Positive experience: Definitely one of the better good life’s around. The staff are friendly, facilities are kept clean and equipment is not often broken for too long (on the odd occasion it is, like the seated row) but in general gear mostly all works. Only thing is I wish they had more than 1 lat pull down machine and more than 1 seated row! These are always really popular and often taken. I also really wish they had a hip thrust machine, maybe wishful thinking there but it would be nice. Being in there today it does feel like the AC upstairs is broken or off? Very hot in summer.

Fantastic experience: The Reform Pilates is a great 45 minute program. The instructor is very knowledgeable and helpful. The TV screens and voice over programs really help with guidance in the exercise along with the instructor. The class is a fantastic way of exercising. I would recommend the classes to all as the instructor does provide work arounds where an exercise may be difficult to carry out. Give it a go, you will enjoy it!!

Negative experience: Thieves. Will charge you more than what is agreed. Will have additional costs that are billed without your permission. Will continue to bill you after your agreement has ended. They will not answer emails or calls.

Negative experience: Signed up for a reformer pilates class here as part of their open week. No one was on the reception desk to tell me how to sign in or where to go when I arrived, and no one turned up to reception until after the class had started so I wasn't able to participate. Based on this experience I definitely wouldn't join this gym as a member.

Positive experience: Staff is ok, very rarely have any interaction which suits me, an occasional hello when you go in would be welcome though. Gym is clean and generally the equipment is in good condition. My two issues with the gym are that the lockers are in terrible condition and have been for the three years I’ve been a member, the majority don’t lock and a few have doors missing or hanging off, they’ve always been like this for at least three years. Mainly though, when a machine gets tagged out for maintenance, you can say goodbye to it for at least a couple of months, unacceptable in my opinion.

Negative experience: Terrible gym, everything is in random spot that has no order, and if the machine isnt half broken its older than methuselah, absolutely profit fueled gym

Fantastic experience: Thoroughly loved visiting this gym on the weekend. It’s always clean, the aircon is nice and strong, the equipment is all fresh and the patrons are all respectful. Will be trying to make this gym a switch from my regular valley/newstead goodlife.
Positive experience: The proximity to my home ain’t great. But otherwise, I like the mix of aerobic / yoga / Pilates classes, plus the weights with 24h access. Good mix. The upbeat well-appointed vibe is great.

Negative experience: The Gym is ok…. The car park is the worst in Australia … my tip do not go there to shop of go to the Gym.
Negative experience: Do not recommend. The Manager and staff put off my partner and I’s cancellation multiple times. Every time we called they weren’t able to help us. The Manager, Brett Sterran was supposed to contact us multiple times to help arrange the cancellation because no one else could. He never did, we had to chase it up ourselves and kept getting the same answer that “he is out of office and will call us tomorrow” (never happened). I raised it further on my partners behalf because nothing was happening. My partner also tried to put the membership on hold which Brett cancelled early without notice, knowing the financial difficulties we were having.

Positive experience: I took a 6 month contract, as knew I would be relocating later in the year. I am in my 60s and hired a specialist rehabilitation PT (David Fernandez) three days a week for this period. I had several injuries and aches and pains when I started, all of which have resolved with the focus of David. In addition, I have lost 10kg and learnt many 'form' related exercises that I understand, through David's ongoing reiteration & education which will assist my flexibility and agility into the future. I highly recommend David Fernandez and his customised training techniques which make exercise enjoyable and gets results.
Negative experience: Had a terrible experience with this gym! The club manger - Brett Sterren, was absolutely awful! I’ve never been treated that badly by a customer service person before in my life! On both email and phone, he was condescending and rude, and didn’t show any compassion and or that he could listen. Brett was treating me like I was stupid - Explaining how an eftpos machine works when I asked for a receipt etc. He was very disrespectful. My friend and I signed up for the exact same membership and at the exact same time. She canceled hers earlier this year with no payment. When I tried to cancel my membership I was made to pay $295, when I was explaining that my friend didn’t pay anything, I was met with absolute rudeness. Do not sign up to this gym! Wish I could give 0 stars!! Goodlife should be ashamed to have him as a manager of one of their gyms!

Positive experience: Normally pretty good- but almost everytime you visit, an array of machines will be out of order and are unlikely to be fixed anytime soon. The top floor has at least 4 machines out of order as per my last visit, and with the few machines available you often find yourself stalking people your entire session.
Negative experience: Beware joining this gym. When it comes time to cancel your membership they’ll give you the run around, pretend they lost your notification you gave in person, ignore emails and then chase you for debts when you have payment stopped.
Negative experience: Dishonest, deceitful, poor customer service and don't trust with your account details.
Negative experience: This gym has appalling practices. After calling to cancel my sons membership due to undergoing immediate surgery which rendered him completely incapable of attending, they still continued to debit funds from his account. No exceptions would be made even with evidence to support the injury. Highly discourage anyone to join this club.

Positive experience: Gym gets seriously packed when I needed to use it. Multiple items of equipment I was using were poorly maintained for the 18month period I was using the gym. There is definitely a great spread of equipment and options. Plenty of cliental that like leaving equipment wherever they drop it, which I suppose you can’t blame the gym, but perhaps a sign of some of the cliental in the area. When you ask to stop the membership and direct debits, they keep slugging you for 30days of fees even if you have completed your contract term and can’t use the gym due to circumstances out of your control. Definitely no moral compass when dealing with their customers in this instance. Instant price hikes after first 12 month contract, even though they were running a promo for a considerable amount less per week. I will not be coming back when I return to the area.
Negative experience: The payment system Debit Success is terrible. Seem to be more concerned with $ than the fitness of their clients.
Fantastic experience: I don't often get there as much as I used to try to use it more often again. When staffed, the staff seem very well trained and engager to help with customer needs.

Fantastic experience: Ashgrove has been my home club for many years and I love it. Great staff, great equipment, great group fitness instructors (my favourite) and great members too. A fun, safe environment for all. No matter where one's fitness journey may be at, there is no discrimination, only encouragement and support. Everyone is welcome.
Negative experience: It’s currently 3am and your emergency alarm has been going off for 20 minutes keeping the whole neighbourhood awake. This has happened several times. Cheers

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, it’s perfect for someone who wants to get in, get a work out done and go. The equipment is well taken care of like most Goodlife’s and there is a great range. It’s a spacious gym with two levels. The bottom level has squat racks and a large amount of dumbbells and barbells. Upstairs is set up perfectly for my workout routines! Both have cardio machines. Just needs a sauna! Overall great gym. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Best gym
Negative experience: If I could give 0 I would. I suffered a severe ankle fracture which needed 4 surgeries and resulted in a bone infection which has seriously effected my ability to train. I SPECIFICALLY asked when signing up if my ankle wasn't ready, would a doctors certificate release me from my contract, which I was assured it would. Fast forward to now, I have a doctors certificate clearly stating I am not physically able to train, indefinitely, as my injury is unpredictable. However I will not be released, they will only freeze the account until I can transfer it to someone else, which I haven't managed to do. Zero compassion or empathy to a situation out of control which is causing me significant stress in troubling financial times. Disgusting.

Negative experience: I joined Goodlife because of the class options, they used to run Pilates multiple times a week in the evenings. Now they have added reformer pilates for an added cost and only have regular pilates during work hours.
Positive experience: Good facilities and trainers but the number of school kids there can make it very hard to get equipment at times
Negative experience: Very well equipped gym at a reasonable price, although can be a little crowded at times. Shame about the staff. Some are decent, but others can be outright disrespectful, and seem to have lost the concept of customer service.
Fantastic experience: The Ashgrove Goodlife gym is an excellent space to train. The staff are friendly, helpful and supportive and the facilities pay very close attention to hygiene which is important during the current phase of COVID-19. Great trainers who are professional and caring.

Positive experience: Great gym and great atmosphere. All though as a member for over a year now. I like to say you guys are a bit slack with letting your members know that gym has temporary due to covid19 or for what ever reason. A simple email to all members would go a long way rather than me walking 2.5kms in the rain all to find out via a note on the door saying your gym is temporarily closed. Positive experience: Overall good gym. Please sort out the mould issue on the air-conditioning system - very unhygienic and unhealthy to be breathing this air! Additionally, equipment with cracked leather pads need to be fixed as uncomfortable and some borderline unusable (i.e. leg raises/chin up machine upstairs)

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience with these guys, sad to move gym, but it’s an unfortunate move I have to make due to moving to a suburb that doesn’t have a goodlife. Great customer service, great trainers, amazingly clean and new facilities. Would 100% recommend their personal trainer program (even if it’s just the kickstart one). Lucinda was particularly helpful in helping me cancel my membership, no muss no fuss. Will definitely come back if they open one near my new place. Thanks Lucinda & the Goodlife team!

Was told that when I joined my contract would have no cancellation fees and now when I’m wanting to cancel they are trying to make me pay $345 to leave or continue for 36 more payments. The lady that signed me up told me she would be adding in to my contract that I would have no cancellation fees and now they are trying to say I’m a liar. DO NOT SIGN UP. DO NOT GO ON A CONTRACT.

Negative experience: I've been a member for 18 months which is the minimum amount of time I can get out my contract without paying a fee. They are trying to tell me that they added an extra 11 weeks due to Covid closure which means I will have to pay $195 cancellation fee
Negative experience: Would give 0 if I could, good luck getting out of a membership after it's been on hold. After placing my membership on hold during covid I received a text from Brett the week before my membership hold finished asking if I would like to either cancel or start my membership up again. I texted back letting him know that I'd like to cancel my membership which I assumed would mean the two payments to cover my 30 days notice. Instead, they have charged me for the week between when he texted me and when my membership was due to start up again. It's extremely sneaky to be that petty and charge me for an extra week. So now not only do I have to pay the $55 for cancelling I've been charged an extra week on-top of that. I asked if they would be kind enough to waive the extra week as I was unaware of that happening but Brett continued to deny it saying that everything that he did was fair.

Went to a boxing and pump class, both were very professional, and awesome fun, although I did feel quite sore after these... haha. Negative experience: Made no effort to accommodate changes in circumstance, even when these changes were substantial and we weren't attempting to cancel the membership. Took every opportunity to take our money but no empathy or effort to accommodate or help. Overcharged and wrongly-charged me several times-- I was promised this would be resolved, but it never was. Very unprofessional customer service manager (Marta) who even name-called in our final conversation (called me passive-aggressive). Not to mention when equipment was broken at the club, it would remain unfixed for weeks (water fountain downstairs; stair handrail; both leg presses upstairs). Terrible experience all around.

Just had to share - I don’t normally do this... but it has to be said. I was just stopped by ‘Goodlife Gym’ in Ashgrove & offered a free plastic water bottle as a gym promotion. When I asked about this & suggested it may not be the wisest choice in this day & age... I was told “in this day & age some people can’t afford to buy water in glass bottles”. What? I was so shocked I just had to laugh it was so ridiculous. I am still in shock. Goodlife should be doing WAY better than this... hugely disappointed in their lack of thought & attitude; and the attitude of their staff.” I would love to hear a response please from management. I just noticed someone else posted about the water bottle promo recently too. Please re-think your marketing strategy (and staff) guys!!! Mel
Positive experience: Commercial Gym, lots of equipment. Heaps of classes, yoga, Pilates, boxing. Good instructors. No soul though, and definitely a business vibe, but a good place to start your fitness journey
