Fitness First Kings Cross Platinum: Opinions
Positive experience: Appreciate the new gym equipment but can’t believe the gym has lost two preacher curls and has zero replacements! A gym this size should definitely have a preacher curl. Very disappointed. Still deciding if I’ll switch to another local gym.
Hello! Thank you so much for your review. We're really sorry to hear about your experience. We'd love to offer you 2 x PT sessions to help with your training and suggest some alternative exercises. Feel free to reach out to us via social media DM if you'd like to take us up on this offer! We’re here to help!
Positive experience: The gym has new equipment which is nice and great cardio equipment. The staff seem friendly and the drinks are newly stocked. I would give this gym five stars but the downstairs functional area is spacious however has no boxing bags where this is plenty of room for a few. In addition, the main weights area has a dirty corner with Swiss Balls and a broken cable machine which should be fixed or removed.
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoy the new equipment, cardio machines, and friendly staff. We’ll pass on your suggestion about boxing bags and address the issues in the weights area to keep the space clean and functional. We appreciate your input!
Fantastic experience: Fitness First Kings Cross has great equipment and friendly/helpful staff. The gym has a welcoming atmosphere
We truly appreciate your kind feedback. It’s great to hear that you're enjoying your time with us❤️.
Positive experience: I swear some people must live at the weight benches as it can be extremely difficult to get one. Overall not a bad gym to go to though - staff are friendly enough and facilities are good. Throwing in a few more weight benches would make it better.
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoy our friendly staff and facilities. We appreciate your suggestion to add more weight benches and will take it into consideration. We look forward to continuing to support your fitness journey. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us via DM on Facebook or Instagram if you have any further suggestions for us!
Fantastic experience: I love the new upgraded equipment. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the 5 stars, Sue! We're glad to hear you're loving the upgrades ❤️
Positive experience: Always feel confident every time I’m in the room, mood change, personality and character feel like,HEY EVERYBODY!!!hahah it’s hard me describe cause I don’t have a problem with confidence at all,and fitness first staff members, like a my family members.. easy going and respect to each other.
Wow, thank you for such an amazing review! We love that our gym gives you that boost of confidence and positive energy every time you walk in! It’s awesome to hear that the staff feels like family to you—you're part of ours too!
Positive experience: I love going to Fitness First Kings Cross. The staff are always friendly. Only issues: Always a few machines not working and the lockers are often broken. Sounds like some money needs to be invested back into the gym to keep it tip top Just some feedback
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Greg! We're thrilled to hear you enjoy visiting Fitness First Kings Cross and appreciate the kind words about our friendly staff. We're sorry to hear about the issues with the machines and lockers, and we understand how important it is to have everything in top shape. We’ve passed your feedback on to the team, and we’ll work to address these concerns. Thank you again for helping us improve!
Negative experience: Gym is filthy. Put my towel down on carpet and was soaked in to what appeared to be leaking water from the sewer above. Group fitness room sometimes smells like an open sewer. Carpets part covered in what looks like mould and water damaged on lower level. Lockers falling off, Staff not around and classes often run into each other/late. Some trainers are good and most equipment is ok, but the gym is so disgusting and unacceptably filthy.
We sincerely apologise for your experience and appreciate you bringing these serious concerns to our attention. Cleanliness and maintenance are top priorities for us, and it’s clear we fell short in your case. We take your feedback seriously and will address the issues you mentioned with our team immediately, including the condition of the group fitness room and lockers. We’d also like to discuss this further with you to ensure we can resolve your concerns. Please reach out to us directly, and thank you for helping us improve our facility.
Positive experience: Coldest steam room in NSW , sorry I don't have instagram or facebook. The steamroom is almost chilly would it be possible to warm it up please?
Hello Ricardo, we'd love to look into this for you. Can you please reach out to us via Direct Message on Facebook or Instagram with some more info? Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym, great atmosphere, welcoming and lots of space to do your workout. And they open late which is great. Definitely recommend!
Thank you for the excellent review, Alan! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoy the atmosphere, space, and extended hours at our gym. We appreciate your recommendation and are glad to know you find our facility welcoming and well-suited for your workouts. Thanks for your support!
Positive experience: Nothing beats my four visits a week to spend forty five minutes on the rowing machine. It clears the head and a visit to the sauna with cold shower is refreshing. The only drawback is the same as any gym where members can often occupy equipment while texting rather than using gear. But in my late seventies I have limits to be tolerance of social media.
Thank you for your review! We're delighted to hear you enjoy your visits and find the rowing machine, sauna, and cold shower refreshing. We understand your concern about equipment usage, and we'll work on ways to encourage proper use of the equipment. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we appreciate your understanding.
Negative experience: Machines need an upgrade and every time I go there on public holiday it’s closed even though it says it’s open
Hi Owen, thank you for your feedback. Please note our club hours may vary on public holidays, and we recommend joining our local Facebook page for the latest updates. We appreciate your input regarding machine upgrades and will consider this as we plan improvements. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention.
Negative experience: Almost all personal trainers think they own the gym. If they’re with a person doing an exercise they put the towel to hold the next one.. When you try to use they clearly don’t like. We all pay the same amount here buddy. Also think a bit ahead, every person in the gym is a potencial customer.
Hi Lucas, thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused. Rest assured; we'll address this with our personal trainers to ensure fairness for all members. Your input is valuable to us, and we appreciate your understanding.
Positive experience: The gym itself is great with lots of equipment and three different training areas but in my experience so far most of the front desk staff that I have had encounters with have been rude and unhelpful with bad attitudes. It’s convenient and a good facility, but a shame that you have to deal with rudeness and arrogance when you arrive.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're glad to hear that you appreciate the facilities and equipment at our gym. We're truly sorry to hear about your experience with our front desk staff. Providing excellent customer service is a top priority for us, and we're disappointed to hear that you encountered rudeness and unhelpfulness during your visits. We will address these concerns promptly. If you have any further feedback or if there's anything else we can do to assist you, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly via social media.
Fantastic experience: Great Gym, staff are all very pleasant.
Hello Ross, we are so glad to read this review. Please reach out if you ever need assistance.
Fantastic experience: Best gym in town ❤️
We love to hear this Greg, thank you for sharing!
Fantastic experience: Nice gym, I like it very much.
Thank you Ruinshoh!
Fantastic experience: This gym is topz!!!! Best in Sydney.
Negative experience: Extremely rude staff at night. She was busy on her mobile and couldn't even answer my simple questions about the gym. Filthy toilets & showers.
Positive experience: I’ve religiously been going to Ryan’s as well as Jenny’s Bodystep classes and they bring the vibe EVERY TIME. Simply for that reason, I wouldn’t wanna switch. I haven’t used the weightlifting facilities so can’t really comment on that. -1 star because the shower facilities could be cleaner at times
Negative experience: So i was going to sign up here but i didnt because reading the reviews here and on other websites wow i would never want to sign up . Fitness first always has been known as finance first hence the rebrand happening because that was the slogan . I see nothing has changed with this place always putting money first over the clients health such a shame and will make sure i let everyone know not to come here . Thank you to everyone writing honest reviews.
Negative experience: The gym has 3 floors, of which only one has machines, very few machines, and most of them break and are not fixed. This gym has a lot of people for the number of machines there are and on top of that they let people make a "reservation" of the machines by leaving the towel there while they go do another exercise when all the machines are busy and you can't use anything. I think it's the worst gym in the world.
Negative experience: Avoid signing up with this gym. The staff are rude, self-absorbed and inept. The registration and payment process is ethically questionable. The mens changing rooms and toilets are filthy and poorly maintained. The carpet is worn throughout the gym and the gym equipment is poorly maintained. Heed the reviews and don’t go here…..ever!!!
Negative experience: Sent more than 3 emails in the past 6 months for customer support but never received a reply.
Positive experience: Not bad gym!!
Negative experience: Update: new floors going in and some adjustments. Still Not a platinum offering. Dirty showers. Ancient and regularly broken gym equipment. What is working is one step from being in a state of disrepair. Perished seating material on machines, handles with broken plastic, poor fixes applied for those machine being ‘repaired’, pillows and gears on pin loaded machines have no smooth action. Management then put up the prices. This place is a disgrace. Just compare bond street in the city to this and you too will be shocked and disgusted.
Fantastic experience: I have been training for almost 12 months at this gym. When I first joined I provided feedback and Alex the club manager reached out and welcomed feedback and applied it. The staff always greet you with a smile, provide advice when needed on gym related questions, and always an knowledge you when you leave the gym. Although I train with max as my personal trainer 5 days a week all other trainers make me feel valued and welcomed in the gym, and I have observed other members share the same feelings. I am happy to say that thanks to max and the fitness first platinum Kings Cross team I have been able to achieve all my fitness goals, always feel valued and welcome and Alex contantly seeks members feedback on how the gym can improve. Highly Reccomemd Fittness first Kings cross a gym 10/10. Thank you Max, Alex and all the team at Fittness First KX
Negative experience: Extremely poor maintenance. They do jack sh!t to respond to your feedback and correct things. Be better PS- love the fact that they take the time to respond to reviews. Not. Be better
Positive experience: I’ve been a member since this club opened. The location and space has always been a plus. During the years staff and management has been up and down. The current club manager Alex has taken a hands on approach which has changed the club dynamic. It’s a nice welcoming space with a great layout and friendly staff. I’d recommend joining.
Positive experience: Enough equipment at busy hours. Enough plates. Not so many people (not crowded at all). It is clean. And good wifi in the quite lobby to have a meeting or something like that.
Positive experience: I'm more sanguine than others and enjoy this gym. I like to get lost on the rowing machine for forty mins while overlooking Sydney with the afternoon sun coming in. The only problem I have is with other gym users who seem obsessed with their mobile phones and sit on equipment while lost to their podcasts or social media. Maybe the equipment is old but its not beyond its UBD and I find it useful as do the generally fit men and women around me.
Fantastic experience: Good gym, good prices, can accommodate when travelling
Negative experience: Who came up with this stupid idea to put air freshener all throughout the gym while we train?
Negative experience: Appalling non existent customer service. I cancelled my membership and they proceed to send harassing copy and paste emails. Then when I respond to try and get proper service they don’t reply, despite MULTIPLE emails being sent. Their non existent service is exactly why I cancelled my membership and have another gym. WHEN CUSTOMERS EMAIL YOU NEED TO REPLY RATHER THAN IGNORING THEM.
Negative experience: Very old machine and to busy all the time
Positive experience: Good gym ,they have everything even a steam sauna
Fantastic experience: Staff was so lovely!!!!! Will support them more!
Fantastic experience: I was torn about whether to try this gym because of the bad reviews, but I am glad I did! So far, everything has been hunky-dory. There are three levels with different equipment. Yes, it is busy, but it does not feel crowded cause the space is just HUGE. But what I like the most are the group classes. The instructors do not give out burnout and impatience vibes like in most other gyms :D They sound fun, enthusiastic and motivated, and the class is very hardcore (which I love). Also, they have student discounts for uni students. I hope they'll keep up the good work!
Negative experience: Very disappointed by this club and the management. I subscribed to the 1-month membership at this gym and used the first free week of trial. At the end of the trial, i realised that there was a 89$ joining fee that i had never been informed of. Therefore, I asked to cancel my membership. Unfortunately, no manager was here to cancel it. I came back the next day and a staff tries to give me an offer so I dont cancel my membership. I still say that i want to cancel it and she says that she's gonna tell the manager to refund me. BUT, next day, manager calls me offering another offer which is interesting but I eventually refuse and confirm that i want to cancel my membership. The manager finally tells me that they would not be able to refund me the entirety of what has been already charged from my account. So, I am now forced to stay in this club if I dont want to loose more than a 100$ that Fitness First would not refund me. This is UNACCEPTABLE when I asked to cancel my membership when I was still using my trial week !!!!!! + equipment is all very old
Negative experience: The worse gym I have ever been to, the workers are soooo rude
Positive experience: The staff are all friendly and happy to help, though the building could use a little love. It does get busy (gyms get busy esp in the city) - use google to work out the busy periods and schedule yourself around that. Let’s face it, if you want somewhere quiet then a smaller studio style gym is probably going to be a better fit for you (but you’ll pay accordingly). Also be aware in the lead up to any major gay event (Mardi Gras etc) it will get busier than usual also (but it’ll be dead the day after). Other customers are pretty nice and it’s a nice community atmosphere (smile and people will smile back - it can make all the difference, especially in gyms where people can be at different levels of experience). But if you do feel uneasy - get a trainer, they’ll help you get used to finding the best machines to use and which to substitute with when it’s busy.
Negative experience: Be very careful! I have been attempting to cancel my subscription with them for the past 3 weeks after moving overseas. After speaking to 4 different staff, on top of them never answering the phone, I have still yet to be able to cancel. I even went into the gym before heading overseas, where they proceeded to hand me a slip of paper with an email address written on it, asking me to email that address with no instructions.
Negative experience: One word ... Disappointed. I'm a returning customer having recently rejoined FF Kings Cross and I've already regretted my decision. The facilities are shameful (man's bathroom is all dirty, cockroaches in the showers, showers doors all rusty, taps that doesn't work, lockers all broken and the list goes on), equipments need some recycling (dumbbells doesn't even have the weight identification on the side anymore) and not so friendly staff (they're usually on their phones when you come in / out). In a nutshell, I was surprised how depreciated everything became at FF Kings Cross. Maybe it's a pos Covid effect, but the company needs to invest some money on maintenance and updates. If you're expecting a high quality gym, you're up for a big disappointment.
Negative experience: Took out a 5 day trial pass and on the second day of using it I was basically cornered (at the end of my workout) by a blonde male worker there who informed me I could not come back the remaining days unless I signed a membership. This wasn’t in the trial terms so clearly he made up whatever excuse he wanted to get a sale…..What’s terrible is that he wouldn’t let me leave!!! I found it CREEPY, awkward and intimidating. Ironically I probably would’ve signed a membership at the end of my trial had this not happened (as gym is in good location and was relatively quiet when I went).
Negative experience: WARNING!!! Scam Alert they don't keep their promises they tempt you with 3-4 weeks free trials and then you pay from the first week they just want your money after that the cancellation is made difficult and the studio is also in bad shape
Positive experience: Good but not much machine
Negative experience: Absolutely do not join this gym - they are the epitome of dodgy tactics and sleazy sales approaches. I’ve been trying to get a refund for two weeks for debits they’ve admitted via email shouldn’t have taken place as my membership was paused for a health reason. I’ve since ended up cancelling my membership given they've been so difficult to deal with, and still no response whatsoever. Furthermore, I contacted Fitness First’s social media account seeking assistance and they’ve just left me on seen (lol seems like the extremely average service is a cultural issue across the whole brand). Not totally surprised considering the gross tactics they used during my trial period - their approach is to take your ID each night and then apparently “put it in the safe” so that I would have to speak with someone at the end of each workout during the trial where they would try and sign me up every single night. After a few times I just agreed to shut them up because I was intending on joining anyway due to the proximity to my apartment. Realistically I should’ve just gone a little bit further to somewhere that doesn’t breed dodginess. The gym isn’t even that great and is always crowded. Reading their social media posts and other reviews, dodginess around debits and ignored cancellations is a consistent theme, with many commenters claiming they’ve had to go to the ACCC (lol imagine being that average at being a gym that you have to steal money from your customers). It’s not hard at all to reply to an email, the fact it seems to happen so frequently while debits continue seems to be fairly solid proof it’s intentional.
Negative experience: Can you clean the downstairs area more frequently. It’s disgusting
Fantastic experience: Great place, great equipment, great staff
Negative experience: Very average gym with a great view. Machines are ALWAYS busy, even at non peak times you always have to wait a long time to use the equipment and the equipment is very old. Everyone loves putting their towels and items next to a machine and then leaving to have a 30 min chat to their friends at the gym. It's more of a social outing than a gym.
Negative experience: Poor cleaning, crowded, inconsiderate men hogging popular machines for 30 minutes or more.
Negative experience: Don’t sign up for fitness first. Trash gyms, untidy and disgusting (very unclean). Unhelpful staff and no chance of being able to leave the gym unless you pay a ridiculous sum. Just don’t sign up
Positive experience: Pretty average in honesty - large gym with lots of equipment but expensive to use one-off when visiting, didn’t have any towels and changing rooms mediocre.
Negative experience: Plates all mixed up and everywhere. Not enough attachments for cable. Very sub par gym consider the name of it..
Fantastic experience: I was in Sydney for a few days from Melbourne and I have never been to a fitness first before. I purchase some casual passes for two days, and I loved the experience. Here it is one of the best gyms I have ever been to. It is very clean with great facilities like weightlifting equipment showers, and they also offer you a towel.
Negative experience: I signed up for the 2 week free trial at the start of the year hoping to trial the gym in my area and hopefully join with a full membership for the year. The man who helped me get my trial started basically skimmed through the fine print and asked me to sign my name at the bottom, being only 18 and naive I did so and have been paying for it ever since. Financially I am in no position to be paying 26 dollars a week for a gym membership I don’t use. I have called numerous times asking for a way out and some clarification and have received mixed suggestions and recommendations by every person that has answered. The entire system is set up to ensure you’re liable for continued payments if you fail to read and understand the complex contractual jargon that is so easily glossed over. The gym experience in itself was lacking. From the 4 times I went there I found the staff members to be dismissive, the floor space overly crowded and the machines always busy. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this fitness first or ANY for that matter. The free trial system is a scam, one that I have unfortunately been subjected to for the entirety of this year. Go to a gym with a no-lock in contract that won’t cost you thousands in fees and isn’t part of a massive cooperative. They don’t care about you as a person or your financial situation - they only care about creating a profit and making escaping the system harder than ever thought possible. If I could give them 0 stars I would.
Fantastic experience: I love the team & facility at FF Kings Cross, the group classes & instructors are amazing! Also, the facility & equipment is excellent. I could not recommend FF Kings Cross more highly! :)
Negative experience: For what they charge this is a rip off. Lots of space and equipment options (albeit gets extremely crowded), but overall the space is very old and not very clean. Only joined for convenience. Virgin Active the better gym if there’s one close by you. They should lower prices given the condition of the gym.
Negative experience: The gym itself is often dirty and crowded. Then when I cancelled they refused to reply to my emails and continued asking me for more money, threatening to involve a debt collector even after I forwarded them the original email. Would recommend going literally anywhere else.
Fantastic experience: Henrykneebone@crashhotfitness was amazing! I had the jump start session with him and he completely understood my style of training!! Highly recommend!!
Negative experience: If I ask you to stop calling me, STOP CALLING ME. Losers.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, and awesome trainers running classes making them fun - as well as exhausting
Fantastic experience: Best gym in the area
Positive experience: Like me I think this gym’s equipment has been around since I first started coming here in 2011. Not really, but it’s in a pretty poor state. According to the club manager this club doesn’t get the same funding as other clubs that she’s worked at. The machine in the pic has been broken for about a year. The latest is that we’re missing pins that hold the weights in, so you have to go around finding a pin from another machine. Lucky they have a captive market and a harbour view
Negative experience: There’s nothing platinum about this club, especially when equipment is constantly broken for extended periods. Reception staff are almost always unhelpful and making people pay for water when operating without any water services working at all is unacceptable.
Negative experience: Wow, I am glad that i read the reviews before committing to this gym. Given the reputation of FF I was expecting top notch everything. Instead it seems that the gym is dirty and unhygienic, the equipment is old and worn and if you have membership billing issues, good luck - you wont get your money back and nobody will resolve your issue.
Negative experience: Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. The place is dirty and run down with equipment in poor state.
Negative experience: I told them to sign me up for only 1 month and then a month later they still charging saying they need 30 day notice! I Told them the same day I signed up ONLY FOR 1 MONTH SPECIFICALLY IM FURIOUS THESE SALES TEAM JUST WANT YOUR MONEY
Negative experience: Very disappointing!!! Was in Sydney for a week and thought i would use this gym. The guy at the reception offered me a $32 day pass. I have no doubt that some would pay this much but this is way over my budget. Apparently the gym is soooooooo popular. Well, good for you!!! At the end of the day, all i need is a well equiped gym with good vibes. Found it next door at Anytime Fitness were the staff was absolutely amazing. I got a deal for the week. Only costed me $80.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff & atmosphere, full range of equipment/facilities and great music!
Negative experience: Someone under the name “DYLAN” has used my phone number to sign up to this gym and has not paid his bill. Not only have I contacted this gym to remove my number as I kept getting payment reminder calls/messages they have then passed it on to multiple debt collectors. I now receive 20+ calls/messages a week asking for money and is getting extremely annoying.
Negative experience: Fitness First continues to go from bad to worse. The cleanliness of the gym leaves a lot to be desired. The showers are rarely clean, the trainers refuse to wear masks and they often run out of cleaning wipes. Do better!
Fantastic experience: Equipment is quite new and well looked after. Staff are always super friendly and helpful - excellent place to train.
Positive experience: I was considering to check out this gym but most of the recent google reviews are rather awful. Guys you have to take that feedback, there are not that many people kind as me to write why they won't even walk in.
Positive experience: Constant bad smell in the weights machine area. It's there every time I've worked out. Machine padding is worn on a lot of the equipment. No one re-racks the weights properly. Generally feels a bit unclean and untidy. I now catch a train to different fitness First even though this one is within walking distance from my residence
Fantastic experience: Jake Daniels is my trainer at KX gym. It’s nearly 24 hours after one of his sessions, and I’m still buzzing like a wound up toy! I love his training at KX. He has a serious talent and is always able to match the session with clients needs and abilities, and yet still push them.
Negative experience: SCAM ALERT I started 30 days trial at Fitness First Kings Cross and went for my first training. The equipment was STICKY, DIRTY and in POOR QUALITY which I took for a reason to NOT SIGN UP. I talked to the membership manager to delete all my details and he confirmed me that this has been done and I would not get charged at all. Fast forward 24 Days later, I got CHARGED for a MEMBERSHIP I NEVER STARTED with a fee HIGHER than initially stated. I tried to reach out and talk to the gym 5 times, always got passed on to another person and finally managed to cancel the membership I never started. I have been told I would get refunded but I am already waiting for this refund for 2 weeks. Lets see what the NEXT LIE IS they are going to tell. STAY AWAY FROM FITNESS FIRST. THERE ARE MUCH BETTER GYMS IN THE AREA!
Negative experience: Joined, tried to cancel in cooling off period as the facilities and price were not as good as a competitor. The cancellation team failed to process it and I was charged about $75. Went into the club 3 times to try to get it cancelled and finally they said it was and would take 10 business days to refund. Checked my account this morning and they have taken more money out. Seriously unimpressed.
Negative experience: If you lift weights, I'd recommend staying away from this club. Plates are of poor quality, and they are scattered all over the gym. There are very few of the smaller plates. This means you'll either have to adjust your weights, or spend more time walking around the gym trying to find your plates than actually lifting. There's only a small amount of free weights equipment e.g. squat racks, barbells, and they're all old and of poor or non-standard quality. If you're looking for a better gym in the region, try Anytime Fitness which is very close by.
Negative experience: The worse experience I have ever had with a gym. They help you sign up a month for free at the King Cross branch, which it a blatant lie, as I canceled the membership face to face twice in the reception. Despite this, I continued to get charged weekly. When I reached them via phone regarding this, they said they would give me a refund. A few weeks later they charged me a cancelation fee. It was supposed to be free “MONTH”. THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU JOIN TO THIS GYM. THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU! JUST YOUR MONEY.
Fantastic experience: I'm thinking of joining soon looks like a great gym
Positive experience: Great location. Unfortunately not as clean and organised / tidy as it could be. However practical as it's in the same building as Coles and 1min from the train station (or less).
Negative experience: Terrible gym. that's all I have to say. Terrible customer service.
Negative experience: Have continued to take money out of my account with zero notice after I have moved to Qld throughout the lockdown. I have called multiple times to cancel my account they have came up with a new excuse every time whether it be “I can’t do it today” or they give me a number that says caller unavailable. I am not one to write google reviews but when customer service is this poor and what they are doing is scamming I have to inform people of this. I don’t hate this gym; it’s facilities are ok but when a 17 year old has been trying to cancel his membership for over a week you would think it would have been resolved earlier. It still hasn’t been resolved and I have been in touch with Fair trading which I recccomend you all do if you encounter this problem aswell. Shame on you.
Negative experience: Unfriendly and unhelpful. Hygiene standards are pretty low.
Negative experience: Nothing Platinum about this club the equipment must be at least 10 years old. Gym has a nice view though!
Negative experience: Why have no 24hours open hours in King cross fitness first?so sad
Negative experience: Black mould in the showers. I discussed this verbally with management - response “it’s a shower”. Can I suggest better ventilation for the health and safety of patrons? Also, later in the day, the workout venue lights are kept off (presumably to save on energy bills). You end up doing your cardio in the dark.
Fantastic experience: Great gym; and shout out to the super friendly manager Tom! Helped me out on my first day and recommended me to a trainer which I needed! Members are not intimidating and there's usually equipment available
Fantastic experience: I miss this fitnessFirst very kind staff who make it very nice place to work out in
Negative experience: Management and staff are deliberately careless. When something is broken they never fix it. They have a tap in the shower that is loose and it fell down twice when I was taking a shower. It's made of metal and is very heavy, and can easily fracture your bones if it fell on your foot. I complained to the staff twice then complained to the management when the staff didn't take action. I attached a screenshot of their response on 19th of April and a photo of the tap yesterday, to prove how deliberately careless they are. I also attached some other faulty stuff that they don't fix. The photos in order: 1. Management response 2. The loose shower tap 3. Another shower tap with a broken handle. If you try to rotate it, it can cut your skin 4. Shower door lock is broken, so you can't have privacy showering 5. Water fountain is not working. You have to go to another floor to get water 6. The right side of the the outer layer of the machine handles is shrunk somehow. If you use this handle, your grip is uneven. This has been this way for years.
Fantastic experience: Love the group exercise classes! And staff always helpful:)
Positive experience: I've personally had a really great couple of years training here, & have built up a fondly warm rapport with several of the trainers/ gym staff within that time. Peak hour can be a little bit intense some days, but if you persist in being considerate, approachable, communicative, & willing to compromise, I'm certain that you can still achieve a smooth, & very worthwhile sesh. Another perk is that it is one of the more later-closing of the (non 24-hour) Fitness First branches, & that there is a health food & supplements store, just below! ❤️
Negative experience: Besides the equipment in the gym's themselves, all communication with staff is unbelievably poor. Tried to cancel membership this year, was refused to have it cancelled when I instructed them and was told my account was pushed out to December because of COVID (although I am an asthmatic and said I did not feel comfortable to return to a shared gym during a pandemic) and I needed to wait until December to be able to properly cancel. Went ahead and did the correct thing by paying out my remaining membership in November, ONLY to be continually charged by Fitness First for 6 additional weeks! Had to call up again to reiterate that I've cancelled my membership, have it in writing and now have to wait to be reimbursed all the funds charged. Company cannot be trusted to do what's right by their existing customers and clearly their protocols and processes don't work. Never coming back to this gym.
Positive experience: 4/5 it had its days
Fantastic experience: 3 levels of weights, cardio, stretch and super helpful staff.
Positive experience: Pros: convenient location Cons: 1. disproportionate no. of stepmaster machines to treadmills - often need to wait long time for availability 2. closes far to early on w/e - 7pm and staff tell you the min you walk in at 6:30pm (are you sure you want to train - we close in 30min in an attempt to dissuade you from training then keep reminding you at 5min intervals gym is closing) 3. PTs act like they own the gym and dominate the space and equipment 4. Due to the condensed trading hrs EVERY HOUR is PEAK HOUR hence impossible to get a bench - lucky to squeeze half a workout in FF Platinum member for 7 years and each year gyms try to sell more memberships but don’t seem to expand their equipment or space to accommodate growing member base.
Fantastic experience: Clean and nice team
Negative experience: Weight machines never work properly, no social distance, broken lockers, dirty and smelly toilets and showers
