Negative experience: Rude staff, they won’t cancel your membership and had to contact them many times. The facility is really crowded and dirty. I would rather spend an extra dollar for another gym nearby.

Negative experience: The equipments are dirty. The light is too bright and shine to your face when workout facing the ceiling. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Negative experience: I have expressed my grievance with the mould behind the water taps to the man wearing the boss lanyard, John, about this issue before. Seeing as it has not been resolved, I would like to forewarn other clients about this gross display of improper hygiene. If you’re going to be audacious enough to charge a maintenance/annual fee for gym upkeep, this should be an easy standard to uphold. Please fix this.

Negative experience: Horrible, you have to pay $15 to put your membership on hold and have to go to one of their branches to sign a form. Same as cancellation. I wouldn’t come back again.

The staff are awesome and always super friendly along with the other gym members. The gym is always clean and well maintained. It has a great set up, with up to date, easy to use and adjustable gym equipment for all fitness levels. Would definitely recommend this place.

Negative experience: They deducted my money with out my approval.i ask for refund and say they will refund me within 2 weeks, then they keep deducting my money and when I reported again they say they will refund within 2 months and now it’s been 4 months still didn’t get my money back. I’ve been chasing them and keep saying to me waiting for reply from their HQ. It’s stress me a lot even I woke up at 1am typing this issue. hope I’ll get my refund so soon thank you.

Negative experience: Pathetic and rude female manager whom i spoke to recently regarding cancellation of my membership. Asking me pay the Annual fee for the year 2024-2025 to cancel my membership for the year which i am not going to stay. Infant that female threatened me to continue my membership so that my direct debits keeps on adding up. Staff does not have any idea on how to deal with the cancellations of memberships This gym will try to loot you as much as they can when you want leave.

Negative experience: Don't sign up under their Christmas/new year deal. It's a scam. Last year, a sales rep sold me a 12 month contract under the premises of me getting 3 months free. Now the 12 months are up and the manager calls me to say that there's no record of the rep giving me 3 months for free. Instead of giving me the free 3 months, this guy tried to sell me another year.

Negative experience: Warning: Unethical Practices at Crunch Fitness Springvale I regret to share my disappointing experience at Crunch Fitness Springvale, marred by unethical practices and poor management. Upon attempting to cancel my wife’s gym membership, the gym manager cited a supposed system issue, insisting on a return visit in five days to initiate the cancellation. This contradicts Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) breaches the consumer/contract laws which clearly state that written cancellation notices should be accepted without unnecessary formalities or delays. This is what Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) stipulates about canceling gym memberships. “Consumers should be able to cancel their memberships by written notice to the health and fitness center. CAV considers that requirements to fill in specific forms and/or complete certain procedures to cancel a contract constitute unnecessary formalities and are unfair. Cancellation forms may be provided for consumers, but their use should be optional.” The gym manager’s deliberate delay tactics to extend the notice period beyond 30 days is a clear breach of consumer rights. It's evident the manager aims to exploit members by obstructing cancellation requests until the next direct debit cycle, a dishonest maneuver that goes against fair business practices. We find this dishonest behavior unacceptable. That's why we're filing a complaint with Consumer Affairs Victoria. It's not right for them to delay cancellations with fake excuses. They need a better system to handle issues and process cancellations promptly. It might take some effort, but someone has to step in to stop unfair practices at businesses like Crunch Fitness. They shouldn't get away with this. The manager's conduct was appalling, displaying a rude and unwelcoming attitude, prioritising socialising over attending to members waiting at the entrance. It's a stark contrast from the friendly demeanour during the signup process – a facade that quickly fades when attempting to cancel. My advice to potential members is to steer clear of Crunch Fitness Springvale. My experience is echoed in other negative reviews, pointing to a consistent pattern of unethical behavior and disregard for consumer rights. Don't fall into the trap I did; there are numerous reputable gyms offering better service and ethical practices. In case of issues with payments or cancellations, I strongly advise contacting Consumer Affairs Victoria to safeguard your rights. Avoid the hassle and frustrations I encountered at Crunch Fitness Springvale by choosing an establishment that respects its members and operates ethically. * I'd suggest being well-informed about your services and understanding the precise details rather than defending your staff. My wife holds a Summit membership that permits her to bring me as a guest. During her attempt to cancel the membership, I was present as Rain, the manager, displayed disrespect towards her, prompting my involvement in the situation due to the hostile environment created. * Crunch also violates consumer laws by exceeding the 30-day notice period without adjusting the last direct debit payment or refunding additional payments made by customers. Consumer Affairs Victoria acknowledge this practice as unfair. The following excerpt is from the "Preventing Unfair Terms in Health and Fitness Centers" publication by Consumer Affairs Victoria (pages 27-28, Advance Notice section), citing pertinent case law in Langley and Marix (No.2). " CAV considers that where consumers are required to give 30 days’ advance notice of their intention to cancel their memberships, the direct debit date that falls within those 30 days should be the last direct debit. In the example below, the last direct debit would take place on 1 February. The direct debit amount needs to be reduced to reflect only a further 15 days’ membership. If the adjustment cannot be processed in time, the remainder should be refunded to the consumer. Negative experience: If I was looking for a gym, I wouldn’t join crunch Springvale, It was a good gym until they went upstairs, now, and there is not enough machines to satisfy the amount of members. The members, in general, do not understand it is a shared environment, they hog machines and won’t working with people waiting. Management have been made aware of this and have done nothing but pay lip service. The gym has stupid announcements saying “no towel no work out”, what about an announcement saying “this is a shared environment, work with others waiting”

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member for 3 years and the journey has been fabulous and still is. The staff who’s at the front desk are always cheerful and welcoming, especially Niki who really stood out as she’s always so jolly, tentative and very observant. I can vouch the many members at Springvale love her presence.

There’s lots of machines with instructions if you’re not as confident, and heaps more for those who are. Nice and quiet in the mornings!

Negative experience: Came in today since I decided to get back into the gym as I have more time to do so, and being a previous member (I had terminated my account when I couldn’t come in anymore), I was shocked to hear that someone didn’t actually terminate my account. I was told that the account was not terminated and so I was given misleading information. I was told that I had to pay $140 which was half of the total amount that was overdue ($280), to resume my account. On top of that I was being told that it was my responsibility to make sure that someone else does their job and terminate my account… I did really like this gym and really wanted to go. But if it’s being run like this. I’d rather go somewhere else.

Negative experience: Terrible experience.. I have a membership and I convinced my sister to come to the gym for the first time ever! My sister tried to use her free crunch fitness gym pass available on website to try a workout and manager Rain denied entry and said that the best that they could do is a casual pass entry. Situation was handled terribly by rep Mariah being hostile. Nick rep was very friendly and explained situation clearly. Terrible Management at Crunch Springvale. Incredibly disappointing as experience had been decent so far except no WiFi. I have used other crunch fitness centres and this is not reflective at all of my experiences there. Springvale management shouldn't put reps in this position especially when this gym advertises free trials on their website.

Negative experience: Cancelling is such a hassle and even pausing the membership unlike all other gyms in Melbourne. I’ve been with other gym franchises and this gym on top of your payment has so many additional hidden costs and even if you miss one payment the dishonour fee is absurd. Such a shame because the workers are great and the equipment is good.

Negative experience: TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT CRUNCH SPRINGVALE. Contacted them five times over the last one week after I got their calls and voice mails to renew. Joined crunch Springvale in August last year on the offer of a 12 months plus 3 months membership, as I joined the gym with my husband who was already a member. I have been getting multiple calls from them regarding membership renewal. Being a full time working Nurse and mother of three school-going children, I only get a chance to go the gym 2/3 times a week and usually around their closing times. I signed up along with my husband ..... Went to the gym and spoke to Terry(or Jerry, as he doesn't wear a name tab like others) at the reception. His response was extremely unprofessional and totally unwilling to help. Wasted 15 minutes of my gym time explaining him about the membership and offer at the time of joining. Showed him the email from the manager, about 15 months membership. He totally refused to help and even ridiculed me that the manager/person who I signed up doesn't even work there anymore!! Not sure if that was my fault he never knew there was a manager called 'Matthew' worked there.. I requested him to pass on the message or make a note for the current manager. I explained to him that my work hours are monday to Saturday. He kept repeating that he will pass on the details but I need to come back and see the manager, who works only Monday to friday10-5pm, may occasionally stay up until 6pm. Further, managed to go into the gym before 6pm one day and spoke to the manager. I explained to him about my membership is not due for renewal until 15 November 2023. He asked me to forward the previous manager's email about the offer ,which I did on the spot. The email clearly shows that my husband was offered three memberships with 12+3 months free and I used one of them when I signed up last year on 14th August. This is the apalling response I've received today, after all this going back and forth over 1 week - "Unfortunately, we are not able to provide additional months based on the email transcripts provided as they do not state that you have been extended the offer at the time. We understand that you may have joined on a yearly membership at that particular time, but there is nothing more to suggest that additional bonus’ were extended to your membership. Currently, your membership is to be renewable on the 14/8/2023. We are more than happy to provide a bonus of 3 additional months when you renew and your rate will also stay the same." I wonder, HOW CAN I EVEN TRUST THEM WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN HONOUR WHAT THEY OFFERED ME LAST YEAR, WHILE I WAS JOINING!!!

Fantastic experience: I just joined this Gym about 12 weeks now and I find the equipment and staff are great. The staff is always willing to help and the new manager is very friendly and professional and he always makes me feel welcome. I am not sure why there are negative reviews about the gym and the staffs. I guessing that Karens and Ken's just can not help themselves.

Negative experience: Great facilities. Had a horrible time cancelling my membership. I pay month to month. I tried to call a week ago to cancel over the phone because I've moved to Sydney. A staff member told me that was fine, and would send me a cancellation form by email but I still haven't received the cancellation form. I got charged today and am honestly about to cry. I've called three times in total. I really don't understand why this is so difficult to do when I specifically paid month to month for easier cancellation. I've been at this gym for 1.5 years and I'm so disappointed. This is honestly extra stress that I can't deal with right now.

Positive experience: Crunch is fantastic value for money if you buy 12 months upfront. Very cheap, and a great range of quality equipment. Regarding the Springvale branch specifically, they're decent, but could do with some more of the smaller plates (10kg and below) as they're often hard to find.

I wanted to cancel membership they told me if you want to cancel your membership you have to fill out form .. so I went their gym I filled out and next day I checked my bank account they deducted extra money when I called them to refund got a reply yes we are emailing now you will get response soon that what I didn’t get .. again after one week I called them again then that lady who assisted me said I am emailing to our manager now they will revert back to you and keep checking your emails they will ask for BSB and Account number.. again I said ok .. I waited one more week butttt no reply .then one morning again I called and staff said you have to come here and talk to Manager he comes 4 days 9-5 ok I went there next day Anndddd that Manager was like so rude .. ready to eat me when I said I didn’t get revert back and I m trying from Long time he said I don’t know may be it will take 4 month may b you will not get your money because you are not the only one That what he said to me. Fantastic experience: Good facility, great value, great staff and the manager (I think he was) is really easy to deal with, just unlucky because I moved. Explains things well and will definitely be coming back if I move back this way.

Negative experience: I have been at this gym for about 2-3 years now and it’s been really good, friendly staff and all. However, recently there’s been a new staff (manager) shorter darker skinned male who has made my visits to the gym very unpleasant. He makes quite sarcastic remarks and is seemingly very rude to paying guests, interrogating our profiles as we enter the gym. Additionally, he acts quite unprofessional in terms of talking to guests and seemingly always gravitating towards female patrons making them feel very uncomfortable. Please make changes to these staff as seemingly the other reviews have had similar experience and make crunch fitness how it used to be.

Negative experience: Their gym and facilities are great. Except when you cancel your membership, they will still charge you for weeks. I cancelled mine as I have to fly interstate for months. Tried calling, emailing, got a reply that they will sort it out, but nothing was solved! Also the lady who was assisting me to fill out the cancellation form, not sure if she actually submitted it. As their customer service kinda insist that I did not fill up the cancellation form. My money has not been returned.

The reason I am giving 1 star is because the new manager at Crunch Springvale referred to me as a “dumb cunt” for placing a plyo box against a pillar for support while performing exercises. When I came over and moved it in a friendly manner he didn’t take the opportunity to acknowledge what he said or apologize. One of the staff came up to me privately to apologize later. Having the HIIT/Summit class near the stair are going to cause accident. Need to add another HIIT gym downstairs because not alot of people are going to use the grass

Yet someone started my membership and started charging my account. I have called in on the 12 January 2023 to solve this issue and I was given and email... I email and was never received a response. Today I noticed another charge to my account. Totalling over $145. I called once again today and asked to refund my money. This is a useless gym ...

Negative experience: Agree with all the other reviewers who posted negative comments. They are bunch of experienced Scammers, Please keep an eye on your accounts if you have direct debits with them. Details of my claims are as follows :- 1. I have an alternative active membership running with Anytime Fitness without any hidden charges since 2011. (Take note Crunch) 2. I signed up for an additional contract with Crunch Fitness earlier on 14 July 2021. The first payment was to be taken out on 17 July 2021. 3. Reason for signing the Contract with Crunch Fitness - The Contract with Crunch Fitness was signed considering it was Just $11.95 per week without any hidden fees, and to reunite with some old friends who were members of Crunch back than. (They also left disappointed stating cleaning standard were as bad as it possibilly could be, and the only gym who struck you with Maintainance fee, despite providing fillthy conditions and smelly toilets, no matter what time you visit them) 4. The contract was signed on a Tab. (iPad) 5. No printed copy of the contract was provided to read the terms or to take home to read by Crunch Fitness, neither it was read out by the representative. Whereas the Anytime fitness contract hard copy is still available, provided at the time of signing the contract. (Take note Crunch) 6. The contract was signed as per the special Sale Displayed by Crunch Fitness $11.95 per week only. 7. The representative confirmed with me twice that there were no hidden fees associated, as I did not want to sign up for an additional membership if it was to cost more than $11.95 per week. 8. A few months after, my account was debited with a $30 Maintenance fee, I approached the management, and they printed a blank agreement document reflecting the purported maintenance fee in a clause, suggested within the contract. 9. I went home and created an account online and printed my own contract copy there was nothing to Justify the $30 Maintenance fee. Considering it was just a matter of $30, I ignored the further conflict. 10. My Membership climbed to $13.95 from $11.95 per week without any prior notice. I approached the reception they advised that there should have been an email sent out for notification. I investigated but there was nothing (No email). I ignored the issue considering it was just a matter of $ 2 per week. 11. However, Out of fear of such a doggy representation of the business I cancelled direct debit and started paying online myself using Crunch's online portal. 12. Most recently, I was struck with an annual fee of $44.90. It was at this point I finally decided to terminate my membership with Crunch as there were supposed to be no hidden charges but $ 11.90 per week. 13. I  rang the Crunch facility, and they advised that I would need to walk into the store in order to cancel and there was no alternative way to cancel ( Imagine being overseas) 14. I walked into the facility and described all the above-given scenarios, I was advised that nothing could be done with regard to waving the hidden Charges off. 15. I asked to speak to someone from an authoritative position. the reception staff advised that there have been many cases like this and to trust them with that there would be no resolution to it. However, they could get someone to give me a call instead. (Waiting till today No calls Yet - Take note Crunch) 16. Re-confirming the effect of the appalling service to the face of the record, I requested to cancel my membership, and the staff suggested they could not cancel it unless the disputed amount is paid in full. 17.
