Highfields Aquatic and Fitness Centre

Fantastic experience: Love this place! Such a clean fresh pool, great amenities and food at the tuckshop. Fantastic staff and well kept grounds.

Negative experience: Everything in this review pertains to the gym. Everything about this gym is lacklustre. Disappointing, second hand and poor quality machines leave the gym feeling tired not you. Management refuse to improve or take on requests despite the pleas of their patrons. Most staff (not all) are rude and unknowable and seem to be counterproductive towards your fitness goal. The final slap in the face is the $17 casual visit cost. Spend your money wiser and go across the road to Snap Fitness or drive into town, I have and I have never regretted the 30mins extra travel time.

Negative experience: Our experience here today was completely unacceptable. Our son who is 3, had his party here and we received nothing but abuse from the life guard, to the point he was swearing and threatening us. There was no consequence for his actions. We defiantly will not be returning to this centre and will not be recommending this centre.

Negative experience: Constantly poor management in regards to swimming lessons. Incorrect times, days, and fees charged. Swimming instructors were absent, staff at the desk were oblivious as to what was going on. Very annoying experience. Wouldn't recommend.

Negative experience: Me and my friend went to highfields pool today and I entered the pool by doing a back dive. The female life guard told me that was not allowed. I apologised and acknowledged it was wrong. My friend then asked if a another dive was allowed and she responded with "Are we going to have a problem today, because my tolerance is not high today" He was just making sure we were abiding by the rules and she was absolutely rude. Wont be returning.

Fantastic experience: My family enjoy swimming and going to the gym here. I personally love the crèche all the ladies who work in there are so fantastic especially as it took a long time for my daughter to settle in.

Negative experience: If you’re going to close the pool to the general public for an event (eg carnivals), it might be an idea to update your website or even have signage out the front… a courtesy would be in advance! Not impressed.

Positive experience: Specifically relating to the pool...Lovely, relaxed atmosphere with a nice facility surrounded by nature. Decent pool for kids (plus slide) and also grown ups. Great place to go for a fun, family swim.

Fantastic experience: Great experience at Highfields Fitness and Recreation Centre. Pool was wet, the slide was exhilarating, hot chips were BUSSIN, basket ball courts were absolutely dunktastic. Eshay free skatepark with some gnarly jumps. Great place to spend the Saturday arvo with friends and family.

Fantastic experience: Great pool to take kids to. Has cabanas and plenty of shade, clean change rooms, small water slide for little kids. Coffee good plus takeaway. Close to town supermarket and heaps of free parking , no time limit that I saw and cheaper than manky milne bay pool in town. A splash n play area like south ripley for little kids would top this off.

Negative experience: Awkward experience... uncomfortable and unwelcoming.. I’ll start by saying, the facility is well maintained, however... This was a second visit to the pool, so I was aware of their shower before use policy. I used the parents room facilities as I visited with my 2 year old. There is a shower in the parents room, which we utilised, it just so happens that I towel dried us before entering the pool so that I could apply sunscreen and prefer not to dunk my hair in chlorinated pool water, therefore did not wet my hair in the shower prior to getting in the kiddie pool (but did leave it in a high bun.) Upon my entering the pool I was slightly abruptly reminded I must shower beforehand to which I countered, I had. And then a moment later another staff member even more abruptly indicated, “sweetheart, you were told to have a shower before getting in the pool,” the tone was obviously unimpressed and undermining. I immediately countered that I had used their parents room facilities. Apparently, personal hygiene must be proven through a “looking wet perspective”, not an actual, being clean one. I did see upon further inspection that one particular sign did have a “shower wet” note and a different one had a “swimmers and hair must be wet” note, so I understand I didn’t not adhere to the precise letter of the policy, however had that been communicated in a less abrasive way I would not have felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. I tried not to just leave and ask for a refund so that my son could enjoy himself which was the purpose of the visit, but yes, all I could think of, of course at that stage was, “I want to get out of here.”

Positive experience: Pool is 25 metres. Small but OK. Has children's wading pool. Has shaded area abd barbeques. Has lifeguard. Food at reception not good. Provides playing area for community organisations at minimal cost.
