Fantastic experience: Rebeca manager at Chatswood FF and the FF staff have done an excellent job keeping everyone cool and comfortable during group classes with the portable aircon. Their support is greatly appreciated. However, it’s important for all instructors to prioritize safety in Zumba classes. Controlling the fans to make a point to a member is not acceptable and can jeopardize the health and safety of others.

I’ve seen so many reviews mentioning how hot it gets, and Fitness First just keeps responding with the same generic message about ‘trying to fix it.’ It’s frustrating because the first complaint about the aircon was over 7 years ago! It feels like nothing’s being done. I really hope they sort this out soon—members deserve a better experience.

Fantastic experience: It is convenient as I live in Chatswood. The staff are friendly and helpful. I have not had any problems with class sizes since we returned from lockdown. The club is well maintained, although sometimes I have to wander around looking for sanitiser wipes as the nearby dispensers are empty.

Positive experience: Good gym. One of the better fitness firsts. Edit: had to detuct a star for having the coldest steam room I've ever been in. The 1000W lights in there don't make it very relaxing either.

Negative experience: I recently visited this gym and I was extremely disappointed with the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the facility. The sauna had missing pieces on the wall, which gave the impression that the place was falling apart. I was taken aback by the lack of maintenance and attention to detail at this gym. It was clear that the management was not prioritizing the upkeep of the facility, which was reflected in the overall appearance and feel of the place. I would not recommend this gym to others based on my experience. A clean and well-maintained environment is essential for a positive workout experience, and unfortunately, this gym fell short in that aspect. Negative experience: Beware, they’re out to scam you! A male salesperson (can’t remember his name) approached me on the street, offering a “free trial.” He assured me I wouldn’t be charged within the first month, so I gave him my credit card number. I never managed to visit, tried to cancel, and still got charged for two weeks of membership. When I complained to the manager, Rebekah Finselbach, she claimed the terms and conditions were in a contract I never received. I asked her to provide proof that the contract was sent, and she stopped responding. I run businesses too, and companies like this deserve no respect. I’m sure I’m not the only one. I hope someone sues them. AND stop with the sales calls! Update 2 Oct: I’ve tried both appropriate ways phone calls and emails, why do I need to reach out via DM?

Negative experience: Never join here. They are just waiting for you miss a payment, so that they can keep charging $10 on top of your weekly amount. There are heaps of better gyms around Chatswood with good people and better gym equipment and space. Just waiting for my contract to get over.

Negative experience: I wanted to attend an aqua class at Fitness First in Chatswood, so I checked their app for the schedule. I drove 20 minutes to get there, but when I arrived, I found the pool was closed, and the app hadn't been updated.Very disappointing and reflects poor management.

Negative experience: There is nothing platinum about the platinum Fitness First in Chatswood. I’ve had numerous issues in the year that I’ve been a member here. Equipment is always out of order, locker cards don’t work at times, and recently the treadmill has turned off on me mid run (two times in the last week). The latter is an injury hazard. I told the receptionist staff about it when it first happened a few days ago and she put an out of order sign on it. The exact treadmill did the exact same thing today. So to me, it sounds like the out of order sign was on the treadmill for a few days and then removed with no action taken. As someone who joined the gym to recover from an injury, I do not feel like this gym is a safe environment. The equipment is old and issues are not addressed at their root cause. Poor service for a gym that charges a lot of money.

Fantastic experience: I'm no longer a member of Fitness First - I moved interstate a few years back and had to go with a different provider. That led to a mixup with charges etc, one that escaped my attention for quite some time. When I raised the issue, Fitness First could not have been more professional nor prompt with their response. Negative experience: TLDR; Fitness First Chatswood has some administration problems (charging the wrong debit amount for my friends and refusing guest pass multiple times) and I recommend to just sign up with a different Fitness First franchise. So I used to be a Fitness First member and also was a Fitness Passport member and did go to the Chatswood Fitness First for a year. I'm currently with a different gym franchise at the moment, however my friends have signed up to this Fitness First franchise. I want to support them on their fitness goals and join them for a session. I tried applying for the Free one day trial pass. Understood in the terms and conditions that the gym can reject any request for the trial. Met with a staff member, Courtney, and explained that I'm not looking to change gyms and want to try and support my friends. In that appointment, I couldn't find proof that I worked nearby and was told to buy a casual pass. Even if my friends came later that night, I had to buy a casual pass. Ultimately, even if found proof that I worked nearby, due to my reason, I was told I was not going to be issued the trial pass. That was a bit rude to hear that, so I didn't pay casual pass and left. Told my friends that I couldn't join them after this embarrassing appointment. Not only that, one of my friends had their accounts debited incorrectly to what was agreed upon. This was ultimately fixed by some staff at their next visit but if our friendship group didn't share how much they were paying for Fitness First Chatswood, one would have been paying much more than the other even when they signed up 2 days apart! The next day, Chatswood Fitness First SMS'd my friends offering complimentary guest passes for friends and family. My friend tried to request the guest pass for me to join them for their session. I was looking forward to checking out if the gym changed for the better and thought that proof of local employment isn't needed for this complimentary guest pass for friends and family. My friends were rejected from obtaining the guest pass because the staff who responded to the request remembered me, as I could not prove that I worked nearby. The staff told my friends that I have to buy a casual pass to join my friends for ONE SESSION. It makes no sense to reject 'friends and family' on locale restrictions because friends and family could live anywhere in Australia and could sign up to any Fitness First in the country. I believe that my friends were rejected because the staff (Courtney) remembered my reason from the appointment and will continue to reject the guest pass requests. I have the freedom to switch gyms. If I had the chance to trial this gym WITH my friends and enjoyed it and planned to meet my friends there regularly, I could have signed up. But I'll never know and really, I don't want to know, now. I hope this review was worth the $25 casual pass that the team kept shoving down my throat and my friend's throats.

Fantastic experience: I'm glad I chose Chatswood as my home club after visiting several locations during the open week. The Chatswood team is welcoming and professional, and I truly appreciate all the assistance they've provided: JC helped me locate my jacket in the group studio over the phone. When I visited to confirm it was him, he proudly pointed to his name badge with a smile and said, "Yes, it was me, JC!" Reane offered to assist over the phone and followed up with a clear email after confirming with the manager. Cameron was incredibly patient and helpful in resolving some technical issues with my account. He respectfully consulted with his manager and coordinated with Debit Success to ensure everything was handled smoothly. We discussed the situation over the phone, and he followed up with an email to confirm the details. I was impressed by his professionalism, especially considering his young age. My member friend and I were greeted by him before the open week, and we were surprised to learn he was in sales — he didn’t have the typical pushy salesperson vibe. He followed through on his promise to take care of us and even ensured my friend’s referral rewards were applied at another home club. Coming from Hong Kong, where efficiency is highly valued, I’m more than happy to recommend the team. They work reliably and closely with their manager to provide excellent service.

Negative experience: It’s 6.20 in the morning and the toilet already looks disgusting. The gym open at 6.00am, it’s unacceptable finding the toilet in that condition that early; people just walked in and probably haven’t been clean since yesterday. Gym is well equipped, such a shame since it looks like maintenance is close to 0. First barbell I touched to load weights leaved rust/dirt on my hands. Temperature in the centre too high, I understand the swimming pool make its part on it but it feels like the ventilation is switched off. Just walking around the centre makes you sweat.

Negative experience: Expensive weekly for what it is. Well kept gym. Clean and tidy. Good equipment and set up. However, overall I expected more from a platinum gym. The loud music in some of the classes is annoying and ear splitting. Les Mills programs are all hard on the body and the joints. They thrash you there thinking it's better. Not for the long term. Forget about balance is the key. I don't know why reception is there. In all locations they have terrible people skills and customer service. Many times they seem annoyed and don't bother explaining anything. If you work at a gym it's about people. The late fees are $10 each time it rejects. I have 2 accounts, business and personal and I did not transfer in time once. It's annoying. FF makes good money $$$ milking people. There are no points for loyalty at Fitness First. I joined Fitness First twice with their very serious contract. Have regretted it twice. Heavy, and I'm not talking about the weights.

Positive experience: Has a pool and steam room. The gym is pretty well maintained, but I wouldn't rely on it as my primary gym as the steam room is sometimes out of order for half the day. The staff are friendly and helpful. I never got the personal training session that was included in my membership when I signed up with this gym specifically. I enjoy the RPM and zumba classes offered here.

Negative experience: Terrible. In 1 week, Lunch time the pool temporarily was close without any notice twice. I put on swimming swear and got there for nothing few weeks ago, at 7am, the coach of high school asked all the swimmers to leave the pool because they have training lesson . There are 2 swimming schools, someday the classes up to 9pm. I don’t know when members can go swimming. Gym ignored member's rights , and not respected members.

Negative experience: Very terrible experience. If there is negative rating I will give them -5 star. When I requested cancelling membership they provided misleading information and reactivated my account without any notice. If you want to cancel membership with them, please send them email instead of making phone call. They have many tricks to mislead you on phone and you will lose money. Also don’t forget to look into your bank statements for at least several months even though they have been informed of the cancellation. There is no doubt that the best way to protect your purse is not to join them at the begging.

Positive experience: I'm a gym person but I find the chatswood location is a bit too dark and doesn't have that ambiance that you might want to have. Feels like you are in a box inside the gym. Unlike the other branches which has enough natural lighting.

Negative experience: taking back my 4 star rating. this gym is horrendous. it gets too crowded and impossible to use bench press on any day. personal trainers are so arrogant and they literally try to harass u if you try to get in their way while they are training their client. by getting in their way, i mean training close to them. its a public space so it doesnt make sense. also, the front desk people lack etiquette and courtesy. one time i left my card at home so needed to tell the front desk person my mobile no. so they can sign me in, but one member in front of me literally spent 10 minutes talking to them and another person behind me jumped the queue. also, if you want to ask them anything, they act arrogant and ignore you. i literally lost my airpods pro here in the span of 1 minute as it fell out of my pocket but when i couldnt find it anywhere on the gym floor, i approached front desk but they refused to help me. anyways, the negatives outweigh the positives so these days i stopped coming to chatswood FF and I train at other FF gym and i am definitely not renewing my membership and hopefully i can find better gym deal elsewhere come this EOFY.

Negative experience: How this gym is considered platinum is beyond belief. The gym stinks, equipment is ancient, bathroom is gross and staff are not welcoming. Had absolute nightmare dealing with this gym.. Do yourself a favour and AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Negative experience: Honestly if I could give zero stars I would. This club is possibly the most disgusting, unhygienic gym in Australia. The pool side cubicles stink of stale piss constantly, bathrooms and toilets a mess. Screens broken on most of the treadmills. I realise it’s cheap but do yourself a favour and spend a few bucks more to train in a first world establishment

And the toilets get really dirty when there’re too many people.. the only reason why I give it a 4 star. Are you able to expand the space?
Fantastic experience: FF Chatswoods has all that it takes, body pump, body combat, etc., retry awesome gym. Not to mention J C (John Claude) always wears his kind smile to all, no matter what day it is and communicate to customers. Excellent customer service John!
Negative experience: I use the gym because it has a pool, somedays you turn up and learn to swim has every lane with no signage of clarification on the web site, pool side cubicles constantly smell of stale piss, ask the reception weekly to sort it. Place is a bloody shambles.
Negative experience: Absolute nightmare of a gym. The equipment is ancient, dirty, or broken/breaking/patched up and when you actually decide to leave they make it as painful as possible costing far more money than it should. It's 2023, there are far better options out there folks!
Negative experience: Squat racks floor have been damaged for over a year and they dont fix it. General cleaning is bad.

Fantastic experience: So glad I ditched my old gym and switched to Fitness First Chatswood. Highly recommend training with Liam Tai (and note: 60 years+ woman writing this). He is the bomb dot com as a trainer: polite, professional, patient. Awesome all round.
Positive experience: For such a large gym with a large pool, they need to place centrifuges in the changes rooms and fix all the unusable shower cubicles. Find a way to deter people using fire exits as homeless non members sneak in routinely.
Negative experience: Such a ridiculous gym, try their 5-day free trial, they cancelled my trial on the third day without any notice. They are not sincerely offer this trial to potential customers but want to push you make the decision. Lack of integrity, will never choose this gym.
Negative experience: Advertising everywhere, even on the mirror in front of the weights which is totally ridiculous. The equipment is sort of meh, definitely on the old side although not that bad. The worst part is there is so much space but not enough of the popular machines.

Fantastic experience: Been training here 2 - 3 years, staff are lovely. Brielle showed me how to deadlift 200kg with her tiny hands, Tara spotted me on a 20kg bench, Jc is great to talk to for exercise advise.
Negative experience: Sunday staff need to be sacked, got told over the phone we can come in for a trial. Blonde guy on afternoon shift was rude and told us no because “girl who answered the phone is new and doesn’t know what she’s talking about”. He also gave attitude to a member simply asking for a locker pass and said “everyone here steals”. If your staff don’t want to work there, get rid of them.
Fantastic experience: Love JCCCC! JC is the best receptionist. he is a legend! PT Nick is always friendly too.
Negative experience: Extremely unclean! Quite a few mosquitoes and even saw a massive cockroach the other day. It consistently smells like sweat every day of the week. Not fit for a Platinum gym.

Negative experience: Never join here. They are just waiting for you miss a payment, so that they can keep charging $10 on top of your weekly amount. Also, it's not like the gym is amazing. It's often crowded and sweat smelly. They conduct the HIIT classes in roughly 20 by 20 sq ft space between 10 people. Considering their business volume, they should at least have separate room or space for the HIIT classes. And lastly, I don't know what's wrong with the front desk lady. For no reason, she's rude and acts as if she's doing us a big time favour. There are heaps of better gyms around Chatswood with good people and better gym equipment and space. Just waiting for my contract to get over.
Negative experience: Extremely terrible fitness first. All the previous reviews you’ve read are true. Dirty, wet and mouldy bathrooms, the aircon doesn’t work, staff at the front desk are unhelpful and rude (especially Gilda). The personal trainers always using multiple pieces of equipment for long periods of time, leaving it unavailable for others to use while they’re off doing another exercise. Equipment is always broken for months, floors at the squat rack are ripped up and uneven. It seems that all of the recent 5 star reviews have nothing to actually comment about - they seem fake to me, trying to boost their terrible star rating. This gym is by far the worst FF I’ve come across. Nothing gets fixed, they know people will come here and pay the platinum price because they have no choice.

Negative experience: Reasons not the join this gym: * Constantly broken equipment * No ventilation, especially near the cardio area, fans barely helps. It’s like over 30 degrees in the gym itself. Can’t exercise because I can barely catch a breath. Even Crunch turns on their AC * Bathrooms always broken and never cleaned, it’s disgusting * The rack area, fix the floor padding, why do you just try to cover it up with mats for years, like actually replace it??? * Why is the roof always leaking? That’s a WHS issue, the gym is always so moist and prone to mould growth * This gym needs to lose its platinum status, it’s not worth it compared to other platinum fitness firsts
Negative experience: Have given up on this gym: equipment always had problems, limited opening hours on the weekend and it never felt like it was clean. Was disappointed that when I requested cancellation of my membership due to these issues I was still required to pay the notice period even though the gym didn’t provide the expected services.

Negative experience: It's pretty disappointing that this gym is Platinum, but you can't even have 24/7 access. Understand that this is highly probable it's for safety regarding supervision and pool access, but honestly, paying a premium just to be provided with regular access is sad, when I could pay a lower fee to attend another commercial gym to be disappointed in the same way. Parts of the power rack were often missing, and incredibly difficult to locate. What are we doing? I'm not trying to find Wally here, mind you. Double trouble. Imagine not just wasting your money, but also wasting your time. There was old and outdated gym equipment, how is this a Platinum gym? Are you sure you guys aren't a Passport branch? Total lack of hygiene and care towards maintenance of the bathrooms.

Negative experience: I don't know how any one can give this gym several stars. The pool is fenced off with plasterboard now, area feels really small, and full of mosquitos that are constantly trying to sting you while you workout. The equipment feels very old, can't even read the numbers on the machine, have to count the weights to figure out which weight you're sticking the pin into. Too few machines, the whole back area next to the studio is pretty much redundant now. It's really really bad, I used to be a member when it was called "Space", and when Fitness First had bought it out. It used to be pristine, but now its horrible. If all Fitness First are this bad, I'm definitely not renewing, you might as well go to a budget gym like crunch.

Negative experience: 9/11/2022 updates: I can’t believe the overcharged amount of money happened again. My normally payment day is Thursday every fortnight. Today I receive an message that I have overdue payment, which is $10 more than my normal payment. I called and they said this is penalty when I don’t have issue balance at my bank account. Exo me?? I sent my bank statement to their email and it clearly shows that I have enough balance to pay for my fortnight fee from Wed to Thur. Let’s see what they will say. This becomes ridiculous now! I went to the gym yesterday processed the membership transferring . Today I got charged $69, I call them and just be told that it is a joining fee. However, nobody told me that I need to pay extra $69 joining fee. Compared with the price, I know there is an offer for some fitness first platinum at the moment with 20% off m'ships and 4 weeks free, FF Hilton even gives me an offer without admin fee. It doesn't deserve for me to take the membership transferring with pay extra joining fee. As a previous fitness first platinum member with over 2 years experience in FF, I didn't expect I will need to repay the joining fee. I got a email said this fee cannot be waived and this makes me really angry. Please note I have the right to be told that there is sign up fee before you process my request. It’s not a good way to run business and treat your previous member.

Negative experience: This gym should not have the “platinum” tag next to it. Disgusting customer service, rude, aggressive staff. Filthy unclean gym. All the female staff at front desk has been extremely disappointing but one named “YUNA” stood out the most with her unprofessionalism. Never once was I greeted with a smile in this club. I am shocked at how unprofessional and rude this clubs staff is. I give their customer service a 0. I have trained in multiple fitness first in Sydney and this has to be the worst. Entering a filthy gym where you are greeted with aggression at entry really takes the incentive away from a workout. This has heavily impacted my workout schedule. I would just like to raise awareness to anyone reading, If you are planning to live a active life style and want to be fit, avoid fitness first Chatswood club at all cost. You’re wasting your time travelling there, just go to Willoughby or north Sydney instead.

Negative experience: No gym etiquette. PT’s kicking people off machines half way through a set when not being used for 20 mins, so they can train their clients. Then arguing with users to get off. Where’s the manners and safety? I quit my membership and use a proper weightlifting gym.
Negative experience: This is the absolute worst Fitness First I've ever trained at. It's a joke this gym is considered a "platinum" location when it's not even worthy of a bronze. I've trained at FF gyms all over Sydney and this has to be one of the worst. The trainers here constantly reserve multiple pieces of equipment with absolutely no regard to other members who are constantly struggling to find available equipment amongst an already very limited amount of free weights. They'll leave a towel or a laptop on a bench for 10 minutes effectively eliminating it from use for any other member to use whilst they're training their client on the other side of the gym - it's just rude and an extremely inefficient way of operating a gym with already limited equipment in comparison to the amount of members training concurrently. I'm constantly seeing other members looking around the gym, standing in front of a bench with a towel on it with no one to be seen, only to be greeted minutes later by a trainer and their client who appear to be "super setting" from the other side of the gym.
Fantastic experience: I love FF! Chatswood has great facilities. The pool, hot yoga, extensive group fitness and it also has a terrific remedial massage service. Aram’s yoga classes are a highlight. FF is fabulous because you have so many exercise options. I love being able to use multiple gyms depending on where I am and the classes that are on. I find my membership to be exceptional value. As a lawyer and mum of 3 - it gives me “me time” and helps keep me fit and sane!
Fantastic experience: I'm not sure what people are complaining about. I'm a member of Castle Towers and came for the premium experience. Top class facilities and very friendly staff. Worth an extra $10 every time
Positive experience: Great club with friendly and helpful staff. Class instructors are amazing, especially in the pool!! The only reason it is not 5 star is due to maintenance. There always seems to be something broken or not working and out takes ages to get fixed (showers, lifts, music and mics for instructors).
