Positive experience: Pro's: big gym, staff usually greet you Cons: prone to extreme overcrowding, go off peak or use another gym. I also had a bizarre interaction with a female class instructor pushing in front of me in a line for a water fountain as "she was late and running a class". In 15 years at the gym this was a first . Does the job but for the same cost you could probably get much better

Negative experience: The gym itself is okay but the customer service is desperate. I had to cancel my membership due to medical issues 6 months ago and I am still waiting to be refunded for additional weeks charged despite many emails back and forth and assurance it was coming. I followed procedures and supplied a GP medical cert ($) and they're making pregnant person chase up multiple times. They lock you in and don't let you leave.. I won't be a return customer when back in full health.

Positive experience: The equipment in general is quite worn and old. There are very few plates on the bench press and machine set ups. There is zero fitness bands for stretching or chin up assistance. The change seats are all split and worn out. For a "platnum" gym, it doesnt feel very premium. The size of the gym is good, staff are friendly, not too over-crowded in the mornings 6-8am.

Negative experience: Reform Pilates the service is too bad, very unprofessional, often chatting with the customer, It was also very noisy and totally inconsiderate of other people in class. It's unbelievable and very rude and bad attitude! The service at the front desk was also very poor and did not do what it was supposed to. The facilities are dirty and the toilets are dirty. The lockers were dirty and the gym smelled terrible. Everything is too bad!I don't understand that such a high charge really has such a poor service and environment!

Positive experience: Good Gym in shopping centre so parking is easy. two levels are Big, spacious, great group training, good weight selection, balls, bags, sacks, bands and bars, heaps of machines, cable resistance plus decent bathroom with saunas and some chill zones, great sled track with sea view gone 20+ times with various friends - fit healthy folks

Negative experience: Horrible cancellation policy. Supposedly, you have to give a month’s notice before you cancel your membership. Was never even notified about this policy. Had been going for 3+ years, now leaving the country and they still charge me a month’s worth of membership, which you are unable to stop. Very bad look. Nothing special either in terms of equipment. Probably worth it looking elsewhere!

Negative experience: Disgusting gym I can’t believe they call it Platinum. The men’s toilets are smelling like rotten fish and 2 of 4 are out of order and so is the hand dryer. Upstairs at the gym there are signs everywhere “wipe equipment after use” but the all the wipes are empty.

Negative experience: Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Was overcharged twice by this gym and I am still to this day waiting on a call back from the manager, which I was promised numerous times after calling the gym continuously. It is rare that they answer the phone and when they do, you are put on hold until they return to tell you they have no manager in today so no solution. Not worth the hassle.

Negative experience: My first time in a pump class in ages and this awful instructor Shelly accused me of putting weights back mid class rather waiting for the end of class, despite having no weights in my hand nor touching the weight stand. .She pointed me out 3 x in front of everyone until I realised she meant me. As if that wasnt embarassing enough. On the next track I walked to the other side of the room to grab an extra hand weight. She evil eyed me as I walked back and wouldnt start the track, until I was back at my spot, ensuring everyone could see I was the one holding the class up. No other instructors take issue with ppl grabbing extra weights, in fact they encourage it, nor do they wait for them. But no this is still not enough at the end of the class, she made a statement clearly aimed at me by announcing ' Thanks to all of those who respected everyone around them by following the OHS rules'. Basically calling me disrespectful, is this woman for real? . First of all her accusation was unfounded and all of te above was unnecessary . Other woman mentioned later that she has an attitude problem and always has an issue with someone. BEWARE IF YOU STEP FOOT INTO HER CLASS.

Negative experience: I am quite puzzled by the gym's attainment of a platinum label. The equipment is outdated and frequently malfunctions, particularly the aging treadmills. The facility consistently lacks cleanliness, and the presence of high school children using the gym has transformed the environment into what best can be described as a ‘adolescent daycare center’. Moreover, addressing these concerns with management has yielded unsatisfactory responses, indicating a lack of concern. I have decided not to return to the gym and have been going to their competitor’s gym (Anytime Fitness) in the same shopping centre which offers better equipment and an overall better environment.

Negative experience: Smells like a foot, equipment is constantly broken and way to many people. PTS don’t actually teach form. I would never pay for it. Having to watch them is a joke though

Negative experience: Gyms started to get a LOT busier even during off peak hours. That combined with trainers and users putting towels on 2 or 3 seperate pieces of equipment means actually getting anything useful out of the gym is pretty impossible in an hour.

Negative experience: The staff's incompetence ruined my experience! If you're considering going overseas and freezing your membership, brace yourself for a frustrating ordeal with the staff. I ended up shelling out over 300 AUD without any clear explanation. It's ridiculous to have to think twice about choosing this fitness center.

Negative experience: This gym is kind of gross. The steam room is mouldy and slimey. There isn’t an amazing range of equipment. There are always bugs and leaks. No idea why it’s a platinum. I also find some of the male personal trainers super disrespectful. They take up heaps of Space with their clients. One time a PT was throwing a small handball for his client to catch…. No idea why…. But it nearly hit me in the face multiple times and they kept going. I tried to complain at the front desk but the guy there just kind of ignored me for ages while I stood there. He was doing something else and I ended up just leaving. I’m a current member but really trying to find another better gym in the area. I wouldn’t recommend.

Negative experience: I would give 0 stars if I could, just for the dodgy business practices. The gym in itself is fine, but they are making it impossible to cancel and keep charging you money through direct debit after they've said they would cancel. It's close to impossible to get an email reply with anything related to cancellation. I've just had to call in again after seeing another direct debit on my account even though my cancellation was supposed to have gone through already. Do NOT give them your credit card details unless you are confident you want to have money taken out every week until you are 6 feet under (and even then, they probably won't let you cancel).

Negative experience: Poor customer service. I was charged for my 2-week free trial. I spoke to the reception desk over 5 times about a refund over the course of 3 months. They told me refund was on the way several times. I ended up filing a dispute with my bank to receive the money.

Negative experience: This is one of the worst gyms I’ve been to. No matter what time it is, it is packed to the brim. How is it possible that at 6am, I cannot even get a bench. There’s not enough staff to ensure weights are put back where they belong. The equipments are also extremely old. It would make sense for FF to reorganise the equipment so they are evenly spaced, but no, they are all packed to one side of the room. I only go here because it’s walking distance from my house but would prefer to go to Plus or Anytime Fitness. Not worth it for the price when there are much nicer gyms for a lot cheaper.

Positive experience: Gym is super fine, equipment is cool, lockers are clean, sometimes not that much, showers as well, but… please stop signing in people, it is understandable that is good for the business but not for customers when Mondays are really crowded!!! You can barely use an equipment cause someone else is waiting for it! The same goes for the busy hours the rest of the week… around 9pm people start leaving but then you’ll have 1 hour to do weights and cardio… it is making the equipment being overuse and the maintenance is not happening.

Positive experience: Adequate gym. Needs to add a hot yoga room, and barre attack, in order to be on par with other Platinum FF gyms. Only having one group fitness class room (apart from the cycle room) really limits the class frequency and range

Negative experience: Not a bad place. Equipment is pretty decent and the stuff seem pretty friendly. Everytime I go there though to wipe down a machine after using some gym equipment the wipes are gone and it's hard to find some cleaning product.

Fantastic experience: It’s been over 20 years since I last visited a gym but walking into Fitness First Randwick I felt like I was at home. The staff are lovely and welcoming and I found the class instructors to be patient, helpful and supportive. After 2 days of a 5 day free trial I signed up for 12 months.

Negative experience: Expensive gym for its size. Often dirty, people leave baby wipes in the cup holders on most machines. No one puts the weights back in the right place. Not 24/7 gym which is annoying. Usually too busy in peak times to use any of the equipment. Good gym for someone who works-out between 9:30am and 2:30pm, is lazy and has poor hygiene.

Negative experience: They are not informing you about cancellation fee which is 240$. And when you sign 1 year contract, it is actually 14 months and some weeks for no reason they charge you more than your normal fee. And when you go there to talk, no one is able to help you. Stay Away from Fitness First!!!!!

Negative experience: This gym is 'useable' for a workout and that's about the most positive thing I can say. The customer service is utterly atrocious. The reception staff are unhelpful and do not always operate consistently with fitness first policies (though the PTs are nice). The equipment selection is quite underwhelming and there has been a bucket in the middle of the gym floor for about 9 months because the ceiling is constantly leaking. Significant difficulty/ refusal to provide a refund following being overcharged after cancelling my membership - ultimately had to go to a different fitness first, where my refund was sorted within 1hr of sending an email.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, wide selection of equipment but can get pretty busy at peak periods so be prepared. A note it has 6 squat racks and 5-7 flat benches for free weights workouts with 6+ treadmills. Some of the lockers don't work and the roof could use a fix. Other than that a good gym with friendly staff.

Negative experience: Posting this review given emails to club GM went unanswered. Clearly they have more important things to do. Club Is in very poor state of repair. Change room often filthy. Steam room hardly ever works (had Out of Order sign for weeks and weeks). Lockers in the locker room for the most part do not lock, and management seems to have no interest whatsoever. Whoever decided to label this a Platinum club must never have visited the place. The gym floor itself has had ceiling leaks for years. They no longer even bother fixing it- ceiling panels are falling apart and visible moldy. Wondering if FF HQ has an interest in this club - must assume it is captive membership (obviously hasn’t noticed the new Anytime Fitness opening next door). UPDATE -2 years later. Haven’t been here for some time but can report that even the most basic repairs have not happens since my last review. Below you can see what FF considers a Platinum facility.

Negative experience: A very untidy and unsanitary gym space. Equipment filthy. Equipment always scattered everywhere. Staff rarely clean up and members rarely put equipment back where they found it. Lockers rarely ever lock. A members survey is sent out once a year. Feedback never adhered to.

Positive experience: They advertise Yoga class, however when I went there was just a TV with a video and none in the room. That's so wrong. It's so ridiculous that some excercises managers could think Yoga can be taught alone with a TV. It's Pathetic

Negative experience: The gym and teachers are OK but I decided in January 2022 to cancel my membership because the early morning classes were mostly virtual. I would prefer a real teacher. Anyway when I tried to cancel I tried calling the cancellation number and leaving messages but no reponse. So then I emailed this branch and asked them to cancel. I found out 6 months later that my membership was not cancelled and they were still charging me (it was to an account I dont normally monitor). Now going through the process of cancelling again and was asked why i didnt walk in to cancel my membership? Lucky i have an email as proof - so beware!

Fantastic experience: Fitness first - Randwick Platinum NSW Randwick platinum Fitness first is my happy place! The Staff are always smiling, their approachable and always willing to help! The gym welcome any age group- I am in my 60’s and I find that the trainers have excellent communication skills and genuinely care for your well been. From a hygiene prospective, I find that the gym is clean, there are always cleaners on-site and there is generous supply of organic disinfectant and wipes making me safe with Covid. The studios and the open floor area are packed with the latest equipment. I really enjoy the group classes- Pilates, Yoga, dance which are always full of friendly people. The instructors and personal trainers make the gym a warm welcoming place. I’m lucky to call Randwick Platinum Fitness First my local Gym! Thank you guys! Tami Cheers

Positive experience: gym very well equipped, very spacious and in good condition. At first I can say that it was a pleasant surprise, unfortunately over time I see that it is a gym with people with a lack of civic sense. leave everything messy, occupy 2 and 3 machines at the same time. often don't use towels. with so much staff available they should spend more time alerting people to the gym rules until they are polite. but my criticism is for people (clients) who go to the gym and not to the gym. There are people who like to live like pigs, but when we live in society we have to respect the common space and try to be at least respectful of others.

Negative experience: Terrible for training in the morning. They don’t open until 6AM weekdays despite always having a line of around 80 people waiting when they open. I don’t understand why they don’t align with almost all other Fitness Firsts in the area that open at 5AM. I would not class this service or facilities as a platinum gym.

Positive experience: Steam room never works properly...Sometimes at all and has no out of order sign either. You can tell the management whatever and they never listen. Great waste of time. Gym has many more members that it can actually fit in. It feels regularly cleaned once a month!(always filthy- don't even try to have a shower there) go some place else if u can! Definitely should not have a platinum badge...

Fantastic experience: Hours back to normal so now rating 5 stars. Communication with members could have been better & I'd still love to see live stats on how busy it is, but still a good gym overall. Toilet cleanliness could be improved & after hours access (in line with shopping centre) in the future.

Negative experience: I wish i never subscribed. Poor poor poor customer service, so indifferent. Plus, they never have towels, they say they run out but they don't have them neithier at 8am on monday morning!! and the gym equipment is so poor and often broken, i am speechless and very fraustrated that i spend a lot of money every week to have such a disservice and i can;t stop my subscription.

Negative experience: I am not surprised that the average ranking is so poor for this gym. Worst experience ever, I can't wait my subscription to expire to change gym! The customer service is inexistent, there are always gym equipment broken. You steal an hour from your busy day to come to the gym and there is always something that does not work or they always run out of something: towels, sanitizer etc... They promote they have services in place as the towel rent service but they don't! People at the front desk so indifferent to any complain you do in any way possible, with the smile, a little disappointed.. nothing works.

Negative experience: This is the only fitness first in Sydney which is to incompetent to stock towels. They say you must use a towel and you can hire one at front reception. Yet they haven’t had any for over two months of visits. Also their hygiene cleaning stations products always seem to be empty as well. This is particularly important now with the new COVID rules. Not sure what has happened to this gym. They seem like they have little care for hygiene in this environment. Not the best look for a franchise of this size.

Negative experience: Have called all day trying to cancel 2 memberships. Each call told me I was 26th or 30th in the que so I had an estimate wait of 30minutes.... this continued all day??? They the. Give you the option to leave your number for a call back but it doesn’t actually take your number. So to cancel you must be put through to by staff yet staff don’t deal with a thing. And there’s no direct contact number. SUCH A WELL THOUGHT OUT SCAM

Positive experience: Why close to early? For someone that works the whole day, 8pm isn’t a good deal. I had to freeze many times, because I cant arrive on time to enjoy the gym.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed with FF Randwick's management. After becoming aware that someone who tested positive to COVID attended the gym for 3 days in a row, I called the reception to confirm the time this person attended however the FF's employee did not know so I asked him if he could double check and let me know and he said that he could not (?!). Thankfully, I found the info on the NSW Health website however I find it unacceptable and unprofessional that during a global pandemic, members of the staff are not made aware of times and days someone who tested positive attended the gym and they could not care less about it. I will be probably cancelling my membership as this attitude is very concerning.

Negative experience: I don’t usually ever give negative feedback but I thought I’d express my frustration with fitness first due to multiple issues that have arisen during my time as a member. My first complaint is the staff, at this site majority of staff were rude and short tempered making the experience far less enjoyable. When I called to cancel my membership the person I was on the phone with was extremely rude after I kindly declined the many offers he was giving me to keep my membership. I noticed a immediate change is attitude and he was very rude mannered even though I tried to be as nice as possible. I’m a student and I wasn’t prepared for the amounts of payments fitness first was taking out, they didn’t make clear of the 28 day cancellation period and it was extremely infuriating when money was being taken out of my account even after I’ve already cancelled. Overall, I’m very disappointed with my experience with fitness first and would not recommend it to anyone and if I could give 0 stars I would periodt

Negative experience: I’ve been a long time member and the staff are friendly and professional. The club has recently been refurbished and updated. My gripe is: management decided to swap the trainer led classes with “virtual classes”. It’s the equivalent of having self serve checkouts in supermarkets. I don’t enjoy going anymore and so looking for PT group training. I’m certainly not getting any fitter by copying what I see on a big Plasma screen. I might as well be watching YouTube fitness vids at home! So ummm no thanks Fitness First.
