Negative experience: Worst Gym Experience Ever - Stay Away! I honestly don’t know where to begin. Anytime Fitness in Kingsford is an absolute disaster. I’ve been a member for several months now, and every single visit has been disappointing. The equipment is old and frequently out of order, and the place is rarely clean. The toilets and showers are gross, and the cleaning staff seems to do the bare minimum. The staff? Don’t even get me started. They’re rude, unhelpful, and just seem to want to get rid of you as quickly as possible. I had an issue with my membership and was treated like I was a burden just for asking for help. It’s also impossible to get in touch with them outside of visiting the gym in person - good luck with that if you have any questions or issues. On top of all that, the gym is always overcrowded, especially at peak times. It’s so frustrating trying to get a decent workout in with people everywhere and limited equipment. The management clearly doesn’t care about improving anything, and it shows in how poorly the gym is run. I honestly can’t believe this place is still in business. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else - this gym is a waste of money!

In regards to being able to contact us we are always available by our phone for which our number is 0422 099 901 or via email which is [email protected]. We always will get back to anything missed within a 24 hours period. Our club is a very busy club being one of the best Anytime Fitness Clubs around the globe which does cause a lot of members to use us at peak times. If you are looking for a more quiet experience in club i'd recommend training outside of the 4pm - 9pm window as there are fewer members here outside of those times. The AF app also tells you a rough estimate of members in the club so you can assess if it is the right time for you to train. Our cleaner works from early in the morning but as we do have such a busy club and we cant be staffed 24/7 it does mean there are chances for the club to get messy without us being there. If you do notice a dirty space please let us know the time and day and we will look into it so that we can do our best to ensure its not left that way again. We are always looking to reinvest and build the club to be better as to why we've added machines, changed flooring and hired a full time cleaner so that we can give our members the best possible experience. As per our previous emails we explained our cancellation process and explained that it would require a 30 days notice and we would need you to send through a form of ID for was to start your 30 days notice. We also mentioned if we received no response you account would remain active. This email was sent on the 18/09/2024 with no response. As we didn't receive a responding email your membership remained active. Fantastic experience: Great gym!! Two floors containing every type of equipment needed for a good workout. This is definitely the best Anytime Fitness around this area
Fantastic experience: Brand new gym and full equipment! I had a good experience overall. My only suggestion is to separate the M/F bathrooms and regular cleaning, it could get real bad sometimes.
Negative experience: Apart from that the gym is constantly packed at any given time and it’s impossible to workout properly unless you’re willing to wait up to 10min for specific machines / exercises, the worst thing about it is its staff. From one day to the next and without my consent they decided to deactivate my physical fob, later explaining me that they’re transitioning to digital fobs only and it would have happened sooner or later anyway. Due to work and due to my newborn I wasn’t able to attend the gym during office hours so they kept charging me for like 4 weeks without me being able to enter the gym and using the service I was charged for at all. Finally I managed to go there during office hours in the morning and inquired about my physical fob issue. All they said was that I have to use a digital fob from now on or I can’t use the gym anymore. After explaining them that I’m not able to download their app to use the digital fob due to location setting in my App Store which can’t be changed or otherwise I lose access to important banking apps etc. from another country, they still stuck to their arguments and refused to help me. I felt uncomfortable by the lack of their professionalism and left the gym. I then went to another branch and asked for support. They called the Kingsford staff and explained them that there are many overseas students etc. having to use a physical fob due to exactly the described issue. Also there are countries like Singapore where they haven’t upgraded to the digital system at all yet and you can only enter with a physical fob there. However, the Kingsford staff still stuck to their arguments and refused to reactive my physical fob. Long story short, the other branch‘s staff figured out that my membership just ran out and I automatically switched to a monthly cancellable contract. So basically the only way for me to obtain a new working physical fob and to continue training at Anytime was to cancel my monthly cancellable contract sign up for a new 18 months membership, which I did at the other branch eventually. In conclusion, Kingsford‘s staff pathetically fails solving customer related issues in a professional manner and they even use shady, probably even illegal, techniques to extend/renew customer‘s memberships. Stay away from these people.

As per our conversation in club we mentioned how when you chose to switch to digital it automatically disables your physical fob and no longer usable. Doing this puts your digital key on your phone which gives you access worldwide and reduces risk of losing it. The digital key streamlines all members access to every club and makes access even easier and is why we are phasing out fobs. When you mentioned to staff you have important apps from another country we gave you our app support teams number and also instructed you to lodge a ticket through the app to see if they can assist you. Furthermore we offered to set you up on a trial key so you would still have access to the club whilst you worked through the issue to then switch over to the Australian app store. Positive experience: Would give 5 stars if general gym etiquette (wiping benches/using towels) was pushed more by staff and the weights were in the right places. Could possibly be something staff can do while there’s three of them sitting at the desk. Just a thought - they’re always very friendly and helpful though.

Negative experience: Worst staff members. Been a customer without missing a payment for many years. Recently, I missed a payment due to my debit card expiry. A staff calls me for payment and I took the opportunity to asked to cancel my membership. Then, they send me an email suggesting that I can't cancel it unless I make the last payment. Then Jamie from the gym suggests that they won't cancel my membership and threatened that the monthly fees will piles up which will result in bad credit rating. Don't join this place. Go to other Anytime Fitness and you will get a much better service.

Negative experience: What an absolute joke of a gym. Lazy staff who can't organise weights to save themselves and absolutely zero care for a gym culture where people don't even know how to put their weights away. Worst of all is the manager Jaime. What an arrogant human being. I've been with Anytime for many years, was a foundation member and changed several clubs. Have decided to cancel with Anytime since joining Kingsford. Much better value going to MyGym in Eastgardens. Save your time and money folks. Kingsford AF is a joke.

Negative experience: Poor customer service and facilities, not worth what they charge, very low hygiene standards at this gym. This branch is small, crowded and cramped with a lot of broken machinery and equipment as well as the lack of cleanliness. There are much better gyms around to invest your money into. Response to manager: I initially requested regain access after I have already paid the fee for freezing the membership, It seems that you wanted to charge me for the full month of April as I pay monthly to reinstate my access. you refuted my request to compromise or even potentially negotiate the charges for the month of April as I had frozen my membership, due to undergoing surgery and since being cleared to train. You Jamie the manager spoke to me in a very passive aggressive and avaricious manner, this solidified my decision to find another gym to train at. $25 per week is far too expensive for the small gym floor and unhygienic bathrooms, I have also previously participated in multiple surveys as requested from anytime reviewing customer experience and the cleanliness or lack thereof in the gym.

Negative experience: The employee of this Anytime Fitness is absolutely rude and cheat customer in a lie way. Try to cancel it because of relocate by sending email. Someone called up and said can freeze it for 3 months and after that will automatically cancel. After 3 months it keeps still received message for the overdue like every few days. Then we called up for the issue and replied with need to pay the overdue and late fees and 30 days notice which ridiculous. This anytime fitness just want to charge whatever they can and cheat customer with what they said. Not recommend at all for this place. Terrible customer service.

As mentioned when you got started with us after an agreement term your membership continues until you give us notice you would like to cancel in writing which then starts a 30 day notice period. When you contacted us about your travel we offered you the choice to freeze your membership so when you finished your travel you would be able to continue training. You accepted that so we processed that freeze for you. As mentioned to you once that freeze was done we could re assess your situation and make a decision then on how we would proceed. As your payments failed to go through once you came off freeze you were contacted for the late payments. Once those payments are cleared then we can start the 30 day notice period. When signing up we explain all the terms regarding cancellations, freezing and our third party billing company, you also have the 7 day cooling off period when you get started to review the agreement in your own time to then contact us if you have any questions. As you were inside of 15km from the Anytime Fitness in Canberra to cancel it was 50% of the remaining balance. Fantastic experience: amazing gym with amazing staff
Negative experience: Whilst the number of squat racks is amazing with a nice variety of machines, there are issues that the gym refuses to fix that creates a less than stellar experience. It is a shame because this gym has great potential. 1. Why is the bubbler still leaking water? It's been about 6 months and this is a very easily fixable issue. 2. Please add more 1.25kg plates. There is only one pair so patrons have to fight for them. 3. Why are there random blasts of hot air? Is this an air-conditioning malfunction? This usually happens near the bubbler so perhaps this is a bubbler issue. Which still hasn't been fixed after months of neglect by staff. 4. There are not enough clips for each squat rack. I have seen another member mention this and I agree. Why am I going on a Dora the explorer hunt for clips when they should just be on the squat rack? 5. The PTs scare me a bit by accosting me at the entrance. I just want to work out. Please. 6. Why do your staff have to crowd around a tiny table to do their work? Surely you can afford them better spaces to work in, in light of the high membership fees. It looks uncomfortable. Please fix these issues! They don't seem very difficult to fix, are low-cost and would create a much better and safer experience for members. I don't see why you wouldn't fix these issues after numerous complaints e.g. bubbler.

In regards to the bubbler we are getting a new one installed upstairs and replacing the one downstairs as we have had multiple issues with it but it is functioning as per normal. We are looking into ordering more plates as this has only recently been brought to our attention via a previous review. We will have a look into the hot air as we have not heard or noticed this previously and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our PT's are looking to help every member so they greet at the entrance so that they can have a chat as you walk in and offer a free strength and fitness session to our members to better assist you on your health and fitness journey. If you're not looking for the assistance just let them know as you walk in. The entrance table where we work is great to be able to assist members as soon as they walk in and to greet and say bye. We much prefer having this space than an office as it makes us feel closer to the members and doesn't have any separation between us. Negative experience: On first impressions the gym is beautiful and spacious with a large variety of machines to use. However, once I started to visit the gym I get the impression that the gym does not really care about the experience of their members. Keep in mind I'm comparing my experience to the ones I've had at AF Newtown, Ashfield and Burwood. -Upon entering the gym you are often bothered by their PTs who wait around the entrance trying to solicit clients. - When using the squat rack you then realise that there are not enough clips for all the barbells. This means some members end up lifting with out clips. This is incredibly dangerous for both the lifter and anyone near them as the plates are prone to sliding off the barbells. Your alternative is to wait around for a pair of clips to free up. - In the 4 months I have been visiting the gym the water bubbler has been malfunctioning and constantly dribbling water. - The dumbbells are never arranged in order of increasing weight. While this is also a member issue. All the other gyms I have attended have the staff rearrange the equipment periodically as part of their duties. - The gym only seems to have 1 pair of 1.25kg plates. Once again this lack of care on the managements part, creates situations where members have to wait around before they can get their workout done. By simply investing a couple hundred into more clips and fractional plates members could have a far better experience, but the management would rather have their PTs stand around shilling to customers. -Finally, my gf ended up having her membership fees increased once Kingsford become her default gym. This was done without any warning and she had agreed to different terms at another anytime fitness. A move that feels very money motivated and underhanded.

In regards to the bubbler we have another bubbler being installed upstairs as well as replacing the one downstairs as we are aware there have been issues. The PT's engage with members upon entry to offer a free strength and fitness assessment or a free boxing session as they are looking to help as many members as possible reach their health and fitness goals. The team rearrange the dumbbells daily but as it is one of our highest volume areas they do end up out of order and we will look into more ways to reduce this. We can definitely look into getting some more 1.25kg plates and will update you on our results. We have 2 clips per squat rack including the ones upstairs if you've been unable to find them we can always help look as another member may have misplaced them. In regards to your partners increase in fees, the membership agreement states that when transferring from club to club the fees may vary and be increased. Negative experience: The employees of this Anytime Fitness mislead, lie and are rude to customers when it comes to memberships. I was transferred to the Kingsford Anytime Fitness Gym and got an email saying my rate will increase from $17.95/ week to $23.95/week. I called up the gym and asked if I could get the student rate, as I am a university student. The staff member who answered the phone said I could get the student rate of $19.95 as long as I call the gym a couple days before the new rate is activated, but not after. I called anytime fitness kingsford a couple days before the rate got activated and told the manager how one of his staff said I could get the student rate if I call a couple days before the new rate was activated. The manager went on to say that he trusts his staff, his staff are well trained and would never say that and that the most trained senior staff answer the phones. Then he went on repeatedly insinuating and implying that I was lying, his staff don’t make mistakes, and they never told me I could get a student discount over the phone. They lie, mislead, then can’t admit and fix their mistake, insinuating the customer is a liar. Terrible customer service, they don’t care about the customers. Do not recommend

In regards to your rate increase, as per the membership agreement you had originally signed with Randwick when transferring to another club your rate can change and reflect the new clubs fee's. As we are the most premium club in the Eastern Suburbs and are one of the largest Anytime Fitness clubs in Australia our weekly membership fees are slightly higher as our functional cost are higher. As you are still within your membership agreement term we can not reduce your rate as our team explained. Once your agreement is done we would love to resign you to our student agreement. Fantastic experience: Started my contract at North Strathfield with an operator by the name Omar, paid the opening fee and the first week fee. I was untold about most things, as an international student it was pretty tough to keep up with the bill per week. Shorty after moved to Kingsford and joined there using my access card, however was not advised that the fee would increase. Had to cancel my contract after 2 years, spoke to the operator by the name of Emily, she was nice and very professional. Spoke to her in order to cancel my contract. Got things done quick and smoothly. However there’s a procedure where you send the email to the located gym and it takes about 30 days to cancel. I don’t usually complain but it surely does hurt the wallet as an international student. Strongly advise to be well informed about how the structure of the entire fees are. Regardless, very nice gym with modern machines.

Fantastic experience: It was a pleasure to train at AF Kingsford during my time as an exchange student at UNSW. It's a clean, well-maintained gym that has everything you need and that really wasn't that busy when I went in the early mornings. If you are torn between this gym and the UNSW gym, choose AF, you won't regret it!
Fantastic experience: Anytime Fitness Kingsford is the best and most welcoming gym I’ve ever been to. The gym itself is perfectly set up, with a wide variety of equipment and machines, whilst also having a mat section for stretching and bodyweight exercises. All of the staff members are professional and polite, always saying hello and goodbye on my entry and exit from the gym, especially the Manager Jamie who is always available to speak with at the front desk when approached. The Personal Trainer Coaches are friendly and extremely knowledgeable in the training routines they provide, especially Steven who is very patient and understanding with beginners. I highly recommend joining the Anytime Fitness Kingsford gym, it has an excellent culture and atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: This has been my favourite gym! There is a great range of equipment with a logical lay out. The gym is also kept clean making it a very pleasant environment for a good work out at any time of the day. Jamie, the manager, has been exceptional at always making it a welcoming environment and making me aware of promotions in the gym. I have also had a great experience with personal training here!
Negative experience: There is nothing wrong with this gym I just want less people to crowd it.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. It's close to home & has regular people just working out. I find the bits I use to be quite clean, can't comment on anything I haven't used. Equipment is new & very good. Love the lat pulldown, seated row & cable machines.
Negative experience: I don’t understand why the toilets are shared between men and women. This may sound backwards but I’m sick of having to clean every time I go in? Why do I have to clean others Splashes ?? There is urine everywhere in the toilets. This is dangerous and could spread infections and contamination. We mentioned this like million times but no one is giving a single damn. Air con barely works there. It feels like suffocating. No ventilation whatsoever. They are literally driving their customers out.

Unfortunately as we are a 24 hour facility and have over 2000 members our bathrooms can not be maintained the entire time members are here. We do routine cleans every hour and have deep cleans 4 times a week of the entire club. I'm sorry you have had the inconvenience of having to clean the bathrooms on your own time. If the bathrooms are a mess when you're in them let us know the time and day and we can have a chat with those that are leaving it in that state. in regards to our Air Con it is always running on a 2 hour cycle to keep the club at a comfortable 21 degrees. Negative experience: Showers are size of old UK phone booth. no mirror for shaving, but you have to go to the toilet booth and use the sink that people use to wash there hands after a number 2 to shave, with mirror, Showers not big enough to change and sit comfortably, and put your socks on or shoes without getting your socks wet due to small space. but you can walk to the next booth half naked and change in the changing booth they provided, in the unisex change room, with no mirror, no low bench to sit on, but give you a bar stool. what a joke of a gym.

Fantastic experience: Very compact but extensive gym, three types of every machine, VERY clean and tidy, nice atmosphere. Not much free weights or room for stretching and yoga
Negative experience: It’s an okay and spacious gym, I’m using the equipment and looks great aesthetically but importantly you want a gym that is functional and takes on feedback if things aren’t safe. However, I’ve noticed when you flag with staff machines don’t work or certain things on the roof aren’t exactly safe, they do respond but no actual action. Furthermore, you don’t exactly see them taking on the feedback seriously which is concerning when I mentioned it to them, they acknowledged it but that piece of loose wood on the ceiling on the second level is still a safety hazard to other members who walk underneath it to run on a treadmill on the left hand side, it will drop one day, it doesn’t look fixed. This piece of wood can easily hit someone on the head. We are paying money for good service and maintenance definitely should be prioritised no matter what. I also flagged one of the bicycles wasn’t working, I didn’t receive a response back, if you want people to enjoy the gym you need to fix broken equipment. The toilet facilities on level 2, don’t seem to be regularly cleaned, which is gross and concerning. I genuinely hope they take this feedback seriously on board, please do better.

In regards to equipment that may not be working and club maintenance we do have to reach out to an external company to come in to repair/fix the issues. With equipment it may need a part that we need to order in which can take time. In regards to the wood on the ceiling it has been deemed safe. In regards to the cleanliness of our second level we have a deep clean 4 times a week by our external cleaners and we do walkthroughs as many times a day as we can but as our club is one of the busiest in Australia it is difficult to ensure total cleanliness at all times. We are looking to hire full time cleaning staff to ensure a better experience. Negative experience: called to enquire about memberships. the gentleman told me he cant tell me anything and the only way was for me to come in person. BIG ASK just for a simple enquiry. clearly acquiring new clients is NOT their top priority. plenty of gyms in Sydney that are more welcoming and possibly much easier to communicate and deal with. lost a customer. EDIT: they did not invite me because they have 10 different options and show me around. they plain refused to give out any information or even bother explaining anything, they straight out refused to talk unless i go to the club. please dont make it sound so friendly and pleasant!

Fantastic experience: This has to be my favourite AF in Sydney. The gym is designed across multiple levels, which creates a feeling of spaciousness and ease when progressing through workouts. You don't feel like you're on top of other members, and that's great. On the ground level, you'll find free weights, large cable machines, plate-loaded machines, and 5 x squat/deadlift racks. On the top level, you can use treadmills, assault bikes, row machines, pin-loaded machines, stair climbers, as well as warm/stretching areas. The gym's location is perfect for UNSW students and locals, with its proximity to the university and the Light Rail within walking distance. Plus, you can park your car for a maximum of two hours through Houston Ln. All in all, I highly recommend Anytime Fitness Kingsford as the ultimate fitness spot!

The young Asian lady on duty was extremely helpful and passionate about the undertaking of the job. She placed me at ease despite my trepidation on embarking on my first gym session. Truly a five star experience at a five star gym. I can’t wait to pursue my fitness goals here.

Fantastic experience: AF Kingsford is exceptionally clean, modern, brand new like. There is some recommendations equipment wise I would recommend. For example the, hammer strength ground base/squat lunge, more accessories for the pulleys, hammer strength pullover hammer strength pin loaded biceps curl machine and a hammer strength plate loaded pullover. The gyms getting busier by the day, so having this sort of equipment within the place would be top notch! Thanks

Positive experience: AF Kingsford is exceptionally clean, modern, brand new like. The staff and PT’s are exceptionally knowledgeable. But if I could give some feedback, I think it’d be optimal to see the same machines the Anytime Fitness Kensington has within Kingsford. Id recommend the hammer strength pullover, hammer strength ground base/squat lunge, more accessories for the pulleys. Another bubbler upstairs, hammer strength pin loaded biceps curl machine and a hammer strength plate loaded pullover. It’d be ideal to blow World Gym Moore Park out the water, that is upon us!

Positive experience: Spacious gym and has good machines. The place isn't clean though. Amenities gross and the club is quite dirty. Looks like they've hired a bunch of apprentices to renovate the place
Fantastic experience: Great spacious gym, clean, modern, and has a variety of equipment. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. However, I think it’d be great to see the same machines AF Kensington has within Kingsford. Such as the hammer strength pin loaded biceps curl machine, iso lateral shoulder press, ground base squat lunge, and a plate loaded pullover. Fantastic experience: Such a great gym, certainly one of the best Anytime's. The staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful, and approachable. The gym possess a great atmopshere, but it is starting to get very busy, and it would be even greater and benenfical for all members if there was more equipment within the premises. I am quite baffled to see an Anytime Fitness without a Hammer Strength pin loaded biceps curl machine. I was always under the impression that, that machine was a definitive within the Anytime franchise. Some of the machines that are within the Anytime Kensington would be great to be in the Anytime Kingsford super club too. Ideally: 1. Hammer strength Iso-lateral shoulder press machine 2. Hammer strength ground base squat/lunge 3. Hammer strength plate loaded abdominal crunch 4. Hammer strength plate loaded pullover 5. Additional accessories for the pulley machines 6. Another bubbler, to save the travel downstairs lol.

Unfortunately you must of reviewed the wrong gym as we don't have classes nor do our personal trainers miss sessions if they are owed. If you are looking for gym that does have amazing trainers and an amazing community please reach out and we can help you get started :)
Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms I've ever been a member of. Not the best wash facilities but more than makes up for it with free weights and rack availability and attentive staff.
