Negative experience: I was a member for almost a year and had constant issues with my membership. Wouldn’t recommend at all, looking for a place that charges as advertised. I was charged way too much for access to things I was meant to have but never had. This place is ridiculous.

Negative experience: This gym consistently has a lack of available machines. If you are visiting the gym with a workout plan or an idea of the types machines you would like to use - think again. The floor plan is too small for the amount of members it is hosting. It’s tightly packed, providing limited space to complete a work out on the floor. When attempting to cancel the membership, I was disappointed to experience a lack of helpfulness and overall unfriendliness from staff. Aside from these negatives, if you have the ability to go in the middle of the day, expect to experience the aforementioned environment.

Positive experience: Love this gym :) Big, clean and a lot of machines. Would give 5 Stars if they would be 24/7 open as I often work until late. Also they need some more glute machines fe good morning machines, more leg presses, kickback machine and at least one more hip thrust machine. Besides that everything fantastic! Negative experience: This place is a scam with gym equipment. I paid for 5 weeks and was only allowed to use the gym for 3 weeks. The discussion I had with the person when I signed up left out details of their overly complicated terms and conditions they’re happy explain in depth when they want more money out of you. I regret signing up as I got ripped off and then told it was my fault. The staff told me this situation ‘never happens’ but after reading the rest of the reviews it seems very common for them to rip people off. Don’t allow direct debit that’s for sure. ***I did email them as advised below but they never responded. They wanted to waste more of my time. This company is toxic, avoid if you value your peace of mind.

Negative experience: I cannot cancel my membership. I left the country in February and went in person beforehand to cancel my membership through the staff- they kept charging me. I called them 3 months later to rectify this and emailed through a copy of the form and they're still charging me! This place is an absolute scam and I would not recommend to anyone in the community.

Negative experience: What a scam! This place keeps charging your card, even after you’ve given ample notice of ending your membership. Don’t be fooled, like we were.

Negative experience: Can not recommend. I trained at Crunch Dee Why for two months and wanted to cancel after that. They kept charging me over 2.5 months after I had cancelled my membership. No apologies and no one seemed to be able to fix the problem, not even the club manager

Negative experience: Actual Gym is fine. But very sharky payment practices. They charge you $6.50 EVERY time they try to deduct their membership payment and it doesn’t go through. I wonder what the ACCC would make of that? Seeing as no one else I know of does this sort of blatant money grabbing.
Hi JW, thanks for leaving feedback! The fee you incurred is because we were unable to deduct your fortnightly membership fee from your nominated payment method. To avoid this, you just need to make sure there are sufficent funds on your nominated payment method each fortnight. This rejection fee you have incurred is detailed in your membership agreement which you would have read and acknowledged when you became a part of Crunch. We can also assure you that dishonour/rejection fees are common practice in most businesses with reoccurring payments. If you have any further questions just let us know!

Negative experience: We have been trying to cancel my son’s membership for about 6 weeks and they are still taking money from our account. We have spoken to the manager Gabrielle a number of times at Dee Why who promised to call back each time with no luck. We sent emails to head office and done online query form, as you can’t speak to anyone in head office apparently. We have sent emails medical certificate and been in personally to cancel membership. Initially we spoke to Aaliyah who was incredibly rude on the front desk with no help. Process is absolutely ridiculous and will never return to this debacle

Fantastic experience: The reviews originally put me off however have been a member since Sept and can't fault it for the price. Team at reception are friendly and helpful (I.e let me charge my headphones behind the desk). For $11 a week it's a great price per rep ♂️.

Positive experience: Good gym but items could be fixed a bit quicker. Assault bike took 8 weeks to fix, currently the clock is wrong and water fountain is broken.

Fantastic experience: I didn't like the earlier manager. They were non-friendly. Ever since Tommy has started here, it has been really wonderful visiting this gym. Tommy and his staff are extremely friendly and motivate you for a great workout as you enter the gym. Tommy deserves a raise. a Few more months of him here and Crunch's overall rating should reach High 4 stars.

Positive experience: I enjoy the crunch gym and Paula is a wonderful counter person as I walk in. The only negative is that when I joined, the wifi was an added incentive. Now there is no wifi.. Hopefully this will be resolved.

Negative experience: It’s been advertised cheap price but when I joined it and experience it. Find out been charged 590$ in 2.5 months. I personally don’t find this gym good overal. Pricing is worse … it looks cheap at the beginning but it’s most expensive in practical. Very bad communication from the staff member. While the head office team won’t listen to you at any condition. Negative experience: I would leave 0 stars if I could. The gym is disgusting, run down, old, smelly, hotter than outside, some of the staff is stuck up, and the equipment is not up to par.

Negative experience: Don't join this gym if you don't want to get ripped off. I have been wanting to cancel my subscription for about twenty days, first they tell me that they can't and that they have to charge me a fine of 240 aud and then they keep charging me every two weeks. When I repeatedly told them that I was going to go to the gym for only two months. They don't answer the mails you send them, they don't help you, the staff is different every day and they don't know what to answer you. And all the people have problems with the same thing. It should close this place, it's really embarrassing.

Negative experience: Cancelling my membership was an absolute joke. I would laugh if it wasn't for the fact it was incredibly frustrating. Despite being told I had to come in to cancel, they in fact had no cancellation forms and concerningly the manager could not locate the form on the i-drive. Be warned it will take 5 emails and 3 follow up calls totalling 15+ days to get your membership cancelled. No one from Dee Why ever followed up on my emails unless I called them too. Shout out to Nina though, communication with her was 10/10.

Negative experience: I am a member at this gym but unfortunately no maintenance seems to ever happen at the club. I’ve been a member for 2 months and the same equipment that was broken upon joining the club is still currently broken. The one echo bike has been broken the whole time. In addition, about 50% of the treadmills are faulty. Randomly just switch off during a run. Please can you rectify these maintenance concerns with our bi monthly fees. Thanks

Your staff are far from friendly, your manager gives of the most uncomfortable vibes, crunch steal from their members. And I have emailed my concerns and I’m yet to receive a response. You charge hidden fees without disclosing it, your members take photos of others members without their consent and bully. This place is horrible. - Beyond disappointed by this place…. 10000 better gyms surrounding this place for a couple dollars more a week. Worth every cent if this is the variety of gyms on offer.

Negative experience: I enjoyed my time at crunch due to the low fees and the equipment. However when I had to cancel I was told the incorrect amount that was going to be debited out of my account. The way the gym is managed is very poor. The gym manager has no idea what he is doing and blinks and stares at you like he's having an aneurysm. Along with not being upfront with the hidden feels that are likely to come out of your account when you cancel. Think twice before signing up or pay a little more at another gym for quality.

Fantastic experience: Crunch Dee Why has nice and new equipment and the fees are really low. The best thing though is the response from management if you have any issues. The showers are clean and the music is good. This gym represents incredible value.

Fantastic experience: The biggest GYM in the Northern Beaches. Fair price. Lot of machines, don't have to wait in the queue like other gyms to work out. Member since 2018.

Positive experience: Love the gym but....they say they have free wifi but it never works and tell everyone it's getting fixed. I've been here two years now and still not fixed. As a result, I'll drop my five stars to four then remove one star every year until they do. Which will come first I wonder, the one star or wifi getting fixed?

Negative experience: Multiple times I've tried to go to the gym early in the morning on the weekend and it has not been open. This is very frustrating as the opening hours say 7am for Saturday and Sunday.
Fantastic experience: I've gone to many gym and Crunch is the best one so far. Everyone is very friendly, the equipment are well taken care of, big studio, comfortable changing and shower room, very nice environment to exercise in, and also very affordable. The manager, Sean Jafari, helped me thru the long process of upgrading my membership. He was super patient and did all he could to help me. Very easy to work with, and he made sure I get all the best benefits. Best customer service I've got. Thank you!

Negative experience: No updates on either their website or Google to advise customers they close early. Management really need to get their act together if they want to retain their customers. Not worth the money we spend on gym fees. If you don’t like being blind sided don’t bother signing up with crunch Dee Why.
Negative experience: i have been going for a year now and on numerous occasions there has been no staff too open up early morning! never had an issue before this! as the equipment is great and toilets and amenties are more than antiquate!

I want to thank the manger for his really good service and how he convinced me to start the gym and I swear I am loving it and I can’t thank him enough for the support he provided me and also Staff are really friendly and it’s really nice place to crunch.

Negative experience: Do yourself a favor and STAY AWYA FROM THIS BUSSINESS. After being a victim of theft and fraud a few weeks ago. Because a gym member stole money and my card from my wallet that was in the locker. I found out that I have been charged for a membership that I asked to be changed and paid $50 dollars to change in March. The manager did not do anything to help me after a woman, member of the gym stole money and my card and he actually tried to blame me. I was paying the peak membership and in March I asked to change to the base membership I paid the amount of $50 dollars for the new blue card and this week I found out that they did not change the membership and that I have been charged for the peak membership since then. Your staff and manager CHARGED ME for the blue card and keep charging me for a membership that I asked for and paid to change. They are unprofessional and totally disrespectful and, as you can see in the other comments, they keep charging people who canceled the membership ..

Negative experience: Bull shit… Always hidden price. I have canceled membership 2 month ago than they send me email after 2 month regarding outstanding fees. As their staff members told me it was canceled. Who’s fault?
Negative experience: Do yourself a favour and stay away from this business !! I lived in 5 different country but I rarely come across such a shady business ! Hidden fee everywhere , they sign you in at no fee and after 2 months in August they ask less or more 70$ for annual fee , how can be possible you just sign me in no fee and now you ask annual fee !! Fee for payment rejection of 7$ , are you serious , without explanation of the rejection! I have complained about my towel been stolen and the girl at desk answered me : well now you have to buy a towel is 5$ . Listen I could go on and on for hours about their unprofessional and dodgy service and many bad experience but il summit up in only one sentence : take your money and time where you will be appreciate it and rewarded . I end my contract and I’m so happy elsewhere !

Negative experience: I have been a member for about 3 years now. The gym is great value and members are respectful, kind and great people. Equipment is everywhere and classes are awesome fun. The only negative has always been the staff and hidden fees. Please do carefully read contracts. Crunch loves to suck you dry. It has only been since 2020 that the staff have been poor. They treat the place like a joke. Always on their phone at reception, no hello or goodbye. Very entitled and rude, most members know what I mean, most members say it. They think they are always right, never willing to help their members, more like throw them under the bus. What needs to change is the culture within the staffing group. Entitled 20-year-old brats. Not everyone of course, some staff are fantastic, and they know who they are, but most are very entitled, and I do not even know why they work in customer service/sales, go clean the bowling alley at Dee Why, you won't have to talk to anyone there.
Negative experience: Terrible front staff. For a gym constantly looking for members they sure don’t make it easy to try the gym. Rude front desk girl who wasn’t at all transparent. She shouldn’t at all be customer facing. Really frustrating experience that won’t end in another membership.
Positive experience: Love Crunch DY. My only issue is on monday nights when everyone is in there feeling guilty after indulging all weekend!

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Heaps of classes with brilliant trainers. Friendly courteous staff. Clean, excellent changerooms. Love the massage beds. Great prices. Best thing about this gym is that all ages ,all shapes made to feel welcome. The atmosphere is friendly, non judgemental , non discriminatory. There is something for everyone at this gym. Love it.

Negative experience: Customer Service is the worst I have experienced. They took money out of my account without authorisation and never refunded it. I tried to resolve the issue but they don't call back and don't answer my emails. The gym manager seems to be incapable of finding someone to fix the massage chair for at least a year.

Negative experience: Do not like mums with kids!! Went in today to have a brief look before signing myself and husband up as we had heard such fantastic things and wanted to take advantage of the sign up sale. I asked the 2 staff members if I could just stick my head in and look at the equipment telling them I would carry my 2 year old son. Your staff just looked at each other as this was clearly a issue! I asked them if my son was the issue and they didn't answer just looking at each other again... I asked again if I could look... the staff clearly had a issue with my son so I left. I understand the gym has no crèche but how very unfriendly and unwelcoming.
Negative experience: Went for a free trial day and I was surprised how small the place was and how outdated all the machines were. (Not to mention no welcoming attitude or even a smile from the young girl at the front desk when I arrived) I went to Next Gen 10 years ago and that gym was so much better in every way, I can't even compare...see THAT was a real great gym experience and this place is just plain s@#$. I like my bikes and all you have in front of you whilst on one are ppl doing weights, literally 2 meters in front. So if you like looking at bums trying to bulk up during your workout this is a place for you. Did not get a good vibe there at all and the changing room is too small. I guess it's cheap but cheap is what you get here. I'd rather go to different gym, especially after reading some of your other reviews! C ya!
Negative experience: Pretty much a scam when it comes to charging you things. Also incredibly rude and disrespectful staff. I requested to put my membership on freeze when last COVID lockdown happened and I got a reply (3 months after) stating that my membership was put on freeze, and if I changed my mind I should contact them to reactivate the membership. Without any other form of communication, I received an email in December that I owed the gym $100. I went there and tried to clear the misunderstanding but the staff were super rude and said that if I wanted to cancel, I needed to pay the balance, otherwise the balance would keep going up. I tried explaining that I had this email confirming my membership was on freeze until I requested otherwise, and also that they didn't have any costs with me because I didn't go to the gym, so why not reset balance and stop the freeze that day. They were not interested in finding a solution and just sent me off. I tried contacting them numerous times to sort this out, tried Fair Trading with no luck, and now I am heading into court. All I kept getting were emails saying my balance is increasing, so I am stuck in this situation in which now I can't cancel unless I pay $200, and the longer I wait, more money I owe. It's almost unbelievable to think this is happening, because it's such a BAD business strategy trying to fight this. It was their fault for the miscommunication, I didn't incur any costs because I didn't use the gym, but they have zero interest in resolving this in a fair manner. Go find other gym because this one is a legit scam. I should have known right when I signed up on their "Last Day deal of 75% membership off", and the next day when I went to the gym there was a new deal saying "No Signup Fees".

Negative experience: Terrible service! I receieve an email from them about an overdue amount. I respond asking how to update my payment. I get no response. The next time i hear from them is months later and the overdue amount is now 10 times what it was before. I respond to email again asking to cancel and waive charges as i never received a response from them. They continue to send me emails increasing owed amount and ignore my emails. Even when calling them they tell me there's nothing they can do and i Have to pay. What a joke!
Negative experience: I always thought the prices were amazing here. However, don't be fooled by the price guys they have no flexibility whatsoever. I wanted to hold my membership for a while, which I could not as I pay in a fort nite basis and not an annual basis. I thought every other gym gives us that option. Also, always had bad unprofessional staffs. Very rude always, I didn't mind about that at all as I was there to workout. But honestly, always packed and rude staffs to deal with. Sometimes equipments aren't in the best condition. Just giving a heads up, as I thought this was an an economic option. But it's not always about buying cheap but buying smart.
Positive experience: Only downside is opening hours, otherwise great ambience and service!
