Negative experience: Don’t get a membership here. I have a medical condition preventing me from using the equipment, I got a medical certificate confirming that which I supplied as evidence to support cancelling the membership, and now they have an issue with cancelling the membership and won’t let me leave instead offering a “suspension”. This makes it so obvious to me that Armadale doesn’t care about members. On top of this, the gym has limited opening hours and is not 24/7 like all the other goodlife gyms in the area. They also consistently fail to properly maintain the facilities. Would recommend going literally anywhere else even if this is the closest one to your home.

Negative experience: After being a member for 22 years and putting up with zero customer service for the last 7 years (since Goodlife took over the gym) including, Spa and Sauna always under repair Swimming pool with Mould, equipment faulty, showers faulty, swimming pool taken over by schools for 2 weeks at a time and not being able to use it, rude PT instructors who don't share equipment, the final straw for me to cancel my membership was not being able to put my membership on hold for 6 weeks because they have a new outsourced payment system that doesn't enable this function.. Goodlife you really have turned an excellent gym (when it was owned by recreation) into a Seth pit of an operation. And to cap it off when I told the customer service staff, I was cancelling my membership after 22 years due to not being able to put membership on hold the customer service staff showed absolutely no care or no intention to try and appease me...Do better Goodlife

Negative experience: Management should be ashamed. Spa hasn't worked for 6 weeks, steam room 1 week in the last 6. Brand damage must be amazing. Accountants running head office obviously don't care, sending this borderline gym into a spiral. The standard answer is waiting on a part. It's ridiculous to keep repeating this. It's not like this is complicated, it's a spa & steam room! Given the change room ceiling has fallen in, the general mould in the bathrooms, the cutting back of classes & a total disregard to maintenance & member satisfaction, clearly this gym won't be open for much longer. This is a perfect example of how not to run a business. Shame on you management for being so derelict.

In the meantime, we can provide some great updates: the steam room, while it did have to close briefly for approx three weeks due to health and safety reasons, it is now open and working well. In regard to the spa: it was open the whole time but unfortunately the spa jets weren't working so we did have to wait for parts to fix it which were delayed, however this is also now fixed and working well. Positive experience: Summary: there are pros and cons with this gym. If it weren't for the quality Les Mills instructors, I would rate it a 2/5. ✅ Small indoor pool ✅ Showers are better than Camberwell's but could use benches in the shower. ✅ Quality Les Mills instructors- Agnes, Ellen, Tatiana, Kevin who also teach at other branches. ✅ Generously sized main studio with full mirrors. ❌ Poor customer service. No greetings whenever we tag in. ❌ Female showerheads need replacing/ maintenance/ cleaning. ❌ Parking and traffic is terrible at peak hours. ❌ Pool showers are OLD!!! Only men toilets have direct access to the pool. ❓Popular with elderly due to the area. However, there are various flight of stairs to get to the class area, toilets, cardio & weights area. Thankfully there are railings but some elderly members look like they are struggling. Is it a hazard? ❓ Tend to find groups of boys/men loitering around the pool. Might be uncomfortable for some.

Negative experience: Old gym, poor service. The caucasian girls with thick lip fillers and Botox working at the front desk on Tuesday 11 June 2024 515pm -530pm (or rather barely working- happily chatting amongst themselves) are extremely rude and not suitable for a customer facing role.

Negative experience: After reading some of the reviews here I see that I’m not the only one who’s been treated shabby to cancel his account. I’ve been a member since 6 years ago keeping in mind they’ve took $5 per week during lockdown from my bank account when their gym was shut ( back then I didn’t mind supporting the health group) but now I have had it after they’re fussy about cancelling my account even though I’ve paid them fully they blame it on Terms and Conditions which is contrary to their own action. At the end they threaten you with debt collector and if their demands didn’t make sense they welcome you to Consumer Affairs! How ugly perfect!!!( James and Sarah handled this) even though I’m thankful for some of the hard working staff there, I don’t recommend this place. Also after 50 days of my request they sent an email that we waive half of your fake debt and you just pay $37.04 to not deal with us anyome I just payed that and yet AGAIN they email me asking for more money they say we wanted to pull you in that's all about it, no shame- I have their email and the payment in screenshot.

Fantastic experience: Been using this gym for around 7 months now, love the facilities, staff and atmosphere.. older gym than other goodlifes but personally enjoy Armadale the most.. sauna is one of the best ive been to in both aus + uk!.. people are really friendly and easy to get along with! Lots of different areas to train with a variety of good quality equipment for various training methods.. some unique machines/equipment I haven't seen anywhere else.. keep up the good work guys and girls

Negative experience: Filthy sauna/ Pool area. Tried to cancel twice but are still debiting my account and it’s impossible to speak to anyone from management regarding this.

Negative experience: I had high hopes for this gym, but it was a complete disappointment. The facility was disgustingly dirty, with equipment covered in sweat and grime. Not to mention, despite their advertising, they refused to offer me a free trial to test out their services. Save your money and your health - steer clear of this grimy, unprofessional establishment.

Negative experience: Be cautious entering the sauna. Had a man who had explained he was on performance enhancers who was having some sort of episode raging about his hatred of trans people. I asked him to please stop to which he escalated to yelling. I sat in silence as he continued to yell at me for maybe 5 minutes for this. I removed myself and asked management for assistance as I didn’t feel safe. Managements way of resolving this was to tell me “sorry but we can’t control what people say” and filled out a formal complaint, which was just procedural with no outcome. Please be careful when attending this gym.
Positive experience: 5 months ago I gave this place 5 stars. Its now down to three. Reason I had left personal items which went missing and Bree the manager, would not look at Video until I lodged a police report. I dont know why they cannot look at their own video to see the cleaner allegedly 'throwing out' my $90 jacket. Such a waste of police time - is my word not good enough?? Entrance still dirty and in need of a good mop/wash facelift. Sorry Armadale but I'm losing love.

Positive experience: classes are good, locker are clean still hunting a pt that not clash with my Timetable...after holiday receptionist last Sat so friendly Amy
Negative experience: Just kind of mid and ick - the spa water is tepid and doesn’t have a decent chlorine smell but I’m assured it does get checked. The steam room was not hot and wasn’t clean and the sauna was tiny and someone spat in it. Great caring staff, working in a place that desperately needs an update

Negative experience: Complete misrepresentation of membership terms. Joined this gym under the assumption that it was an ongoing one as assured to me by the sales team (I mentioned I wanted something flexible due to my visa), however upon trying to cancel my membership its become clear that I'm now tied into an 18-month contract - with a $250 cancellation fee. Beware.
Negative experience: I'm giving it 1 star because the facilities are in really bad condition. The owners should invest in their business as everything looks a bit dirty and tatty to be honest. I will continue to go because they are one of the few gyms that do Les Mills near me.

Negative experience: I'm a regular but very disappointed that the spa has been closed for over 4-5 weeks and not fixed as they don't want to spend money on chemicals. Myself and many others use the spa every time we go and to not fix it is just ridiculous. Very slow to fix necessary things at this gym. * edit: now over 2 months later and still no spa, very sadly run*
Fantastic experience: Since Mitch Talbot has taken over as club manager, the gym has improved Paper towels, sprays replenished.. previous mgr didn't care And there's a buzz of energy back Good bc Armadale used to be a great gym
Positive experience: Great gym! Only thing I'll say is I just wish the personal trainers would clean up their equipment when they're finished rather than leaving a mess wherever they're training a client. Also hand soap is never filled in the toilets. Other than that great friendly staff!

Negative experience: I have enjoyed membership since March 2011 when GL purchased Recreation Armadale, previous owner, Joanne Rusell. I was. Blue Chip member and on transfer assured I wld be assured same privileges. But now not true, I was assured suspension as often as required at no cost, copious emails to confirm. In a recent request, no response from club, requested contract from March 2011, no response, bullied and intimated by a CS rep in Carseldine, Brisbane when asked to follow up with Vic club. This org is a monopoly and believes exempt from basic law due to volume, but I intend to prove recent transactions with clubs are less than ethical.I have no club profile due to SDV.

Negative experience: Have been a long term member - 10 years+ and over that period there has been zero advancement in the condition of this gym. Absolutely nothing has been invested to improve the member experience e.g an aircon system, modern equipment, a refurb and facilities cleanliness. The only thing that’s changed is the enforced reduction of opening hours, where members feedback and petitions were blindly ignored. It’s now impossible for me to use this gym Friday- Sunday going forward as it’s closes at 5pm on the weekends & 8pm on a Friday. Furthermore the rates have been increased without any opportunity to consult with members. Fundamentally new members pay less than loyalty and long term members gets punished. Finally, I have made numerous efforts to speak with management- as have other long term members, however Management refuse or are unwilling to respond to requests and indeed have the courtesy to call you.

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a reasonably priced gym close to my office with good selection of free weights and pin loaded machines. I'm not interested in a pool, spa, sauna, PT's or group classes. I've found Goodlife Armadale meets my needs. A good selection of equipment, the gym is clean and the fees reasonable. I've renewed my membership and was given a good price, with no hard sell. Have no hesitation recommending.

Positive experience: Love the Active Adult classes (combination of cardio and strength) which are held three times a week at Armadale.
Fantastic experience: Good range of equipment and the facilities are clean and kept in good condition. Very handy to have a pool/suana associated with the gym for a complete workout and the ability to just relax as well.
Fantastic experience: A warm and friendly place. Received much support and encouragement in rehabilitation after a surgery disaster. I go to the gym to exercise (as an effective medical treatment) and progress has been impressive and comforting to me over a 3-year lengthy period. Goodlife is practically a home away from home for me.
Positive experience: Have been a regular member for over 30 years. Have joined classes but now doing my own routine as befitting a geriatric! Current staff ex friendly , helpful & always obliging. Facilities adequate & pool & spa v welcoming. Recommended ++++
Positive experience: Needs a facelift and some serious maintenance!
Negative experience: Terrible. I had a medical issue that required surgery. I went in and said, I would need to cancel my membership unless they were able to pause my account for at least 3 months. I offered them my medical documents. The declined and said it would be fine. The next week the payments still got taken out and for another 3 weeks too. I canceled my card to stop them taking the money out. My contract ended years ago, so I was fully within my rights to leave. I notified them 2 more times and over emails with the issue. They are now demanding my card details, and to pay $130 and then they will give me 4 weeks free. ? That doesn't even make sense. They are trying to charge me more than 4 weeks, plus the weeks they kept taking payments. They are threatening with debt collectors now. I was willing to leave! but they offered the pause on my account. I'm so disappointed in this company, don't trust anything they say. DON'T join, particular the Armadale club. (The staff at camberwell are a lot nicer)

Positive experience: Great gym, great management team who now listen to members concerns. Love the layout of the facility as areas are sectioned off. All I can say is that if you are looking for that "resort-like luxury experience" then this is not the gym for you as it has seen better days in terms of wear & tear. But if you want a gym that has all the facilities in one spot and a caring, responsive team then it might be the place for you.
Negative experience: Terrible experience, DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I signed for a month to month membership, and canceled before the end of the first minimum term. Then they told me that due to the cancellation policy I had to give 30 days notice and should pay 4 weeks extra. I pointed that their own contract said this condition apply when you cancel after the minimum term but they still charged me.

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs! They wont cancel my membership and keep charging. Not responding to emails and person on the phone sys it is a matter for their superior and only way to get a refund is to email them. They are literally stealing money. Now need to take it up with the bank and Consumer Affairs Victoria. I would give a negative rating if I could.

Positive experience: The atmosphere is a bit cramped and clammy, but it has all the needed equipment, including machines and lifting bars. The pool, again, does the job, although being smaller than a 25m length pool how much you can do is necessarily limited. Reasonable spa and sauna. Friendly-mannered staff.

Negative experience: Terrible. Have asked them to cancel my membership for 6 months after the minimum term contract and they still haven't actioned. Absolutely can not use lockdown as an excuse as I my minimum term contract was up and my notice was given twice before this. No confirmation or action from their end. Would avoid at all costs.

Negative experience: Beware all I joined for 12 months only. Due to covid, membership postponed and they unilaterally extended it by months when I didn’t need it anymore . I had a baby and couldn’t go to gym. They harassed me and sent me to aggressive debt collectors for a membership I can’t use
Negative experience: DO NOT join this gym. the pool is always closed. their customer service is terrible. and you have a minimum year contract which you cannot get out of without paying a crazy amount of money. do not get fooled by the cheap rates - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Fantastic experience: Carnegie GoodLife has top-end instructors, new Jim Bradley boxing room catering combat gurus, state of the art equipment, quiet yoga room to relax and innovative dance lights for Les Mills body jammers with friendly staff located on an arty shopping strip it's certainly "in to gym"
Negative experience: Horrible customer service after being a member for a year I called to end my membership. The lady on the phone was unprofessional and rude, after canceling she actually hung up on me. Never again Good Life!.
Negative experience: I was a member of this gym for years before travelling overseas. Just rang up to enquire about joining again and the lady that picked up was extremely unprofessional. She couldn't answer basic questions, had a horrible phone manner, and then in the middle of asking a question she abruptly put me on hold and never came back, I waited for 5 minutes then hung up. A disservice to your business, I will be looking at joining elsewhere now.

Positive experience: Good and ample gym equipment, all in great condition, including a few squat racks. They also have a pool, spa and sauna which are good for a post-workout relax. Generally a pretty good crowd. The only negative to this gym is it gets HOT. In summer it really needs extra/updated aircon. Will Arias’ QTX personal training facility in here is a win though (and air-conditioned haha) – he has his own personal studio/mini gym inside Goodlife for PT sessions which is fantastic and his training is second to none! I’ve been training with him for 5 years and will continue to as I’ve seen such great results. Thanks Will and Goodlife!
Negative experience: Had an unpleasant experience at the gym. Had my car stolen and goodlife staff wouldn’t assist with the police to help them despite the police explaining they were interfering with an investigation. Many better gyms around with newer equipment and better vibes Really enjoying 24/7 fitness.
Negative experience: This gym has very horrible unfriendly staff, reading all these reviews, they must know it. I signed up and they told me I HAD to have a PT session once a quarter and I would be billed for it. Clearly pressure to reach sales. The first PT session I had, the trainer was over weight and smelled like cigarettes. I then complained and told them I dont want to pay for it, however they kept billing me for it each quarter and I 'couldn't get out of it'. The last straw was when they put their prices up and I just received an email about it, no signs, no conversations at the front desk, no phone call.
Negative experience: I'd shop around b4 you commit, there contracts are inflexible
Fantastic experience: Called up without notice for a tour of facilities on a Saturday afternoon, and Aiden was more than happy to oblige. Came in and checked out the centre, received great service, and pleased to say the facilities very good.
Fantastic experience: This is by far one of the best gyms I've been a member of. Yes, it's true that the building and facilities are not brand new, but they are maintained well and often - last time I checked their 45kg dumbells still weighed 45kg... Overall I've had nothing but positive experiences with both the staff and patrons at this location.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Its an old building but the layout is quite good. Good weights and cardio equipment. The highlight is the spa and pool. Great to release tensed muscles after a good workout.

Negative experience: The worst gym ive ever been! Customer service is horrendous. I literally paid $199 joining fee and trained for 3 weeks and cancelled. They asked a 30 days notice for cancelation and said I wasnt going to be charged as I only used the gym for 3 weeks. Well, they did charged me and when i called they pretended it never happened! DO not sign up for this gym. save yourself time and money!
Negative experience: Visited this gym yesterday with a friends guest pass and had to repeatedly tell person showing me around that I didn’t want to sign up and sat there uncomfortably while he kept trying to pressure me before I had even used the gym! By the 4th time I said no I had already decided there was no way I’d sign up no matter if I liked the gym or not. Waaaay too aggressive.

Negative experience: Super old gym, terrible amenities, rude staff and to top it off they will literally rob you by double or overcharging you at their own discretion. They will not reapond to any queries about this. Avoid at all costs.

Negative experience: Steeling your money guys
Negative experience: Went here on a 5 day trial and was hassled to join the club the entire time even after expressing that I just wanted to see what it was like. And they tried to make me pay for my session on the 5th day of a free trial?
Negative experience: Steer clear. Staff can't follow basic instructions. Will debit full joining fee when you sign up on instalments then take weeks to refund. They will then use 2 weeks of your free hold period to cover the cost without telling you. $195 to cancel membership (which you will want to do). Shocking facilities, unhelpful condescending staff. Save your money.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, sauna & spa
Negative experience: Went in for a 5 day free trial, but was greeted by one of the rudest staff I have ever met. She denied my free trial because apparently I have used other gyms before, even though I told her I was trialling new gyms to hopefully sign up. Got the strong impression she did not want me in her gym because I wasnt dressed up in fancy gym gear. Luckily for me I have lots of friends to tell them not to go here and for them to tell their friends also. Feel sorry for the people working under her.
Fantastic experience: Omg!!!! If anyone’s looking for a complete leisure centre that’s literally got everything there...Goodlife Armadale is most definitely the way to go. The staff are just phenomenal. Thanking the Big Boss: Cathy Donati for her incredible service, who’s built quite an empire to fulfil the needs of each and every member. You won’t find another Management and their Co-Workers who are Absolute Superstars such as: Felix, Fiona, Lucas, Buick, Tara, Bella, Loz and Michelle. And they’ve also got some fabulous trainers: Riley, Melissa, David, Ben C, Emily, Ben F, Will, Sanjay, Haydn, Demèy and More. So if you haven’t already looked into joining a World Class Gym, remember today’s the day you Start. And THIS IS IT!!!!
Negative experience: The only highlight of this gym was a few of its staff. Management is poor and lazy, this gym does not call you if you owe them money. They will just let it build up until they see fit or they’ve made profit. Because of this club I never want to train at another goodlife health club ever again. Thank you.
Negative experience: Really inconvenient set up. Unhelpful staff and intolerably filthy bathrooms. Sorry but give this outlet a miss.

Negative experience: Not a great gym. Very hot in summer and staff don't have too much time for you. I cancelled my membership with 4 week notice period and was charged for 5 weeks, but when called to discuss was brushed off with a 30 second phone call. I now go to a local competitor which is much more friendly and better value. After all, if you don't use the pool you are still paying for it's maintenance.
Fantastic experience: The best part is the pool, sauna, steam, spa you get it all! Well the only down side is they are not 24/7 otherwise it would be perfect!!!!
Negative experience: Outdated gym, old equipment and unhelpful staff. Sorry, not what i signed up for.
