Fantastic experience: Awesome bouldering gym with cool people

Positive experience: This is my favourite gym in Sydney, very good setting. There wasn’t any hot water in the shower.

Fantastic experience: A fun place to boulder. While smaller that Climbfit (where I would usually climb), they seem to have about the same amount of bouldering, but more in the way of overhangs (fun!). It also seems to be a dog-friendly environment, as long as the dog knows/ learns not to go on the mats.

Fantastic experience: Excellent lolly snakes. Bouldering is pretty good too.

Positive experience: We checked out this spot called 9 Degrees Lane Cove with some friends, and it was quite the adventure! Loads of climbers were around, but it wasn't jam-packed, so we didn't have to twiddle our thumbs waiting to climb. The facilities were solid, and the staff? Super helpful! Overall, had a blast!

Fantastic experience: Great bouldering gym. All facilities are well maintained. Plenty of parking outside. You can get good coffee ☕ They change the walls every week on Wednesday. Very friendly service and are dog friendly . There is a gym to warm up/stretch as well as showers.

Fantastic experience: Total novice but I had an awesome couple of hitups in the shed here! Great to get the hang of the first couple of levels after some blood, sweat and tears. Checking out the experts in action was pretty cool as well. Friendly staff, spacious and convenient. Well worth giving a whirl.

Positive experience: Great place that’s tucked away. Unfortunate that it’s right at the back end of a business park. Very nice staff and generally fun vibe. They also have a coffee machine there so you are able to get a coffee or grab a chilled drink from the fridge. The actual bouldering walls get swapped about once every week and they always seem to be a great little challenge. Good vibes all round at this place.

Fantastic experience: Awesome place and staff, but does get busy.

Positive experience: The very busy on Thursday as they apparently change all the courses on that day. But otherwise, it was a lot of fun! Update 06/24: the change is now happening on Wednesday.

Fantastic experience: Great climbing gym with a problems for everybody with different levels of climbing ability. Parking is decent, they provide chalk and there’s shoe hire, they have a little climbing equipment store as well and sell pizza and barista coffee. Staff are friendly and helpful

Positive experience: Not the biggest bouldering land but it's not about the size of the walls it's how you use em!

Positive experience: I had a problem that took some convincing to be addressed, but they provided a solution I was happy with. +++ 1) The staff is friendly. 2) Pet friendly (on a leash if they are not trained to stay out of the mattresses. 3) Weekly reroute of a wall. --- 1) Limited parking, not a problem if you go during lunch on a workday or early on the weekend. 2) I've been to smaller places in the UK with a lot more routes. Australian regulations might be to blame here? 3) If you want to buy shoes you are better off going to their Climbing Anchors shop in Alexandria where you can actually try shoes without voiding the return policy.

Fantastic experience: First timer. Friendly staff, helpful guidelines and the crowd was well mannered and safe. Shoes for hire and first timers get a free week of free shoe hire. Will definitely be returning. Loved it. People of all levels can enjoy.

Fantastic experience: Lane Cove 9 degree is one of my favourite bouldering places! It has overhangs and dogs! Sometimes cats and rabbits too!

Positive experience: For the most part a pretty good bouldering gym, the routesetting was fun, the environment is nice, my only real complaint is the use of a colour-based grading system, which means that certain grades have very obvious "styles", the best example for me being pink, which wouldn't be great if you're not a huge fan of very big rounded holds.

Positive experience: There is a lot to like about this 9 Degrees location - the routes are fun, the staff are super lovely and really helpful, the shop is a great addition, and in general there is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The issue is the safety mats, as they're uneven and full of dips. Both times I've visited, someone I've been with has hurt an ankle not from climbing, but just from stepping on the wrong place on a mat. They really need to be replaced. If you're going, make sure you climb all the way back down (don't jump) and tread carefully. I'll happily update or remove this review if they fix this, as have nothing else bad to say about the place.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place! I am new to climbing and this place has me absolutely hooked on the sport! Staff are lovely, routes have lots of variety, the people are very friendly and social, and the vibes are an all time high.

Fantastic experience: Great bouldering gym, a large assortment of climbs from simple to nearly impossible. The teal coloured climbs are psrticularly fun. Facilities provided are great and I have never been to a gym where you get free liquid chalk. There are plenty of lockers to store your belongings. Staff are friendly, chatty and courteous, made induction a breeze.

Negative experience: The parking lot in Lane Cove gym is so tiny, it’s around 10 car spots for a gym with around 50+ people inside. Approximation, but you get the gist. I didn’t expect that. I had a class scheduled and arrived on time for the class, only to be cruising around the business park with the class already started because the parking lot (all 10 spots) was full. Despite a vast empty territory, all other parking spots at the business park, which were aplenty, were marked reserved by other businesses, so I was just wasting more and more of the class time driving in desperate circles and then just waiting in my car for somebody to leave 9 degrees. This was my first time bouldering and first time in 9 degrees and I feel it could be such a happy experience if not for the poor administration and lack of customer care. Instead, it was tainted with a lot of stress, frustration and desperation. They didn’t care to provide more parking space for the climbers (and it’s very difficult to get there by public transport), nor did they care about warning first-timers about difficulty with parking, nor did they offer me a make up for their mishap by, for example, offering me half an hour in a future session for free, since I missed so much of it (30 min). The coach was so kind, he worked extra 15 min with me, after others had left. I didn’t know about that all that hour when I was trying to focus on his explanations feeling stressed, disappointed and robbed of my time all the way. I have still lost some of the precious coaching time that I am sure would be helpful for me as a beginner. I am giving it 2 stars for now for all the stress and frustration I got. I might up it later as I get to know this place more.

Positive experience: Blochaus Marrickville is still my favourite bouldering gym in Sydney, but 9 degrees lane cove has such a great vibe. People are really friendly and it’s really awesome and welcoming. I only go here when my friends are busy, and I don’t want to pay the toll to drive over the harbour to Blochaus; but maybe I’ll try to drag my friends here some time because the vibe is so good

Fantastic experience: Great gym! Friendly staff, cool vibe. Hard routes. The shop is pretty well stocked too. As others mentioned, parking can be an issue during busy periods. Resets happen on Wednesdays, so avoid Wednesday nights if you like a quieter, more chill session.

Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, 2 sections tend to be reset every week. It's great for beginners as well as those who are more experienced. If you are into climbing, give this gym a shot, you won't regret it.

Positive experience: Google map showed us to the wrong entrance to the back of 9 degrees. Actually, you had to go through Mars Road, then turn left at Subway. The entrance was a bit hard to locate as well. As a beginner at bouldering, I got tired within 30 minutes.

Fantastic experience: Cool facility. Their board was out of order at the time. But it still did the trick. Grades are kinda so so... the mixed climbs are fun. Overall, not too bad. Also the free chalk is a cool initiative other gyms don't have.

Positive experience: Love this bouldering gym. It has everything you need, free chalk, food, great walls and amazing people. The only downside is it's location can be a bit daunting to get too, but if you're ever in the neighborhood you should definitely go. And if you've been to any of the other 9 degree gyms you already know what to expect.

Fantastic experience: This is my nearest climbing gym. Love coming here after work and climbing for a few hours a couple times a week. It's very clean, very accessible and has loads of different climbs for climbers of different skill levels. Loads of space to make sure it next feels packed
