Fantastic experience: The gym is always super clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and group class teachers always have time for a chat and make adjustments to meet you where you’re at. I especially enjoy my PT with Vanessa who works with my body and challenges me, but not so much that o crash and burn. The last 3 and a half months have made a significant improvement to the quality of my whole life. Thanks team fernwood!

Negative experience: Cancelling a gym membership is usually a painful process, but oh my god. Don't join this gym if you ever plan to cancel your membership.

Negative experience: When you are ready to start, please carefully consider whether to sign a contract, because when you leave halfway, you need to pay a large amount of unfair liquidated damages; I paid an expensive fee! This is greedy! I will never go to this gym again!

Negative experience: Have had nothing but issues with over payments, reception staff not booking in personal training sessions, also with them booking group training over your personal training sessions as they work in 2 different systems. And then leaving early due to financial reasons the hefty $300 exit fee plus after giving a months notice they still charged extra. Must have just cancelled after a payment cycle. This gym is greedy. Also multiple times the machines were broken and not maintained in my time

Negative experience: Instructors will touch you without permission during classes. Punitive measures against all members such as removing doors off lockers due to a missing key. Doesn’t give you the option to cancel a class last minute and then penalises you for it without any warning.

Fantastic experience: Love the friendly atmosphere. Trainers take a personal interest in you which I haven’t found else where. Makes going to classes enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: I LOVE Fernwood Hornsby for many reasons but the two at the top of my list are: 1. My personal trainer JOSIE is the Best!!!! Working out with her is what keeps me coming back to the gym, and I only have one session a week but the motivation and the confidence I get from those sessions gets me back to workout on the machines and with the weights on my own. 2. The group classes are fun and effective. I’ve tried a few, loved them all. Happy to have finally found a gym and be a member that actually attends.

Fantastic experience: I just realized there was a place I can release my stress since February. I already thought I didn’t have time to go to the gym, but now I have ME TIME at Fernwood. It is so nice ☺️

Fantastic experience: Very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. All ages attending. I attend the mid-morning ‘lite’ classes. so friendly middle aged to older women but you can ramp up or down your own pace. They have early morning and evening classes too. Sonia is a fabulous instructor and they have many others. Lots of classes to choose from and loads of equipment if you want to come and use that. Only women so only ever a couple using bikes or treadmill or sone weights at a time. Not crowded. Lovely change large change room with showers and toilets. Very reasonable rates. My physio was impressed with how I’d improved my shoulder in just a few sessions; great for recovery from injury or ongoing prevention and maintenance.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Fernwood Hornsby for over 20 years and have always found it to be a supportive and welcoming environment.My many deferrals for medical and holiday reasons were explained clearly and handled well. As a 75 year old woman I am keen to maintain my bone and muscle strength. Fernwood's variety of group classes, specialised equipment and dedicated personal trainers have helped me with that goal. Many years ago a member called Betty became my role model.She was 93 years old and still attending the gym.I thought if Betty can do it, so can I! Thank you Fernwood!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the gym for a couple weeks and I really enjoy my experience here. It is always clean and good quality for everything. I can have complimentary breakfast, tea or fruits from the food bar which is always a nice treat before my workout or after, which gives me a lot of energy to power through the day. There is a variety of equipment and it is always nice and clean. I definitely recommend Fernwood gym.

Fantastic experience: The gym has been my saviour. I was severely depressed due to workplace harassment and was out of work. I knew what I needed to do to get healthy but had no motivation. An idea came to me to join a gym sfter 20 years of being away from it. I investigated five local gyms and FERNWOOD was on the ttop of my list. I joined straight away. I absolutely love the care shown to me by the staff and all the members are so friendly. My new job is to get fit to return to the workplace so I attend nearly everyday, sometimes twice a day. I don’t dallly at home. I now get out of the house quickly to get to a class and enjoy my shower and breakfast at the gym. It’s my home away from home. FERNWOOD I am so grateful I found you!

Negative experience: Horrible gym experience. When you try to leave your contract for an injury, they dont inform you of your right to leave without fees if you have an injury making you unable to use the facilities for more than 12 months. Only said that they could freeze the contract even though that’s not true. They are extremely greedy and do not care about your experience. Do NOT sign up for this greedy business, they do not care about you, just trying to make profits and money.

Negative experience: If you try to leave even after your contract ends and you are on a month to month contract (which was stipulated on sign up) they will whack you with excessive fees and keep charging you as they have UNDER THEIR OWN DISCRETION LOCKED YOU INTO ANOTHER FIXED CONTRACT WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OR AGREEMENT!!!! If you refuse to pay them because it is within your legal rights, they will send debt collectors after you. AVOID THIS GREEDY DESPERATE GYM. Facilities are tiny, cramped, 1 machine only and if it's broken it takes forever to fix or disappears and never replaced. Only good thing is it's 24hrs. Never experienced this from Virgin Gym, who wished me well many years ago when I left the area even thought I was still on a contract. I am back now and happier than ever.

Negative experience: They just want your money, inconsiderate towards your financial and emotional health. They will manipulate you into staying a member when you aren't in the position to do so.

Negative experience: Horrible. So greedy and they do not care about you. Avoid it all costs. They will find any way to stick you with high fees and threaten you if you can't pay.

Fantastic experience: My gym! Just love it: plenty of classes with excellent staff, alongside my fellow women who add a sense of camaraderie that is lacking in a lot of other gyms. I have been a member now for some years, and wouldn't change. Highly recommend Fernwood Hornsby.

Negative experience: Would have been nice to let people know that if your card declines a transaction that you get charged an extra $15 so for 2 weeks I paid $69 the lady that helped then offered no solution for it. Or a refund for not telling me about it (only the $15, not whole amount)

Fantastic experience: I love fernwood hornsby. The vibe is so supportive. Everyone is friendly and encouraging no matter your level of fitness.

Negative experience: This gym is fine, however the bathroom and change rooms are super dirty. Trainers appear to be out to get one another, there is no camaraderie between them. I luckily got the assistance of one trainer who was genuinely helpful, focused on her job and appeared not to get bothered by the other trainer's bad attitude. Eventually when I decided to cancel my membership, just like the other reviews, the gym made it difficult to cancel. What a horrible experience. Fernwood gym, you ladies have a good setup why do you not better your attitude and provide the best service possible. Yes money is a factor, but I'm guessing if you did better you would have more members.

Negative experience: Not very happy with the way this gym has gone downhill. I have been a member for 10 years & it’s not how it used to be. All the work out equipment (not weight lifting machines though) had fans that you could point on your fact during a workout. Then new management upgraded to machines with no fans. The ceiling fans sometimes a few of them don’t work, they’re not that strong & they recently got rid of the metal industrial sized fan that was on the gym floor that helped. Now it’s very hot & uncomfortable. As a patron who comes to the gym VERY early in the morning (4-5am) the music is almost ALWAYS blaring, due to the staff ‘forgetting to turn it down of the afternoon’. It gives me headaches & they keep saying they’ll do something about it but it happens week after week. Not the nicest thing to get to the gym at 4:20am and have blaring club music pumping through every speaker, so loud even with headphones in turned all the way up you can still hear it. They need to sort their stuff out cause this is absolutely ridiculous. They no longer have resistance bands that were always available for us ladies, they’ve just disappeared & have never been replaced. I would say the most disappointing thing is every single time I’ve complained not a single thing has changed. If there were any other women’s gyms in this area I would have left here to go there. After being here it’s just not really the best gym but it’s the only option us ladies have & they seem to know that & not care about our complaints ‍♀️

Fantastic experience: I love Fernwood Hornsby. Walking into the gym gives me an immediate sense of well-being. The staff are lovely and very helpful. There is a good variety of classes and exercise machines, as well as a lounge area and creche. They are also very community-minded, continuing to sponsor the Hornsby Relay For Life Fernwood Lap Challenge, as well as other causes, particularly after the last few years which have been extremely difficult on many levels. The Hornsby Relay For Life organising team is extremely grateful for this contribution, which has helped to raise well over $80,000 for cancer research and support services. If you are considering joining a gym specifically for females I can highly recommend Fernwood Hornsby.

Fantastic experience: Been coming here since the beginning of August and mainly been doing the fit 30 classes. They are a great way to get a quick, efficient workout on a short schedule. Each class is different which makes working out fun. My kids attend the creche and they love it the staff are so friendly. Lots of different classes on a daily basis so something to cater for everyone.

Fantastic experience: After no exercise for 20 years or more, I was really nervous to get started again. Fernwood made it so easy ! They are so friendly, helpful and welcoming. I love that there is a different class almost every hour throughout the day and they are so inclusive to all ages. Great facilities and equipment with first class instructors. Best value for money too !

Negative experience: The gym itself is great, nice classes and a good atmosphere. The issue is with the staff and when you try and quit they stop communicating and whack you with excessive leave payments? Typical franchisee gym behaviour now they won’t return any of my emails and it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get them on the phone. If you want a good service at a gym, avoid this one

Fantastic experience: It’s very difficult during the Covid-19 lockdown, as we can’t enjoy our terrific PT, amazing classes and wonderful friendships, but also the supportive , understanding and encouraging feeling at Fernwood Hornsby. I really enjoy coming to our gym. I’ve been a member for many years and I just love opening the gym front door first thing in the morning. It’s part of my routine - it’s my safe haven - it’s my happy place - a place where I feel confident and secure. It’s a place where you can be yourself and that’s a fantastic feeling. It’s my place to be!!!

Fantastic experience: I’m honoured to be a group fitness instructor at Fernwood Hornsby. They gym is always clean and highly maintained, the management is top tier. They also have useful amenities, including a breakfast bar where I love to relax, have a cup of tea. They have a wide variety of classes and equipment, there is something for everyone. The location is very convenient, close to shops and easy parking super close to the gym. Highly recommend this women’s only gym.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member at Fernwood Hornsby for over 5 years and love it. The instructors are so good at what they do and so supportive. All the ladies in the gym really band together and there are genuine friendships made. The timetable offers heaps of different options and classes, as well as PT and lots more. Fantastic experience: The experience at Fermwood has been wonderful as all the Staff members are not only helping but supportive in all aspects. They make sure that you have been served by the staff member otherwise the trainers themselves would go all the way to help you out. All the Trainers are very professional yet always there to motivate you.

Negative experience: Horrible bad experience with hornsby fernwood!!! Be careful when you end membership with them. I had 18 months membership with them. They will arrange new fixed contract for you without discussing you and without your signature. They are very personal business. They can decide how much to charge you and how long to charge you . So be careful with your direct credit card and check regularly, Especially when You end membership with them. And they advertised refer to friend you will get one month free. But when you ask, they will say” you always want free stuff!!” (That’s really horrible attitude, which made me very very angry..)they are very discriminated!!! And don’t trust their advertisement because it’s really just an advertisement !!

Negative experience: They never explain about the cancellation fee when you sign up at the office. When I ask for cancellation, they asked me to pay $380. So I asked them if I can give my membership to someone else. They keep asking me to pay the cancellation fee. ONLY care about money not the customer. Go to other gym, it's cheaper and no lock in contract.

Negative experience: They’re nice when you sign up. When you finish your membership they’ll keep charging you. If you cancel your credit card they’ll send debt collectors after you. The owner is sweet until she realises you’ll stop lining her pockets, after which she’ll come after you with the vendetta of a Karen at Walmart trying to get a refund for food she’s ate to completion. Avoid. There are better gyms out there. Cheaper, with nicer people.

Negative experience: If I could give them a zero star rating I would because of how my contract ended with Fernwood Hornsby. Also, I’m calling into question the recent spam of “positive” reviews below that have been posted all within the same month. In my opinion, this is just a tactic to boost their star rating as it had dropped so significantly. Onto my abysmal experience with the club. Please note that much of this has been taken from my email to their head office. When signing up to a Flexi Membership I also purchased a promotional pack of 40 PT sessions. At the time of purchase I explained that I may be moving suburbs (thus signing up for a flexi membership) and if the PT session could be transferred to a different club should I need to change. I was told “yes” that was absolutely fine and given no indication that there would be any conditions upon transferring membership. Nowhere in the Members Terms and Conditions does it state that there is a cap or limit to the number of PT sessions that can be transferred between clubs and had I been aware that there was I never would have purchased a pack of 40 sessions. When transferring to my desired facility I was informed that only 20 of my PT sessions were able to be transferred over and to get in contact with the Hornsby facility to arrange a refund or a time to complete the remaining 12 PT sessions that could not be transferred over to my new club. It is not possible for me to travel to Hornsby to complete the 12 PT sessions therefore I emailed Hornsby (17/02/2021) to request a refund. My ideal resolution would have been to transfer all remaining PT sessions as promised when signing the contract. I had to forward my email again (23/02/2021) before receiving a response from staff. The staff at Hornsby told me that my original email had been forwarded to the owner of the franchise to resolve the issue. Another two weeks went by, with me getting in contact several times for an update (01/03, 05/03 and 09/03/2021) but I received no contact from staff in response. Not even an email to say “Hey, we don’t know what’s going on, let us find out and get back to you. Or here is the direct email address of the franchise owner, please direct your inquiry to her.” NOTHING! No basic customer service skills were engaged at any point. I had to get in contact (three weeks after my original email) with Hornsby via phone for an update, which they could not give me, therefore I requested the email of the franchise owner so that I could receive some form of communication about my issue. I made contact with the franchise owner and her response was beyond inadequate. There was no apology for not having been in contact with me for three weeks and the “resolution” that she offered me was to transfer my 12 PT sessions to another member of the Hornsby facility. I said straight out that this is unacceptable and then didn’t hear back from her for the rest of the day. Thus, my email to Fernwood’s head office. The next morning I received a call from the complaints department who were beyond apologetic that I had experienced this (what do you know, customer service skills. AMAZING!) and suddenly the remaining 12 of my PT sessions were being transferred to my new club (which is what I wanted in the first place). Everything solved within a matter of 3 minutes over the phone. Do with this information what you will, I’m just warning you to be very wary and remember to stand up for yourself. P.S. I have email evidence of all of this.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of this gym for 2 years now, and I wouldn’t be leaving if it wasn’t for my circumstances. The owner Jodie has been helpful in all situations and has been accommodating each time. The staff are lovely and the facilities are clean with plenty of equipment. Olga is a great personal trainer and she has taught me so much!

Negative experience: Did not present me with the terms and conditions of the membership upon sign up. Failed to then email me my agreement and the terms and conditions after sign up. I have asked numerous times to have my membership cancelled as I was not presented with the terms of my membership, and they continue to charge me. They do not respond to emails, HO does not respond to emails.

Fantastic experience: Love Fernwood Hornsby! I joined back in May 2019 after moving to Sydney. It’s now my second home, love the facilities & classes especially Fiit30! The girls out the front and trainers are all so friendly and welcoming. Crèche is an added amazing bonus, my little one loves going in there and would happily stay all day! Great place to workout and socialise, I’d be lost without my fernwood family now.

Negative experience: So after trying to cancel my membership after the 12 months, I was informed that I had an extra 3 months on added to my contract because of the Covid Lockdown. I was told that it was similar to buying a car, you owe that amount of money. for 12 months. Ok. However, I signed for 12 months, I wasn't given the service for 3 months, so I should pay for 3 months of time I didn't get to go the gym? No one informed me that the contract would be extended. I was treated rudely by Liz, who constantly wanted to put end our conversation. Thank you for your lack of service. Please do not join this gym, there is no humanity or community to be found. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Negative experience: If you are considering joining this fitness centre, think again. Yeah, I am very well served when joining in, but when cancelling membership, it takes forever. I requested to cancel my membership almost 4 months ago, yet they are still charging my bank account. Called several times, every time the staff said she’s going to talk to the manager, and the manager is always not in.

Negative experience: Went to Hornsby fernwood to cancel my membership, one of the consultants told me i Will still have 2 more payments to go after I signed my termination form, and she wanted me to hand in the security key, I replied I still have 4 weeks to go (2 more payments), but she was staring at me said, you said you are not coming to gym any more, so I can recycle the key. I was a bit upset, I said to her, my last date is in 4 weeks, I can hand in the key on my last day. Hello, it’s my right to keep the key til the last day of my membership. You should treat customers the same whenever they join in or terminate memberships

Negative experience: The customer service here is appalling. I only go here because it’s close to home. The girls who work at reception (when they are actually around) are straight up rude, dismissive and behave as though your owe them something. Side note, I refused to pay $89 for the access tag when I joined. People forget that fees and charges are not set in stone and these guys take full advantage of that and I’m sorry to say especially that it’s a women’s gym.

Negative experience: The worst costumer service ever, My friend and I were shocked, usually sale membership representatives are nice and polite. This Alisha person gave off the impression of not wanting anyone to join the club at all. Extremely rude and disrespectful.

Fantastic experience: The best gym! Lots of classes, including body balance, yoga, body attack, body combat, etc.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym, great staff very supportive of their members.

Positive experience: New cardio machines, lockers with locks, showers, variety of classes, free fruit & brekky. Downsides: poor design for busy periods, no comfortable seating, clunky showers, going to another Fernwood is a hassle, always a bit dirty and dusty, music choice sometimes offensive & poor.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Quality equipment, the tidy and girly change rooms, lockers, friendly staff. I like that the gym is air conditioned unlike many other gyms where you cook in summer! Complimentary breakfast and coffee after a morning workout are magic. Classes are not my thing but there are plenty if that's what you'd like. They even sell pre-prepared meals if you're watching your diet. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: worst gym , has no equipment and the equipment it has is useless , very small space and staff are very rude, dont waist your hard earned money on this gym.......go to any other gym around this area its worth every cent apart from this one
