Fantastic experience: Started training here in Dec 2023 and has quickly become my favourite gym ever. The reception team have gone above and beyond to create an environment that’s welcoming and supportive. Coach Ryan has made a huge impact on how I view training and I couldn’t recommend him more if you’re starting out in the gym!! Cam, Tay and Ryan in reception are some of the friendliest and most genuine people I have ever met. Cam is super knowledgeable about nutrition and supplements and coming into training it was good to have advice on what I should and shouldn’t be doing to optimise results. The gym itself has a big variety of equipment and the facilities are clean. Pilates is a nice bonus too! Couldn’t recommend more

Fantastic experience: I dont know where all the negative reviews come from I have been with this gym back when it was world gym and now when its powerhouse. Great atmosphere, wide range of equipment, staff ALWAYS friendly. Travis is a good bloke and always has taken time out of his day to answer any questions I have had. Unfortunately im leaving due to location but Id be back in a heart beat if it was feesable. Will miss the powerhouse crew.

Negative experience: Don’t attend this gym, the staff & the manager are absolutely disgusting and trying to cancel your membership is ridiculous and so difficult apparently, the communication is shocking. Rang up 5 times due to the staff each time saying that it had been cancelled when it hadn’t been!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to this gym from last couple of years. So much space and equipments. The best thing is reformer Pilates which is included in the membership..

Negative experience: Imagine being the manager of the gym and shouting at a customer for not using a gym towel because they couldnt see it. When the customer showed that they were in fact using a towel the manager continued to argue that it wasnt a "gym towel"... it clearly was. So rude! Cannot believe they would speak to customers that way.

Negative experience: The worse gym I have ever been to. I had to cancel my membership a week after when I joined the club because I got such a bad anxiety as there was too many people there and I couldn’t use many equipments around the club. They lost my receipt because I payed cash and they completely ignored my request for the refund. The manager wasn’t helpful at all and didn’t take responsibility for the mistake that his staff made in regards to my money.I don’t recommend this place at all.

Negative experience: Worst gym I have ever been too, I used to love coming here but it’s now awful. I am now Never greeted, never farewelled and the place is extremely dirty. And when I went to cancel the Manager John was the rudest “manager” I’ve ever come across EVER. Customer service here is disgraceful. Let alone the owner yelling at a member so the entire gym could here. Too World Gym I go.

Fantastic experience: Invited to join a Saturday morning HIIT class by a friend who is a member. It was a great workout and everyone was super friendly and encouraging - the trainer had a great vibe and funny! I don’t live local but would thoroughly recommend anyone who does, consider joining this gym go check it out plenty of room and something for everyone!

Negative experience: If you know your way around a gym or want to pay a trainer $50 plus a week, this place may suit. Anything in between I'd suggest you find another gym. I've been waiting 2 months for a finalised gym program and still waiting. I was willing to pay their going rate for a program and some sessions to get me started but no one was interested or got back to me. One of the managers eventually provided a provisional program to get me started but he continues to miss his own deadlines in providing a finalised program. I can't comment on classes they provide as have not attended any. Fairly large set up, with lots of equipment, most of it a mystery to me at this stage and potentially to remain that way.

Positive experience: The gym is lovely! Very fresh equipment, however the cleaning products could be better set out as there’s a spray bottle and a blue cloth that has been used with everyone’s sweat in it? Also it wouldn’t be hard to say hello to members that come in…I said hello to I would assume the manager as she’s been there for years and she blatantly ignored me…I’ve heard rumours of the managers giving off bad vibes and never felt that way until today..please take the time to actually welcome the members as they’re the reason you have a business still going. Otherwise this gym is awesome 10/10 but customer service could definitely be improved.

High quality functional room, classes, dedicated leg and upper body rooms, abs room, cardio machines, Reformer Pilates, Yoga, boxing room. Has to be seen to be believed. Travis and Julianne have a vision and execute fantastically, and they never stop improving the place!

Fantastic experience: I recently joined PowerHouse Gym and I absolutely love training here. There is so much space and a large variety of equipment that it always leaves me wanting more! The dedicated room for training legs is also amazing. I definitely feel like I've "levelled up" my training since joining here.

Positive experience: Great gym. Supportive members and personal trainers. Tamara's classes are a real highlight and so supportive to all levels of fitness. The availability of the creche is so good and Shayleen has such a positive vibe in the room and on the front desk making everyone welcome and taking an interest in there journey. Not seeing her on the front desk as much definitely has had its impact. I can't wait to see the evolution of the gym with its renovations.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym! The staff, facilities and owners are the reason I return. I have been to many gyms but nothing like this one. In gyms I have been in previously you would be required to pay for a PT session just for a simple chat and demonstration of equipment and use however I am approached by PT’s/owners particularly Trav the owner and Vai who have helped me with form and technique as they are just walking through the gym. I currently do PT with Vai and have never been happier, Vai has so much knowledge and it shows. I have lost well over 20 kg since joining Powerhouse Gym southside and this is because the gym is so welcoming, the equipment is 10/10 quality, clean and the staff are so friendly. I honestly would not go anywhere else. ☺️☺️☺️☺️

Negative experience: Basically powerhouse gym equipment is good but their management and contract agreements are terrible. They ended up charging me an extra 3 months on my contract after telling me my contract ended after 6 months. I had moved homes and away from the area. and it was agreed by jewels that my contract would end in august ( which was 6 months). Basically tried calling a million times and was always put through to another manager who kept telling me that the owners had “forgot” their conversations with you. And you’ll have to wait until the 9 months is up to be finished ( which a new manager set on my contract and extended it, which I had not confirmed). Was Told I would get a call back from the owners to discuss this, which I never received. So the lesser manager cancelled my contract and said you should be grateful. They said you were put on a contract you were never meant to go on. Which apparently was my fault. Anyhow terrible experience, don’t recommend signing up with them. Lost about 120$ because of poor management integrity.

Negative experience: As with others, I tried to cancel my membership in January when they changed to 'Powerhouse.' Cancellation was confirmed via email but I kept getting charged. Have tried to speak to the owner and manager about it at least 6 times over 6 months without response. I asked my bank to refund me the money they incorrectly charged me which they did. Unfortunately now I have ARMA (debt collection) chasing that money back. Again I've tried to speak with the manager and have received no communication whatsoever. I'm shocked and how unprofessional this whole process has been for me. I've referred them to the Fair Trade Ombudsman and anyone else going through the same thing should too.

Fantastic experience: I'm a trainer at another gym in Brisbane and trained here to try out some of their equipment. Powerhouse had a huge range of equipment for all different styles of training and experience levels. The staff were super friendly and the members were also very friendly. Would recommend training here and I look forward to my next visit.

Fantastic experience: Really great gym. Only issue for me is one of the industrial fans in the leg room overlaps a light causing the light to flash when you’re using the equipment underneath it which gives me the worst motion sickness

Negative experience: Some issues with billing however, Powerhouse Gym has friendly staff and a well kept gym. edit: Julianne assisted me with the billing issues and I have edited my reviewing because of her efforts. Thank you. Further update- after saying there would be a refund, Julianne never actioned the refund and then has not responded to any communication.

Fantastic experience: This is no less than a 5 star facility. Incredible range of equipment. Friendly helpful staff. Talented trainers. And an atmosphere of acceptance and passionate people all there for one purpose, to train hard and get results! This is my favourite gym ever.

Negative experience: Cancel a membership and give 30 days notice. One would expect that once you have done so, your membership would be cancelled. Not with Worlds and they display no customer service in terms of accepting there mistake.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Still charging us even though the contract has ended and we've written many emails about cancelling and signed documents to cancel. Not interested in putting customer first or listening to customer.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Plenty of equipment to use. The gym is well maintained and kept clean. Weights and other equipment are returned, unlike other gyms in the area

Negative experience: I don't normally write reviews but am so appalled/shocked with how my partner's membership cancellation was handled. It took 5 months to cancel his membership!!! He gave them plenty of notice and had to visit the gym 5 or 6 times to try and stop the payments from coming out of his account. Once the payments finally stopped he wasn't reimbursed for anything either, even after speaking to the owner in person. Quite frankly they have been stealing money from him and getting away with it. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT JOINING THIS GYM.

Negative experience: Had a membership here which was supposed to end in February, had paid it off and also called to confirm that the membership would be ending and there would be no more to pay, was told that I didn't need to sign any forms such as a cancellation form as I'd paid the full amount of the membership. It is almost April and I am still being charged. When I tried to contact them they said they'd get back to me... And still nothing... Absolutely would not recommend this place, what a bunch of scammers.

Fantastic experience: One of the best equipped gyms I've been to. Having the chance to travel recently I've been to a few other gyms around the country and World Gym Southside is one of the best. Very well equipped, the staff are always friendly and helpful. The range of supplements is amazing. This place always makes me push my limits when I'm training. Great job guys.

Fantastic experience: Very very impressed all round with the versatility of the gym. Couldn't go wrong getting a membership here. Will always be able to functionally train around my injuries. Very apparent the owner cares a lot about the well-being and progression of the gym and it's residents.

Negative experience: After paying for my gym membership for twenty months, I brought in a friend for the first time and requested a free session so she had an opportunity to test out the facility. The lady at the desk denied my request and charged my friend. I think this is totally disrespectful and greedy. Im cancelling my membership immediately.

Negative experience: Decided to pick up a worlds travel pass and come try out the new functional fitness room (as I currently train at Worlds Gym Ipswich). To my surprise, the “fitness room” is for their members only, taking away 40% of the gym, and 90% of the equipment used by a “crossfit” trainee like myself. Moved my session into the leg room only to find out that there is to be no deadlifting either, as that is for the other part of the gym as well. Pointless visit - with rules and policies that make no sense.

Fantastic experience: Great equipment, cleanliness, good maintenance, a well thought out layout. These are all things I expect in a gym. I wasn’t expecting the warm greeting, the level of service and the welcome which created the atmosphere for a great experience. Well done.

Negative experience: No air con, essential for an Aussie gym

Fantastic experience: My local gym, great facilities, friendly staff and a friendly atmosphere. There's alot of big guys here but no one is aggressive or intimidating towards anyone else and again are very friendly from my experience.

Positive experience: The Gym is massive, bigger then Snap, Ultra etc. You can get travel passes for free to visit another world gym other then the one you sign up with. Southside provide free supplement tests frequently, family days and have some of the nicest gym staff around. The gym is always clean, thanks to the cleaners every night who work while the PT's arent in... (Always a staff member on site to help you out or purchase an item). Ive had weeks where payments have been late, and have still had access to the gym. Cons- The only con I find is the contract (Again, this is signed and you become aware of when joining the gym). Its 12 months, primarily at the 1 gym... Moving away does have a lower cancel fee though. (If you read my lower star rating and am wondering why ive changed, pls read below). Reason for the 1 star rating was my card being canceled at gym, it sounds bad at first until the cleaners informed me on the reason being was to talk to the owner on why I felt the gym was bad and to fix the issues I was facing. Which I also had messaged to me, but my old number... I also was allowed to continue gym that night and wasnt actually banned. I will post pictures next time im around gym.

Negative experience: Was a member at this gym since it first opened and decided that I would cancel my membership today as I work permanent part time and study full time. Also I now live out of home and have other bills the money could go towards to as I have been paying 13.50 weekly since signing up when it opened. The lady at the desk was lovely and I was going to end up staying at the gym unfortunately the guy at the front desk changed my mind as he said you know what will happen if you do cancel basically referring to that fact I will get fat and said it's a 24hour gym and there is no such thing as no time. I think it is a poor representation of the gym and it is a form of belittling someone I felt like I was talked down upon. I wish I canceled my membership a long time ago after today.

Positive experience: I recently bought a Groupon deal. There were a few mishaps with the administration side of things but the team did well to rectify those. Overall the gym floor staff were really nice and I liked the classes.
