Fantastic experience: Great gym, really enjoyed my time here, good range of equipment and large enough that there’s almost always room to get what you want done. But Sienna and Ryan are really the goats. Moved interstate and accidentally had my membership cancelled and they helped sort it out for me even though I am no longer their problem. Many thanks
Negative experience: Apparent incompetence and total lack of care about their members. There have been a number of instances of no body wash it shampoo in some or all of the showers. As part of a feedback they asked for I gave feedback about this again a couple of weeks ago. The manager Dylan responded assuring me that the dispensers would be filled every night. 2 days ago the dispensers in some of the showers were empty and I replied letting the manager know. Today there was no body wash or shampoo in any shower. People were unsuccessfully going shower hopping mid shower to try to find some. The staff on the front desk said they know there a problem and there is a plan to have these filled next week. Where is the care? People have to go to work or other places after a workout and expect they should be able to wash after a workout. It would only take 10 minutes for someone to pop up to Coles and buy some. Or alternatively tell members that you're not providing this service so that they can bring their own. And let people know before their workout. Where is some basic care for your members?

Positive experience: Good gym, now more accessible with the new metro station. Friendly staff. But more than a few lockers in the male change room need fixing asap as they don't work. Not good that people have to try lockers to know which one works. Fitness First seems reluctant generally to fix broken lockers (i.e the one in Pitt Street Platinum is especially bad though shared the Hilton hotel building). Customers should be compensated for this continued neglect.

Negative experience: Looking at the reviews looks like I’m not the only one with unauthorized charges after canceling my membership! When I signed up, I specifically asked to be on a month to month plan so I could try out the gym before committing and still be able to leave freely if I wanted to. After I cancelled I was still charged for 4 payments, which they say it’s “30 day notice”, which doesn’t make sense on the type of plan I was. On top of that, they still charge you a “administration fee” of $8 every quarter, something that wasn’t explicitly communicated as well. Lots of hidden fees and the gym space is always very dirty. Totally not worth it

Despite numerous assurances of cancellation and refunds from their team, I continue to face unauthorized charges and a complete disregard for my requests. Here's a detailed account of the issues: Unfulfilled Promises: I've been repeatedly told by various staff that my membership cancellation was processed and that I would receive a refund. Yet, the charges have not ceased. Lack of Management Intervention: Every attempt to escalate the issue is met with excuses about the manager being unavailable or in meetings. My serious concerns have been mocked and dismissed by the staff. Harassing Communications: Despite confirming my membership cancellation, I still receive emails demanding payments and threatening continued charges. Misleading and Ineffective Customer Service: After months of back-and-forth, today I was informed that my account had never actually been cancelled, and they now expect me to pay for even more than the regular 30 days. This is despite their previous confirmations of my membership exit. I am now compelled to take this issue to Fair Work to seek a resolution, as Fitness First ST. Leonards has shown a complete lack of professionalism and ethics in handling this matter. I urge anyone considering joining Fitness First to think twice. They have shown a blatant disregard for customer service and integrity.

Negative experience: I was very disappointed after visiting this gym. It was stuffy and dirty at cardio area that I couldn’t breathe normally. The carpet on the floor is stinky and needs to be changed! It seems this gym has no normal ventilation and fresh air never comes inside. Air conditioning is not enough and it’s probably old. The equipment is also very old. There were not enough machines for me. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Is that a Platinum gym? No way I will come there again before something is changed. Sorry.

Negative experience: Hygiene is a real issue, I pick up hairballs every class (gross),toilets are constantly wet. The cleaners DO NOT do their job well. Classes are diminishing and good instructors leaving in droves generally from the franchise and yet my fees go up!
Fantastic experience: Really nice club, the team are friendly and attentive, equipment well maintained. The gym itself is spacious and comfortable, especially this hot summer! Members too, are generally courteous and considerate. There is a good community feel about the place with a diverse mix of people.
Negative experience: Disappointed with equipment condition. I’ve really enjoyed the range of equipment at fitness first St Leonard’s but was really really disappointed by how few bikes actually work as they’re supposed to in the cardio area. Screens don’t turn on, seats and pieces don’t stay in place when using them and many of them are missing foot straps. I would’ve thought given the amount I pay a week a platinum gym wouldn't have this many defective pieces of equipment. On Feb 15th there were only 2 bikes that weren’t in the spin room that actually worked and one didn’t even have a screen. Starting to look elsewhere for a better gym offering.
Negative experience: No parking - restricted to 1.5hrs free or paid parking. Dirty & dark with old, broken equipment Closes far too early on weekends (7pm) - this is when most people have time to go to gym!
Fantastic experience: First timer, personally I’ve been to many gyms rather than FF, this one is HUGE! Easy parking and front of the house staff was really friendly, and he even remembered to greet me on my way out. Group class fills up very quickly and the energy level is one of the highest I’ve encountered amongst a number of FF gyms.
Positive experience: Excellent range of equipment, spaced out well, nice having the option of the pool as well. Good vibe throughout, most people in the gym are respectful, will share equipment etc. Only ding is the shower facilities feeling run down and the cheap toiletries. I don't interact with the staff much but they are generally friendly.

Negative experience: This gym is disgusting. Old equipment, dingy, dark, mouldy and dusty. The mould and dust has been there so long I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s formed its own civilisation. Very unsafe if you are sensitive to mould or dust or have respiratory issues. There is also NO AIRCON. Yes you read this right. Just human sweat that provides heating at 37 degrees. Management need to wake up from their slumber and do their job. Needs a complete deep clean and revamp. One guy in weights area (short, red hair, pasty) grunts loudly almost as if he is trying to announce to whole gym he’s lifting 20kgs. But his muscles are still so small. He should buy a better pre-workout or reduce his weights.

Negative experience: If you're a woman, stay away. I got abused in the weights area by some guy who didn't like my face or attitude or that women are allowed out in public and can work now and own property or something, but it was a weekend and the gym was so understaffed there wasn't anyone around to help me. I reported it to the front desk. They did nothing and I left. I was really shaken up. I reported it via the "contact us" link on the website and said I didn't want to come back to the gym because I didn't feel safe. They basically said "too bad" and kept charging me. They honestly don't care if youre threatened or intimidated. Find somewhere more inclusive.
Fantastic experience: Have been a member at FF St Leonards since 2006. Since my retirement, I have been able to visit my local gym more often. The reception team is well trained to be friendly and helpful, acknowledging clients with a friendly greeting. My favourite part of FF is attending group classes in the morning. These include zumba, active adults, pilates and body balance. I miss yoga because of the timing. I am looking forward to joining Les Mills shapes on Friday morning. Negative experience: Don't waste your money
Negative experience: Please fix the air conditioning It’s just dangerous. People are leaving the classes because it’s just too hot. Migraine and nose bleeds are a common sighting now! Train your staff in basic first aid as they had no idea how to deal with a basic medical emergency. Fix your cardio equipment like the treadmills They are not calibrated and don’t reach the speeds they are supposed to reach( or get new ones), they have been like this for at least two years now. And please vacuum as we get so much hair balls on the floor it’s disgusting.

Negative experience: Stopped swimming after cooking in 30 degree heat, causing massive migraines and dehydration. Wearing a cap also. 25.5 to 27 degrees Celcius is the recommendation for lap swimming as real swimmers and other facilitiesare well aware. 30 degrees is asking for a stroke. After 4 laps i feel overheating and ill. Many of us have given this feedback, but were told it's for the babies to swim in!!! There are toddler pools everywhere for this. My membership is therefore void. I have to drive to other fitness facilities to swim, such as Lane cove, and PCYC West Pymble. 'Fitness Second', not 'First'. 'Babies First'! lol.
Negative experience: -dirty, unhygenic gym with mould all over the ceilings and bathrooms -personal trainers/staff would joke around and throw weights around and roll plates across the floor with no care about safety -free parking amount is horrible (90 minutes) and you will have to drive down to the bottom floor of the parking compound -there are much better and cleaner gyms that cost much less
Negative experience: Dated gym with Stone Age equipment. Very dark and dingy with a lack of natural light which feels v depressing. Needs a facelift. Definitely does not qualify as a “Platinum” gym. Other areas of improvement: 1. Broken equipment, missing equipment and broken lockers - has not been fixed for the 6m I’ve been there. 2. Disproportionate no. of Stepmaster machines (2) to treadmills (15+ incl. broken ones). 3. There is one guy (5’7” Ginger) who screams like he’s giving birth every time he lifts (unimpressive) weights. Really disturbing and I have to pause my workout when he’s screaming as it’s so disruptive and uncomfortable. Have some self awareness and respect! 4. Guys clustering around you like flies in the weights section which is both unsafe and uncomfortable. When there is so much space why not spread out? This is not a club. 5. Couples at the gym / on a date. Please date somewhere else if you are doing more flirting than working out. Surely you can be independent enough to spend some time apart or allow your partner to workout on their own? 6. Bathrooms are disgusting with irregular cleaning and toilet paper everywhere. Floors are wet which is a safety hazard.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this gym. Swim school members are very kind and caring. Also reception staff in the afternoons are very chill. Gym floor is also very spacious and there is lots of equipment 10/10

Negative experience: Back in a year, this place was one of competitive gyms around and had much to say, but now, it’s just waste of money, machines are not clean, or broken. This place does not have a good A/C, you can see mould and dirts on cardio machines, plus AC is not working good there too. It lacks a few main machines. It’s been like this for a year and Fitness First is doing nothing! I have switched to Mosman and Willoughby and the same happened there, like last night, I was almost about to leave because of AC at Willoughby!! Hopefully, Fitness First spend some money on renovations and upgrading with new machines as other competitors are doing the same with cheaper membership, like Club Lime! What Fitness First is claiming as Premium, it’s not even basic compare to new clubs and rebrand gym like Plus Fitness! I am personally thinking of cancelling my membership and stopping wasting of my money on this, unless see changes! I tried to speak up and share all these with club managers and associates, but I don’t think they have any authority to make changes!!

Steam room basically never working with reception not having a clue when it will be up and running again. For the money may as well go to a more plus fitness or anytime

Fantastic experience: Staff were extremely attentive. I had a tour around the buildings and the equipment was clean and well organised. The eclectic selection made me excited to begin working out here. I had one of the staff personally attend to me regarding payment plans. They have a nice discount at the end of each month. The pool was closed temporarily, however it is included in a membership with them. My tour was during rush hour and I had a good idea as to how busy it got. It has a perfect community but is not too busy where you need to be waiting for equipment.
Negative experience: The PT’s at St Leonard’s FF are pathetic. I line up each morning before the gym opens at 6am. I wait outside just to be able to get here early so I can use the equipment I need. I am one of the first people inside and two PT’s are always holding onto certain equipment for their clients so I can’t use it. I have to change my workout because of them. It’s fine, it is what it is, but they don’t even offer to let me have it for 2 sets. Meanwhile their client is still not through the door at 6.10. I let it go a few times but after seeing that their clients are late and the PT’s hog the machines it’s ridiculous. I pay to use the machines I would like, I wait in line early to get in early, there’s no care in the world by these sad kids. Pathetic PT’s. Every FF I have been to - Hornsby, north Sydney, Carlingford and castle hill FF are not like this. Worst gym I’ve been to.
Positive experience: I’ve been a member here since 2013. The St Leonard’s gym used to be excellent and clean however the showers and steam room are noticeably dirty in the last 6 months. The floors are slippery in both steam room and showers. You can visibly see build up of grime in shower stalls. You definitely need to wear things in these areas to avoid slipping, as well as to avoid germs. There’s also a lot less classes across FF gyms, even after COVID. It’s not as bad at St Leonard’s but still disappointing that Freestyle classes are totally gone now.

Fantastic experience: For a gym in the north shore, it has everything you need and most staff are friendly and helpful. I always see friendly receptionists talking to customers like mates and that’s a vibe. The equipments are all in good condition and there’s enough space for everything. I just wish there was better parking in the st Leonards area… Recommend this gym overall
Negative experience: Been trying to get hold of the so called swim school manager for over a month with multiple emails, leaving my number to the front desk for call back and even a few visits. A few lazy unenthusiastic email replies here and there, with little to no progress. Apparently I wasn’t the only one struggling to get a response from this individual.
Negative experience: UPDATE: in addition to the below (all of which continue to be an issue) the women’s steam room has now been broken for over 6 months. After repeatedly asking staff what the issue was and when it would be fixed, I finally emailed the manager and received a response effectively fobbing me off by suggesting I use the steam room at Willoughby instead and implying they don’t have approval to spend money on repairing the steam room. So members are paying for use of a facility that’s not available and FF is happy to collect our fees but not to spend money on basic repairs and upkeep of amenities. Pathetic. And this is supposed to be a “Platinum” gym too! If you’re thinking about joining mostly or partly to use the pool, please read this first. The pool is almost always crawling with loud out of control kids and parents. They have swim school pretty much every weekday afternoon, and weekend mornings, and also additional “family swim time” in which kids and their parents are allowed in for several hours on both weekdays and weekends. There are signs up asking people to control and supervise their kids, but this does not happen and staff/management so do nothing to enforce it. Among the things I’ve seen in the ~6 months I have been a member: Kids running round the changing rooms unsupervised screaming, kids playing in the women’s steam room, unsupervised kids swimming in the pool, kids splashing, shouting and throwing toys into lanes being used by other swimmers. These issues are not only a nuisance but create safety concerns. I’ve never once seen staff proactively address any of the above. When I pointed out to a staff member that there was an unsupervised kid swimming in the pool with the parent nowhere in sight, he only very grudgingly got up to go and investigate. More annoyingly, the set “family swim time” policy is not adhered to at all, so even if you deliberately plan to come outside that time you cannot count on peace and quiet. People with kids seem to come in any time they feel like on weekends, taking up whole lanes so other swimmers are more crowded at a time when the pool is already busy, and creating noise and disruption. This happens pretty much every single weekend. Despite what they claim, staff absolutely know that all this is happening, these people come right past reception to enter the pool and reception also has a monitor showing a live camera feed of the pool, they simply do not care. When I have politely pointed the issue out, more than one staff member has point blank told me they refuse to enforce their own policy and ask people with kids to leave. This isn’t just 15 mins either side of the allocated time either, it’s an hour or more outside the permitted time. Since I expect to get the stock standard generic response of “please contact us to provide further details” I’ve raised this numerous times with reception staff and also left a written feedback form for management explicitly ticking that I would like them to contact me, and there has been no response or change in the situation. If they want to change their policy to state that kids are now welcome at all times, then they should do so explicitly, in which case I’m sure I am not the only member who would then cancel my membership. But refusing to enforce their own stated rules and putting the onus on members to either grin and bear it or repeatedly ask staff to do their jobs is a terrible and dishonest way to operate. Many/most people come to the gym for some “me time”, not to listen to shrieking/whining kids.
Positive experience: Been a member for several months and I’ve gotta say the place is just average. It’s lacking in a lot of strength equipment for how many people there are at busier times. And existing equipment is pretty worse for wear. I think the only thing that makes it “platinum” is the pool which I don’t really care about. Staff are pretty nice though.
Positive experience: Good gym. Spacious and staff is friendly. The pool is a ++ WiFi rarely works though Group classes are good.

Positive experience: Decent gym - but the worst gym etiquette by members and no rules enforced by staff. Weights are never removed from machines and the dumbell rack is a mess, could be easily rectified if staff enforce better etiquette and will make it a more pleasurable experience for members.
Negative experience: 2023; playing music at high volume seems obsolete and unhealthy. Mayority takes their own music. No internet conection available apart from the reception area where is not meant to exercise. Machines out of order never have a sign. Early goers might not find supplies in bathroom as there is no staff to stock it (how about doing it previuos night?). Other branches make more efforts to stand out from the ordinary and be Platinum.
Fantastic experience: My wife and I are from Adelaide and recently spent four weeks house sitting for our friends in Lane Cove and wanted to find a gym in the area to keep our fitness up. Well we found one!!! How lucky we were to be able to take advantage of a special deal at Fitness First Platinum St Leonards. $19.95 each for a month suited us perfectly. We were welcomed with smiling, friendly staff who showed us around and registered us as casual members. A special mention must go out to Harry who has made us feel so welcome. His friendly manner and happy greetings are an asset to the gym and he should be commended. The gym itself is well equiped with a variety of equipment but can be quite busy at times. It must be popular!! We would highly recommend this gym if you live in the area or are visiting like us.
Negative experience: Went to this gym as a first time user on Sunday morning - presented myself to reception and advised them it was my first visit. Receptionist had no interest, without even looking at me just said “everything is upstairs” and waved me on. I had to ask where bathrooms and lockers were as she didn’t even find the care to tell me this. No support or instruction was offered when I realised the lockers cannot be activated with a fitness passport card, so I had to leave my belongings unsecured and hope that no one would take them. I will not be returning and I suggest you look elsewhere if you are looking for a supportive workout environment
Fantastic experience: Fitness First St Leonards is an excellent gym with great facilities, plenty of equipment and spaces to train plus being well maintained and kept to very high cleanliness & hygiene standards. Well done Team!
Negative experience: Steam room always out of action. Always takes from 6 months to fix it Why doesn't Willoughby or Neutral Bay have this issue?
Positive experience: Yes it's a bit expensive compared to other Gym companies but at least in St Leonard's it's the only option where you can get both gyn and swimming pool together. For me swimming is a big priority. The gym area is quite big and enough equipment is available but not all of them. Only problem I saw is the maintenance. I wasn't able to use the steam room for more than two months. Drinking water fountains don't work in some places. If you follow up with them they will only say they will fix them, but you don't know when. And of course you can get good deal if you are going with long contacts.
Negative experience: In the past two years, I emailed several times for cancelling my membership card because I went back to China in October 2020. But the cancel failed. I have to be deducted every two weeks. In September 2022, I went back to Sydney, and I called St Leonards' shop phone twice for cancelling my membership card. I was told it has been cancelled, but it was still deducted from my bank automatically. Could you please help me solve the issue Immediately?
Negative experience: This is my second year at the club. I have noticed a big drop off in quality compared to last year - my main observation is they have cancelled their circuit classes during lunch times. Also their facility maintenance and cleaning has declined to the point where the mens steam room roof and collapsed, the main floor has holes and when working out clumps of hair is blown into my face when lying face down doing yoga. The bathrooms aren’t much better with lockers and wet areas noticeably dirty.
Positive experience: More wear and tear than most FF Platinums I've visited. A few machine omissions that surprised me: No Pec Deck, No cable lateral row seated (they do have a similar machine). Pool looks OK, but I've not used it.
Negative experience: Service from Fitness First Swim Club is awful. My son's swimming lesson was moved by Fitness First from Wednesday to Sunday because they are closing the pool for maintenance. My son missed Sunday's class because he had asthma on Saturday night. We were asking for his make up class to be rebooked but the manager refused to, sighting that per policy, we need to give medical certificate if the reason is illness. I asked for the copy of terms and conditions and it is state there verbatim "If a student is sick we encourage a medical certificate when possible." - meaning, med cert is not mandatory, but the manager refused to book us my son's swimming lesson. One thing to point, this is my son's first make up class for this term and for this year. Furthermore, in the terms and condition as well, you are discouraged from attending class if you are suffering from "A cold.". I told the manager, she's being unreasonable and she said, she's not and she won't budge because she says, she'll stick to her terms and condition. We are moving to a different swim school after being with Fitness First for years. Another swim school has confirmed already that we are welcome to book a make up class if we miss the lesson for any reason.
Positive experience: Nice gym with a decent layout but quite hot. Don’t usually sweat at other FF but I did at this gym.

Negative experience: This Fitness First is debiting my account without my permission. I have cancelled my membership following their process but they are not following their own process. Instead that want to try to confuse the issue to steal money for no service provided.
Negative experience: Joined with my partner. We both really tried to like it since it’s so close to us and gives us options to go to other sites. Class times didn’t suit my partner especially since there wasn’t many night time ones for her. I was there mainly for the weights but I felt it was pretty run down but my pet peeve are people not putting away their weights away or using towels. Haven’t trained properly in 1.5 years and last thing I want to do is unrack someone’s plates so I can use the equipment. Both of us decided to just cancel the membership within the 7 day cool off period. Got offered the better promotion at the time but declined anyway.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym , well Maintained , good group exercises, lots of space and a nice swimming pool and friendly staff , highly recommend it
Positive experience: Good location, decent layout but so-so equipment and maintenance. Known to have good PTs but the maintenance for a platinum fitness First centre is a bit sad. Place is a bit run down, air con is ridiculously weak and machines as are often out of order
Negative experience: Pathetic service! They keep chasing you every 5 minutes to get you registered. And post that they simply don’t care. Even to get a working access card is too much hassle - from staff being unavailable at a time they committed beforehand… to.. machine not working… to.. come back the next day to get things working… they just seem to have no interest in customers having a good experience. Someone called Jack keeps promising and constantly under delivers.
Positive experience: Good facilities overall, staff are nice, can be a mission to get parking. Much prefer the other fitness first locations. Rockdale is much better. Don’t pay extra for platinum, overhyped.
Positive experience: Always find this gym is a bit too small for the number of people using it in the morning and equipment is limited. Otherwise good gym and not full of posers

Negative experience: I don’t quite know how to review this. I started my free trial last week, and I like the gym and the equipment. The staff seem very nice too. The gym has plenty of squat racks and pull up bars everywhere and it’s also awesome that it has a pool. How ever yesterday (my 3rd session trying out the gym) I caught a man digging through my bag in the locker room. Literally was both forearms deep into my bag. It was obvious that he was being opportunistic and trying to steal anything that he could find from my bag, unluckily for him I didn’t have anything worth stealing in my bag so from what it looks like he didn’t take anything. I did report it to reception but I am not sure what will come of it. So, the gym is nice, but please don’t leave your bag unattended. It’s quite horrible that this is the first impression I have of the gym, because as I said, it’s actually quite nice.
Negative experience: There is a whole lot of mould or air conditioning duct in about 1 1/2 metres above people's heads. I mention this a while ago and was told by the manager that it would be fixed but it never did they never bothered to clean it. Clearly mould because you can see by the way it's growing in little circles. So what does that tell you about the rest of the air conditioning system particularly inside the ducting. Mould everywhere clearly. They need to actually clean the whole system inside and out. Update the mould is still there and has not been removed months later. The staff are friendly enough but I guess the management structure does not want to spend the money to clean the building.
Fantastic experience: Great space. Clean with plenty of cleaning options to hand. . No broken equipment and plenty of availability. Jono and team on the front desk always welcoming. Best gym ever
Fantastic experience: By far the best Fitness First I’ve been to on the lower north shore. A great layout, plenty of space to move about, and clean with friendly staff. Even though I’ve moved further away this is still my preferred club.
Negative experience: Rubbish videos as always and as loud as possible that I can’t even listen to anything with my earpods.

Negative experience: I use Fitness First because it's convenient and I want to point out that there is room to improve communication. 1. I tried to reset my password and I got an email with a link that took me a page without any menu/button; 2. I called the 1300 number. Waiting time was long and it didn't provide an estimated waiting time. I managed to speak to a person after selecting option 2 (for cancellation) and freeze the membership but was disappointed with the staff and system. He wasn't prepared to listen to the issues I had with the website and having to select membership cancellation to talk to a staff member. I asked him to transfer my call to his manager, he said that 'no one can help you, even my manager'. I am hoping that management team of the company don't agree with him.
Negative experience: I find it very frustrating having to come 30 mins earlier so that you can get a token to join the class. Unfortunately I didnt have flexible hours at work and couldn't leave work 40 mins earlier to attend the class. Today I came 20 mins prior the class and all the tokens were already gone. It is ridiculous. A lot of people have asked FF to reinstate the online booking system and it's just been ignored.
Fantastic experience: FF St Leonards is hands down the best gym I've ever been to. Their attention to cleaning is second to none and I love their group fitness classes. Special shout out to Ben and Ash who have always gone above and beyond to make me feel welcomed as a member :)
Fantastic experience: I started doing the yoga class after work, it’s amazing how all the stress vanishes. ❤️ Whenever I do the RPM class, I feel as if I have never done a cardio. Amazing class to push your cardio fitness. The body pump group fitness class full a quick full body fun workout Love the atmosphere in this gym. Pumps me enough to do that extra mile..!
Fantastic experience: Have been at this fitness first for a year now and have loved the amount of space and availability of the equipment as well as classes etc. Am also a client of Christian helping me keep on track since I started. The rest of the team there are also super friendly and encouraging everyday I walk in. Clean and well kept equipment.
