Fantastic experience: This centre is absolutely lovely. From the such friendly staff who spent time explaining everything about the safety aspects to my kids in a way they could understand, to the awesome new bouldering area (as well as the ropes). We had a great time & got our money's worth. Snacks & coffee were great too. The staff here make you feel so welcome. The climbing community at the centre are so nice & supportive. We will be back again!!

Negative experience: The staff who work here are seriously miserable, not a single smile or happy welcome to new climbers and very abrupt with there rules especially seeing as they fail to mention or have signs suggesting them.. very miserable people running this gym, stick to Warner’s bays a lot happier place to be without the bad vibe

Fantastic experience: The walls are varied (overhangs, slabs, etc.) Kilter and moon boards. Friendly vibes, and fairly busy.

Fantastic experience: Massive improvement since their reno around August last year. Now there's a new kilter board along with the old moon board (2016 I believe). There's also more wall space so a greater variety of climbing is now available. The small top rope section is still there which would be good for new climbers/kids

Fantastic experience: I climbed here years ago and wasn't impressed, but heard they'd redone the place so decided to give it another crack. To my pleasant surprise, the reno dramatically improved the gym! There's a huge selection of bouldering problems across something like a dozen different 'sections' including a slab, overhang, cave, etc. I climb here regularly now and am so happy Newy has a great climbing gym right in town!

Climbing is one of those sports anyone can do because of the incredibly broad skill level requirements, anywhere from complete begginer to semi-pro. Honestly, it is one of my favourite ways to spend my time. Need to go more often!

Positive experience: Super friendly staff and well equipped facilities. I'd give 5 stars if it wasn't a hot day. It wasn't air-conditioned and the food and drinks weren't much of choices. If it were air-conditioned and had some decent food, I'd highly recommend. The climbing was great!

Positive experience: Everything was great about this gym until I saw these two people climbing with their converses on and the staff just letting that happen. Seriously? It's disgusting. Sports/bouldering. $27 for day pass + chalk rental. Get's pretty crowded around 17:00-18:00 with locals. Grade 1-10 Since I was flashing couple 8's I think the grading is a bit soft. Kilter and spray wall allow for training.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly staff on Friday night for a big climbing session I had. Great diversity of route setting, fun problems. Only feedback is that I would have loved some crack!

Negative experience: Just needed to be reminded of companies belay policy. Very rude from the get go. If so concerned about safety probably shouldn’t have a go at me while my partner was still on the wall. You know my belay technic was not unsafe, it’s just a matter of gym policy, happy to hear that, not some other dribble. The lady who was there was very nice, I actually think I had the same situation with her before, she just kindly reminded me and we moved on. Also, when I was inducted whoever did that told me my belay technique was fine. If you want consistency, be consistent.

Negative experience: Having children working and giving us safety procedures is very unprofessional and they are too young for that. Other than that, great

Fantastic experience: Great climbing gym, I brought my son who has never boulder before while we are on holidays. I enjoyed the climbs myself, the staff were friendly and helpful. Other climbers were also friendly and up for a chat/discussion on the problems. Would definitely return if I’m in the area again.

Fantastic experience: I started coming to Pulse Climbing at Adamstown about a month ago and I absolutely love it. I'm a pretty big guy, unfit, overweight and have never done any climbing. I've only had positive interactions here and the staff have been super supportive and amazing. Special shoutout to Lou, Rose and Harry who have all been particularly friendly and helped me a lot.

Fantastic experience: We took my 6 year old nephew to Pulse during the school holidays. Sapphire taught us how everything worked and was very thorough going through everything. There's no time limit so I thought it was good value for money. He had a great time and I'm sure we'll be back soon!

Fantastic experience: Pulse climbing introduced me to climbing and has radically changed my life. This gym is essentially my second home. All the staff are engaging, attentive, funny and just genuine gnarly people. Also has pretty good pro shop if ya need some outdoor climbing gear.

Fantastic experience: First time Indoor Rock Climbing since I was at school and we had so much fun here. The lady there took the time to explain to us what we needed to do to be safe. She was polite, friendly and encouraging. We spent close to 3 hrs slowly climbing the walls but it honestly only felt like 30 mins, we were having so much fun. I would definitely recommend visiting here it was such a fun afternoon

Fantastic experience: Jason assisted my friend and I today. He had terrific customer service, something that has been an issue when I've used this service in the recent past. Because of Jason's customer service I'd rate today's visit 5. I'd rate a different employee's customer service a 0 (brown haired male who looked to be in his 20s and was condescending, impatient, rude, and inattentive. Unfortunately I didn't get his name). He needs to take a leaf from Jason's book!

Positive experience: Good facility and clean complex with good range of climbing walls with knowledgeable staff and decent equipment however, I don't believe Pulse Adamstown is welcoming for young kids. I have been to Pulse a number of times in the past without kids which I didn't have any issue. We decided to go on a Saturday where I had a family friend bring a 5 year old child that has mild to complex autism which can be very difficult to handle at times. The staff on this occasion were not very friendly, no smile or enthusiasm and weren't very accommodating unfortunately, we were told the rules in a stern way a number of times which gave us a hint we were more of a burden than a customer. We felt shunted off the bouldering wall as our friends child started to play up a little. We were told to leave the mat if we weren't climbing where it was quite obvious I was trying to assist controlling a difficult child. I was wondering why the complex is so empty on Saturday with no other kids in sight. Once we were left alone without having eyes on us constantly we managed to have a fun time. I would have preferred some empathy towards our situation at the time without having to spell out that our family friends child has a disability. I'm sure this won't be a problem in the future as I have brought this issue to your attention. Not sure, if I would feel inclined or recommend coming back with young children.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym awesome staff good atmosphere all round

Positive experience: Pulse is OK. No other choice in Newcastle for roped gym climbing. Reasonable selection of top rope climbs, two small bouldering areas and a small gym area. I always have good chats with the friendly staff and I've purchased gear from their small climbing shop. But overall it leaves a lot to be desired. Old ropes, annoying belay device setup, and no lead climbing to name a few.

Fantastic experience: It's not the biggest indoor climbing gym but it has a good range of climbs, is well set out and has friendly staff which all makes for a great experience.

Positive experience: Really good range of rock features to suit all abilities. The staff are great and help to advise you when they can.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome, lots of variety, and great staff. They have top rope climbing with partner belay (not auto belay), a variety of bouldering and also a gym area up stairs. They have an easy beginners wall to learn the ropes. They also have a gear store and gear hire too!
