Negative experience: No one answers call's even during business hours. Stopped membership due to a injury but still funds are being taken out & nobody returning calls. Very poor customer service!!

Fantastic experience: Great gym with relaxed atmosphere and no problems regarding overcrowding, facilities are excellent and the staff are very friendly. I’ve been a member for a coulomb months at the time of writing and would encourage others who are looking for a relaxed and clean gym with a lovely layout to join, the range of machines, free weights and other training equipment is excellent.

The gym is always clean, well-maintained, and equip with top-notch facilities. It’s never overcrowded, which makes my workouts so much more enjoyable. Their positive attitude and dedication make a huge difference and truly enhance the overall atmosphere of the gym. Positive experience: Last year, when I was 13 (which I still am now), I was eager to join my first gym after working out at home for a while. My mother called the gym to ask if a 13-year-old was allowed, and she was told "yes." Naturally, I was excited to experience a gym for the first time. However, when my dad and I arrived, I was denied entry for being "too young," despite my mom confirming multiple times over the phone that it was okay. I gave three stars to keep it fair since I haven't actually experienced the gym yet, but I plan to try again when I turn 14 next year, as that was stated as the minimum age when I attempted to join the first time. I just hope I won’t be turned away again.

Negative experience: Never apply for a smart key to use your mobile phone to enter and exit. I don’t understand why a gym needs to update iOS to the latest version on the mobile phone before people can use it.

Fantastic experience: Equipment range Equipment quality Vibe Cleanliness Ventilation Showers/change rooms Layout Noise Good all round gym. The range, opening times and quality expected with Anytime. Good vibe with a range of people at various stages of their fitness journey. The common gym problem of music up too loud (it's 2023, we all have headphones now) Treadmills up on mezzanine for a bit of a view. Minor improvement that it can be crowded around the mirror for weights and cables if working on form (some reorganisation or more mirrors would improve this). Carpark in various states of repair. My home membership is with a different AF so can't speak to the reports of inflated prices or pressure selling, but sign up should be free (go elsewhere if not) and not more than $16/week as of 2023

Fantastic experience: Great gym and equipment, parking is a bit difficult during the day but hey that’s outside their control as they are next to a shopping centre and I prefer working out at night when there is no one there cause I’m anxious working out in front of people .

Negative experience: Joined kotara anytime fitness and was told I had to pay $50 for access fob. As I was planning to work overseas for an extended period I was told that I could return fob and get my $50 back. Just went to kotara branch and was met by two girls who said I was not entitled to my money back. One of them even managed to look up from playing on her phone to comment and then back to her phone. I can only state they lied to me when I joined. All I wanted was my money back. Do not trust what they tell you.

Negative experience: The blonde female trainer and blonde curly haired male trainer seem more interested in talking to each other than paying any attention to customers. The coldest attempt of customer service I’ve ever encountered. Thankfully the Newcastle AF trainers are much friendlier and welcoming. I won’t be back.

Negative experience: Typical gym franchise in Australia. High pressure sales tactics. Not flexible, and not a good value. Gym itself is small but has most things you might want, definitely not worth the weekly fees of 25 aud.

Negative experience: My partner and I went to sign up here during a one day only no sign-up fees deal. The prices for the access key and membership were more than 50% higher than the recommended prices listed on the Anytime Fitness website, so we left immediately, but not before we had partially filled in the sign-up forms and written down our contact details. Now they won't leave us alone, they keep sending us spam texts and I'm even getting voicemails from them even though I have blocked the number. AVOID like the plague... this could be the best gym on the planet and it would still not justify getting hounded like this.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. Easily the best Anytime I've ever seen. Great attention to detail throughout, and the staff obviously take pride in what they do. Small things like the lighting and ancillary equipment show they've gone the extra mile. Bathroom area was immaculate, well lit, clean and had fancy hair-dryers and complimentary bobby pins etc. Had a great experience with one of their trainers who helped me train there for a Bodybuilding prep today. Absolutely godly downlighting too, which is important.

Positive experience: Good space, not a single person puts their weights away

Fantastic experience: Started training my mate here in feb. Since then i trained personally somewhere else and now have full converted over here. Due to a great environment, great inviting atmosphere with a variety of ALL types of people. Jake was the manager on that signed me up, cool bloke wasnt pushy which i liked. Just kind and genuine. Would recommend for people in kotara or surrounding suburbs.

Negative experience: I have been an anytime fitness member for nearly 12 years. Since moving to AF Kotara in 2020, I have had 3 club managers over the past 3 years increase my rates. When I emailed Madi (current club manager) to remain on my current rate, I was sent a reply asking to fill out a form to cancel my membership with no acknowledgement of the details within my email. Poor management, lack of empathy and complete disregard for a long time loyal member. UPDATE 2 MAY: Despite Anytime Fitness responding to my review and saying they would contact me, I have heard nothing from them and have instead been charged for the month, with a 12% increase to my fee.

Negative experience: WORST service ever. I’ve been trying to get out of my membership for months as I moved and go to another gym now, only way they said I could was to transfer it someone else or pay the rest of it. I find someone to transfer it to and confirm everything. 2 months later they try and restart my membership!!!?!?! Had to call them up and they said my membership hadn’t been cancelled after I had transferred it to someone else?!?! Swear they’re just trying to scam me. Never signing up to anytime fitness again, waste of my time and money.

Negative experience: Poorly maintained - no signal on machine tvs, half the treadmill safety clips are broken, paper towel machine always empty.

Negative experience: It was very disgusting the way they treated me at the end. No loyalty and no respect. I have never missed one single payment in 2 years as a member and I even brought 2 other people that have joined the club! First of all I wasn’t in a lock-in contract and they tried to force me to give them 4 weeks notice to cancel my membership while I still had 2 more weeks to go on my monthly membership. So I refused to give them the notice and they ended up sending my name to the debit collecting after I stopped the direct debt payments from coming out of my bank account. Also the gym is small with hundreds of members, the hygiene in the toilets is very bad and the gym stinks most of the time. Definitely not recommend!! Very bad management!!

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with the level of ethics around payments. I have had 4 major incidents with this gym with agreements that have changed within days as well as overcharging. This is very disappointing for a business. I have ignored it many times, giving the management the benefit of doubt although obviously it is apparent it no longer a mistake.

Negative experience: Very disappointing administration. I called to query a 7 day free trial - to which I only received 2 days (day 2 was on my request). Not only was my trial very short but I was signed up as a member being told that if I wanted to join and receive the current "$0 joining fee promo" I could put down my name with NO payments coming out until I JOINED AND GAVE PERMISSION. Prior to even stepping foot in the gym (for a trial) - I was then charged 1 week of membership + funds exceeding $100 (for what I am still unsure of but assuming an access card - that i do not have) were then attempted to be taken out of my account however insufficient funds stopped this from processing. The gym itself was clean, tidy and very presentable but due to the poor management, miscommunication and non existent explanation of membership I choose to go elsewhere. 3 WEEKS LATER from my trial enquiry and after politely contacting them informing I do not wish to be a member... I have been CHARGED 2 weeks memberships plus an unexplained $117.... I have made numerus phone calls asking to be removed from the system and somehow this message has still not yet been made clear. Like I said, great facility and great gym. BUT very sales driven and lacks adequate communication / admin services.

Fantastic experience: Good vibe, clean with all the necessary equipment.

Positive experience: Cardio on upper level. Weights on lower. Feels bit too old compared to other clubs. Def needs to be renovated. But just like any other anytime fitness gym. Its clean and has all the equipment u need. Has adequate parking outside.

Negative experience: A little frustrating when you get booted off the minimal equipment you've just got on by a PT doing a session with a client.

Fantastic experience: Sam walked me through the whole membership process and even worked out a great deal for me! He kept in touch to provide more information where needed, and followed me up with phonecalls as promised - this doesn't always happen with businesses, so I admire Anytime Fitness' commitment to quality customer service. Due to COVID, I'm not able to commit to a gym contract, but if I could it would definitely be here!

Negative experience: Dear Management, Thank you so much for calling the police on your members for... using the gym and then staying parked for a few hours? That’s literally what has taken place. Obviously, the police left me alone, as I haven’t done anything. To the Owner: please note your management has said its members are not welcome at the gym they’re paying for. Some great people you got working there: they were so bored they literally called the cops because someone has stayed parked (legally) after using the gym for a few hours. Check the security footage from 7pm to see me using the gym. Then, at around 12:30am your lovely staff called the police for no apparent reason other than having me sit in the car in front of the gym and coming in one more time to use the toilet in the meantime. I haven’t gone anywhere during that time, so it’s not like I left the car and went somewhere - I was there the entire time. Since you expressed I’m not welcome at the gym I keep paying membership for, and have done this in the most cowardly way of calling the cops instead of - I dont know, asking me why am I still in the car? - you can rest assured I will not be coming back. If you are a user reading this review, please reconsider subscribing here and be aware what kind of people operate this gym, as well as what sort of practices they utilise to get rid of their paying customers.

Negative experience: Rude staff i’ve ever met, they just know how to take money and then they start dominating you . Don’t waste your time and money in this gym.

Positive experience: Great gym but I found the sign up process a bit pushy . Parking is ideal and facilities really are great. There are cheaper gyms but this is quality with everything you need. I signed up elsewhere just due to price and I felt a bit pressured to sign the contract.

Fantastic experience: Normally go in non staffed hours but wanted to post this as today the staff were honestly awesome. David came around checking on clients, friendly, polite, and very positive all around. Couldn’t recommend this Anytime enough, clean facilities, plenty of equipment so you aren’t waiting around. Very welcoming environment for both beginners and advanced level of person.

Negative experience: I have been a member at lots of different gyms in different parts of the world over the past few years, the customer service at Anytime Fitness Kotara is by far the worst. A few months ago, I accidentally left insufficient funds in the account I had set up for direct debit. As I went to pay the money I owed, I received an email from Anytime (or according to Dave, who works at Anytime Fitness Kotara, from their Direct Debit Partner) giving me the choice to pay immediately, or simply wait until the next direct debit payment, when it will automatically deduct all owing fees at once. Reading this, I chose to simply wait and pay the fees hassle-free, but the next day I received a text from Anytime Fitness saying that I have been hit with a late fee, and that I have been locked out of the gym. When I called, I spoke to Dave on the phone, who told me that it was an error and that I was not locked out. He asked me to pay over the phone, I did this, and everything continued as usual. A few days ago, this happened again, the same process, the same email saying I did not have to rush to pay just yet, and the same threatening text message from Anytime a day or two later. This time, however, when I called and spoke to Dave again, he was not very helpful nor nice. He denied what he had said about it being an error and simply blamed it on their direct debit partner. After he told me there was nothing he could do about it, I explained that while I understand he was simply doing his job, telling me it was an error in the past is very misleading and has led to extra money being taken off of me for no reason other than Anytime's poor communication with its partner, for which the customer shouldn't be liable. He denied saying that it was an error, and said that he "wasn't going to argue with me", making me feel like a liar. This has been a very negative experience, and I told him that, and said I was reconsidering staying at this gym, he replied in a patronizing tone that I was bound by a contract, to which I responded that I would gladly pay whatever penalty to stop going to this gym. This has been my worst experience with a gym, and the worst customer service I've dealt with from an employee.

Fantastic experience: Is gym, I like.

Negative experience: Three staff in the office and none interested in actually helping me with my enquiries. All seemed to just want me out the door so they could continue with their conversations. Told me to "call another anytime" to assist me with my enquiries.
