Negative experience: They efficiently set up your recurring membership fee deductions...but just try to cancel your membership...I have found it nearly impossible...numerous phone calls and promises and still 29.95 a week deducted...never even attended the gym as my work moved out of the city just after I signed on...so over anytime gym

Negative experience: The staff here are not friendly and don't even acknowledge members, do not expect a hello or a smile especially from the male staff. This gym also cost more per month to have a membership than other AF's in the Newcastle area. It's the only only gym with towels so maybe that's why but not everyone showers. Mayfield is a much nicer gym and has way friendlier staff that always say hello

Negative experience: Never apply for a smart key to use your mobile phone to enter and exit. I don’t understand why a gym needs to update iOS to the latest version on the mobile phone before people can use it.

Positive experience: Old gym was so much better! There's no functional bar area anymore.. all the squat rack's pull up bars are so low my legs are still on the ground. The dip station / assisted pull up machine is in a dark corner. There's no stretching room anymore

Positive experience: Medium-sized chain gym with a reasonable range of equipment. Reminds me of Pure Gym in the UK and is a solid option for a fitness gym. 20$aud day pass available on the door during manned hours. NB looks like they are moving location shortly.

Fantastic experience: Anytime Newy West is such an amazing gym! The staff, particularly Jordy, are so kind and helpful. I’d call this place my second home and always feel so welcome every time I’m in there. With incredible facilities and in such a great location, I feel lucky to be a member here.

Fantastic experience: I joined in April and very glad I did. Friendly staff and convenient location with parking outside on the street and free member parking on level one. Lots of space with a full range of weights and cardio equipment. Very hygienic and bathrooms are kept clean and tidy most of the time. Unfortunately no classes are run at this gym, but there is a separate room located for this purpose. The gym will be moving very soon to a brand new location in Hunter Street.

Positive experience: Just popped in for a work out while on tour with work and friendly atmosphere and the guy at the desk (I think his name was Oliver, sorry if I'm wrong) was great!

Negative experience: Unhygienic.. roaches everywhere.

Positive experience: This gym has the usual range of AF equipment. I found it a little sterile but that could have been just the day and time I went. Plenty of parking in the parking station behind. A distinct lack of clear signage if you park on various levels as to how to access the gym main entrance for a newcomer.

Fantastic experience: Very clean and spacious gym, well maintained equipment, friendly and helpful staff members. Free parking for the first 90 minutes. Always a fantastic experience when I come in to workout.

Negative experience: It's nice. A bad thing is the commercial cleaners come still during peak hours 9pm - 10pm. Meaning they don't get to vaccum everywhere because many people are using machines. Also vacuum cleaner noise is distributive.

Negative experience: During my time at the gym it was incredibly unclean and not up to standard during the pandemic. When I wanted out of my contract due to the lack of cleanliness, they continued to charge me until the end. When my partner joined he was also offered one complimentary PT sessions which he never received.

Fantastic experience: The place always is clean, they have heaps of gym equipment and space. Also they lots of amenities. I can always get a squat rack. The staff are nice and friendly.

Negative experience: Absolutey shocking management and communication. They book me in for a free trial session, upon request and then proceed to charge me for a visit.

Positive experience: Good gym overall. Some of the equipment could use a refresh but that is a small detail. Best anytime fitness gym in the hunter but.

Negative experience: Gym instructors and admin are very rude and don't listen also tell you things they don't do. Also if U try cancell a membership be careful 2 more payment have been take out after they have said they have cancelled my membership shitll gym.

Negative experience: The absolute worst customer service. I cancelled my membership within the 7-day cooling off period after signing up. However the monthly fee was still taken from my account a week later. I have spoke to numerous employees of AF Newcastle west who keep fobbing me off. They tell me they will call me back to process my refund but never do. AF customer service has contacted them telling them to cancel and refund my fees but still not resolved. Something that should be so simple has turned into a really stressful situation for me.

Fantastic experience: Worst service I have ever experienced at any business. Joining a membership at any of the accessible gyms is an absolute scam, as once your in they will hit you with every excuse under the sun as to why they cannot cancel the membership.
