, it's clear that AF's pricing is on the higher side. These other gyms not only offer more competitive rates but also provide superior facilities and additional classes. While I can't fault the quality of the gym itself, I must caution others about hidden fees and sudden price hikes, even when you're locked into a long-term contract. In light of my experience, I would advise potential members to explore alternative franchisees if they seek a more transparent and cost-effective long-term membership solution.

Negative experience: Rude staff - I went to ask about prices tonight (they don’t publish online) and the guy at the desk wanted me to complete a full page worth of personal information just to step in the gym! He just told me the weekly rate but refused to talk about joining fees or card/fob fees without filling in the form. I left in complete shock. Other gyms in Maroubra and other locations will gladly tell you the price and show you around in a much more friendly and professional manner. Loads of other 24/7 and other gyms in Maroubra - Anytime need to up their game.

Fantastic experience: I started going to Maroubra anytime fitness over a year ago. I always enjoy going. It is busy enough to have a vibe, but the equipment is usually free enough (ie not too busy). I use the open space a lot to do stretches and agility exercises. The TRX is a good piece of equipment, and there is pretty much all the equipment I’ll ever need. I’m middle aged, but feel comfortable in the environment. And I feel fit thanks to this great gym.

Fantastic experience: I started going to the gym a few months ago, and without the support of the staff there I wouldn't be making the progress I am. Darren, Will and Jamie have all been genuinely keen to assist whenever I needed help with form, program advice or even just a casual chat. I go in the mornings, and I haven't ever found it to be so busy it's offputting. Can't comment on the evenings though. Absolutely no regrets choosing this gym to start my lifting journey!

Fantastic experience: It's in a residential building complex, confusing if you're a first time user. It's shaped like a C, it feels cramped but it still does the job. Update: 21.10.24 I use this gym quite often, and it's bloody awesome. Central to all that you need, in the area. The staff are awesome, polite, firm and very fair. Customer service is above and beyond, especially. I'll mention her name once I get it. I'm not a stalker, but from observation she is very aware of what's going on. Shout out to the team on shift as of right now.

Fantastic experience: A great gym that is great especially if you need to rehab. Edit: This branch has the works --- a real total body workout (and bonus points for the trap bar, the leg machines that you can use for iso/rehab). Really clean as well, not to mention a great staff.

Fantastic experience: Definitely the best gym in the Eastern Suburbs. They keep everything clean, tidy and you see the machines technicians doing the maintenance often. Staff is friendly and welcoming. The only thing I don't like is they play music loud, I know it's a gym but, most people wear headphones because we want to hear out music.

Positive experience: Been going here for a few months now. I always go after hours so I can’t comment on the staff but thought I’d go through a few things for anyone looking to join. The gym is a small gym. Basic equipment, nothing too great or exciting. Because it’s a small gym, its hard to exercise in private (especially if you rely on going late at night, there’s always people there even up to midnight). Not sure if it’s just the late night workout people or what but there are so many people who will sit on equipment and be on their phones. Drives me crazy. Understandably it is after staffed hours so it is not within the staffs control, however I have never been to a gym where this has happened so often. Again because the gym is small, you have to wait until that person eventually moves on. The lockers constantly smell like weed, I can’t stand the smell so that bothers me. There is also a bus stop out front near the entrance which attracts certain characters. If you are a female and go there at night, it can be intimidating at times. I have had a few men make comments towards me when entering the gym. It is a basic gym, gets the job done if you are into very normal/basic workouts. Just expect to wait around for a pieces of equipment and constantly be around people due to the size of the gym.

There will always be some things outside of our control such as members on their phones outside of staffed hours, and people walking down the street, but we do respond to all feedback that we can control such as smells. We love the fact that members can train up to midnight and beyond. We are a club that is available to any body, any time.
Negative experience: Advised them to cancel my membership 4 month ago as I wasn’t vaccinated, keep me charging $16 every week without my knowledge from my credit card. I stop them stealing from my account last week and today I received an email from debt collector advising I should pay $16 otherwise they will take it further!!!! Such a ugly behaviour!!! there is so many other Gym with a cheaper price and better customer care. NEVER RECOMMEND. Don’t waste your hard earn money here.

Positive experience: Having the pleasure of being a member since Day 1 of the gym opening it has ticked all the boxes for me - operational 24/7. Being able to train at 5am in the mornings knowing the gym is clean and those that want to train v need to train are in there giving it a go. If there's 2 things that need to change in gyms in general is that they should be: 1) Mobile Phone Free & 2) Actually use your towels in the gym. But unfortunately you will find these "muppets" everywhere you go. Gym is well run but Ian, Darren and the wider team.

Negative experience: If you want attitude , poor service and complete lack of understanding about their own gym , then you should join anytime fitness Maroubra. I would rather drive 3 suburbs away and go to a different location then this one given how petty and immature they are at running a business. They seem to think the customers are there for them - training of staff is poor turnover is high and the atmosphere is terrible. Stay away.

Fantastic experience: I wish I had joined this gym sooner!! I love it- the team is so helpful and friendly. From the moment I joined I've been happy with the customer service and the quality of the gym. Simmy has been attentive from day one and really friendly. My PT (Kesem Turner) has done wonders for me!!! If you haven't join, you're missing out :)

Fantastic experience: Outstanding standard of equipment, always clean, ideally larger amount of space out of any anytime fitness gyms within the eastern suburbs. Management team are super accommodating and friendly to all, always up for a chat to check in on you and your goals. The personal trainers at Anytime Maroubra are awesome, assisting you to be the best version of yourself. Not only a gym but a wonderful community to be apart of!

Fantastic experience: Personally I've been a member of Anytime Fitness Maroubra since the day it opened without a doubt it would be one of the best gyms to train at. The staff at Anytime Maroubra are absolutely amazing and ensure to make every single member feel comfortable and a part of the family. The gym is spread out across 1 wife and spacious level allowing yourself to maneuver across easily during workouts and not waste time. Plenty of equipment, neat and tidy bathrooms and change rooms which are well maintained. Highly recommend Anytimefitness Maroubra to be the gym to join!

Fantastic experience: Great gym, great staff! Also I strongly recommend Kess whom is a PT at this gym. Her knowledge with the human body, training programs and exercises is second to none! She really helped me out of my training slump and I've never felt better in and out of the gym thanks to her.

Fantastic experience: Been at Maroubra for the last few months. The staff have been so lovely and welcoming despite me constantly losing my key! My PT Kess has been amazing too. She's constantly pushing to help me get the best out of our sessions. Today she helped me conquer my fear of box jumping... I feel proud that I've added that to my 'can do' list. She has a wealth of knowledge and she's willing to share it openly inside and outside the gym! I'm enjoying the gym more than I ever have.

Negative experience: Was walking past and only had 5 minutes so wanted to check out the space and what machines were available. I was not allowed to look without filling in forms and getting a brief from a sales person. So wont be back.

However we do have a process in place that requires a form to be signed to be shown around the gym for health and safety purposes whilst being accompanied by a team member. Fantastic experience: Have been a member at this awesome gym for over two years. AF Maroubra offers quality equipment and exceptional staff including trainers. I was privileged enough to have Kesem Turner as a PT for more than a year and she was exceptionally informative and played a massive role in my 26kg transformation. Staff coupled with facilities allowed for a unique training experience every session and kept training fun, from functional fitness within the 'FitClub' group training program to your fundamental lifts this gym has you covered.

Fantastic experience: I have been training with Kess for a few months now at Anytime Fitness Maroubra. From the get go she was a professional, friendly and very approachable coach. Since training with Kess, I have felt more comfortable in my training knowledge and abilities, confidence in my self and a sense of pride for the changes she has helped me make in my fitness and lifestyle regimes. As a rock climber and ice hockey player, Kess has always written sport-specific programs, ensuring I am targeting the areas that require the most attention and development. I have enjoyed every minute of our training, and I couldn’t recommend Kess enough as both a personal trainer and friend.

Positive experience: The gym is quite large, spacious and good equipment. However, weights are not put back in the correct places/order, plates are left on barbells and benches after use. Staff and most members are friendly, but some members have poor gym etiquette.

Positive experience: This gym is great. Usually very clean, and i have never been when it has been so crowded that i cant get a machine, bench or space to work out on. Plenty of Cardio machines including eliptical, spin bikes and treadmills. Seperate stretch area, and plenty of free weights with decent weight dumbells (Up to 50KG). About 5 showers, that are normally pretty clean. I would give 5 stars but some of the shower heads need repair.

Fantastic experience: To me, Anytime Maroubra is one of the best gyms I've ever been to. It is very clean and tidy, well maintained, high security, with friendly and helpful staff. Especially Anthony, he helped me found the lost property that I didn't expect to have it back, well done.
Positive experience: The gym is great, got everything I need. Its not crowded and you don't have to wait for machines. But the toilet smells like mould, its wet and slippery all the time.

Fantastic experience: Changed from another gym and started to come here about 3 months ago. Facilities and people are amazing, not to mention the staff who are as friendly as ever, whether you are seeking any sort of advice or just wanting to have a chat. Would recommend to anyone in the area, you wont regret it.
