Fantastic experience: excellent experience with super smooth service

Fantastic experience: I was a member at one of the other Genesis gyms in south of Melb. When I moved I debated about which gym to join in the west as I wanted it easy to get to, a good clean non intimidating, well run gym with access to BFT type coaching (I’ve been a member there too but it became too costly) and reformer pilates. I was surprised this gym had low ratings but decided to keep my membership for a while and give it a go. And I’m not disappointed. It is all that and more. Management made everything super easy for me to transition and have been kind and caring in their follow up. The coaches, literally every one of them, are professional, fun, friendly and knowledgeable. I love the coaching zone. It’s no BFT, that’s just the truth, but it’s a great alternative. It definitely does the job. The reformer Pilates, although hard to get into, you pretty much get in most of the time, is awesome. Great job team. Thanks for making me feel so welcome.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff

Negative experience: The salesperson I dealt with was annoying and very pushy. I ended up signing up because he mentioned that if I go on the Open Term I can cancel at anytime, he failed to mention that there was a special condition of 30day cancellation policy. He quickly rushed me during the signing up and induction process. Staff are so quick to contact you if it's in their own interest, however as soon as I signed up, not a single word or follow up from anyone. I sent an email seeing if some of the facilities could open earlier... a month later still no contact about it. This gym isn't the right fit for me personally, the customer service I would say is poor. The facilities itself are good. The only thing I will miss is Ariel and RPM Classes.

Fantastic experience: Great equipment and friendly staff

Negative experience: Avoid this company as they use Debit Success who won't cancel contracts (despite advice from Genesis to cancel) and relentlessly chase payments on invalid agreements. Unethical, predatory, and unhelpful—save yourself the trouble.

Positive experience: Good-sized gym with sufficient equipment for a decent workout. Recommended if you're a morning person looking to train in peace and quiet, without distractions or the usual commotion found at other, more popular places. Cleaned religiously and club manager very approachable, open to feedback on improving customer's experience. Only negatives during my time here were cleaners invading personal space on the floor and the rather low temperatures felt in the winter mornings (owing to dearth of heating).

Positive experience: great gym, heaps of good equipment you don’t find on most other gyms, however it is often unmanned, and more times than not they must shut off the cooling units the night before it goes unmanned (probably energy costs), and the members who attend the day after have to go without airconditioning, today was probably the worst. great gym but it has it’s times.

Negative experience: Sales locks you into a contract and does let you end it over a text and extremely pushy with the sign up. Once the sign up is done no comms whatsoever. Got ripped off for 150 bucks for signing a contract I didnt want.

Fantastic experience: Been a Genesis member for a couple of years now and couldn't consider going anywhere else. Great team of people who run the Coaching Zone and really help you get the best out of your fitness whilst having fun (as much as you can when working up a sweat!). Frequent challenges, friendly and non-judgmental ensure that all levels of fitness are welcome to come and have fun. Smashing goals!

Negative experience: They advertised a free trial here, and I wanted to cancel it but they couldn't do it because I had to give them a 30 day notice (which literally isn't possible for me because the free trial was for 14 days.) So i basically have no choice but to pay them even though it was advertised free.

Positive experience: I have just moved from the other side of town, from Genesis at Caulfield. I came into Genesis Maidstone today (my second visit) and today I brought a friend with me who has also recently moved and is looking for a local gym to join. I scanned in, but no one was at the front desk, then someone emerged from an office and I explained I was using a guest pass for my friend. He told me my friend would have to pay the $20 casual visit rate - I explained that I had guest passes and he said they didn’t do that at their gym. He begrudgingly offered it for $10 and then maybe it occurred to him that my friend might be interested in joining and so got her to fill in a her details for a visit pass. I felt so embarrassed that I had offered for my friend to come in and then to be greeted this way - so disappointing. Positive- I like the Women Only workout section, and the sauna is a nice addition.

Negative experience: Worst customer service

Negative experience: Very rude staff and very unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: Coaches are fantastic and take into account people with injuries so they get a full workout as others. Loads of nutrition info avail also tailored to your needs. Highly recommended for everybody who wants to get fit both mentally and physically. I am a totally new person since coaching zone!!!

Negative experience: So I couldn't have the five days pass trial because I was a genesis member before( Bundoora one). And I wasn't able to try their gym equipment as well unless I sign up with them? Maybe I shouldn't had revealed I was a member before? Worse gym trial experience. How can I sign up without trying any machine there?

Negative experience: Heads up ! Don’t sign up with them unless you read and understand all the boogie traps within their contract because they don’t tell you any information about their cancellation or suspension policies during signing up. Also their third party debit collection company is also another scam charging you double the amount if the direct debit doesn’t go through in the 1st try. Additionally I couldn’t pause my membership when i had an injury and they want me to pay the full amount if i want to cancel the membership.

Negative experience: I went in to try out the gym after my friend signed up. I was misinformed about the contract and pressured into signing up. When I wanted to cancel, they made me pay an extra month ($200) and harassed me by spam calling me everyday 6 times a day.

Fantastic experience: We tried a few gyms in the area before sticking with genesis. Big gym with all the cardio and weights equipment you need and never too busy. Also has a fully kitted out ladies section which is great. The classes I've tried have been good and never too busy. Definitely recommend as the best gym in the area

They also have a a nice area for small group personal training sessions which I enjoy doing because the head coach is amazing. Would recommend their Coaching Zone sessions to everyone who’s on the fence and not too sure if it’s a right suit for them.

Positive experience: I've been hitting the gym daily for the past two weeks, but I've got to be honest – the vibe isn't quite clicking with me. I've already paid for the membership, so I'm sticking with it for now. It's a decently sized gym with a variety of equipment, and the facilities are alright. However, the layout on the second floor is a bit of a challenge, especially those steep stairs – feels like a pre-workout before the actual workout. Yeah, there's a lift, but I've become oddly fond of the stairs. My main gripe is the lack of gym etiquette awareness among the members. It's like we all need a crash course before signing up. No one seems to get the concept of reracking weights. It's a mystery whether a bench or machine is in use because people just walk away, leaving their weights behind. The other day, someone loaded up the leg press with max weights, did their thing, and just disappeared. Not cool. I mean, we're all here to work out, right? And the staff doesn't seem too bothered. And Alex is busy selling memberships. Quick heads up for anyone thinking of joining – make sure to grab all the info about pauses and cancellation charges before diving in. For some reason, they're dropping these bombs on you when its that time, and it's a bit much. Anyway, just needed to vent a bit. Maybe it's just me being picky, but a bit of etiquette wouldn't hurt, you know?

Negative experience: I had worse experience with genesis maidstone. I needed to cancel my membership due to health condition and i was told to pay for 30 days and 150 dollars. On top of that, they charged me for extra weeks and 163 dollars instead of 150. I would have suspended the membership but due to their pathetic policies I decided to cancel it and never come back to this gym with fraud policies. They keep running after u until you buy their membership and then they treat their customers in an extremely unreasonable way.

Negative experience: Tried to suspend my membership because of an injury, Alex the sales guy wanted a medical certificate or would charge me $5 Really??? This is after being a member for 5 years. Very poorly handled, and really disappointed I have been going to gyms for 30 years and never have I experienced arrogance like this.I cancelled my membership just out of principle

Negative experience: Same experience with Alex. Very very pushy during sign up like he can’t take a no for an answer and calling up during the day when texts could be sent. The initial offer was changed and deviated from the original deal - only gym area and staffed hours which are vague and very arbitrary. Gym is fine though.

Fantastic experience: I shopped around before I committed to a gym, but I am so glad that I have committed to Genesis. Firstly, the facilities are amazing, always clean, always available and it is such a comfortable space to be in. Secondly, the staff are so friendly and welcoming they really have made the experience so wonderful - in particular Kylie and Luke. Thirdly, the classes, the premium membership is such good value for money with the classes you have access to and the quality of the trainers. Truly such a hidden gem in the West when it comes to gyms! p.s it has a creche- need I say more.

Fantastic experience: I really like Genesis Maidstone. The staff are super friendly & helpful, Luke & Michelle always make it a great experience, there is all the equipment to choose from, and I really appreciate the female-only workout area. The sauna is definitely my favourite feature.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars for customer service - a big thank you to the store manager Alex who went above and beyond to get my mum's accounts sorted.

Negative experience: Poor environment and when you stop the contract please triple check your account as they won’t stop to deduct your money

Negative experience: Head up Folks, When signing up at Genesis Maidstone be careful what are you looking for because the are a bit dodgy and do not tell customers all about the contract. The primary aim for the staff in Genesis is to sign you up regardless of what is best suited for you or can be more affordable. I am not very happy with them but if you make up your mind then Good luck

Negative experience: One of the worst gyms in Melbourne, please if you’re thinking off going go to Derrimut, The front desk are rude a bloke named Alex won’t stop calling and pushing you to join, almost as if you have no option, Will never go to a gym like this in my life

Fantastic experience: I joined Genesis a year ago and it’s the best gym I have ever attended, it is fully equipped and has so many classes to choose from, including coaching zone which is amazing. Everyone is so friendly such a wonderful community and have made lifelong friends. The staff are amazing and always go above and beyond to help out and give guidance, which has made it so easy for me to be consistent and stick to my health journey. Highly recommend !!

Negative experience: Signed up for the 5 day trial, turned up in my gym gear to trial & was met with a hard pressure salesman, trying to force me to join in order to try the group fitness classes. The trial pass stated that group fitness classes were included but the salesman is saying that only the gym area is included in the trial total waste of time! Such a scam to meet with you to pressure you to join. If the gym was good, they won’t need to pressure people like this, stay away.

Negative experience: I was a member here on and off for years and continually let down. Broken machines which were never repaired in the time I was there. Cancelled group fitness classes with no notice or communication - even if there was a group hanging at the door waiting, the reception would never walk up to tell you. Constant changing of class timetables and they only offered bare minimum les mills classes. The female showers were atrocious, women would come to dye their hair in there and it was always very unhygenic in the shower area. The lockers never worked either. Rude front counter staff and pushy sales. When I returned after COVID and enquired about reinstating my old price membership I was laughed at and refused. Staff member Alex handled this very poorly and all of our conversations.

Negative experience: Terrible gym with dirty and wonky equipment, and extremely unprofessional staff, easily the worst I’ve seen in the area. Definitely avoid and find a better gym.

Negative experience: A definite no go for me. I completely understand they have sales representatives for a reason. But seriously! Phone calls at 8PM at night telling me they have a deal on, only for the next two days, and I HAVE to give them a day and time that I’ll be coming in. Unbelievable! Felt completely pressured and hounded to join. I work close by, and was going come in to sign up when I could. But this has completely put me off, and I ended up signing up at another organisation. It’s a shame they are so pushy, the classes they offer looked good. If they didn’t hound me, I would’ve joined.

Fantastic experience: When my hypermobile self isn't dislocating or over extending yet another part of me, this place is my sanctuary. I've been dislocating less and less of me as time goes by, thanks to my trainer, Maria, from this gym, she even laughs at my really bad jokes, and motivates me to push harder, but not so hard that I break anything. I am only a bit annoyed that gym got rid of that back extension thing in, and that silly crunching bench, as I was at 250 in crunches a row, and 400 ib a session, and aiming for 300 crunches in a row, and now I'll never know if i could get there. Latin dancers need their abs, we get side planked mid routine on the dance floor, and if we don't have a good core that doesn't end well. Lol

Negative experience: 5 days trial is a scam. Is not a trial. Only you can use it when getting the membership. Alex, the salesman, was very push and not friendly. Not the best vibes to train there.

Positive experience: Great Gym, always clean, lovely lovely staff, crèche is amazing. All the mums attending are very friendly if your doing school hours. The Reformer Pilates room is awesome. Just need to fix the locker situation and it would be 5 star, but no hassle about keeping your bag with you if you can’t get a locker.

Negative experience: I've been a member at this gym for over 5 years but am really disappointed with their management as of late. Classes being cancelled isn't the problem but the dissemination of this information has been very poor leading to disappointment as classes are not what you expect and plan your day around to attend.

Negative experience: I was a member for 3 months and I found that there wasn’t enough machines and most of them were broken, I canceled my membership 3 months into my 12 month contract and I was told there was a $150 cancellation fee and that was fine I was made aware of that when I signed up but the girl who canceled my membership told me I just had to pay the $150 and my membership would be inactive by the end of the week. The gym took almost $200 out of my account and proceeded to tell me I had to pay for the next month of my membership and then t was still active I’m really upset because I’ve joined another gym and wasn’t made aware of the payment or that I could use the gym for another month. The manager refused me a refund.

Fantastic experience: The gym staff and trainers are really friendly and welcoming. There is a great selection of equipment as well. Great value for money especially with the variety of classes offered!

Fantastic experience: As a new member at Genesis Maidstone, I have found the staff to be extremely friendly and so easy to talk to. The gym itself is big, with plenty of space between machines. The group class rooms are spacious enough for approximately 50 people, which is awesome. I am impressed at how clean all areas are and would highly recommend you all to go in and check it out for yourselves. Oh yes and there is a large, fully equipped ladies gym for any of you lovely ladies who may be a bit shy (like me ). There is plenty of equipment which all have instruction labels, so you don't need to worry about not knowing how to use them... If unsure though just ask one of the awesome P.T.s who will be happy to help you out. I'll definitely be recommending Genesis Maidstone to my friends, why don't you too? Diane

Fantastic experience: I feel welcome and not judged, I feel comfortable doing my own awkward workout

Positive experience: Pretty Average gym who are unwilling to negotiate on Price even though Derrimut Gym down the road offers a yearly membership for $400 and what i was requesting from this gym was $9.95 per week with no lock in contract. They do offer this option but you need to be locked in for 12 months which i wasn't happy about because at that price i could save $120 per annum by going to the bigger gym close by. The gym itself has all the facilities you need however in the weights section they are missing a number of dumbells in the 1kg-10kg range. Also since i've been attending the gym i can only ever find 1 x 1.25kg weight so not sure who's hiding the other one or why they wouldn't buy more.

Negative experience: Never join this club!!!! They are extremely professionals in consuming the members/customers money every single week, in any circumstances. Moreover, at the time of joining they would provide you the terms and conditions which won't remains constant and rather changes at your membership cancellation time.The Genesis is master in charging your money every week wether you are a member or not so please!!!!! Do not get yourself stuck into their trap and chose any other fitness club instead.

Negative experience: Staff are rude and intimidating. Charged after cancelling membership. Constantly charged twice for one month. Brought a friend who was charged $40 to be there once and locked into a membership they didn't want but was told it was the only way they could work out that day. Ended up blocking their number and emails after getting called everyday asking for feedback that they don't even action. Stuck it out for a few years because of the women's only room but not worth it. They constantly remove equipment from the women's room. Started with 6 treadmills when I left there was only 2 and 1 was out of order. Would avoid at all costs honestly

Fantastic experience: After signing up Monday and picking up my fob Wednesday I started up the stairs Thursday morning for my first session. The staff were helpful and respectful and friendly when I signed up, they were up front about what to expect, the busy hours and what they have on offer. The equipment is in good to great working condition, and there is everything you need to start your journey into weight loss or fitness. There are other gyms nearby if this isn't your style but I honestly believe you won't get better value elsewhere.

Negative experience: Equipment is generally fine, staff are nice too. Whether it's this location or the company as a whole, the communication is pretty average. Submitted an enquiry on the 23rd of September for a cancellation request and heard nothing back. Contacted them early in November to enquire about it again. Apparently they've heard nothing, and then begins the 30 days notice, with payments taken weekly too. You're not really getting 30 days free in the contract too, because your contract officially starts after your first payment.

Negative experience: They have a free trial offer on their website, took up the offer with reception who were happy to help only to have Daniel harass me over the phone "why are you here, what are your intentions, where do you live". After making me feel threatened over an offer they had on their website, I'd never recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Maidstone Genesis has improved my life for the better. There’s an incredible variety of classes, especially for those without too much fitness experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and patient. The gym itself is clean and maintained well. I would recommend Maidstone Genesis to anyone who is within the area.
