Negative experience: Worst gym ever! I can’t wait to cancel my subscription. The staff closes the doors even half an hour before official closing time. There is always machines out of service and pool out of service for a year, that’s crazy. My first subscription was just for a month and they didn’t cancel it so I was charged for many weeks out of the agreement. Absolutely disappointing experiences is everything I get from this gym.

Positive experience: I visited the gym for the first time recently, the equipment was poorly maintained and dirty, it lacked the cleanliness and organization I expected. Negative experience: First of all Fitness First the so called Gym think they are a premium gym in Australia but in reality they are the bottommost gym with not too many branches available not even 24hrs charging way too much than other gym with 1000 times better facilities.No proper information from the staffs, unprofessionalism at its peak. I am done with this place even before starting. Few of the branches closes at 8pm now what do they want finish job at 5 fly to the gym and workout with 2x speed!! Not recommended at all.

Fantastic experience: On my journey of seeing as many fitness first clubs as i can with 3mth platinum Fitness First Membership. So reasonable $480. Had three great workouts. I love the entrance, the tall ceilings, huge open gym floor space and range of gear to play with. Parking is so easy - mirrors everywhere for spot checking and a pool.

Negative experience: I don't recomend this gym, just for upgrade my membership to use other fitness first they extended my contract 1 Year without saying that for upgrade my membership willl get extended under a new contract now I have to pay a fee to get out of this gym that anyway its not good, There is a lot better gyms in the area, don't use this one.

Negative experience: **Incident Report: Concerns Regarding Gym Facilities and Customer Service** I am writing to report a series of concerning experiences at your gym. Firstly, I encountered unprofessional behavior from both the manager and staff, who were notably rude during my interactions. Additionally, the sauna at your facility has a significant odor problem and is unhygienic. I had paid for a three-month membership, but decided to visit the gym before my membership commenced. During this visit, I noticed the unpleasant smell in the sauna despite some recent renovations. Following this, I decided to cancel my membership and contacted the gym on the second day to do so. The cancellation was initially agreed upon. However, about a week later, I received a call requesting that I visit the gym to meet with the manager, as they would not process my refund unless I did so. Upon arrival, I was informed by the receptionist that the manager was unavailable. I explained that I was there because of the call I received. One of the staff members went to check and then informed me that the manager refused to meet with me. This was confusing and frustrating as I had been explicitly asked to come in for this meeting. After insisting, the manager finally came out, but she was visibly angry and began shouting at me, demanding that I leave or she would call the police, falsely accusing me of shouting at her and the receptionists. This aggressive confrontation left me feeling deeply upset, although I managed to stay composed. It is evident that the manager's actions were a retaliatory response to my membership cancellation. This entire experience reflects poorly on the gym's customer service and management practices. The issues with the facility's cleanliness and the unprofessional behavior of the staff are unacceptable and should be addressed promptly. Negative experience: This gym has gone down big time, is like management doesn’t care anymore ( if they ever cared) The pool has been closed for over 6 month and management doesn’t even know when it will be fixed. There isn’t any classes early in the morning to do before work, everything start after 9 am, they used to have earlier classes before covid, but after covid the reduced the classes and they never went back to normal. The quality of the equipment is also going down, equipment is old and often out of order, so if you join be ready to wait 15+ min for machines to be available. The facilities overall leave a lot to wish for in terms of maintenance and cleanliness specially in bathrooms and relaxation areas, and unlikely in all other fitness first gyms, here the the members card don’t lock the lockers, so be sure you carry your own lock .

Negative experience: Service here is disappointing! I called them regarding my membership, they did not help at all and told me they will call me back. Never called me back! The equipment is old and half of them is out of order. Lockers are 90% out of order! Pool has been under construction for more than 6 months now and not open yet! Do not recommend joining this gym

Negative experience: Worst gym. But feel free to join if you enjoy a facility where; no towels are used, no weights are put back, deodorant is foreign to most, machines look like they were rescued from garbage collection day, and likely require a hazmat suit in the feral toilets. If you like all of the above, it’s 10/10.

Negative experience: If there was an option to give zero stars, I would have chosen it. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I don’t recommend anyone to become member at Rockdale. I recently faced a problem with this gym's cancellation policy, and I'm disappointed. I wasn't informed about the 30-day notice requirement. I feel the policy should be re-evaluated since it wasn't properly communicated during sign-up. I'm disappointed with the lack of response to my feedback. It’s been 3 days. What's the point of providing feedback if there's no accountability?

Negative experience: No airconditioning and they keep increasing the price. Machines haven't been updated since the gym opened. The dumbbells never get put back in place. The car park is full from local business not gym goers. Has potential to be a good gym but HQ are more concerned about keeping the profits and not investing it back into the gym.

Negative experience: My experience at this gym was not good and I don’t recommend anyone to become a member at Rockdale. The employees are liars and when you try to cancel, they don't give you attention. I tried to talk in person with Natalie or Hussein because we had an agreement and they didn't want to answer me and made up the excuse of being in a meeting, a lot of lack of respect and consideration! The cancellation fees are absurd and you can see that they are only interested in your money because they don't make a point of informing you about cancellation fees when you are signing up. They told me that in 1 month the pool would be working and it has been 3 months and the pool is still closed (another lie). Half of the weight machines are old and dirty. People use it and don't clean it after finish training. Stuffy place and dirty bathrooms. To conclude, they are very kind on the first day when you go to sign up, but after you become a member your questions are not answered and they still treat you badly and frown just because you are requesting the cancellation.

Positive experience: Unusually quiet for a Fitness First. The high ceiling makes for a very open feeling, with equipment in good condition and a friendly staff to compliment your workout. Four stars because the shared relaxation space can get too crowded toward the end of the day and there is often a slightly unclean feeling due to so many people there.

Negative experience: Don’t get a membership; worst gym ever. Dirty place, toilets very dirty, equipment isn’t well-maintained; often they are out of service. Staff are very rude. My membership only allowed access to Rockdale, then someone in Maroubra canceled my membership. I noticed that when my card wasn’t working, I asked one member of the staff, and he said that it was their mistake, and because of that, I would get one week free. Okay, two weeks later, my card wasn’t working, and I asked the staff. The girl wanted to charge me extra money, and I didn’t get my week free. She called her manager; he was extremely rude with me when I asked why someone could cancel others' membership, that the gym system wasn’t safe. Anyway, before going to this gym, please read the reviews.

Negative experience: Unprofessional Conduct and Disregard for Member Comfort I am compelled to share my recent distressing experience at fitness first that has prompted me to reevaluate my longstanding membership. My father, a gym-goer for many years, was subjected to highly unprofessional conduct by a staff member named John. During closing hours, John forcibly entered the shower area, pushing my undressed father out despite a polite request for just two more minutes. This incident not only reflects a severe lapse in staff professionalism but also highlights a complete disregard for member comfort and well-being. As someone who has been a loyal member for over a decade, with children attending swimming lessons, I am deeply disappointed. I believe such behavior is inexcusable and should not be tolerated in any establishment. I hope the gym management takes swift and appropriate action to rectify this situation and maintain the gym's reputation for providing a safe and respectful environment for its members. Authorities have been involved and the security did admit to these actions of course my father did repel in harsh language due to the outrageous issue… please do better for other clients as you have lost a long lasting client

Negative experience: I am a new member in this gym, only 2 weeks have been passed since I signed up. I have had a terrible experience with one of the staff members, her name is Amelie. I have 3 Complementary Guest Passes that says I am allowed to bring any friend or family member. I brought a friend who is interested to join the gym. I wanted to use one of the Complementary passes I have. She spoke to us in a very rude way and denied his access and called me a LIAR because he doesn’t look very interested to join the GYM from how she see it! She treated us in a very disrespectful way. She also refused to give me the manager’s name to talk to. I will cancel this membership 100%! Once you are a member with them you will be treated badly because they guaranteed your weekly payment!

Also called for a cancellation, they said they’d cancel it for me but it wasn’t done so now I have to pay an extra week because of their incompetence. Negative experience: Over the course of my membership, I encountered several issues that significantly impacted my satisfaction. The cleanliness of the facility left much to be desired. Additionally, the time spent searching for a locker was excessive, and the gym's interior was uncomfortably hot during the summer, with an air conditioning system that seemed ineffective. The fans, unfortunately, did not work at all. Following my decision to cancel my membership, I encountered further frustration. Not only did I incur a penalty, but an additional charge was mistakenly deducted from my account. Despite my efforts to address this issue, I have yet to receive a refund one month later. The lack of transparency and timely resolution is disconcerting. Furthermore, the management's response to these concerns has been unsatisfactory, marked by repeated excuses and a perceived lack of accountability. I believe it is crucial to address these issues promptly to improve the overall experience for your members.

Negative experience: Need a new management team asap! Someone that really cares about this place!!! I am going to this gym for almost 2 years because it is close to home and it has a nice open space but the gym never gets better, small improvements were done but it is still not enough considereing the situation of this place. Fitness First Rockdale this place is a shame for the brand's name, completely deprimental for the brand. If the management team is too busy to think about it, please find a MUST DO LIST below: - Change room are always dirty - Toillet always smelly, worst than any public toilet in Australia. - Tissue paper can be found every where on the floor - Shower walls need a deep cleanning asap - New mats required asap, current ones are disgusting - Weight are very old and damage - Equipments maintenace are not done frequent enough - Weights are left every where, you are lucky if you find them for tranning - Dirty tissues can be found in almost all machines and around the gym floor - Men wearing only underwear around sauna and steam room area all the time - Relaxing area needs a deep cleaning asap - Swinning pool is closed for a long time now - Gym is closed when a heavy rain comes, it rains every where inside the gym floor and you need be careful to don't hit a bucket while walking around on the next day or step into a wet carpet. And I could keep going for hours here!

Positive experience: An open gym with lots of room and upbeat, approachable trainers. Good range of equipment, though some could use a refresh or upgrade. Locker rooms are not the cleanest. The lockers have recently been upgraded to padlocked, not card tap and go locks like most other fitness firsts, so bring a padlock or purchase one.

Negative experience: : Misleading and Unethical Practices I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with fitness first Rockdale. I signed up for a gym membership based on the information provided to me by their staff, only to later discover that I had been seriously misled. The staff assured me that canceling my membership would be straightforward and cost-effective, but this turned out to be completely false. When I tried to cancel my membership, I was hit with unexpected and exorbitant cancellation fees that were never mentioned during the sign-up process. Furthermore, I was given incorrect information about the terms and conditions of the membership, and when I raised these issues with staffs], they were unhelpful and dismissive. This type of dishonesty and lack of transparency is inexcusable. Fitness first should be upfront with their customers, providing clear and accurate information about their memberships and cancellations. Their misleading practices and hidden charges have left a sour taste in my mouth. I strongly advise potential members to be cautious when dealing with this gym. There are plenty of other fitness centers that are more honest and customer-friendly. My experience with fitness first has been a costly and frustrating one, and I cannot recommend this gym to anyone I wish I could give 0 stars thank you for nothing .

Negative experience: Service was reasonable. Facilities is not maintained at all. Showering facilities were the worst, users of this gym would have to agree. Shower doors were broken or missing. Tap were malfunctioned. Touch anywhere it feels like a thick layer of slime, not even kidding. Hairdryer either cracked or parts missing. Gym equipments all over the place. Doesn't matter if you come in the morning or night, the dumbbells on racks are never in a pair, lol. Want a better experience, drive to FF Sylvania.

Negative experience: Recently had a 5 day free trial at this filthy disgusting gym.. when the staff asked what I thought and if I wanted to join, I mentioned the lack of cleanliness being off putting and the staff told me I couldn’t finish my 5 day free trial and I was no longer welcome as I thought the gym was dirty. Way to impress a prospective member guys. How rude!! I highly recommend some customer service training for the pumped up numb nuts on the front desk by the name of Huss!

Negative experience: About 4/200 of the mens lockers actually have doors on them or work. Have been coming here for about 1.5 years because i live just around the corner and in the hopes that they fix it in that time. Such an inconvenience that has never been fixed so I'm now discussing a membership with Plus Fitness and the UFC gym down the road.

Negative experience: It was my worst decision to sign up for a program with Rockdale branch. Without even trying out they started charging my account on top additional charge which I had no idea about. The timings were informed wrongly both by the staff and manager himself. I asked for a refund and I had to literally fight to get it credited on my account with frequent follow up calls, emails most of it was attended with neglect, calls were disconnected without consent by the staff and the person followed had zero manners to explain the situation or apologise. Totally insensitive customer service, impolite reception handling, worst and worst service to be just fair. Wouldn't suggest this place for anyone or will think twice before joining with Fitness first brand itself, pathetic !

Fantastic experience: I have been an on-an-off member for almost 20 years, it's a great facility with friendly staff, a good amount of group fitness classes and fantastic person trainers. Give them a chance, and you won't regret it.

Negative experience: Unfortunately it became a completely mess in terms of gym floor. You can't find weights. The customers don't consider the others, they leave all plates, dumbbells, bars around of the floor. I've being a member for few years, it is getting worse every week.

Negative experience: Watch out for the 4 weeks free the offer isnt honoured and no one there cares to correct the issues. Changerooms are the worst I've even seen, doors all missing off lockers and sitting around the place, much nicer gyms around for this price.

Negative experience: This place deserves a negative rating. Absolutely ridiculous. Worst worst worst decision to sign up here. I told them I do not want to continue after I finish my contract and it is bloody too hard to cancel. Requested to cancel the play like they are cancelling and them ignore you completely and keep repeating the same action over and over. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE AS IT ONLY FOCUS IN SIGNING YOU UP AND DO NOT LET YOU CANCEL. After a long wait finally, the manager emailed me saying he never knew my case which is now cancelled with no refund. This place is horrible they do not care at all. SHAMELESS AND DISHONEST BUSINESS.

Negative experience: Sales staff harrass you once they get your details with cheap tacky sales pitches, deals always going to end within a week. Don't remove you from list when requested. Painful. Particularly as facilities are average at best, dirty and poorly maintained.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at this gym that stands out from other gyms I've been to in the past. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the manager, Omar, was very attentive and helpful in explaining the different membership plans available and helping me choose the best one for my needs. The gym itself is very spacious and has a great selection of equipment, making it easy to get a good workout in. I particularly enjoyed using the swimming pool, which was impressively clean and well-maintained. The steam room and sauna were also great amenities, especially during the colder months. Additionally, the gym has ample parking spaces available in front, which is a big plus. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at the First Fitness Gym in Rockdale. The positive environment, great facilities, and attentive staff made my workout very comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a quality fitness experience.

Negative experience: The pool is super dirty, and busy, The shower door are super old, and not very clean, but the most difficult part is how hard is to cancel a membership. They are not happy that you offer to pay the high cancelation fee ($295), they also want a cooling off period to 30 days for you to cancel (keep this in mind, when you are cancelling your membership). So the cancellation fee is actually 295 + 30 extra days (4-5 weeks). The hardest part, is that they are not "allowed" to cancel the membership (even though the website is saying to call to cancel), because a "manager" is not present in the gym. Why is that not a clause in the contract that for cancelation you need to be "luck" enough to have a manager in site? Why is this not available at the website? This is awful, the customer service is pretty bad (always keep you on hold for over 20 minutes, if not hung up while you are on hold), and to make it worse, they didn't even gave me a membership card after 2 months of membership. (as the machine was broken). What do they do with that money? I just wish there were better gyms in Rockdale with a swimming pool available, so we didn't have to deal with this poor customer service from Fitness First "stealing your money" with their pretty unfair contracts. Lesson of the day: Never signup for a gym membership, if they don't have a membership outside a contract, just don't do it. More or less, use the water centre nearby instead of a gym, You pay per visit (much cheaper), the pool are not just bigger, bur also cleaner, the showers are better, and the customer service is always great.

Negative experience: On the plus side, the staff are friendly and do their best, but the place is in disrepair, the equipment is really old, roughly 75% of the lockers don't work, it's far too busy in peak hours and get they are often trying to get you to give your friends phone numbers out to get more members. The place needs a lot of work to get it up to a decent standard. Won't be staying here after my contract ends.

Fantastic experience: Nice clean gym with great facilities and machines. Does get busy at times but if your schedule is flexible, there are times when it's less busy. Parking can be a challenge depending on your timing throughout the day. The front staff always have a friendly smile and greet you upon entering and leaving the premises

Negative experience: If i could leave no stars i would. Absolutely the worst gym i've been to. Every equipment is outdated and old. There is 0 maintenance done in this gym. This gym really hinders the brand of fitness first. They really need to get their act together, and will not return and will advise others to not bother coming to this one. The gym has: - 80% broken lockers - Poor yoga instructor that doesnt know what she is doing - Equipment missing parts so can't use - Pool looks disgusting

Negative experience: Slow to do anything, what do I pay for. Asked for two weeks for the sauna timer to be fixed so that it doesn't turn off at 9pm rather 10pm and do anything. Lockers are in a state of dismay.

Negative experience: READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU SIGN UP I have called...6 times since I asked for my membership to be cancelled on the 19th of January. Everytime, the staff have been nice, saying that they will refer this on to Mark (club manager, I assume) who was not in when I called. I even spoke to Mark and he apologised for the inconvenience and said he would sort this out for me that afternoon and ask debit success to stop asking me for payments. I'm still waiting for my membership to be canceled. I'm disgusted at the level of either lack of competency or lack of care from the club at sorting this out for me. All I can say is I am very thankful to the person who signed me up and accidentally typed in my account details incorrectly into the system. So instead of the money actually being taken, debit success is just continues to ask me for the money. I shudder to think how hard it would be to actually get my money back from them if they took it. I looked at the reviews on google and saw that my story is not an exception, it is the rule. Which has only taught me to always read reviews before signing anything.

Negative experience: HORRIBLE AND DIRTY PLACE I came for free trial, it was the worst gym I've ever seen. Shower doors are missing, locker room 80% of locks does not work. And most of the doors are missing. Horrible smell of urine. And then management dare to call and ask if I wanna join. What a joke for 24$ a week

Negative experience: The gym is big and has plenty of equipment. Having said that, the whole thing is falling apart! The roof leaks every time it rains, the free weights zone is a mess, dumbbells are left everywhere, disorganized, and staff don’t seem to care, they just let the mess run loose. The lack of maintenance and care is awfully evident. The locker rooms feel dirty, and you’d be lucky to find a locker that works and is available (or even has a door to it) The swimming pool is dirty and the pool walls have black mould clearly seen growing on the edge of the water, and the bottom is full of “particles” Lastly, some personal trainers wear way too much parfum or cologne and the whole place reeks to creed aventus (sometimes you can smell this person from outside the gym. It’s really uncomfortable to train around them It’s a real shame because the gym has good parking and has the potential to be a great gym, sadly, it seems neither staff nor members seem to take care of the place.

Negative experience: Poorly maintained gym. Two thirds of the lockers don’t even lock up and it’s been the case for months and months. Dirty and old gym equipment as well, some buttons on the treadmill dont even work. The only good thing is location if you’re a local and the pool.

Negative experience: You guys must be joking. Do you call this a gym? One forth of lockers don't have doors, doors just sitting on the floor nearby. Out of remaining lockers, half is not working. Another half is taken. Shower: strong smell, but that's more about people rather than the place. No proper air conditioning in group fitness studio. In such a heat outside, that's a torture to stay till the end of the class. To tell you a secret, no one cares. Me neither.

Negative experience: I wish I could give minus stars to this gym. They will assist you until you are a member.if you wish to cancel the membership. They will keep on giving pretext that they can’t cancel, manager not in today, we cannot do the cancellation right now. After calling 100 times if you get to talk with manager, manager will say will call you back for refund tomorrow, later today blah blah blah. Finally you’ll have to forget about the refund. Worst service received ever!

Negative experience: I paid for a short membership, which they overcharged me for. I called in excess of ten times to get this sorted and to get my money back, and also went into the gym to speak to someone. I was promised a call back each time regarding what could be done about a reimbursement, I never received anything. I kept calling and the topic was danced around without a refund ever being issued, until I finally gave up. It’s disappointing how people’s money can be taken easily but to get it back is a real effort.

Negative experience: Horrible experience in cancelling membership. Filthy gym and poorly managed staff who just give you the run around or palm it off on someone else. We cancelled the membership and are now getting harassed by debt collectors for membership fees despite cancelling. Do not recommend. We are putting in a complaint with FairTrading.

Negative experience: They just got rid of 6 new clients! My parents and 4 of their friends were looking to find a local swim place. I was nominated to show them where it is and what to expect as their English is not the best. They reasured us that first session was free. But when I told staff that I was a member 10 years ago they refused my free entrance! Even that it was ages ago ! Really dump policy! They just lost 6!! New local clients ! And after they kicked us out they are still calling me to buy a fkn membership and inviting us to join ! Shame shame shame !

Negative experience: Useless and disorganised gym who lose contracts and keep passing you onto other useless staff. They also continually try to charge you, after you cancel and conveniently say they never received the cancellation request. Avoid like the plague.

Negative experience: My friend and I went to your gym on October 9th and told the front desk that we are only taking a sauna, because we are not members, and the fee is $25 per person. We changed our swimsuits to find out that the sauna and steam didn't work, we are nearly 70 years old, froze for 50 minutes and still not fixed. So we went to the front desk to report, the front desk said that the refund would be given to us, asked me for my bank account, and said it would be credited within 10 days. But two weeks later, the money has not arrived, I don't know why.

Fantastic experience: Tried out the gym last week, after viewing the gym in person and checking the club reviews, I do have to say that the gym is not as bad as expected. Being a boxer I enjoyed the sauna, steam room pool facilities and will potentially look at coming here more often. Staff are very approachable and helped me figure out where everything in the gym was as it was quite big :)

Negative experience: I’ve had the same poor experience with contract cancellation and being overcharged by Fitness First Rockdale. Edit: I’ve now been refunded the overcharge and re-rating up to reflect that. My original criticisms about lack of communication and the hassle of having to chase various people for weeks remain.

Saying that the manager will contact us, after several phone calls and emails. It never happened!! Negative experience: Worst gym I have ever been to, awful experience. Think twice before sign a contract here, the staff gives incorrect information to customer about plans and cancellations and when ou need any kind of assistance they're never available or act like doing you a favor. Poor customer service, not even the manager is able to do his job without being rude. Do yourself a favor and train in another place.

Negative experience: My husband left my headphones for a bit in the gym area and when he came back it wasn’t there anymore, he thought he just left it in the car. So when he checked the car and it wasn’t there he was positive that he left it in the gym. He reported it. The manager showed my husband a clip of the CCTV but showed no further details. He just showed a certain time and stopped at a certain time too. Not showing all the other angles. He is covering something up, and is tolerating thieves in the club. He wouldn’t show other footage and full coverage. He let this pass just by saying he couldn’t no anything. If you cannot feel safe with small things in that branch how can you trust them with bigger things. It is all over the club that the place is laced with CCTV but when needed they cannot make good use of it. I HOPE THE MANAGER WILL NOT CONDONE AND TOLERATE THIS ACT BECAUSE WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED!
