Goodlife Health Clubs Toowong: Opinions
Positive experience: This place smells really bad. Especially around the lobby. Everything needs a good clean and needs to be aired out!!
Hi there, Thank you for your review. We’re unsure of the validity due to the name provided, but we will certainly take a closer look and investigate further. If you have any additional details or would like to reach out directly, please feel free to contact us here: https://www.goodlife.com.au/contact-us/, and we'll be happy to assist.
Negative experience: I signed up a friend for a gym membership as a gift, and when I went to the Goodlife Toowong location to cancel, I was told the account would be closed. However, 1-2 months later, I was still being charged despite confirmation that no further charges would occur. I’m fine with paying out a contract or providing notice, but I was assured charges would stop, which didn’t happen. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this situation is unethical and harms the reputation of the industry I work in. I can’t stand for it.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience you’ve experienced. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide, and we understand your frustration. Please reach out to us directly so we can investigate this matter further and ensure it’s resolved promptly. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve.
Negative experience: Got here a few minutes before staffed hours ended and needed to get my pass figured out. Staff was not present despite being during staffed hours. To the people supposed to be on staff: please don’t cut your shift a few minutes early.
Thank you for your feedback, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. For safety reasons, our staff typically lock the main doors 15 minutes prior to the end of staffed hours. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to reach out if you need any further assistance with your pass. If you have any concerns or need additional support, please feel free to contact us directly.
Fantastic experience: The staff are welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is good. Plenty of classes. As a senior, the younger members are always willing to help with equipment with a smile. Very positive place to spend time.
Thank you for your lovely review, Carol! We're delighted to hear you enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and the variety of classes we offer. It’s heartwarming to know our members, both young and senior, contribute to such a positive and supportive environment. We’re thrilled to be part of your fitness journey and look forward to seeing you in the gym again soon!
Fantastic experience: I would like to express my gratitude to Eric for his kind consultation and to the manager at Toowong for considering my personal circumstances. Despite some reviews, you provided a friendly response and showed great understanding. If I return to Australia, I plan to use your services again. Thank you very much!
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re delighted to hear that Eric and our Toowong manager were able to provide you with a friendly and understanding experience. Your appreciation means a lot to us, and we’d be honored to welcome you back if you return to Australia. Thank you again, and all the best!
Negative experience: They steal your bank details and do not allow you to cancel memberships. THIS IS A SCAM BUSINESS. DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOUR CARD DETAILS!!!!
Hi Lucas, thank you for your review and for reaching out to us. We would like to look into your concerns further. Please contact us via social media with your preferred contact information so we can assist you. Thank you!
Negative experience: Every time I come in i’m interrogated for my name, number, email, DOB, and address because they claim I ‘let someone in’ previously (by giving them my pass). The date and time they gave me for when they claim it happened is the same date and time I was using the gym…the person I supposedly let in is myself. No one approached me at the gym that day to verify my identity, they just falsely flagged my account. If they check the CCTV for that day they’ll clearly see it’s me in the gym, not someone else. I’ve asked them to remove this report from my account so im not harassed every time I try to use the gym, but they don’t. They also will not supply any evidence for me ‘letting someone in’ (there isn’t any…because I didn’t) I pay $25/week, I have followed all the rules and im treated in a hostile way by the desk staff due to this false report. Terrible experience every time I go in. The worst offender is the woman who seems to be in charge. So rude.
Hello Matthew, thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear about the frustration this has caused. It looks like we are missing a photo on your account, so we’ll be sure to get that updated the next time you're in, which should help prevent any further identity issues. We also sincerely apologise for how this situation has made you feel and understand how frustrating this must be. Your feedback is important to us, and we’ll make sure to address this with our team to improve your experience moving forward.
Negative experience: highest price 24 hour gym membership I've found in Brisbane to date, yet: - memberships appear to be drastically oversold, good luck coming in even several hours after peak time - the steam room and sauna facilities shut down 15 minutes before the advised time on the website, so RIP to getting in after a workout if you work a day job. - staff rarely walk the floor to ensure cleanliness/safe use of equipment, the amount of just trash I see around the machines is absurd - bathrooms ditto - just lovely seeing piss splashed all around the toilets every single time I went to use them - steam room reeks of mold, I wasn't game to use it after the first time - aside from the newer cardio equipment, the other stations are of extremely average quality, and cable attachments almost always missing
Thank you for your feedback, Casey. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and the concerns you've raised regarding our facilities and cleanliness. Your comments are important to us, and we take them seriously as we work to improve our services. We understand that issues like overcrowding, maintenance, and cleanliness can greatly impact your experience, and we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. We’ll be sure to share your feedback with our management team for further evaluation. If you would like to discuss this further, please reach out to us directly.
Negative experience: The way you guys do your financials is poor. Miss one payment, no notification, have to pay $10 more. It’s stupid. Every other subscription I have says missed payment when they try to bill you, and they don’t charge you $10 extra for missing it. So stoopid
Hello Joseph, we are here to help. We will have someone reach out to you as soon as possible to discuss ways we can assist you in preventing unsuccessful membership payments and avoiding the $10 reversal fee that is incurred when a payment is missed. Thank you.
Negative experience: Despite numerous communications with Goodlife Toowong team, including repeated requests for clarification, and even receiving a confirmation email, we continue to encounter inconsistent information. My mother has been overcharged multiple times and has beet treated aggressively when she went there in person. We have been suffered financially and emotionally. I have invested considerable time in finding the best way to communicate and explain our situation, yet each time we have been treated worse than before.
Hello Ghazal, thank you for leaving a review on behalf of your mother. We take matters like this very seriously and would like to look into this situation, do you mind please reaching out to us on Facebook or Instagram with some more details? Thank you.
Negative experience: Please get some more deadlift platforms - there are currently only 2, and with 30+ members on the floor during peak time, it's really difficult to actually snag one. The other floor areas in the gym are uneven and cause the barbells to roll.
Hello Timothy, thank you for sharing your feedback, we truly appreciate what you have to say as it helps us to improve! We'll pass your suggestions onto the appropriate team members to ensure your voice is heard! In the meantime, do you mind please reaching out to us via Direct Message on our Facebook or Instagram with any specific information you can provide about the flooring (exact locations etc) so that we can address this appropriately with our facilities team? Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Surprised by the poor reviews. I find the gym and staff to be excellent. Service great and good equipment. The only fault I find is not with the gym itself but with some of its clients. Not wiping down equipment after use, rubbish dumped in change rooms. Some people need to start to act like adults.
Thank you for your positive feedback and for sharing your thoughts, Matthew. We're thrilled to hear that you find our gym and staff excellent, and that you appreciate our service and equipment. We'll continue to encourage all clients to maintain a clean and respectful environment. Your input is invaluable to us, and we’ll work on improving this aspect. Thank you for being a part of our community!
Negative experience: Poor customer service from management (short blonde girl / woman), disrespectful and dismissive. As others have posted. The front desk guy who was helping me before she came along was cool though. #goodlifetoowongsucks
Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear about your experience with our customer service. We strive to provide respectful and attentive service to all our members, and it's disappointing to hear we fell short. Please reach out to us directly so we can address your concerns and work towards improving your experience.
Negative experience: Be very careful with this gym. I terminated my membership and my payments stopped... for a month, then they re-started. They admitted this and said they would reimburse me, but it would take 10 business days. It's been 2.5 weeks and I haven't been reimbused anything. Lesson: you have to keep checking your nominated bank account forever to make sure that this gym does not start charging you again after you have terminated.
Hi Stephanie, thank you for reaching out. We are sincerely sorry to hear this. It seems there may have been some confusion, as you had agreed to a discounted rate to continue your membership. The club advised that your membership would need to be set back to ongoing. However, your refund was processed on 15/7/2024. Thanks for your patience.
Negative experience: Equipment very old, and doesn’t include the number of kg’s of what you are lifting on all the machines. Considering for what you are paying it would be nice to have similar quality across all goodlife’s. Machines definitely need an upgrade. Nice that it is quieter than Indooroopilly though
Thank you for your feedback, Chiarra. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the condition of our equipment. We are continuously working to improve our facilities and appreciate your input regarding the need for upgrades. Your comments about the equipment details are noted, and we will consider this in our future enhancements. We're glad you appreciate the quieter atmosphere compared to Indooroopilly. Your feedback helps us strive for better experiences for all our members.
Negative experience: I recently went for a trial at Goodlife Toowong after hearing good reviews from my friends. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The staff were very rude and accused me of being a freeloader. I explained that I was considering switching gyms, but they started pressuring me and asking for personal details and information about my current gym membership. One staff member even commented on my name and questioned its authenticity in a tone that felt discriminatory. They impatiently introduced me to the gym, bombarding me with questions in an accusatory manner. When it came time to discuss membership options, they demanded that I choose one on the spot. When I said I needed time to think, they told me I could use the gym today, but if I didn't sign up, I would have to pay a $25 fee. After I asked for the manager, they reluctantly allowed me to use the gym but continued to make excuses for their poor behavior. Overall, despite the nice space and equipment, I won’t be returning to this gym due to the staff's attitude.
Negative experience: I received a terrible service from store manager Frances in Goodlife Toowong. And I felt being discriminated. I usually go to gym with my husband on the weekend, and sign up as a guest with no issue. We usually go to another club which is staffed on weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. I understand guest has to be in when the club is staffed, and I always make sure to register upfront and show the staff. I went to Goodlife Toowong with my husband and other 2 friends who are members on 30/6/2024, the last day of financial year. It was our very first time there. When we arrived Toowong shopping center, four of us and other 3 people, including the store manager, Frances were in the same lift going to the club. When we got the club, I noticed the entrance door was close. But there was a staff on the reception already, so I though they are staffed today. A club member touched access card on the entrance, the door opened, and all 7 people went into the club. I was walking to the staff on the counter and about to show her my registration ( guest has to register and fill out the form online). Frances walked behind us, and she said something to us( but not to other 2 club members) : they have a new tailgate system, and have to sign us in manually. We patiently waited her to set up her system at reception. And she asked 4 of us to scan our membership cards. My husband touched his card with no issue, by the time I showed her my registration and let her know I’m a guest. She said to us, we are unstaffed today, so either you have to sign up a membership today or pay $100 tailgate fee. I explained to her, sorry this is our first time in this club, we didn’t know you are unstaffed on Sundays, I can leave and Im not going to go in. Then she said: now you know! And there’s printed on the front panel glass that this club is unstaffed on Sundays. She thinks I was trying to sneak in. So the $100 tailgate fee will be applied as soon as I stepped in the club. Frances had attitude when I was trying to explain, like she doesn’t really care about the reasons. All she cares about was to get me to sign up membership or pay $100 tailgate fee. I felt I have been forced to signed up a membership that I don’t need, as I only use gym on the weekend. According to AUsactive, it’s illegal to force people to sign up fitness. I noticed there were group of people came in to the club, Frances and the other staff member didn’t ask them to show their cards and have to “checked in manually”. I wonder if they are using new tailgate system, why it isn’t applied to everyone? I do really think her customer service skills have to be improved. Especially when my friend was trying to explained the situation, Frances was rude and said to her, stop interrupting me, let me finish my sentences. I used to work in retail industry, the service I received from Frances was not a good customer service like, not even close. I wonder would it because today is the last day of financial year so she wants to sell desperately to increase their budget?
Negative experience: I felt being targeted, discriminated and unfairly treated by Goodlife Toowong. Earlier in the morning of Sunday, 30 June 2024, I went to Goodlife Toowong with friends (3 members including myself and 1 guest who completed online guest registration upfront). We usually go to another club which is staffed on Sundays. We are fully aware that if we’re bringing in a guest, the guest must complete online registration first and see a staff member at the reception. This was the very first time we’re here because we wanted to go to a group class held here. We got into the lift from the underground carpark with other people who were also going to the club, including a lady who we later became aware of is the club manager, Frances. As what we normally do at the other club, we touched on our access cards at the entrance. However, we were asked by Frances to wait at the reception as she needed to “sign us in manually” due to the new tailgate system (which I couldn’t really understand why and what that was, or maybe I misunderstood what she was saying). There was a gentleman in the same lift with us, but Frances did not ask him to wait at the reception for the manual sign-in and I wondered why. We patiently waited her to log into the system. Subsequently, the ladies at the reception (there was another staff member already at the reception when we got there) brought out another machine for us to touch on. My friends who are members touched on with no issue. However, when my non-member friend advised Frances that she was a guest and had already registered online, Frances told us that a tailgate fee of $100 would apply because Goodlife Toowong is unstaffed on Sundays. I understand that members cannot bring in a guest when the club is unstaffed, but as we don’t normally come to Goodlife Toowong, we didn’t realise it is unstaffed on Sundays. Also, the fact that there was a staff already at the reception just didn’t lead us to think that the club was unstaffed. Frances said it’s printed on the front panel glass that this club is unstaffed on Sundays, and the tailgate fee applied once my non-member friend stepped into the club premises. I said to Frances that we simply didn’t realise it, and we could leave straightaway, but she insisted that the tailgate fee would be charged regardless. Yes, Frances was doing her job and complying perfectly with Goodlife’s terms and conditions. However, as I said to Frances, I thought it was really unfair as we had never been here before, we’re simply not expecting Goodlife Toowong is so different to the club we usually go to (which is also located in a shopping centre), and thus we didn’t look at the hours noted on the panel glass specifically. I asked if she could waive the tailgate fee for this instance. She said she couldn’t, but she had another option for my friend, which was to join the membership on the spot so that the tailgate fee would not apply – to me, it sounded purely like taking an unfair advantage of my friend. Also, I was really nervous when trying to explain things to Frances, so I unintentionally cut her off a few times. She asked me to stop talking in a really condescending tone. Additionally, I noticed that while I was trying to explain the situation to Frances, there were other people coming into the club. Neither Frances nor the other staff member asked them to wait at the reception for the manual sign-in and I wondered why. I felt Frances was targeting us from the outset, waiting for us to step in the premises, and then to use all means to charge us the tailgate fee. After all, we’re not trying to sneak in. We’re completely honest that we’re bringing in a guest and presented the guest registration to the staff members. If it was not allowed, I would appreciate it if Frances could simply tell us the fact and ask us to leave, rather than showing a condescending attitude and pushing my friend to take out gym membership “to get the fee waived”. Or was it a hard sell at the end of financial year?
Negative experience: Beware! Unfriendly staff, disrespectful, disgusting customer service in Toowong Good life. My friend and I firstly entered into the Centre, I expecting to sign her as a guest. The branch manager made an excuse that we have to sign in manually. I signed and told the staff my friend need to sign in as a guest. The manager told me your friend is tailgating and breach the ruling, you will be fined for $100 since it is unstaffed on Sunday. I said if that’s the case then we won’t enter your gym and we will just leave l. The branch manager insisted that we need to be fined and made a note on my system entry. Very disgusting and we were targeted as I didn’t see any other members behind us were asked to sign in manually. It is believed it was kind of discrimination as I am an Asian immigrant. Very disgraceful and if possible please do not enter this gym as customer service is a disaster. As one of our friend tried to give explanation about that, the gym manager asked my friend to shut up. If Google review could have 0 rating or even negative score l, I will not hesitate to offer that.
Hello there Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and the treatment you and your friend received. Your feedback is extremely important to us, and we looked into it when you left this review. Please be assured that we take allegations of discrimination and poor customer service very seriously.
Positive experience: Great facilities, helpful staff, great value if you go on 18 month plan. My only gripe is this: for a gym this size... only 1 cable row and 1 lat pull down machine? Constantly waiting and cueing for these. Even just 1 more of each would be great!
Hi Graham, thank you for your positive feedback and for highlighting our great facilities and helpful staff. We appreciate your suggestion regarding the availability of machines. Your input is important to us, and we'll take it into consideration as we strive to improve our equipment offerings to better serve our members.
Negative experience: Rude
We are sorry to hear about your experience, Sarah. Unfortunately, we cannot locate a membership under this name to contact you directly. We would love the opportunity to understand your experience better and see how we can assist. Please feel free to reach out to us via social media DMs.
Fantastic experience: Goodlife Toowong is my home away from home. The team are family. It's a good feeling to know they are always there for me caring about my physical and mental well-being. They continue to add zest and sparkle to all the classes and constantly upgrade and moderenise the equipment. Come and be part of it. Make them your family too. Pete Rudder. Radio DJ for over 40 years.
Thank you for your heartfelt review, Pete! We're thrilled to hear that Goodlife Toowong feels like home for you and that our team has become like family. It's our pleasure to support your physical and mental well-being, and we're delighted that you enjoy our classes and updated equipment. We welcome everyone to join our community and experience the same sense of belonging. We appreciate your endorsement and look forward to continuing to serve you.
Fantastic experience: Goodlife Toowong is definitely my favourite gym because of the accessibility, helpful staff and excellent equipment layout. The cardio classes and personal training sessions are structured perfectly and gym users are super friendly.
Thank you for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that Goodlife Toowong is your favorite gym. It's great to know you appreciate the accessibility, our helpful staff, and the equipment layout. We're also glad you enjoy the cardio classes and personal training sessions. Your kind words about the friendly atmosphere mean a lot to us. Thanks for being a part of our community!
Negative experience: Rude and useless staff, specially the girl. Thieves. Increasing the membership and not canceling even when i had the most reasonable reason. They charged me for 12month as a black member. Never sign up with this gym.
Hi Rosa, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are truly sorry to hear about your negative experience. To help us look into your membership, please reach out to us directly via social media. We couldn't locate a membership under your name. Thank you!
Negative experience: Good gym, clean and newish machines. Don't bother getting a membership if you plan on going at peak times. Too many people for what equipment they have.
Hello Jamie, we're glad you love the gym and our equipment! We acknowledge we can be busy at times, but we take that as a sign that a lot of people love training with us too! We're open 24:7 and hope to accommodate for everyone and their different schedules. Thank you so much for the rating and your feedback, if you'd like to provide any further observations, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via DM on Facebook/Instagram.
Negative experience: Tired, shabby, grimey and -apparently- over subscribed. It compares very poorly to other gyms, including other Goodlife. The men's changing rooms stink of damp (the leaking roof maybe a clue!), the toilets are frequently blocked. Often no soap/hand cleanser. The gym equipment looks like it was borrowed from the Bronx 40 years ago. Machines with a standing/deadweight are not marked and no one knows what the figures are. Have the Swiss balls ever been cleaned? It's always very busy, so you can never do a routine and many users don't bother using a towel or cleaning the machines after sweating all over then. The gym needs some serious investment and better management. Unless you live next door, not recommended.
We're truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at our gym. Your feedback is crucial for us to improve, and we're taking your concerns seriously. We apologise for the condition of our facilities, including the issues with the changing rooms, toilets, and equipment. Rest assured, we're actively working to address these issues, including improving cleanliness and maintenance protocols. We are striving to make significant improvements. Your input is invaluable to us, and we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. If you have any further concerns or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly on 1300 393 733 or via social media. We're dedicated to providing a better experience for all our members.
Negative experience: Customer service so bad
We're truly sorry to learn about this and would appreciate the chance to delve deeper into your experience. Please feel free to connect with us via social media to provide further details. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Amazing trainers! Bron & Ian are the real deal. Thanks heaps guys!
Thank you so much for the kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you had a positive experience with Bron and Ian.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities - brand new cardio equipment and new sled track looks amazing. Great to see it being revamped!
Yay Frances! We are so excited to hear you're loving it, thank you!
Negative experience: As soon as i stepped my in to this gym, my head and body just screamed "No!" I had only been a member for not even 48h before i asked to cancel my membership. - The gym is old and the equipment looks likes it comes from who knows when! It's rusty, worn out and you cant see the numbers on the weights, so i had to guess basically. - Don't expect to find equipment for the cabel stations, because there aren't any. Dont bother looking for them. - They clearly spent a lot of money on the locker rooms when they should've spent it on getting their machines/equipment an upgrade instead. It is definitely not worth ur money and this gym is expensive! Please ask for a free trial before signing up. I made the mistake of not doing that, being impulsive dosent benefit you here.
Thank you, Emma, for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry we weren't the best fit for your needs. Your feedback is valuable to us as we strive to constantly enhance our services and we have noted this down to address with our team. We hope for the chance to assist you in your training at one of our clubs in the future; perhaps Goodlife Indooroopilly, just an 8-minute drive from Goodlife Toowong, could better align with your training preferences. If you'd like to find out more or provide us with any further feedback at any time, please reach out to us on Facebook/Instagram. Regardless of your decision, we extend our best wishes for your health and fitness journey. Thank you once again for your honesty.
Fantastic experience: Personally, I had a good experience. I've been going for about 2 months and I am always satisfied. The staff are friendly and proactive and the atmosphere is often encouraging. I do have to note that sometimes there is not enough equipment available during busy hours (being used by people) but everything else is good.
Negative experience: Average, always too busy!
Negative experience: Awful customer service
Fantastic experience: Gorgeous gym.plenty of space... great vibe friendly staff... warm and welcoming..excellent classes great spin room.. bike need updating tho
Fantastic experience: If you are a student, there are some great deals, else would recommend waiting for one of their sales, though the recent one was 'only' 8 weeks at half price. As for the gym itself, it is well designed with a great cardio machine area up front (ellipticals, bikes, treadmills and rowing machines), followed by an open area often used for a variety different circuits / classes / PT. Then there are the free weights + weight machines, and finally the cycle studio + classes studio. There is pretty good 24/7 access and moderate parking options, though being located in Toowong village can mean it can get very busy. Note - I am very much a classes person, and those have been great, and have not yet needed to deal with staff much, hence why my review / rating differs - this may change in time
Negative experience: Need renovation
Fantastic experience: goodlife toowong lowkey slays
Negative experience: When the Gym was fitness first, it was fine as the size of the gym and ratio of members worked. When they changed to the good life brand, there was an influx of members from other clubs. It was oversubscribed, and lining up to use equipment is not uncommon no matter what time of day. Otherwise, it was a convenient gym with well-equipped gear.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and terrific classes.
Negative experience: This company is scamming people out of hard earned money!! I want to give 0 stars. Goodlife Toowong scammed me into a payment plan that aparantly I cannot get out of. I never used the membership and asked for consideration during a difficult time in my life. I was told my account would be put on a temporary hold to help me out which they didn't do. I was mislead in the initial point of contact with them, which they gas light me about saying "I don't know where you got this information from". They are hard to get hold of considering that I work full time. I have now moved (Which I told the person during sign up and I even told them my new suburb, I was told, Oh yes we have gyms everywhere and you will be able to use your membership after you move) - closest Goodlife gym to me is 45mins drive away. This company is scamming people out of hard earned money!! DON'T SIGN UP TO GOOD LIFE!!! The name is misleading.
Negative experience: Wondering why even though my membership was cancelled at the start of November they still need to take payments out until the 7th of December. Scammers, disgusting especially when you’re trying to move interstate and you have constant payments coming out. The payments should stop when the membership is cancelled, not continue for another 4-5 weeks.
Negative experience: When someone ask me why I ‘LOVE’ my gym…
Negative experience: Nice and spacious but the equipment is old, grimy, and in dire need of replacing...
Negative experience: Sometimes its best to just roll with the majority comments, in sydney good life (fitness first) gym is a premium gym known for high quality equipment and known for being very clean, this is more close to a ghetto gym with the extras, ill suss out the one in Indooroopilly and if thats a dud too i may as well sign up to a tiny ghetto gym,, atleast it will be cheaper and not so congested... Though some good points would be it is a 24/7 gym and is located in toowong shopping centre which is quite nice to smash out grocery after gym or eat too if you come during opening hourss
Negative experience: Busy gym. Not enough room or equipment for the capacity this gym allows. Steam room in constant state or repair.
Negative experience: I really wish I could give this more stars but this gym is horrible. All if not most of the machines need to be replaced. It’s unhygienic (there is never any clean towelettes, other customers don’t wipe down after their sets, the attachments and other items are grimey). I don’t think I will be coming back here for a long time. Glad I paid for the passport.
Negative experience: The worst gym ever! The facilities are locked outside office hours. Why members should pay for facilities only accessible during office hours! Utterly ridiculous!!!!
Negative experience: I would like to call upon all people who have been ignored, scammed and lied by the staff at goodlife toowong and get us all together to file an action class lawsuit against this bloody gym. We cannot just let them get away with this by taking our hard earned money like that. We have to teach them a lesson on how they are suppose to be honest with their customers. Email me and then we can get started with it
Negative experience: Very poor customer service. Not welcoming at all. Only push you to sign up for a membership. The free trial is a fake trap.
Negative experience: The customer service is very bad, made me pay for something that was listed as free under a membership.
Negative experience: The gym and equipments is nice but COSTUMERS SERVICE IS JUST DISGUSTING. Stuff without any competencies to service the people are paying gym looking for a good experience. I'm a immigrant and suffered harassment at this gym by a manager (mr. Karl), plus they didn't honoured the deals about payment plans and currently blocked my access to the gym due their on staff failure and "we are generously gonna wave the late payment feews to you as a kind regards" I trained in Australia in all big brand gyms for 6y amd never was disrespected by that. STUFF AT THIS GYM IS COMPLETELY DISGUSTING WITHIN ANY PROFESSIONALISM.
Negative experience: DO NOT RECOMMEND! If I could rate 0 Stars I would, this GoodLife in particular has stolen so much money from me because of broken promises/payment arrangements (employees saying they'll send the link to pay and never end up sending it until money accumulates week after week while customer is unknown to this) Continuously ignoring phone calls and Employees simply not doing their job as stated in their criteria.
Negative experience: Management is extremely poor, with a rude, overweight manager that is more interested in making excuses as to why their brand is so terrible, rather than actually taking on constructive feedback and looking to change their lacklustre offering for the better. If she was capable of self reflection, she would notice what a poor image that she is of a fitness brand, as well as that their systems, equipment and overall package is substandard and outdated. Her ego is only outweighed only by her incompetence to deliver any type of customer service, and should probably not be in any type of customer facing job. Disgusted at best... gross.
Negative experience: The equipment at the gym is quite old, and squeaks. The slam balls have been broken all year. The second large box has been gone for months and hasn’t been replaced There are least 3 treadmills on which the incline function does not work at all. One of the assault bikes is broken and hasn’t been fixed. I know a lot of other gyms get updated with popular machines, such as a hip thrust machine and stair climbers which this gym does not have. The gym floor doesn’t seem to get cleaned, the toilets are often dirty. The santisation wipes are frequently empty, there was a long period where the gym had none. The soap for the showers is also frequently empty, I have to check each shower to find one that’s been filled. The women’s bathroom almost never has any paper towels (the container is always empty). There are no bar pads, recently you can collect them from reception only when reception is staffed, meaning you cannot use them when reception is not staffed. These bar pads are not thick enough for hip thrusts. A lot of the equipment is not multifunction, for example, most of the benches are not adjustable, and the ones that are wobble when you use them. There could be more attatchents, I’ve noticed there’s only at most 2 of each, these often run out and it would be really helpful to have more.
Negative experience: Was told it was a 24 hour gym but could not access after hours with my card after hours
Negative experience: Beware- they are dishonest and will not let you quit and will keep charging you! I joined on a month to month for flexibility of being able to cancel with 30 days notice. I gave notice to cancel at the reception and they conveniently did not process this despite telling me they had done so. When I disputed this they confirmed by email I had cancelled and that my last payment would be deducted 2 weeks ago... Now they are still charging me and no response about a refund or if they will actually cancel! Not worth it.
Positive experience: Equipment is pretty mid, very dated, the benches are very unstable.
Negative experience: It takes a high level of commitment for a place to get this rundown. Every mat is flaking. Every ceiling tile is stained. Every body-pump bar is rusty. In the cycle studio the bikes have 3 adjustment points; at least one of these is broken on every bike. Instructors are great but their audio equipment is terrible. Not too sure about cleanliness either. Hygiene wipe dispensers are regularly empty.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Spacious, and HEAPS of quality equipment. Excellent bathroom facilities with everything you need. Wish the fans all worked though and wish the water was cold
Fantastic experience: Staff are very helpful
Negative experience: Good range of equipment and spacious but that’s where the positives end. For something that was once marketed as a “Premium” Goodlife it’s no wonder all Fitness First clubs were closed down as FLG wasn’t interested in putting any money into these clubs that have now been converted to Goodlife. From the rusted, outdated equipment to the mouldy ceiling it’s in desperate need of a refurb Harsh but true unfortunately
Fantastic experience: Definitely it gotten better ever since goodlife took over. Wish shower facility is more private and separated sauna will be even better.
Positive experience: Great place to workout. Group Classes are very busy so one needs to come in early to find a spot.
Negative experience: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!!! I had a terrible experience at the gym, this is the worst gym I have ever been to, the customer service is dreadfully poor and non-existent. I made a complaint to the club manager, regional manager and state operations manager about bullying and intimidating behavior of a member at the club (he kept constantly looking at me in an irritated manner when I was standing nearby watching TV to find out what the Broncos score was) and it fell on deaf ears, they weren't at all interested, their attitudes are disgusting, this is disgraceful, I shouldn't have to put with that. I cancelled my membership and will never go back to the gym ever again
Negative experience: background story: my sis and i was looking for a gym, and decided to pick this one since it was near to our place. but we have been hesitating as we have been really busy. so prior to joining the gym, a staff told us she can help us postpone the start date + they r flexible, we can cancel anytime we want to, just let them know before the next payment date. and hence we did. as we only attended a total of ONE session, we have decided to cancel our membership. we texted the staff that we have been communicating closely. then out of a sudden we receive messages asking us to pay. I then screenshot all the evidence to show that we did contact them. but all they say was “we didn’t receive it”? I then received a email stating that they will just bill us “$2XX” in total for both my sister and I. Later they then switched it to $2XX for each person. (which we ended up paying $165.39 each). it’s really triggering. because firstly they said it will be flexible. oh, i then requested them to send me a copy of the cancellation policy that i signed. - they proceeded to send me a copy of policy that i haven’t seen before, and told my sister they have lost the copy that i signed…… lastly, when my sister went over to “confront” them to get the facts right - the staff didn’t dare to look at her. so yeap. really really bad experience. and what lead us to pay? they looked for a debt collector. lol. just scroll through all the reviews, y’all will know that many people are facing this problem. my bad for not doing enough research.
Negative experience: Absolutely impossible to get a hold of them. They keep on charging me even though they needed to stop and were not authorised. Extremely disappointed with this brunch! They are refusing to respond to emails and are not picking up their phone. I am travelling and am unable to physically go there. Extremely frustrated and annoyed with this gym.
Negative experience: I have tried about four of your treadmills and the incline feature doesn't work, it says incline can it be adjusted. Very dissapointing and means you can't use these treadmills properly.
Negative experience: Worst gym ever. They cancelled several fitness classes without any consultation with long time customers. The HIIT classes are taken by instructors with no interest in the class. They just wait for the clock to tick away while standing there like life less robots. When I complained about the above via FB, I was given an extremely ignorant response by the group fitness manager. I complained several times at the desk and they ignored my comments. I finally decided to cancel my membership. Stayed a member through the pandemic only to be rewarded with ignorance and lack of concern for customer satisfaction. I would discourage anyone from joining this gym unless they are interested in wasting their money.
Fantastic experience: Totally boutique style! Rock your workouts in a positive and tranquil space. Love this gym.
Positive experience: Fitness First used to be a Premium health club. Sadly it's lost that. Firstly, the staffed hours are poor. Close early on Fridays Limited hours on Saturday. Unstaffed Sunday I understand the gym has 24hr swipe card access, but that does not allow full use of the club facilities (Sauna & Steam room). So in a world where they charge more than other 24/7 gyms because of their facilities, it's not ideal to be unstaffed so customers can't use the facilities. The parking is not ideal, but thats not the end of the world. There is pretty frequest issues with some of the machines, being out of action. The adjustable benches are terrible to use The leg press is horrible Sauna never gets really hot as there is a constant cool air flow coming from under the seats, and it's quite small only allowing 2 people with Covid restrictions, though i am not sure you would want more than that in there anyway. Don't get me wrong, there are good bits about the gym. Cardio equipment is good. Multi function training area is good (Including dead lifting platforms) Group Fitness areas are good But, you just expect more from a Fitness First. Up to date equipment, a pool, and longer staffed hours. All in all, the gym is ok. but it's a premium price tag, without the premium experience.
Negative experience: I don't have a complain about the gym or the classes. but if you try to cancel your membership make sure you keep records. it took me 3 months to get a reply regarding my membership cancelation requested back in November but they didn't kept records and mistakenly didn't do I. They just continues charging me and no matter how many times I emailed and visited the club only now (Feb 2022) they gave me a reply.
Positive experience: Friendly staff but too pushy. They kept calling me even when I didn't want to join. Distance is a bit far for me.
Negative experience: Like the other people in this review, Me and my partner got in the complex systemic rip off, I am tired being contacting whatever team or authority you have, all I know I convinced my the front reception to join of Toowong fitnessfirst, I paid to toowong branch, the front reception assured me to get admission and during admission time also mentioned no problem will be cancel anytime as u have medical ground, I can communicate with anyone as I failed after trying to contact as they made it so difficult for people to cancel. Still I am getting charged, no one contacted, and during Pandemic even they haven’t let my partner go and forced to pay as well in that hard time though she hasn’t done any gym had to pay 1 year money. But still after doing so and providing medical documentation still getting ripped off.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. The staff a great. The PTs are always willing to help you if needed. Group classes are fun! Very happy
Positive experience: Lovely small gym club. It does have everything if you want to go in and get a quick workout done. Some of the staff are friendly and some not so much. I guess it’s a industry standard. Overall experience was great and Steve is a lovely guy to talk to. I will recommend it to my friends. The reason l haven’t given you a 5 Star is because the welcome is not where it should be but l am sure you are all working on it - don’t give up.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, nice atmosphere lots of equipment.
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff, really big facility, new equipment
Fantastic experience: This is my favourite gym by far! Have been to a bunch of different fitness firsts and goodlife gyms but this one is the only one I have ever felt comfortable/ not judged at. All the trainers are super friendly and remember your name when you come to classes. I have met heaps of friendly people and honestly could go to a gym more convenient to where I Iive, but I chose to stick with Toowong because of the culture and atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff and great gym! Covid safe
Negative experience: They promised me to give a certain type of discount. I said I am happy with it and went there to be a member on the day as we talked on the phone. But when I was there they came up with other membership options which are more expensive and it wasn't the plan that I accepted. Obviously I chose not to be a member. That's not a good thing to do guys, do whatever you promise!
Negative experience: Yes, I have been communicating with Georgia to change my home gym to NSW, because I couldn't access the gym due to some system changes in the NSW during may and June. My request has been ignored despite from almost 10 email threads. Now, I am still getting charged despite from the NSW lockdown, just because my home gym is still in Toowong location. Could you please change my home gym? This is causing so much trouble to me. I have been paying a rate and couldnt not access the gym for 1 month previously. I am very unhappy with the service in the Toowong fitness first.
Positive experience: Gym is large, lots of classes which is good. Locker system can't be used outside of staff hours and no policing on wipedowns, towels, or guests dropping weights in low-noise areas. Also weird that there are no mirrors in front of the racks.
Negative experience: Cardio equipment old, always broken and never gets fixed. Toilets smell musty. No policing from staff on non-use of towels on equipment.
Fantastic experience: It’s really nice gym. If you’re looking for a personal trainer ask about Callum. He is a professional PT.
Fantastic experience: نادي مستمر في العمل ل٢٤ ساعة، متوفر فيه ساونا والاجهزة فيه متنوعة
Negative experience: One of the worst management I've ever seen .It's really annoying to get an entry into the gym coz the lift is always under maintenance being a 24hrs client I'm still unable to get roof top entry access and wasted so much time in waiting there for someone to help .Definitely not recommended if you wanna come after staff hours these guys are really picky and particular about payments but not about service
Negative experience: FIX THE ELEVATOR PLEASE
Fantastic experience: So amazing, everyone is so friendly and helpful. It is really a great vibe for everyone who comes here; those who are super fit and those who are trying to get super fit.
Positive experience: Coming from Lutwyche Fitness first, I find Toowong Fitness first to be small and unorganised, like leg extension and leg curls aren't next to one another
Fantastic experience: Great to be back
Fantastic experience: Good friendly joint. Can get busy around peak times. Good covid awareness, people wipe down and staff are very conscious.
Fantastic experience: Friendly Helpful Staff The Staff are doing their best to cope with the Covid 19 issue.. Totally Awesome Gym
Negative experience: My friend and I attended the fitness first centre at 12:02 on a Saturday. Unbeknownst to us, the manning in the gym closes at 12pm. My friend and I don't have unmanning hour access on our cards. Seeming as though there was still a lady behind the counter working there we figured it would be okay to ask her for the access on our cards. She was frustrated by our request, refused to let us into the gym, advised us that the 24 hour access includes a 15 minute introduction and whilst the gym was techniquely unmanned at that time she couldn't let us in. 2 minutes after 12:00pm. She directed us to the Indooroopilly centre. Needless to say, we won't be going back there. I'm sure all of us have had to stay back at work an extra 5 minutes in our lives. Incredibly rude and unhelpful.
Positive experience: Visited on a three day pass Decent sized gym with lots of machines. Great classes - I really enjoyed the HIIT classes. Very big studio for the lesmills classes like body attack. Staff - quite impressed with the staff. Tegan was very friendly and there was one time I was stretching in a weird way (was exhausted from the class!) on the ground head tucked down towards the floor and a PT came up to me to check if I was okay. Bathroom - didn’t use it so not too sure but toilet was clean enough Place - a little difficult to find if you haven’t been there before
Negative experience: I literally want to vomit just thinking back to the experience I had here. I was considering signing back up, a year down the line from leaving them last, but read some reviews and was reminding of the horrors. They will not stop billing you, long after you leave and having gone through head office members emailing me refusing refunding stolen amounts I would rather drink water from the Brisbane for the rest of my life than set eyes on this festering pit again.
Positive experience: Weights are in poor shape. Bits of rubber falls into your eyes. Just make sure you close your eyes when doing bench with dumbells if you want to keep your eyes free from debris
Fantastic experience: Great, clean, the circuit classes are the best Kreet and Jack are good PTs love the circuit classes. U sweat like never in only 30 mins sesh.
Negative experience: Classes are really great, but just be care for the sign up thing, they will keep charging you unless you told them you want to cancel, contract means nothing to them.
Negative experience: Edit: Please stop calling me every week to rejoin your gym. I’m not interested thanks. They need to do an emergency revamp on their equipments. The dips handles are rusty and most equipments seems too old. Make sure you get a tetanus shot before using any of their rusty equipments. I hope they put a bit more care on upgrading their equipments for the money they charge you!
Positive experience: Very friendly staff and atmosphere, but the equipment needs more regular professional/deep cleaning, and alot of it could do with replacement.
