While our facility has many positive attributes, including a friendly staff, excellent equipment quality, and a variety of group classes, recent feedback from our members has highlighted some areas for improvement.

Negative experience: Terrible, terrible. Old equipments, dirty place, super loud music and we pay for the owner to get richer not for better equipment or clean space. Probably the worst of them all. How can Australia have such poor choices in terms of gym facilities? When we complain they offer lame excuses over and over again and nothing is done. Just check the replies to each review.
Negative experience: It’s an Ok Gym. But it badly needs a refurbishment. Everything is old and falling apart. There are holes in the floor from people Deadlifting that have been there for what seems like years. The locker rooms are pretty gross and don’t seem to be maintained at all. The prices have gone up multiple times, yet nothing is being spent on improving membership experience at all. Like having a clean, well maintained Gym that’s not falling apart. Disappointing.

Negative experience: Honestly has to be the worst gym I’ve ever been to. Started coming there 3-4 months ago, it was great but since last couple weeks I’ve started noticing things that I’ve reported to the staff but no action has been taken. The classrooms have zero ventilation. When there was heatwave and temps went to 30 degrees couple weeks ago, I spoke to the staff. I was told that the aircon stopped working that morning and it will be fixed very soon. It’s been 3 weeks now and nothing’s been done about it. It’s so hard to do even breathe if you’re at the back of the room, the fans don’t rotate that far and there’s no air. The ellipticals on level one are never cleaned. I noticed tissues on the machine second from the right that someone had used to clean the machine and left them there. The had been there for a week until I removed them and informed the staff. I was told the cleaning happens everyday but when I mentioned that the tissues had been there for almost a week, they apologised and said that they’ll look into it. Now there’s tissues on the first elliptical, been there since Thursday, so it’s already 4 days now. Let’s see how long the streak goes for this time.

Positive experience: It's a good place, but the Aircon in the lifting area has been broken ever since...

Negative experience: Location compared to other FF is in poor condition. They literally border broken floor boards with caution tape as a warning that it's a tripping hazard and leave it there for years. Surprised staff didn't report it as a WHS violation considering it's their gym/workplace too. All 6? Rowing machines are somehow not quite working right? Incredible achievement. Machines are broken, a dumbbell rack is missing, leading to piles on the ground. The cleaners they have here are also subpar. Their VIPR barrels are untouched by anyone because there's a layer of grime on them. Stop being 24hrs and use non-operating hours for maintenance. No one comes here because it's got the same hours as Anytime. FF selling point is (was) the condition of the gym and the classes.

Negative experience: Why is it still running. Half of the lockers are broken, paper, pee stain all over the toilet. There is no even hot water today. Worst experience ever!

Negative experience: Pretty dodgy. Signed up and paid for two sessions with a trainer (female to female). Never made genuine efforts to match a time. No alternative arrangements and no refund as ‘I’ didn’t chase it up within a ‘month’. Ripped off. Paid excessive premium price for two years only to find out everyone else was paying lower/cheaper and after two years of paying the excessive price, I was offered a $10 discounted price per week (which would equate to roughly $40 a month, $480 a year) when I applied for cancellation. This is ridiculous. A difference of around 1k for the two years. Looking at all the outdated, rusty and risky machines, where did all my money go? Do not recommend at all. At all.

Negative experience: Cares so much for its members it doesn’t update public holiday hours. Travelled here for a sauna (which needs staffed hours), and hours advertised were wrong. It takes all of 2 minutes for a gym manager to update this.

Negative experience: People hogs machines so your work out takes twice as long as it would. They seems to have a ego on who can hog the machine the longest

Negative experience: I have been using FF NOrth STrathfield for over 3 months & can echo some of the feedback. The gym is good, reasonably clean with a range of machines, but is rated poorly for following reasons. -some areas of gym have feeble aircon & its really difficult to workout during summer months. - staff not enforcing members to wipe equipment & unload weights after use & some members reserving multiple machines with towel, jackets, water bottle, etc. - Though mostly clean, the wet areas are not always clean - steam room, sauna, changing room.

Positive experience: It's a gym with decent equipment, some of it works

Negative experience: My regular gym but management needs a real kick in the pants. Sections of the gym has been without air con since at least November (3+ months). ....in the height of summer ! The SAUNA is dark & small compared to other FF gyms. But worse - it never gets a properly clean, just check between the slats of the benches! I've often noticed multiple sanitary WET WIPES DISPENSERS are empty or non functional. C'mon this is basic hygeine... Almost all gym goers listen to their own music, but the GYM MUSIC IS UNBEARABLY LOUD, makes it impossible to hear my own music unless u have noise cancelling or turn up the volume to dangerous level (hello, long term hearing damage) A staffer once fobbed me off, said its controlled by head office - can u believe that? (if that's true why dont u ask "head office" to adjust it? U jack up the fees regularly but don't provide decent maintenance, and don't listen to your customer feedback. Another tip - why don't you make sure gym users login with their cards upon entry..........there are lots of free loaders entering the premises judging by the amount of users carrying their bags around or not locking their lockers....think of all that missing revenue. To anyone thinking of joining here, ask management about these issues before signing on the dotted line !
Negative experience: Predatory sales tactics trying to sign up vulnerable people into long term contracts, that are difficult to get out of.
Negative experience: Not a safe space, I filed a complaint about the behaviour and nothing came of it. Gym bros with unkind and unsafe attitudes. It used to be a great gym but now it's a mess, train somewhere else.
Positive experience: Pretty popular in the morning around 7am. Equipment diversity and availability were pretty abundant. Natural lighting is amazing, the sun light was beeming in. Only thing was the sauna was no where near hot enough like other clubs.

Positive experience: Decent FF Club that operates 24 hours a day. There is always one or two machines that are out of order, but the changing rooms are fairly clean each time I have been there.

Negative experience: Do not sign up. You sign up to a month to month contract which you still pay a month in advance because when you cancel they try to milk you as much as possible The gym itself is also bare bones. There’s not enough equipment for what you pay I sincerely hope they underhand the long term impacts of not having good customer service, that the club closes due to lack of business and you all lose your jobs from it.
Negative experience: Be very careful when signing up with this gym, they’ll say whatever they have to say to sign you up including false information, then when you need assistance they keep saying they’ll get the manger to get back to you. Also very very crowded gym. Wouldn’t recommend

Negative experience: DO NOT SIGN UP i repeat DO NOT SIGN UP for this fitness first. I had 18 months contract since 2020 and when I'm out of my contract they raise the fortnightly payment and said my membership can be cancel anytime. When I need some assistance with my account they are not welling to help and when I said I wish to cancel my membership they immediately change their tone and I need to pay 4 times my normal payment to cancel the membership and also when I ask for specific amount they aren't given to me and threaten there will be debt collectors chasing me up for unpaid payment. When i ask for specific contract term that i am not in any form of contract because my contract ended already. I have asked the name the person who spoke to me over the phone he doesnt want to gave his name said no as i ask for more information he just hang up the phone. This is my mistake to join this gym.
Negative experience: Absurd! Joined Sunday 23rd April 23 and decided to cancel on 24th of April 23, contract clause 18 stated cooling of period of 7 business days. You have to call to cancel, but not rightaway "will let the manager know". Manager called, asked for reasons, told him car parking is very hard then got told "this is not the real reason because many ppl don't find it an issue and you can park easily across the road" and said "can't cancel for this" I then said "so you mean I can't cancel within the stated 7 business days cooling period? And you disrespecting my decision to cancel?" The manager rightaway changed his tone and yelled at me saying I'm very rude to him. Read the review, mostly stated car parking issue here. This is the 3rd same experience encountered from fitness first australia, the manager will give all sorts of reasons that you can't cancel it and only once before you sign up.

Positive experience: Good equipment on the floor, but really outdated stuff in group fitness classes. Hygiene factor and class schedule inferior to the city FFs
Negative experience: Updating this review to a 1 star. We endured weeks of little or no air con as they were waiting for parts from overseas to fix it. Despite this, it is still widely inadequate and the cardio section is unbearably hot. It also seems the air con kicks in quite late as it’s often warm at 8am but slightly cooler by 9am. Previous review: For the price you’re paying, especially to some other nearby gyms it’s pretty good. It’s obvious that it’s lost a little shine from its prime but once you look past that, it’s a very well equipped gym with a heap of variety in terms of machines and floor spaces to cater for all sorts of workouts.

Positive experience: Spacious with great options for equipment. However, some machines are out of orders almost every week or not well maintained, general area need improved cleanliness.
Negative experience: Very poor customer service. Bernice is acting like she pay us to use her gym not we pay her to use the gym.
Negative experience: Horrible treatment by Bernice who sold us a membership via phone. We wanted to clarify a few things about the offer, so we went to see her at the gym. Me and my husband both spoke in a very calm manner, and asked a few questions regarding some charges we did not recognise. From the moment she came to talk us she appeared tense and not friendly at all. Her expressions were cold, her greeting was cold and zero connection with us as customers. As we raised our concerns she quickly became very heated and started speaking in a very impolite and condescending tone, trying to justify her part. We were not asking for refunds or blaming anyone, however Bernice’s tone and gestures did not reflect even the basic customer service qualities you would expect from someone representing one of the most popular gyms in Australia. I had to point out to her that the way she was addressing us showed terrible attitude and purely negative impression. To my utter relief, Tom, who has been very patient and fantastic with us from day one took over the situation and resolved the whole issue simply with a polite tone and a very understanding attitude. Thank you Tom, your excellent customer service skills shined bright today!
Negative experience: Staffs mannerless
Negative experience: Although the Gym premises are good, its a so expensive especially if you are not opting annual subscription. They charge around 30$ every week. They said I would get 2 weeks trail period but after opting it, they charged me from day 1. Its not clear, too many terms and conditions.
Fantastic experience: Great facility love it!!
Negative experience: Updating the score and planning on cancelling the membership. Every year in the summer it gets unbearable because of lack of airconditioning and the gym management keeps feeding the same promises that they are fixing it. Additionally the flooring around the squat racks have been broken for eternity now which makes 3 stations unusable for squats and honestly dangerous. To the managent: check CCTV on 8/12/24 around 10-10.30am to see a woman triping over the broken floor whilst carrying weights and falling down. Looks like a lawsuit is waiting to happen. I'm an absolute clown for being a member for such a long time so stuff that. If you're considering to join, make sure to visit it during the summer days and walk further than the reception itself towards the Olympic platforms and free weights section. Reception is deceivingly not bad so obviously that's the only section that gets cold air. Other than that the facilities are actually very decent which kept me around for so long. Shame its all falling apart and the gym turns into a sauna for good 6 months of a year.
Negative experience: Misleading information about the contracts and zero transparency. They are perfect until you sign up for it. We had been told cancellation was so easy and deliberately no mentioning of cancellation fee. Even though we made it crystal clear that we do not want any attachments, now 3 months in we get told that there is a cancellation fee of $245. Unbelievable, just unbelievable.
Negative experience: Good in some respects, average in others. I have a few minor individial issues with this one but the total of them means that I'll go elsewhere. Cons: Their stairmasters are not great. They don't have the rotating steps that other FFs have, it's a clunky air pump that stops abruptly at the top of each step you take, not pleasant to use. Many other FFs (Randwick, Newtown) have Solitaire on the cardio machines to help users pass the monotony of the exercise. North Strathfield, don't. Dont know why the inconsistency. In the men's bathroom there's only 2 hooks to hang clothes in the 6 showers. Not enough. You have to pay for parking after 90 minutes I believe (the sign is hard to read). It is a nice, spacious gym and they don't have the same lack of available lockers issue that a few other FF locations have, but for the issues above I won't go back and starting to consider cancelling my FF membership.
Fantastic experience: Great club, double storey, clean, accessible parking, friendly staff, highly recommended. I’m not a professional bodybuilder and I don’t know what they need to be in a gym, but for me as a casual sport person, it’s perfect.

Negative experience: So I signed up for membership here and wanted to cancel in a few days as the gym was unsuitable for me. The girl on the phone said that I had to call back in 28 days I said no I have a cooling off period of 7 days as per contract. She refused to cancel it so I had to be the person to ask the manager to cancel it ! He did it instantly. I can't believe the method and lengths this employee when just to meet quoters for the month! She could have got the company sued ! As it was per my right to withdraw from the contract in 7 days. Unbelievable!!

The first day, the receptionist was extremely insolent. No offers to provide a gym tour, basic housekeeping, location of washroom, lockers and fire exit etc (which is a minimum standard anywhere). I tried to ask some questions, but she was least interested in answering those and persisted on getting me a swipe card for $25.00. I politely asked her to address my basic queries instead of her sales pitch, this made her more aggressive and she almost yelled at me by saying 'don't tell me to listen to you, you should listen to me and don't point your hand towards me'. Well, there is a difference between pointing a finger and moving hands while speaking - probably, this young lady is not aware of this difference. In order to not to escalate things further, I opted to withdraw and made one final attempt to get her to answer my queries. She started pointing her finger tip towards a print out and said 'I told you to look at this sheet but you are not listening to me'. A gentleman from the office came out to rescue me and was happy to provide me the information I needed. However, no tour of the gym was offered and I have to figure out things on my own or getting guidance from fellow members. Not impressed at all.
Fantastic experience: I enjoy my time aet Strathfield Fitness First
Negative experience: The gym was old and dirty. There was no urgency from the staff to keep the place clean. To top it off; I cancelled my membership within the comfort guarantee in the contract and they still charged me.
Negative experience: The gym has what you need overall but machines need to be better maintained or upgraded. The ceiling in the room for most group exercises is leaking and has a lot of what appears to be wet, mouldy patches. There have been times where water droplets are found on the ground too which is a real safety hazard. The ceiling has been like this for well close to half a year from what I've seen, if not longer and I would have thought something would have been done by now. Do our membership fees actually go towards maintaining the quality of our gyms?
Negative experience: TLDR; Worst gym experience ever. Like some of the other reviewers, my partner and I had an incredibly unpleasant experience with the manager. We have the normal access cards so we can access the gym during staffed hours (until 4pm on Saturdays). 1. We were refused entry at 3:30pm because the manager told us that there were no staff, even though there were clearly staff behind the counter. 2. We offered to pay to upgrade our cards for 24/7 access but were told they couldn't. 3. Another staff member let us through, but was forced to chase us down to tell us that the manager was kicking us out because he was in a bad mood that day. The gym itself is dirty, messy and the machines are in poor condition. Please don't make our mistake - go to another gym. We have been to so many other gyms across Sydney and have never had to deal with such rude, unprofessional behaviour.
Negative experience: Worst gym experience. Unprofessional and rude staff from trainers to receptionists. Old and broken equipment. Dirty all round and never seen the club being cleaned or maintained. Someone below mentioned cockroaches, I too reported this multiple times. Don’t even bother sending emails or calling, you either won’t be responded to or your call won’t be answered. Not even your cheapest gyms deliver such a poor experience. Save your money and go to one of the many surrounding and more affordable gyms.

Positive experience: Convenient for me in terms of proximity and car parking. Neat gym. Not overly busy during the day on work days.
Negative experience: Hello All, Good day ! One of the worst and pathetic gym in north strathfield. Before I get into the details and no matter what the situation is. I am very disappointed and hurt by the words and the rude behavior by your North Strathfield manager "Rushit Sheth" . He has used words like "Get Out" from the gym even i am a member of the gym from last 7 months. No hygiene No cleanliness No proper timings No proper notice Most of the time equipments are out of order.
Negative experience: I don't have an option to give "0". Else, I would have given 0. Customer Service and Especially Manager "Rushit" at North Strathfield is very very bad. They don't treat the customers properly. They are good until you join them, post that, they don't care. And, when you want to cancel the account, they will treat you rudely. I personally experienced this.
Positive experience: Decent 24hours Fitness First in the inner west. Parking limit sometimes is a trouble on site . Gym requires more cleaning.
Negative experience: Honestly, the rating doesn’t lie, this gym is so bad it’s unreal. Claiming to be 24/7 but EVERY SINGLE TIME I come to this gym its closed. ZERO communication with the customers and they can’t even make the effort to put some kind of notice on the google maps. Even on google maps it still says open 24/7. The equipments are so rusty and the gym is filthy(used tissues everywhere
Negative experience: Update your opening hours. They randomly stops opening 24 hours without any notice. Apparently they sent out a notice which I didn't receive. So I asked to send me the notification in future but they told me they dont know how... sad sad sad sad sad. Gym itself is not too bad.
Fantastic experience: I’ve never been comfortable going to a gym until I came here. The staff are lovely and helpful. The ladies in the Creche make my little boy feel safe while I exercise and everything is always super clean. I love coming here!
Negative experience: - Old and poorly maintained machines. Machines have been “out of order” since the 2021 lockdown and are still broken. It has been 4 months… Surely repairs don’t take THAT long. - Constantly leaking when it rains. Areas of the gym now smell of mould. - Apparently the rain “messes with the 24/7 access” so you turn up out of hours to find that you can’t get in. Zero communication from the club which is incredibly frustrating. This has happened on numerous occasions and when asked there is no timeframe given about when this will be fixed. - Equipment is never put back in it’s place. You spend half the time walking around to find what you need. - This gym is filthy. I wonder how often the cleaners come. I only use the bathrooms if I’m desperate. - When issues are communicated with staff, I always get the excuse that it has been raised with management. When I call the gym to speak with the manager, I am either on hold for 30+ minutes, only to be hung up on, OR I am told that the manager is “with a client and will call me back”… There are so many other gyms in this area who are offering 24/7 access with clean and well maintained equipment. I don’t understand how they manage to get away with so much… Absurd. I have tried calling the 1300 number and sent emails with no response. I’ll be interested to see if the gym responds to this post.
Negative experience: terrible nobody helps me I have been paying 50.60 fortnightly when initially they were 40.60 I have complained but they never give me a solution and they say they will return my money the following month, they also do not allow me to cancel my membership due to false advertising
Negative experience: This gym never picks up phone calls or answer any emails!!!! I have been waiting on the phone for hours and emails were sent many days ago with no reply....

Negative experience: they literally one of the most expensive gyms in Sydney and the worst gym brand. The facilities and its service were not worth paying at all. I would not recommend Fitness First to people who are new to gyms.
