Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing experience with Goodlife Preston. The lack of transparency in their cancellation policy, poor communication/ no response made the whole experience unnecessarily stressful. Despite fulfilling my three-month contract, I was charged additional fees for a policy I was never informed of. If you’re considering joining, be cautious and make sure you get everything in writing. I’ve never encountered such issues with any other fitness center and would not recommend Goodlife to anyone. More deets and the time line: Wanted to cancel and sent email a month ago. Then they tried to keep me which I agreed to try. BUT DID NOT INFORM ME 30days cancellation notice. I emailed again today…. Their response makes me uncomfortable… trying to criticise me for not going to the gym..… after I stated my wish to cancel several times..I was then informed to pay for another 30days…. Plus I have stopped going to gym for a few months… This is outrageous…
Negative experience: Was a member for 7 years. Staff were always nice. Moved house & needed to cancel - then management got greedy and tried to fleece me for more money. Wouldn't recommend it now - untrustworthy. Gym itself is OK but a little dated, not overly clean, class schedule is lacking - but it was convenient and relatively cheap. Being in a shopping centre, parking can be a nightmare, especially at busy times of the year (e.g Christmas). With current management I couldn't recommend this gym - too focused on profit rather than providing service to members.

Negative experience: Decent enough set-up but astoundingly expensive - over twice the price of local competitors - and I'm yet to have a session there and not find walking towards the men's changeroom to feel akin to heading down the hot dark stinky backpassage of a colossal cow. Seriously, I've never even made it all the way in there, but I'm almost certain at the very back lurks some heinous, Lovecraftian nightmare composed of mountainous coiled intestines. A great cosmic horror, grown to enormity upon the outrageously high direct debits it feeds upon. Also, there are never any resistance bands.

Negative experience: I spent 18 months at the Preston branch, and while it started off with great potential, my experience took a disappointing turn. The initial commitments and offers never materialized. To make matters worse, after I confirmed my decision not to renew my membership, I continued to be charged. Although the ongoing payments have finally been halted, I’m still owed two weeks' worth of fees. It’s been a frustrating battle of two months of email exchanges and back-and-forth debates to resolve the issue.

Negative experience: At the moment it’s horrible and in need of staff, cleaning, maintenance and attention. Their doesn’t appear to be any staff on floor, any personal trainers available despite being sold a package two months ago I’ve still not had a session or program, some equipment doesn’t work, as per below review 2 months ago there’s definitely no female section at all, steam room absolutely smells so bad and there’s not even any toilet paper in all 4 cubicles - just a tissue box in one of them…not sure what’s happened but it’s horrible to visit and not worth money as just some days a class once a day is on but 75% on timetable no longer run. No sanitiser, equipment wipes always out, very unsanitary for a gym.

Negative experience: Goodlife in Preston the worse gym You force my daughter to sign in contract, she was 16. Start from the first day since she sign in, never use any of your equipment and you get money from her every fortnight. So I’ve contact your office I want to cancel her membership and you’ve said I had to pay $300 for cancellation fee. She did all of that, and you guys makes money from people that never been using any of your equipment?! You want her to pay money for nothing? Rip off and that is stealing!

Fantastic experience: Very attentive manager (Adrian) and all the staff are very attentive and professional. Makes for an enormously fulfilling experience. They have pretty much all the equipment you need for resistance training, compound lifts, calisthenics and conditioning. Would highly recommend.

Positive experience: Spacious, decent amount of equipment and classes available but the advertised lady's section (upstairs) is no longer just FYI - often can be filled with males who can hog machines in particular the cable most likely because their multiple cable machines downstairs are in use. Wet towels available to wipe down but occasionally out. Clean bathroom. Staff are decent. My weekly locked in contract fee keeps going up as with everything.

Negative experience: Upon reading other reviews it seems that my Mother wasn't the only one who had issues cancelling, she was firstly told she didn't need to give notice by the manager, obviously this wasn't the case, she then submitted written notice to cancel the contract, this also wasn't honoured and she the gym continued to charge her, she then had to call up and their excuse was they missed the email, funny how they didn't miss any payments though... This gym should be investigated for poor work ethics firstly for lying about ending a contract, secondly for once the contract was cancelled and they continued to charge.

Negative experience: I just wanted to voice my concern upon hearing that Frank's classes are being scaled down at Preston, because of being late a few minutes, during a period of bereavement. Instead of supporting a long-term employee during a very difficult time, adverse action was taken . Axing his Friday night class was brutal and shows the disregard that you have for highly skilled, long term teachers.
Negative experience: A very, very poor and uninformed decision by management to cut Frank’s yoga classes, a long-term and well-loved teacher at Goodlife Preston. Frank is one of the best yoga teachers out there, highly skilled, experienced, this can be backed by all his students. I know of another member who attended Friday 8th March night class with the new replacement yoga teacher and they were appalled. This teacher was nowhere near as skilled as Frank, there was a lack of cues and limited and unclear instruction on how to safely use props. To cut his classes because he was late just a few times is very unfair. Frank’s recent lateness has been the result of being in a major car accident which he lost someone immensely dear to him. He is trying to cope with the transition back to work and significant grief. We as his students are more than happy to have patience, empathy and understanding for him during this time - which you as an employer should be demonstrating. Management please reconsider what you have done because you’ve upset many members who found solace in Frank’s classes. It’s decisions like this that cause you to lose members.
Fantastic experience: Love Simon’s cycle classes also Helen’s and Chris’s body pump classes. I also love the location and I have met some nice friendly gym friends. The instructors are lovely too. It’s has become my fit and social hang out.

Negative experience: Once you sign up they make it very expensive to cancel. Parking is horrible , long wait lots of traffic, small parking spaces. The security in the gym is poor . When I was leaving strangers were trying to come in and it was up to me to stop them at the door . Have some nice staff members but some of them obnoxious and condescending. Can’t wait to be able to afford to cancel.

When you request to cancel, they don’t respond, pretend you never requested to cancel and continue billing your card for months and months after you’ve requested to cancel. When you call and email AGAIN, they say all they can do is cancel as of today when the proof you requested to cancels months and months ago is right in front of them!! Horrible service, money scammers. Would not recommend. They stoop so low for a couple hundred dollars. Disgusting behaviour.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been a foundation member from the beginning and there have been lots of changes especially with the group fitness timetable. Still think Preston Goodlife is good value, staff have always been friendly and helpful. I believe that there is improvement in the group fitness timetable and that I’m sure this will happen in the future. I do a large variety of classes and have made some wonderful friends. Would recommend Preston Goodlife to friends. Keep up the good work!!

Negative experience: Disgusting and predatory sales behaviour against an autistic client and their carer. How dare you try to charge a companion card holder a membership fee to take care of their client. It was baffling to hear that they think the solution is upselling them PT when they have zero experience working with autistic children. Physical health has a direct tie to mental well-being and there should be methods in place for allowing neurodivergent people to have access to your gym in a safe and inclusive manner. That includes not charging their carer a yearly membership fee to ensure their client can visit their facilities safely.
Fantastic experience: Been a member for 9 years. Good atmosphere and very spacious. Friendly environment.
Negative experience: Was a decent gym until new management and signing up to many people,can't even get a machine or room to workout anywhere from 4pm onwards
Fantastic experience: I am a foundation member of this gym. It is great. The instructors are helpful, the classes run by Frank, Helen, Ruby, Simon, Vicki and others are all superb with lots of encouragement, expertise and excellence.
Negative experience: The worst gym you can ever find when you want to cancel your membership. New charges comes up after two months since I canceled my membership, and the only word they can say is “if you don’t pay you will be contacted by dept collector“.
Fantastic experience: I joined Goodlife Health Clubs in Preston over a year ago, and have been extremely satisfied since joining. Firstly, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. They are also always willing to assist with any questions or queries, whether it be regarding my membership, or even if I have a general query about the equipment etc. The gym itself is also fully equipped, with the latest equipment and on top of this, the gym offers amazing classes which cater for different needs, from Pilates, to Yoga, go Cycling classes and the instructors are also extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what they teach. Additionally, the personal trainers at the gym are extremely passionate, friendly and very accessible. The gym has a great layout with both an upstairs and downstairs area, and a positive and bubbly atmosphere which makes training very enjoyable. I have recommended this gym to many of my friends and family, and will continue to do so in the future!!
Fantastic experience: “Get past the door” That’s been my goal! “GoodLife Preston” has been my home since 2016. Admin & PT staff are well informed. The stand out for me has been the PT fitness sessions downstairs and classes upstairs that are available every day AM/PM. Price! GoodLife listened and provided me with a simple monthly solution. Yes competitive pricing as well. This is commitment to anyone thinking of joining a gym. I suggest you head down, look around and speak to Mike & Adrian. Clean facilities. Dry/Steam sauna rooms. The environment is fabulous. Thank you to the entire team with helping me reach my goals.

Fantastic experience: I’m one of the Personal Trainers at this gym and it’s such a pleasure being part of this team. The staff are always friendly and put members needs first. The gym space is excellent, with 2 huge studios, spin studio, functional area and plenty of machines so that even if busy periods, you can still have a sufficient workout with access to equipment.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy the facilities at Goodlife, & there are always treadmills/bikes & steppers available when I want. I train as much as I can (2-3 days a week) & find most of the staff are always friendly & polite!
Fantastic experience: This gym is excellent. There are variety of fitness classes per day giving me the chance to attend at least two classes per day plus heaps of equipment to use. The flexibility provided is fantastic regarding operation hours and lots of options depending on your mood in the day. I don't need to be worried if I miss a fitness class, or whether I booked. The staff and coaches are amazing. I have tried another gym where they have one type of fitness class for all day and no equipment, no facility, limited operation hours and the membership fee was more than double. I love GoodLife and it is a real value for money.
Negative experience: Been member here for over 7 years and equipment is outdated and basically from the prehistoric ages of the dinosaurs! Better gyms out there with new equipment. Paying a decent amount of member hence not leaving.

Negative experience: I’ve been going to Goodlife in Preston for over a year. Friendly folk up front, let down by gutter dirty membership growth tactics. My platinum membership allows me to take a friend every weekend. So I took a friend the once… She has had her phone hounded by someone, calling her daily, trying to convince her to become a member. If someone doesn’t return your call after 3 goes - maybe they’re not interested, Adrian? She has zero interest in visiting with me any more. Well done guys, you should be proud. Or not.

Negative experience: I've been coming here for the last 6 months. It's conveniently located and fine for my needs but LET ME JUST TELL YOU... I took my partner here to try it out and they literally won't stop calling her 3-5 times per day demanding follow up. She's told them to take her off the list as she thought the gym wasn't the right space for her and had too much of a "gym bro vibe," which I honestly understand. They continue to harass her from different numbers (making blocking calls impossible) and have been for the last several weeks which has left an awful taste in both our mouths. READ THE ROOM GOODLIFE. Totally over the top and non-consentual.
Negative experience: This club is so dirty it’s disgusting. After complaint to management on multiply occasions they still haven’t done anything about the mold in the bathrooms and the dirty equipment. Makes me sick.
Negative experience: This place isn’t 24/7. There’s always something getting in the way of delivering what they promise for your money - some electrical work, more electrical work, some leakage and god knows what else. I often get to the gym all pumped up for a great workout - 30 mins in the receptionist comes around telling everyone they are closing in 15. There was no communication when I walked in nor prior. Your text messages are unreliable because it’s inconsistent. Your receptionist asked me to check your fb page - well I don’t have fb… It’s quite frustrating to say the least

Fantastic experience: Great gym, I really enjoy attending, I find the other patrons have a great down to earth attitude, they are real people! Goodlife Preston has the latest equipment and quite clean. There is a lot on offer, where you can enjoy a personal workout, with heaps of machines to a great selection of classes. The instructors have a great positive attitude, which helps you enjoy your workout.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service from the point of entry to an expansive gym layout with new equipment both machine and free weights. Plenty of area for other types of training and a huge group fitness and cycle room. Premium gym!
Negative experience: Terrible. Don't sign a contract with them and if you have just pay the $200 cancellation fee and run.
Positive experience: Easy to join but hard to get out. Was told different things while communicating with different people. Give 30days notice but was charged for more. Several phone calls back and forth. Dispate every one trying to help, not sure if i would join them again.

Negative experience: Super aggressive sales team, literally corned me into signing up when I came down just too look at the venue. Would not take no for an answer Even though I kept telling them it was too far from my home, I tried to cancel when I got home and they wouldn't let me. Never again will I step foot in a good life. There's gyms that care about people and there's gym that are all about money. Goodlife is the second.

Fantastic experience: Been a member for half a year. Easily the best gym I've ever used. Big, open main space with super high ceilings and an abundance of natural light. Great selection of equipment, clean and modern change rooms/toilets. About my only complaint would be the wipes dispensers are often empty.

Positive experience: I have been to a few of the good life gyms and while the staff as as friendly as usual this gym has clearly not updated the equipment in a while and it’s very much starting to show, there’s not even a decent elliptical! Definitely on the smaller side for a good life but could definitely improve their range of machines.

Positive experience: Joined the gym just under a month ago and I was assisted by Gabby with the sign up. Gabby and her front desk are awesome! Good facilities and quite spacious too. There are some awesome group classes and instructors. Fantastic personal trainers and they're always at hand to help. I look forward for my gym visits.

Negative experience: I had the worse experience with the team at Goodlife be careful when signing their agreements. They treat you so bad when you want to leave and read all the T&Cs with them I will never go back there and would not recommend any of my family or friends to join at Goodlife Preston. It was a really bad experience dealing with the customer service there and still I get a text from them if I want to come back. The worse gym I have ever dealt with do not sign up or you will regret it when trying to leave.

I was defrauded over $1000 over a 24 month contract I signed that was secretly with an external debt collection company and not GoodLife and was threatened into paying the full amount dispute being under duress when signing. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH GOODLIFE!

Negative experience: Awful experience dealing with their reception, very poor customer service. I am a member of goodlife health club for about 2 years, I haven't used it even for 30 days in totall. I took my sister one night and used my husband membership card but they stopped me from using the facility simply because I am not allowed to bring her with me and when I asked where does this rule is coming from thy said it is in your contract, then I asked ok show me and funny enough they could not find it....any way a good customer service would suggest a 10 days free membership to my sister who is a visitor here instead of asking us to leave the club.
Negative experience: I cannot believe how expensive it is to leave this gym, even with a letter from my physio, rejected, and then a follow up letter from my GP supporting the physios letter. It seems even more arbitrary when one looks at how many local gyms offer comparable facilities, classes, equipment, and so on for a similar price and yet do not require any lock in contact. I cannot medically continue on with this gym but I can’t afford their cancellation fees. Does the manager care? Not one bit. Was she easy to get in touch with to begin with? I called so many times and was told there was no manager available. Do not join this gym before researching alternatives. It’s actually offensive the way they approach people wanting to leave.
Fantastic experience: Northland. The equipment is good the staff aren’t.they chase cash , annoyingly. Spend no time in the gym with the members: leading directing supporting. They like the desk and the desk only .plus several PT are very very impressed with themselves for no good reason! I suppose if you look like you need a PT you disqualify yourself PLUS the gym is for everyone not just your sycophants who slow the flow! Equipment fine staff fail ! Try integrity and discipline less smoke and mirrors...
