Negative experience: The toilets are often unclean, which isn’t great. On top of that, the air conditioning on the top level hasn’t been working for months. With the heat at its peak, it’s become really humid, smelly, and almost impossible to work out comfortably.

Negative experience: If I could give Fitness First Willoughby a rating of ZERO I would!! After over 6 years membership I am done with the inadequate gym equipment, rundown, unhygienic change rooms and an air-conditioning system that never works! Don't bother working out on the weights equipment upstairs during summer, it's a sauna! Unbearable is an understatement! I've raised these concerns with management over the years with no luck. Don't waste your time or money on this gym, there are far superior gyms in the area that offer better equipment, amazing customer service and AIRCON during summer!

Fantastic experience: Connor at reception provides 5 start commendable customer service. He’s polite, greets you on entry and exit, and cares about what you’re training on the day and your plans for the weekend genuinely. This employee must win multiple awards… here’s another to add to the shelf!

Negative experience: I've been a gym rat on/off for 10+ years. I've literally worked out in gyms all across Australia. For the most part, membership during this period has been with Norths Cammeray and Anytime Fitness Neutral Bay and Willoughby. 12 months ago I made the switch to FFW to take advantage of Sauna and Steam rooms. Outside of these areas there is absolutely nothing I would recommend about FFW over the other gyms. The state of the gym is generally poor. Equipment is old and needs updating (pieces are often in disrepair), air-conditioning in the weights room has been broken for the past month, there are often no wipes for wiping the machines down or the spray bottles are empty. Staff do not care if people bring towels or not, and obscenely, they also don't care if people walk around the weight room bare feet (literally without socks). People often do not restack their weights, and staff never ever do anything about this. I've actually seen older patrons struggle to take off heavy plates on machines so that they can use them, and have had to help them numerous times (never seen any staff member assist). Overall, I would rate this gym as the worst one in the lower birth shore (ATF Chatswood is garbage too), and I would recommend others to only join if they can regularly go to other fitness first branches like Bond St (fantastic gym) or even Chatswood (pretty average, but the equipment is much better). Overall, I think FFW is way below standard, and to call it a platinum gym is laughable. I'm absolutely convinced that this gym is a hotbed of viruses in winter just through the poor sanitary standards of the place.

Positive experience: I work out here 4 times a week and two of those sessions are with PT Christopher Bernard. I have some old back juries that have hampered my training in the past. Christopher is an absolute genius at balancing my desire for wellness with my issues to the extent that I can fully participate. I am blown away with his knowledge and care and I 1000% reccommend Christopher and FF Willoughby.

Positive experience: Big improvements in cleanliness of change rooms. However a number of the soap dispensers in the male showers have been broken for months and not repaired.

Negative experience: Owfyl customer service. They just want you to sign up and after that you can noy get hold of them and manythings that they advertise for doesn't work at there center ans it's out of service. Would not recommend them at all

Positive experience: The upper floor of the gym feels gloomy and dull, and much of the equipment, including machines, benches, and other items, looks and feels outdated and seems to brake somewhat often (Their cable machines are repeat offenders). I’d like to see this section of the gym renovated with a better variety and quality of machines, including a proper hack squat machine and a rear delt/pec fly machine. More mirrors next to the squat racks and deadlift platforms would help beginners improve on their technique and promote better mind-muscle connection during squats, deadlifts, and Olympic lifts which would reduce the likelihood of an injury. It would also be great to add tools like MAG Grips for lat pulldowns and resistance bands for warming up/rehab work. I shouldn't need to purchase these at my own expense and bring them in everytime. For many of us, bodybuilding, weightlifting and even general fitness are the main focuses of our visits and the facilities that this branch provides does not justify the membership price.

Negative experience: I had a horrible experience today at the reformer pilates in fitness first willoughby club. my alarm accidently went off during class and the instructor VIVIAN commented on me being annoying. I was shoocked how mean the instructor can be and it ruined my day. And if you reading on the comments, I am not the first one who felt ill treated by her, and to fitness first managment, I am sure I will not be the last one.

Negative experience: They turn us away and told us that the swimming pool doesn’t allow kids anymore. Unless I have heard this wrong but this is highly disappointing. Fitness first is really going down the drain. No wonder they are struggling with membership I know that for a fact

Negative experience: Given that we pay the full weekly fee, we expect all the advertised amenities to be fully operational. However, it's disappointing to see that the sauna, spa, pool, and other facilities are rarely available together. The cleanliness of the floors and showers is also consistently lacking. Negative experience: Update: I've messaged on Instagram but no response to that too. Photo attached. Since you're charging full price every week, we deserve to receive all the promised facilities in proper working order. I've never seen the sauna, spa, pool, and other amenities functioning properly at the same time. The floors are always dirty, and the showers are not maintained.

Negative experience: For the price we pay for FF memberships, you’d think we would be taken care of with the bare necessities but sadly no. I got rope burn from a reformer Pilates class today and needed a Band-Aid because I was bleeding. The reception didn’t have any. The receptionist got one from her car and gave it to me. Another time about 5 months ago I needed a Band-Aid and again, reception had none in their first aid kit. I drove to Woolies, purchased some and even provided them some for anyone who needed them between the time they got more but it’s sad to see not much has changed months later, even with a new manager. While I’m at it, let me also mention that equipment is always broken and takes at least a month to fix and when it does get fixed, they forgot the important things like the connector to connect handles on the cable machines for example. Also legitimately took 3-4 months to fix the aircon for the reformer Pilates room earlier this year. Oh and the carpark likely has so many safety violations, it’s amazing how things haven’t been fixed, like the huge puddle of water on the second level of the carpark when it rains and how it drains out of a crack in the wall. All up, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done and a lot more training for the people in charge.

Positive experience: Really big gym with plenty of space. Many options to exercise like the pool, studios, pilates and of course the gym. However the equipment is very outdated and many machines are damaged. Missing some equipment like a chest fly machine.

Negative experience: This gym has the worst bathrooms I have ever seen. There are public bathrooms which are much cleaner. The attached photos show what the upstairs female toilets look like on a daily basis (they were taken on 3 different days of the week). I'm sure the cleaners couldn't care less and no matter how many times I've complained, they are still disgusting. It cannot be that difficult to have them cleaned regularly, and properly!

Negative experience: Hygene is terrible and music is loud and annoying (So Fresh 2000-2013) . Please fix this, it’d be a much nicer place - we pay for a certain standard of cleanliness in our membership. I never see cleaners here.

Negative experience: I used to be a big fan of fitness first but over the years, the equipment getting old or broken, although you have so many branches but from one location to another location, all fitness first are the same... The wood in sauna room got really old and even with black colour... The work out equipments are so old without instructions ... Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of the Fitness first chain for over 15 years and have been dealing with a long ordeal of trying to end my membership and stop unauthorised charges from another fitness first venue for 2 years after breaking my leg and subsequent injuries from a bad accident which prevented me from training. I have not stepped foot inside the other venue and have been ignored by them and charged regardless of my medical documentation. Fast forward to today, Connor one of the new managers at Willoughby FF rang me and sorted my issue out in less than an hour. I cannot begin to describe the amount of stress and anxiety and frustration he has helped resolve today. He was extremely professional, personable and understanding, a great addition to the Willloughby team and an example for all FF club managers and they type of commitment to their members that is expected but only some are fortunate enough to have at their gym. A big shout out to the regional manager who had also helped resolve my issue and I am happily signed up on a new membership as of today with the Willoughby Platinum club. Thank you

Negative experience: I'm reluctant to give any business a negative review on a public forum but Fitness First Willoughby has deteriorated so much that it's truly an unpleasant experience every time I go. The facilities are unclean to the point of being unhygienic. Rubbish and food scraps lay around in the bathrooms for days. There is black mold in all the wet areas and the surfaces are grimey. Lockers, spa, sauna and steam rooms are regularly out of service. Wet towels plug gaps in the sauna and sit around under leaky appliances for days. Not a great experience for paying members.

Negative experience: The hygiene of this gym is an absolute disgrace. The reviews all echo the same concern and to my surprise management is failing to action the concerns of members. The steam rooms do not work efficiently and smell filthy. The spas are constantly out of order and it takes FF a very long time to fix the problem. There are numerous equipments that are out of order at any given time. The staff continuously blame third parties for the problems. It seems that despite all the complaints on google, nothing gets done and the company is only interested in collecting money. A platinum labeled product should not be operating at such a poor and unhealthy level. I urge members that are unhappy and concerned, to lodge a formal complaint with the NSW Department of fair trade.

Negative experience: Ok I’ve been patient as a member of this facility. The cleanliness at this gym is a disgrace. Mould in all the men’s showers, dirty floors, smelly urinals. Change your cleaning contractors woul be my suggestion. To top it all on Thursday 23 May no hot water for a shower! When I asked to see the manger I was told he was sick and the best way to complain was to write a review on google, then FF head office might do something! I always mention my experiences when completing the FF survey but nothing changes. If this is a platinum gym, I’d hate to see a regular FF gym.

Negative experience: Fitness First are still running the "you didn't cancel your membership" scam. I signed up a 1 month membership for my wife, after a month they kept charging me. I cancelled my membership 2 months ago and have just received an email from a debt collector asking for $142 for overdue payments. I don't owe them a cent. Its worth noting in this review that there is nothing "platinum" about this gym, more dirt tier. Other than being transported back to 2004 in this gym, the cable machines have roughly 1 grip per cable, they are also very old and breaking. It costs like $25 to get a new rope for the cable machines but they cant even do that. Machines are left without repair for long periods, and out of service machines are common when they are older than the gym itself. There is nothing about this gym that makes you go "wow", the price should have come down over the years as they have never invested back into it. The premium price is a joke. Basically, don't sign up here unless you have to, and if you have to, sign up on a throw away bank card.

Negative experience: I have called 2 times enquire about reformer plates and went in person to book a trial class was told different information. The reception staff MIA who is so proud of herself talk down to me and refused to help sign up. There is no clear policy about fitness passport to trial on the reformer plates, staff member are unprofessional and lack of customer skills. What is to lose just for a trial? If it is going to offer to general public what stops the fitness passport member for a trial class as well. I have no idea why they have to treat me like this, it is not a friendly Gym.

Positive experience: Reformer pilates was really good! Note it is a tv screen that tells you what exercises to do but an instructor is overlooking everything. Not a fitness first thing but some people made parking so hard to find (saw about 3 free spots that were taken up by another car :) )

Negative experience: The bathrooms are incredibly mouldy and disgusting. While the pool area is nice it just feels like its lacking some essential maintenance and really needs a face lift. The wooden walls in the sauna are chipping away and the steam rooms have a very putrid smell. The equipment in the weights area seems to be always breaking! The carpark stairwells are absolutely gross and have black mould growing in them! Also the gardens look very sad. Such a shame this place has been let go, it used to be the best FF!! Definitely not worthy of a “platinum” title in my opinion.

Fantastic experience: My review is specifically about Tanya the Thursday Reformer Pilates instructor - Tanya is fantastic and I while I want to be selfish and keep her all to myself and ensure the class doesn't fill up - I cannot recommend her enough - if you are a beginner to go to her classes specifically as the first ones. She is warm, professional, welcoming, safe, engaging and most of all there is absolutely zero judgement, only support and guidance. She is the absolute best person I could imagine to have teach this class and I would attend every session she runs if I could. I have had multiple instructors and they can truly make or break an experience and lets just say if one of the instructors I had was my first I would not have continued to attend but I am very thankful and lucky I got Tanya and now actively attend her sessions. 10/10 recommend Tanya!!

Negative experience: I have never been treated so horrifically by a staff member in my long term gym. I was verbally harassed by Vivian the Pilates instructor for the second time. I was using a group room and obliging by rules of that room with a friend of mine. There was a class starting at 10:30am and at 10:20am she stands over us and demands we leave now with no intentions communicating that in a polite and respectful manner. She was rude and condescending from the start of the conversation. She then continued to escalate her uncontrollable behaviour whilst I defended ourselves. We were so shocked that we were being spoken to so aggressively and in front of other members. I have reported the previous incident with her which followed a similar narrative and this time I stood up for myself as a member that respects the gym and demanded that she not speak to us like that when we’ve done nothing wrong. She thankfully got management involved which they listened to us and apologised for her unprofessional behaviour. I appreciated their efforts in the situation, they were lovely. If you need a member to leave a room early that is absolutely fine, however you treat them with respect and ask them politely. This situation would never have happened if it was a respectful staff member.

However, I've recently encountered some issues that have been affecting my experience as a member. I've noticed that the cleanliness of the gym leaves much to be desired, with equipment often being dirty and facilities like the jacuzzi and sauna in need of maintenance. Additionally, many of the machines and equipment seem outdated and in need of repair.These issues have made it challenging for me to fully enjoy my workouts and have even affected my motivation to continue attending the gym regularly. Fantastic experience: Great and one of the biggest Fitness First clubs I've visited. Loved being able to have a swim after my workout. Sunday morning RPM High Performance was awesome. Best Spin class I've ever been to. Thanks for being one of the few Fitness Firsts which offers Sunday morning Spin class!! I think the other recent reviews have been a little bit unfair and overly critical.

Negative experience: I have many gripes with this gym considering how much i pay for membership every fortnight. I hope this review can be brought up the to gym manager's attention for future improvements. Equipment Maintenance: This branch is slow to repair broken machines. Two out of three cable machines have been out of order for nearly four weeks, especially inconvenient during peak hours. Limited Tools: Unlike other commercial gyms in the area, this gym lacks variety in cable attachments and weightlifting tools like MAG Grips, Vulken Tricep Rope attatchment and resistance bands. Despite splurging on unnecessary cardio equipment, essential tools like these are overlooked. Redundant Machines: There are three Horizontal Leg Press machines, one 45-degree Leg Press machine, a V squat machine, and a Linear Hack SquatMachine that serve similar purposes in targeting muscles. The selection of these machines is very poor and highly redundant. Neglected Chalk Station: The chalk station hasn't been refilled in months, adding to the list of issues that need addressing.

Negative experience: Since I start going to Willoughby's club, the spa is not working! More than 3 months. Every second day one of the equipment stops working. Also the saunas, so we are paying for platinum (!), and getting nothing !!!

Negative experience: I am shocked. How is FF Corporate Allowing this gym to continue to operate. For a start, the washrooms are constantly blocked, easily 20% of their lockers are broken or out of service. Steam rooms are constantly out of service. The racks are not complete, old and worn bar and dumbbells. Yes there is a pool , good size stretch and yoga area. but it's far from being a quality outlet.

Positive experience: The gym features 3 floors (one cardio, dumbells stretching equipment) and the other a weight room with a good amount of equipment. There is also a Physio, masseuse, beauty therapist and meeting room facility - although I have not used these services. Great that they are there. The staff are really friendly and are happy to help with anything. The gym also features a 3 lap pool, plus recreational pool area, steam rooms, saunas, 2 jacuzzis, change rooms, showers and locker rooms. (An infrared sauna would be awesome) I went to inspect initially just to sign up my son and was pleasantly surprised that 14yo upwards can join and most importantly there is reformer pilates!! I have tried FS8 and KX Pilates, and the Fitness First version is better than FS8 by far and on par with KX Pilates and only a little extra per week membership to include the Pilates. Amazing! The instructors are attentive, have great communication skills and genuinely take an interest in ensuring correct form and that you get the best out of every Pilates workout. For me, the Pilates alone makes this gym membership for me great value ... and in addition there's the pool area and all the other classes! I was successfully upsold and purchased 2 discounted 45 min PT sessions, which I accepted thinking my son would need it to get him started and to learn how to use the equipment properly and how to act in a gym etc. However I had no intention to continue beyond the promotional 2 sessions. After completing a questionnaire, we were connected to a PT, Jeremy Sarka. He took the time to get to know us and our needs/goals/objectives and he has excellent communication and customer service skills. Jeremy has created programs for my son and I, and although I had no intention for PT, we have continued with Jeremy with regular PT sessions as it is benefiting us (especially my son) enormously. It has been the best initiative for my health and well being, and I am so grateful to have found Fitness First Willoughby. I agree to some extent with the other reviews, that cleanliness could be improved but I think that is also a function of the age of the gym. It is hard to make it shiny when it is physically older and there are some maintenance matters that could be improved (E.g. the gym equipment, and change rooms), however taking into account the inclusions (classes, 2 floors of gym equipment, pool, sauna, jacuzzi) it is a great gym for my family and I for the price paid. 4 stars but with a little more attention to cleanliness and maintenance, this gym could easily be 5 stars.

Negative experience: I have been training with weights for 40 years, I have never trained in a more pathetic, uninspiring gym ever. I cannot understand how they can call this a Platinum gym. The floor space is huge, it is sparsely equipped, with very old equipment, it also has a very poor selection of machines, that are not well maintained. I am only training there as I lost my license and the gym is within walking distance. So, I train there from desperation, not from choice. It would be nice to have a gym that I would like to train at close to home. This gym, falls short in every possible way. It is also way too expensive for the equipment on offer. It seems as though more money was spent on the change rooms than on equipment.

Could benefit from a quicker payment system as buying a drink sometimes can take a while, some lockers broken and could benefit from more rubber mats on the floor in the change room as there's regularly big puddles of water on the ground.

Negative experience: Shocking management and customer service. Here are the 2 main grievances: Management failed to organise any of the PT sessions that were included in the 12 months contract for my 16 y.o. son. He was left to his own devices, i.e. never given a proper instruction let alone received a training plan. Needless to say that he lost interest as he was unsure what to do. "Money first" not fitness first, also how they treated me. I paid off a small outstanding amount (which accrued due to being sick and not visiting the gym). Guess what? 2 months later collection house harassed me with frequent text messages and phone calls, which required me to spend precious time dealing with stuff that falls into FF Willoughby's responsibility. Call back requests have not been responded to ... It's like flogging a dead horse.

Negative experience: The club has locked the studio rooms so no members can use them. The use of the studios is part of the membership price and a selling point the staff use when they sign you up. Negative experience: This place bloody stinks. Literally. Theres hardly any ventilation which makes this place a cocktail of body odour and musty wet carpet that circulates around the gym with its prehistoric industrial fans. The equipment is as thrashed as my 1997 toyota camry. To call this place a platinum club is a joke.

Negative experience: I really wanted to like this gym because it's a big area with nice views. Unfortunately standard and essential equipment is missing (there are no resistance bands!) The equipment that is here is very dated and not maintained, for example the heal slider's screws have all pulled out and someone will fall off it. Equipment is not organised by the staff at all and everything ends up everywhere so very hard to find. L There is a lot of wasted space here and they do not have enough of the commonly used machines here e.g. pulley machine.

Negative experience: Very poor customer service. Cancelled my membership and was charged for the next 6 months. I rang the club multiple times during this and the manager was never available. Multiple emails and calls , with no response. I ended up having to go in to speak with the manager who informed me that it was a head office error but no refund was able to be provided. Very convenient as they'd already charged me... Was a member for many years, wouldn't recommend joining to anyone

Negative experience: Asked staff to sign up for a 3 month membership, made it extremely clear that I had no intention to stay beyond that date. Instead was signed in for an auto renewed contract that charged me for 3 extra months, and was near impossible to sign out of. If you aim to sign up for any brief period reconsider.

Negative experience: Good equipment. I especially love that there is a pool, spas, sauna and steam rooms. However, the changing rooms, especially the showers, and the pool area, including the sauna, steam room and spa are ABSOLUTELY FILTHY. It makes me feel sick just looking at the amount of mould everywhere, let alone having to walk, sit down, have a shower etc. in this disgusting environment. Surely a place like Fitness First should be able to afford cleaning their premises properly.

Negative experience: Prepare to pay an extra $10 a week due to their debating outsourcing system being trash. Often seems that it doesn’t recognise the same credit card I’ve used the past 9 months which always has money accessible. Have just started Pilates reformer which I can’t do as I have low blood pressure and it will give you a head spin !
