Fantastic experience: I have been at GoodLife Coburg for just over 6 months now, I have nothing but good reviews about this gym. The manager Tiffany, she's super helpful and will always go that extra kilometre for anyone! The equipment is always up to scratch, clean and all working as it should. The community here is amazing, I feel at home at GoodLife Coburg.

Negative experience: I've been a member since 2018, but earlier this year, I had to cancel for a family overseas trip. Upon my return, I spoke to a sales representative over the phone, who signed me up without my acknowledgement. Since early September, I've requested them to stop taking money from my account, but despite speaking to multiple representatives, I've seen no results. They're misleading people and stealing hard-earned money. I'm waiting another week before reporting this to Consumer Affairs.

Negative experience: I went in for a trial with my wife, and the experience was disappointing. The staff member at reception implied I’d be able to do a free trial, but then told me I had to pay $25. The information I was given was inconsistent and confusing. The staff seemed inexperienced, and overall the gym feels poorly run. Wouldn’t recommend based on this experience.

Negative experience: I’ve been trying to resolve an issue with Goodlife Coburg for several months regarding the mismanagement of my membership. In July 2024, I was told that my membership would be placed on a six-month freeze with no further charges, but since then, I’ve continued to receive charges despite this agreement. I’ve reached out multiple times via phone, email, and social media, but there has been no satisfactory resolution. While Goodlife has responded a few times, the issue remains unresolved, and I continue to receive emails from Debitsuccess regarding unauthorised charges. I’m disappointed that this has dragged on for so long, especially after being a loyal member. I’ve even filed complaints with Consumer Affairs Victoria and the ACCC, and I’m still waiting for Goodlife to take this matter seriously and cancel my membership as agreed, without further charges. I’m sharing this so others are aware of the difficulties in resolving membership issues and hope that Goodlife can step in to resolve this promptly.

Negative experience: Been with this gym since last 4 years. Very good equipments but the steam room and sauna are usually I am keen on. They have changed the staff hours and usually steam was accessible at 6am. Pissed as they changed these facilities time to reduce their staff hours. Hopefully they change hours back to normal

Negative experience: BRUH. This isn’t my local but have been here in the past, usually come in before starting work. Nothing better than a sauna before a day of landscaping to loosen up stiff joints. Today I got to Coburg just after 6am (the time previously advertised as staffed)… and couldn’t even get in the door. Don’t have an after hours card, no one at Goodlife has ever talked to me about getting one. So couldn’t get INTO the gym I pay for. No worries, a nice lady was coming in eventually so she tagged me in. Crisis averted, head to the sauna. The cold sauna that’s not even on. Neither is the steam room. Advertised as being on from 6am last I checked. It’s now 6:50, still no staff, still no sauna. PISSED OFF is an understatement.

Negative experience: Hi guys, I think the gym itself is not too bad. Clean enough and the vibe is also OK. Just really upset about the fact that staff hours have been drastically changed and affected the sauna working hours. All of this without letting customers know. Very sneaky. We'd love to speak to your further about this but weren't able to locate your membership with the name provided in this review so politely ask you to either call us on 1300 393 733 or reach out to us via Direct Message on Facebook or Instagram. For all changes to our facility availability, unless for safety concerns that require immediate attention, we provide at least 30 days' notice in the form or signage in the club and can confirm there was a sign at reception notifying members of the changes to staff hours. Negative experience: I joined GoodLife Gym around 8 months ago, and I regret every cent spent. This place is only good at taking your money. The equipment is old, outdated, and barely functional. It’s clear they haven’t invested in new machines or proper maintenance for years. The environment is uninspiring and not conducive to a good workout. On top of that, my membership was frozen, yet they still charge a $5 fee every week even when you though you can't use the gym. Upon canceling, they continue to bill you for months on end. Save your money and find a gym that actually cares about providing a quality experience.

And when I try to call no one ever answers and when i went in to sign forms they still say they cant find it and they wont refund money or cancel membership after 6 weeks they just told me i need to wait 4 weeks Avoid avoid!

Negative experience: Avoid this gym. Similar to the other 1 star ratings here - they charge you 1 extra months of fees for cancelling, even if you are out of contract. This is terrible practice and no where is it mentioned.

Negative experience: The worst gym going. Biggest rip off. Every month on top of your debit, they take 8$ from your account. I asked what's that for, they said so that you can have a meeting with a trainer to see how your going. I said stuff the trainer I don't want to talk to anybody, but they kept charging me. I cancelled my membership but they took another months debit. They are scammers especially the one in Coburg. Go elsewhere.

Negative experience: It is ridiculous how a gym can charge you with a 1 month of fees after notice of cancellation on a no lock-in contract policy. This practice raises concerns about transparency and fairness. As a customer, I value clear terms and hope the gym can reconsider its policy to align better with the flexibility promised in a no-lock-in contract. The staff lies about no end of contract fees too. Don’t go this dodgy gym and get better and transparent deal elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Works at goodlife health clubs are so friendly
Negative experience: Very average gym considering the high price you are paying compared to other gyms in the area. It is such a big space but all the machinery is cramed together with majority of the gym being just exercise bikes and treadmills. I even got asked to leave a 5 star review considering that the reviews are average. Wouldn't reccomend this gym to people in the area and would go for other cheaper gyms in the area.

Negative experience: Facilities and staff are good, though their joining contracts are predatory and completely unnecessary in this day and age. They make you pay for 30 days of membership when you cancel and you can’t even put the membership on hold without paying them $5 per week.. ridiculous for a gym. Better ones out there that have no lock in contracts with debt collectors waiting in the background.

Negative experience: My encounter with Goodlife has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their promise of a free signup turned out to be a deceptive ploy to lure unsuspecting customers. Even after I cancelled my subscription, they continued to deduct money from my account without any explanation or consent. The icing on the cake is their abysmal customer service. It's as if they've mastered the art of ignoring customers' pleas for help. Responses were slow, unhelpful, and, frankly, rude. I strongly caution anyone considering Goodlife to steer clear. This company's unethical practices, disregard for customers, and lack of accountability are simply unacceptable. My experience has left me both frustrated and appalled. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for a trustworthy and customer-centric service.

Negative experience: It’s amazing how this place is still open with ridiculous prices but the one thing that does beat Essendon is that it has working sauna and steam rooms. Also a girls section but other than that it’s a very basic boring gym, the equipments old and they don’t even have a hack squat or any equipment like a glute drive or single leg curl that many other gyms have. It’s a gym for people just getting into fitness but that’s really it. Still the price is too high for what you get
Negative experience: I can’t express the pure frustration I have had encountering this place. I signed a 12 month contract, used the facilities for one month, got a job interstate where there is no goodlife gym, explained my situation and now they want to charge me an exit fee that is more than the payments I would have to pay until the end of the contract! How can they charge fees that are so disproportionate to the possible ‘loss’ when a contract is broken?? Don’t go near this place, don’t sign any contracts, don’t believe them when they say they will look after you, don’t sign any direct debit contracts, don’t enter the gym…they are misrepresenting themselves to an extraordinary degree.

I’ve been a member for a year and this seems to be the general state of things… Dust caked on vents, ants and god know what else all over the showers. Also for a ‘premium’ gym you need to bring your own padlock for lockers. Seems there is budget for advertising to get new contracts signed though. Maybe a bit of that money could go to some bug spray and shower cleaner? Won’t be renewing my membership.

Fantastic experience: I joined Goodlife Coburg Friday last week. From the get go I received professional and friendly help. Firstly from Georgina when she explained the various membership options before I joined, and then from Edwina who took me on my first training session on Monday and set up a training programme.

Fantastic experience: Of all the years I’ve been into my fitness and training, I have managed to find some pretty average places called gyms. However this gym is certainly a diamond in the rough. Especially the sales staff, they treated me with awesome respect and never once have hesitated to help of i ever needed it. Couldn’t recommend this place more to anyone. Top shelf.

Negative experience: I signed up to a 12 month contract with Goodlife health clubs in November of 2020, however when i tried to contact the club to cancel in November 2021 (after the nominated 12 months had passed.) They informed me that they had put my membership on hold throughout the lockdown and I was now required to continue the membership for at least another 6 months or pay a $200 cancellation fee. I am no longer residing in the suburb so I am not able to access the gym anymore but am still forced to pay for the membership weekly. I have contacted consumer affairs regarding this matter as it is extremely unethical.

Fantastic experience: Love that they have a dedicated women-only area but the change area is small. Has a better selection of classes than other Goodlife gyms in the area, plus the ARENA classes make this gym definitely great value for money. Lots of parking available, and staff are very helpful.

Negative experience: One of my friends suggested me to join the Goodlife Gym coburg later I found out he was paying 13$ a week and my rate was 23$ a week I asked them to match the rate or consider my notice period from today no one contacted me and the gym kept charging the money. When I put in my notice in writing later I was offered 16$ a week and 4 week free period for the same membership. Not to mention I didn’t get two weeks free period as promised when I joined. So either find a better gym in your area or do your proper research before joining this gym and negotiate your rates. I feel that I was ripped off!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member at Goodlife Coburg for 5 years and it is a fantastic gym. I alternate between using the main gym floor and cardio area, and the women’s only space. Aspects I really like are the 24 hour access and the spacious facilities. There is plenty of well maintained equipment and crowding is never an issue. Staff are always friendly and responsive to queries. The gym has a positive vibe and respectful culture. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Gym seems decent (ie: equipment and cleanliness), however, I trialed their 5 day free trial and this was my experience: Immediate call to book in a time that day to go through basics and offers - fair enough, I understand the need for safety and marketing. However, this is where it got weird for me. Before even trying out the gym, they started making offers of 10% off the current price if I gave up the 5 day free trial. This seems predatory on people's motivation to become fit. When I delved in deeper, the price they quoted included 3 monthly PT sessions. When I mentioned that I already had a PT and didn't need this, their response was "unfortunately, this is included in the price and cannot be altered." Now, I don't blame the staff member I spoke to: this is definitely a managerial choice. TL:DR I tried it out, wasn't horrible, but I was left with a dirty feeling of being preyed on.

Negative experience: After a distressing year and circumstances they still hassled me for money when I contacted head office and asked to cancel my membership as Covid 19 created massive stresses in my life and also shut the gym down. They had no understanding, empathy and did not care to help me at all. Do not recommend getting sucked into this money grabbing place

Negative experience: Please be just a little bit more shape
Positive experience: Great gym with a lot of cardio machines and a huge weight training area with many free weights and machines to use.
Fantastic experience: Goodlife health clubs are amazing. You can use all their multiple venues around Melbourne. The staff is friendly and ready to help. You can find great opportunities of different activities if you like to commute, for instance squash courts In Fitzroy venue and climatized swimming pools in Hoppers Crossing. If you like to take clases everything what you need is there, and I particularly found yoga classes very high level and many other disciplines. Thanks
Negative experience: And if you were slammed by Covid, devastated and displaced do not expect any compassion from Goodlife particularly from the reception staff, uncaring and unconcerned, 0 Wellbeing shown, all about the $$. The only response is being harassed by debt collectors ( when did the gyms reopen ? ). Also I believe they deleted this from facebook yesterday , that is their response.

Negative experience: Awful place. Trying to stop them taking money from my account when I had a hip replacement was a nightmare. The communication between front desk staff and management non existent. Beware when you try and leave, they keep taking your money.
Fantastic experience: great gym sauna and steam room are great ,THE MUSIC IS WAY TOO LOUD AND THE AIR CON WAY TOO COLD !!! and the best part is they have a female section upstairs for women only, they need to open the facilities later as most men like to work out later after 8 pm and the steam sauna would be great until 10 pm like the wantirna one
Negative experience: Bad experience in getting access to the place and customer service. I was transferring membership from a colleague, walked in and was told that the process takes 45 minutes and they don’t have enough time today, come again. Went in next day and the process took only 10min. Couldn’t believe it, since joining I haven’t been able to use facility with my 24/7 access as it gets disabled. Got up early on Sunday to hit the gym and pass doesn’t work. Its been a bad decision taking up this membership.
Positive experience: Well stocked.
Negative experience: I trained here just casually with a friend who was a member to see what it was like, don't love the place to train. I have spent time in various gyms and I definitely think there are far better options. I will continue to look for another option.

Negative experience: Stay away from this place... after I joined, there was no support, the staff virtually non existent, cold, aloof. I have tried cancelling my membership numerous times ( been a member there for years, the only time I received service was when I try to cancel ) but I find going to other gyms and training studios more fun and encouraging as this place is not motivating. When I requested cancelling last year they encouraged me to suspend membership at $5.00 a fortnight then see how I feel. I called them in March to cancel as they advised I needed to give them 1 months notice... , we are in July and they continue to deduct payment from my account. Manager is never available and they don’t call me back . Today the excuse was managers were in a meeting. It’s now almost 8pm no call back and they are still taking my money. Please stay away, there are plenty of gyms to choose from who will give you friendly support and advice and treat you like a person rather than just take your money.
Negative experience: Liars ! Tried to charge my wife 97.6 for not attending the gym given 1 year cooling off period just before giving birth. They Could not explain why we need to pay the amount of 97.6! Never again with them. Stay well away from it. Keep changing people after they cancelled memberships

Fantastic experience: Fine gym with cool staff. Has all the good weight machines, cardio kit and free weights one will need. Very competitive costs too...
Negative experience: I couldn’t go to gym anymore and I ask for cancelation of my membership but even after I cancelled a membership they took two payment and they going to take 1 more , when i asked the reason they said its our policy, if this is a policy this is very bad one, why i should pay while i cant go and I cancelled
Positive experience: Decent gym with great studio space.
Positive experience: Great for weight training. Good squat racks. High ceilings, feels very open. Friendly staff and it's nice and quiet on the weekends. Bring some headphones. Crappy playlist.
Negative experience: They were very nice for sign up but when i wanted to cancel my membership the manager told me that my membership is canceled but they took about 3months money from my account and after so many times chasing this cancelation finally they canceled my membership

Positive experience: I came from another Goodlife club and some machines are kinda weird here. But overall okay.
