Genesis Health + Fitness Maitland

Fantastic experience: I used to work with one of the trainers way back at Woolies! This place is exceptionally positive. Recently, I trained with Kye here, and all he had to say was, "You got this," and it carried me through the week. Be patient looking for a park. There's a reason the place is busy!

Negative experience: Honestly a great setup, and the staff are nice. My 1 star review is specifically due to the greed of the club owners. I only signed up for a contract a few weeks ago. I loved the gym, however I had to love 5.5 hours away due to unforeseen circumstances that have put me in a bad predicament. I was actually signed up for two different gyms, one of them happily ended my contract without penalty due to my circumstances, but also because the closest gym was 1 hour away. While genesis are making me pay $220 to cancel, when their nearest gym is 3.5 hours away. The staff have been lovely trying to assist me with approval to break contract penalty free. However the owners are greedy grubs. Due to the nature of these owners I highly recommend signing up for a different gym.

Negative experience: They had a stall at Greenhills - East Maitland. This young blonde lady was targeting mostly overweight people travelling past to ask if they wanted to join. Including my overweight 13 year old brother that is already self conscious and trying to lose weight. Gain some respect genesis.

Positive experience: The facilities are clean, the staff is friendly, there's a free weights section with Olympic weight barbells (20 kg) and a good amount of plates, there's enough variety of machines for each body part you would want to isolate, and a cardio section. There's good availability on the cardio and machines at the times that I go. The only downside is that patrons don't put their weights back where they took them, I always seem to be tracking down a 2.5 kg or 1.25 kg plate every time I go, which I find to be slightly annoying. I don't know how much that's on the gym, as opposed to the people who use it.

Negative experience: I think calling people randomly at 5pm and asking them if they're interested in signing up is just pushy and rude. If I was interested, I'd sign up. You wouldn't need to call.

Fantastic experience: Genesis Maitland is a great gym. There's heaps of equipment to choose from, it's clean and there are some great classes (especially Reformer Pilates). A special thank you to Alex and the team for their excellent customer service.

Fantastic experience: Go there and it'll speak for itself. Good gym, good staff, and full of good people.

Negative experience: They accept fitness passport but you have to pay 50$ for an administration fee and sign up to a contract So basically they don’t take fitness passport, Literally defeats the purpose of fitness passport

Negative experience: Unscrupulous business operation. Dishonest and misleading behaviors in practice and likely part of staff training. Definitely look somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic staff, great class timetable and my son loves the creche!

Positive experience: A 24/7 fitness gym. With classes and coaching support. The area are large, enough for your gym vibes. Plenty of equipments. There lots issue regarding the cleanliness and locker rooms which was devestated. They should also Include in their recruiting to members to be more responsible and bring back all the things in proper. I know the staff are trying their best to keep it on tract but I hope the members also do their part. Some also of the equipment needed to replace. The staff are friendly. Be fit! Be fab!

Negative experience: Totally disappointed about this gym. Tried to contact multiple times but no one answered. I gave 2 weeks suspension period but they deducted amount from the account. and when I inquire about it they don't care and never talked about my money. i canceled the member ship and they asked to pay 30 days ahead before cancelling and never talked about the money they had deducted from account even though i gave 2 weeks suspension note. it’s like a bank loan. if one time decline the account they are taking penalty as well. ridiculous. i’m not recommend this place.

Negative experience: Very sorry excuse for a gym. Ill try and keep it brief - - The gym is a mess. Plates and equipment are left everywhere and the staff do not clean up - Music is overly loud and unbelievably unmotivating (pretty much Taylor swift on repeat) - Racks, platforms, machines, and other equipment are dirty, falling apart, or completely unusable - Staff aren't that friendly and don't seem to want to be there There is literally no reason to train here other than if you love doing cardio because over half the gym floor is treadmills. If you want a real gym, train at World Gym Maitland, not this pathetic place

Fantastic experience: Did my first ever Pilates Reformer class with Kat today & absolutely loved it, I left feeling like I had such an awesome workout! The atmosphere is very modern & welcoming, all the staff & instructors are so knowledgeable too, I’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: It is an excellent place for your workouts and self-help. Along with classes, personal trainers, creche with Cert lll staff for your little ones, and couching zone for those that need to be helped with their training. And now the brand new room Reformer Pilates is amazing. Also, a sauna and steam room. Cafe for your coffee and healthy snacks on the way home or eat in. Great friendly staff

Fantastic experience: Very clean gym and very organised and professional staff I walked through when my son was there and was impressed with the size of gym and the many machines and equipment available

Negative experience: Nothing personal against this business however the constant sms messages to sign up has been ridiculous. I have never associated with gym especially considering I live in Sydney so I have no idea how they have my details. As a business this isn’t a good look and will frustrate a lot of people if it continues.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Friendly staff. Always has disinfectant and paper towel around. Staff clean equipment regularly. Friendly members. Easy going atmosphere.

Negative experience: Have tried to contact multiple times over the last month to cancel my membership including via email and phone. No one ever replies or picks up the phone but I am still being charged.

Negative experience: Recently got as 'bad debt' SMS message so called them and no answer but within minutes got an SMS message advising system error etc. Interesting that the message included a 50% off all fees if I cleared the BS debt does make one wonder if it is a marketing type of thing. Couple that with the fact it happened on the anniversary of my cancelling my membership, my conspiracy theory mind does ask questions. Personally, the fact that I have seen the same issue reported many times on facebook pages etc does indicate an issue That said, when I attended the facilities were ok although it was often that some machines were not working, not all and not the majority just some that impacted things. Staff were ok although due to changes they did drop off in that originally the staff were bright and welcoming but by the end there was an impersonal approach and little acknowledgement

Positive experience: I only go there because it's close to my house. Not modern equipment, they don't up to date them. Members don't put their weight plates away after using them. It's very cheap membership so don't expect a 5 start gym.

Negative experience: They keep on asking me to pay for something that I don’t use, and when I asked them to cancel my membership, they just don’t do it & make me pay. Don’t go with these guys. I hate it.

Negative experience: Absolute joke of a gym. There is one woman that works there that absolutely ripped me off when I was ending my year long contract. I am aware that those contracts roll on past the end date and direct debits only stop once you take action to cease the contract. However, lockdown started a couple of days after my contract end date and obviously I didn’t get to attend the gym. But for some unknown reason I still have to pay an $84 fee and she couldn’t tell me exactly why. I want an explanation please.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with friendly staff and loads of choice when it comes to group fitness and coaching zone. There is something for every fitness level.

Fantastic experience: My search is over!. Trying to find a gym in my local area where I felt comfortable, the timetable suited me and offered a great variety of classes, and the instructors were friendly, encouraging and helpful proved challenging. After visiting numerous local gyms and walking straight back out, my friend convinced me to try Genesis. I walked into Genesis thinking it would just be another "commercial type" gym. I was pleasantly surprised as it was the total opposite. I was warmly greeted by the lovely Doline who was more than happy to show me around the top class facilities, asked me what I was looking for in a gym, and explained everything i needed to know. I was offered a free trial before signing up which i found great as i was able to try before i buy. A fantastic place with great energy and lovely people, I'm loving it and haven't looked back.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of genesis Maitland for around 7 years now. All the staff are so friendly, easy to approach and always willing to help even with the silliest of questions. And you should give coaching zone a try it is great fun.

For someone who enjoys fitness classes, i'm been very impressed with the variety of classes they offer. My trainer Connor has also given me the confidence to explore other areas of the gym I hadn't considered before.

The reception staff are always friendly & keen for a chat & my trainer Connor is absolutely amazing. Fantastic experience: I was looking to join a gym, and Genesis stood way above the other one I looked at. The staff at the counter were welcoming, and gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. My trainer listened to what I wanted to get from my time at the gym, and wrote me a great plan - even though I didn't want to sign up to an ongoing commitment to a PT. I don't feel intimidated when I train; the gym is relaxed, clean and recently updated. I highly recommend Genesis Maitland to anyone looking to get healthy.

Fantastic experience: I joined at Maitland last week. I was drawn to this gym by the very accessible yoga timetable they have, which I’ve not yet seen in other gyms. All the yoga instructors there are great. Between Rutherford and Maitland gyms I can make a lot of class times work for me. Very impressed with the yoga options on the weekend too! Both gyms have new equipment and a good layout. Very happy to have signed with Genesis. All the staff have been very helpful. Game on!

Fantastic experience: The Maitland Genesis staff are really lovely. They have always been more than corporative with myself and when I have gone to the gym with my clients. I appreciate the staff always having a great chat with anyone I come in with. Genesis Maitland is definitely a safe space for people with disabilities!

The facility is large and spacious to cater to the high volume that attend. They run several classes and group fitness. Happy long term member for years and highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I am a beginner to the gym and are very new to working out but in the short time i have been going to Genesis Maitland i have made friends with multiple people who are always happy to help me whether it's giving me some new exercises or spotting me. Fantastic experience: I have just moved from my old gym to genisis. It is a judge free environment and you feel comfortable to go about your workout. The other members unrack their weights and the facilities are always clean and tidy. There is plenty of equipment so no waiting for machines.

Fantastic experience: I am a new member (just joined in the last 6-8 weeks). I needed a 24 hour gym 7 days week as I seem to want to work out when everyone else wants to stay home! I have found the staff friendly and welcoming. I have been doing cardio and some introductory weight training and enjoy just being able to work at my own pace. The yoga class on a Sunday morning is brilliant!

The staff have a wonderful attitude to members, nothing is ever a problem, all questions are always answered in a professional manner.The classes are extremely good always on time & with a knowable instructor. Being greeted with a big smile & warm welcome as you arrive is a big plus!I would recommend Genesis to any one planning to improve health & fitness. 10 out of 10 in my book!
