Fantastic experience: Really nice gym, staff, climbs and chess boards!

Fantastic experience: Came through for a quick session between climbing days at the Blueys. Big shout out to Jack for putting up with our shenanigans, providing some stoke and just being an all round genuine character who clearly cares about his gym and his community!

Fantastic experience: Heaps of open space to chill when you're not climbing! Great vibes and the staff are incredible. Also full of top climbs for any skill level!

Positive experience: Bouldering with a clear focus on creating a chilled, friendly environment, with great staff. The facilities are good, without being exceptional and they could have potentially made better use of their space for both climbing and other features, such as the gym. However, what you get in place of that is ample space, so you never feel crowded, and plenty of seating arrangements with games to relax, hang out, and socialise. There is also a downstairs area with ping pong table, which is great, but perhaps could be better utilised. There is a gym area too, though it's quite simplistic, with 2 power racks, some olympic weights, dumbbells up to 30kg, and a few accessories. So far as strength setups in bouldering gyms it's not bad, but even my home gym is better equipped, so you definitely wouldn't come here just for that. Lastly, there is a well-kept Kilter Board and campus board section, though again the spacing is a bit odd. I was informed that this is mostly due to structural limitations, but hopefully they can find a way to better utilise the space. In summary, 1UP provides a welcoming and suitably diverse bouldering environment for a wide range of climbers. There isa lot to like about the gym and nothing I'd consider poor, but there are some areas for improvement that could take it from very good, to excellent! My overall enjoyment was an easy 5 star experience, but there are some gyms that do a few little things a bit better and so I give it a very strong 4. Definitely a gym I'll be returning to!

Fantastic experience: I arrived on a Tuesday afternoon, and it was not crowded at all. Jack at the front desk was very friendly and offered me some excellent advice on how to improve. I really appreciated it. I definitely recommend it.

Positive experience: Sydney's most underrated bouldering gym! Despite living nearby, 1UP was never on my radar until I drove past recently. Really great deal for first timers and very spacious so it's not too crowded. Grading system was a little confusing at first, keep an eye out for the coloured tags on the start hold.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! It is quite big and has a variety of different styles of climbs. The manager Jack is amazing - so friendly and is so happy to help you out with your projects. Lovely community and would recommend! :)

Fantastic experience: 1UP has quickly become of my favourite local gyms and for good reason. It's super spacious and I love the large variety of climbs, as well as the overall vibe. It's also got a decent free-weight area, and plenty of spaces to kickback and play some board games after some climbs.

Fantastic experience: it was my first time bouldering ever and i had fun. the crew and other climbers helped me out. as a newbie, i never felt intimidated bcoz they have a lot of sets that suits beginners. the gym is very laid back with pingpong tables that you can play to relax at the ground floor. the first thing i noticed coming in the gym is the background music which is mostly 90s alternative & which is my kind of music

Positive experience: Great place to climb. I wanted to check out some new places the climb and 1up had popped up. Great pricing and atmosphere.the only downside is that the climbs were colour coded with little papers and not the acctual holds

The people who keep collaboratively working for the place seem generally inclusive in their manner to the customers. The Customers who regularly attend are amazing bunch of generally decent individuals who have a passion for climbing, I really like the effort they putt in to achieve difficult climbs. The week end casual climbers add to produce an electric atmosphere. Friday and Saturday nights there’s lots of appreciation when difficult climbs are completed at all levels. I am to be able to link with others to work out climbs together, there’s generally a stable fist Bump policy with all climbers freely given as encouragement or unity. Fantastic experience: Awesome, inclusive climbing gym! 1up has a good range of sets, both in style and difficulty plus other gym equipment, range of hangboards, campus rungs and a full sized kilter so there's always something new to climb or train on. Staff are always friendly and helpful, and the space is so open that it really helps the vibes! Chill out/table tennis space downstairs is a bonus!

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed my experience at 1Up. It was my first time bouldering and the staff were kind enough to give me a quick demonstration about climbing and how to safely fall. I like that there are different colours to symbolise different difficulty levels, so I felt more comfortable to start at the beginner level and work my way up from there. It was a fun experience and I would do it again! My only feedback is that I wish that there was a bubbler or a chilled filtered tap for refilling water, but there is a sink at the moment with potable water.

Positive experience: Very new and spacious place, located in an industrial area of chullora, plenty of parking, not as big as other gyms but definitely enough space, went in the morning at 10am and was dead empty, they change the blocks every Monday which gives it variety, they have nice facilities with some gym equipment, chess, noughts and crosses, and coffee, good to just hang out after a boulder sesh, would definitely come again and potentially get a membership

Fantastic experience: Huuuuge bouldering gym! They could fit a moonboard or 3 if they wanted to. That being said I do wish they had more walls to climb on. Climbs were a great challenge and the guy at the desk was really friendly too! He noticed I was trying to prop my phone up on my chalk bag and brought me a phone stand. 10/10 would visit again

Fantastic experience: This is my local gym and the vibes are immaculate. Staff are always friendly and happy to help. There’s a good variety of holds and generally interesting climbs, plenty of parking and super spacious inside. I have to say that recent setting has become noticeably easier and less fun, especially with the oranges. Please keep the climbs challenging!

Fantastic experience: Came here a couple weeks ago with some friends to try out bouldering for the first time. I was nervous at first but they have climbing configurations that cater for beginnings like myself. After I gained confidence I tried the intermediate ones and did much better than I thought! So much fun.
