Negative experience: Very bad experience, and specially poor administration. I was offered free training sessions at the time of signing up, and never got all of those. They keep me charging money every week, it’s useless for me to have a membership without any knowledge of working out. The administration doesn’t care about the members. They don’t have a plan to manage the members. Very disappointed

Negative experience: I’ve been talking to the team for many days just to get my membership cancelled. They are just stretching the conversation and acting like they don’t get what I am talking about when I’ve been clear that I want to permanently cancel my membership as I have to urgently fly to my home country for an emergency and I don’t think I’ll be coming back to Australia soon. I got my last money in my Australian bank account. They are asking me to pay $2.5 for every week for a “temporary freeze” and send me the invoice for it. They didn’t even acknowledge the “cancel” and send me the invoice for “freeze” directly. I literally begged them to cancel my account as it’s my last money. Now they are asking me to pay half of the membership agreement when I joined for a year membership and now it has been 2 years or more. It’s so disappointing and frustrating. Like people are struggling with death and these guys don’t even have a heart.

Negative experience: Joined the gym for few years. Tried to cancel my membership . D gym manager asked for 30 days cancellation fee despite agreement states 14 days, then he honored the agreement . Later on, M cluster manager for casey and gungahlin send requesting for 30 days cancellation.beware of your cancellation terms. Issue sits with ACT fair trading .

Negative experience: Very hard to cancel memberships

Negative experience: Some kind of scam going on, I joined, but hard to get out, i am not even sure how they get 4.4rating , very unclean, and it must be self review! It is almost impossible to cancel the membership, while Club Lime is very simple process, I have been dealing with Reuben Perry | Assistant Club Manager very rude and very unprofessional. they are running very doggy business, and I am also writing to ACCC.

Fantastic experience: I used to be very anxious walking into gyms, I went to club lime twice and was very nervous. Walking in to anytime fitness I felt at ease straight away. Now the gym is my happy place, I go 5-6 days and always leave feeling phenomenal.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, good value for money. Spacious, plenty of racks and barbells. Even during peak hours, it's never hard to get the free weights you're after. They've got at least one of just about every pin machine you could ever want, including seated and standing/laying variants of calf raises and leg curls. They have just about every cable attachment you could ever want, and the stretching/warmup room has a ton of foam rollers, medicine balls, ab wheels, ropes, etc. It gets pretty crowded during peak hours, but it's not common to be standing around waiting for equipment so no stress. I've worked out at a wide range of times, from early in the morning to past midnight and I've never felt like there was a rough crowd. Couple of minor negative points that are worth noting: 1. Some of the equipment is definitely ageing. The V-Bar rowing attachment for example has had the majority of the knurling worn down and is smooth, and other cable attachments are pretty worn/damaged. Leather on some of the machines is clearly frayed and one or two machines have been out of order just about every time I've been there. They do get fixed though. 2. The signup deal I used had 3 free PT sessions. A PT reached out to me to organise, but went silent before we were able to organise a time. I didn't really try to chase him since I wasn't too concerned about having a PT train me, but if this is a big deal for you, it may be worth noting. 3. Choice of music is terrible, but it's a commercial gym, that's what you'd expect. Overall, I'm very happy.

Positive experience: I've been going to this gym for 2+ years now and I really like the amount of equipment available here, as well as the kindness of the staff who run this place. Although it can get a bit busy in the evenings, it's pretty great if you're looking for a good gym apart from issues I've stated below. I've noticed over the past couple of months (April 2024) that it is difficult to breathe while being in the building because of poor ventilation. Even with exercises that don't normally put me out of breath, it's still hard to breathe properly, which isn't an issue at the other Anytime Fitness gyms across Canberra (Mitchell, Casey) I think most machines are well maintained unless they are broken. The ones that are broken take very long to be fixed (The hip abductor machine was broken for 4 months). Otherwise, it is clean and weights are re-racked neatly most of the time. The only thing that isn't that clean are the bathrooms. As a point of warning for any readers interested in this gym, it might cost you an arm and a leg to cancel your membership or to get a new key for entering. The lock-in contract is for one whole year, with a hefty cancellation fee. Also, I've personally lost my key a couple of times and had to fork over $70 for a new one. For a small key with a code for a membership you are already paying for, this seems like a steep asking price. It's a gym with lots of stuff, but other parts are a bit rough.

Fantastic experience: Was my first time going to the gym in a long while. Went from dad bod too fit within a year. Dean was a great motivational coach and shook off all the rust in my lifting techniques.

Negative experience: Spend a little extra money and go to a decent gym. I've been going to various gyms in Canberra for over 10 years, and never have I been to one that is so regularly and disgustingly unclean. The bathrooms and change facilities are always wet, stinky, and are generally unpleasant to use or be near. The equipment areas frequently run out of sanitising wipes, and old, crusty wipes are usually scattered around the gym and equipment. The machines, while there is good variety, are very old, and are frequently broken and take a long time to be repaired. For example, the hip abductor/adductor has been broken for close to 4 months straight, and frequently out of order before that. I feel the constant need to wipe/clean my hands after touching literally any piece of equipment, such as bands, weight plates, or exercise matts, due to the visible filth on them. Staff may be welcoming at the door, but are completely hostile if you have any complaint or issue. Terrible customer service, and god help you should you ever try to leave this awful gym. Getting an appropriate response from management is like pulling teeth. They hide behind their dodgy contract terms and ignore you, all while continuing to charge fees. If you want any chance of getting out of your contract without exorbitant fees, you’ll need a sucker friend that you can foist your remaining term onto. I was also given 3 free PT sessions as a part of a sign-up bonus. The PT didn’t show up to the first scheduled sessions, and they later said they’d contact me to reorganise, and I never heard from them again. Like many other negative comments on here, the management will either ignore it or respond saying they’ll use that feedback to improve things, but nothing will change. I'd recommend literally any other gym.

Negative experience: They lure you with free membership and then lock you into a 12 month contract that the staff forgets to mention while you’re signing the contract. They push and push knowing no one reads the contract and get you to sign a contract. Very unethical business practice. They’ll make it as difficult as possible to cancel just like others have said.

Negative experience: Gym is putrid. Toilets are disgusting, toilet paper and rubbish all over the area. Bins over flowed and rubbish overflowing, Pay for a gym and it’s filthy

Negative experience: Whenever, I have engaged with this people, they cheated by asking me to sign the credit card details without telling me it’s a 12 month contract. I haven’t use this service for more than 10 months. They are trying not to cancel my membership and keep charging me $36 / a week for more than 10 months now with no service provided. I would not recommend this Gym for anyone ever. My issue has not been resolved yet. I haven’t received a cancellation notice yet, and your company still smash my account by $36 a week for service never been used since 22/3/2024 how awful is that!

Negative experience: Shady business I'm trying to leave this gym, and it's extremely hard to get a response from the admin. I've been to other gyms in Canberra, and I could process cancellation on the day. But this gym is taking a few days now and I have to actively follow them up. I could see other reviews/postings talking about the same experience. This practice really needs to be taken to the ACCC.

Gungahlin has everything a gym could need & have from free weights to machines & best of all friendly staff members that will assist you anyway they can !!! Negative experience: Will offer lots of little things to join and then lock you in once joined. They make it very difficult to leave by dodging phone calls, redirecting to emails, etc. Same with friends who are members as well as staff - say the managers have bullied them and won't let them leave once joined. Avoid at all cost. They will do everything in their power to lock you in and take your money. Friendly people up until you want to leave.

Fantastic experience: This AF gym is conveniently located in the heart of Gunghalin. It’s a large gym with modern decor, & a variety of equipment. It’s always clean, the air conditioning works well, and has super friendly staff & great atmosphere!

Fantastic experience: Great gym. I usually go after 9 so i can avoid the peak hour traffic. Usually quieter around that time. Lots and lots of equipment. I Just get good vibes and positivity when i visit this place. After 3 years of not going to the gym I had thought that the transition would be difficult but the amazing staff and services have seemed to make it really easy. I would highly recommend this place. The favorite thing for me are the multiple options available for everything and the fact that i don’t have to wait for any equipment to be free around the time that i go to work out.

Negative experience: I joined Anytime Fitness Gungahlin in early July 2023 for the benefit of first six weeks of free membership, and cancelled my membership during the cooling-off period. However, the club charged me for the three- weeks of membership. I contacted the gym numerous times and requested the refund. But they never refunded it for the last 6 months. So I lodged a complaint to 'the ACT Office of Fair Trading', and they contacted the Gym "yesterday". SURPRISINGLY, I got refunded "today". I know there are so many people who have membership/refund problems with Anytime Fitness Gungahlin. Just contact the ACT Office of Fair Trading', and you will get refunded IMMEDIATELY.

Fantastic experience: Well equipped gym with friendly and supportive staff.

Negative experience: The staff are awful at responding to email and phone calls. They also do not action cancellation requests and continue to charge you money after verifying on both phone and email that the cancellation has been actioned.

Negative experience: 70 dollars for a key that is not refundable just to get into a gym for a free trial makes it automatically not a free trial in my opinion. The whole process of signing up was way too fast for my comfort and as someone who has never stepped foot in a gym before, I was silly in expecting them to follow up from my call with them in the morning and understand they have to give a brief on what the gym is about, the cost etc before signing me up. Didn't expect them to ask if i have any questions, and after i said no, immediately sign me up... like no. I wasnt told that this was a sign up session on call. I was told my questions would be answered if i go in. I was dumb, I regret, I have learnt and I hope you socially anxious people wouldn't blank out like me and have the inability to walk out of this place the way that I should have.

Negative experience: I requested to cancel my membership about 2 months ago and still no one have cancelled it. They been doing the direct payment from my account since 2 months even after submitting cancellation form. Never ever going back to anytime and will never recommend to any of my friend or family members.

Negative experience: i was going to change from club lime to anytime. went down to the club and asked if i could have a free trial to try out the gym. the girl there said we’d have to pay $25 each, even though it’s clear on the website that you can claim a free trial pass and gungahlin is one of the eligible clubs. also in the T&Cs it says that free trials are offered at AF. casey gave me a free trial… sucks that you guys lied

Negative experience: It’s a great club, however the Club Lime gyms provide much better value for what you get. With a multi membership you have access to better limes around like Gunners plat with a steam room, Mitchell with much more equipment and hibberson with an outdoor area

Fantastic experience: I have been training at AF Gungahlin since January. The club is well provisioned with a great selection of machines, free weights and cardio equipment. The staff are always friendly and greet me upon arrival without fail. I've especially benefited from training with Ulysses. He's been fantastic at understanding my physical disabilities and adapting programs to achieve maximum exertion without aggravating my injuries. His approach to coaching is full of positivity and focused on pushing me to exceed my limits. Sessions quickly become a weekly highlight for me!

Negative experience: Operations manager kicking out regulars because he has a personal problem. My friend wore an old anytime fitness jumper into the gym to which Julian had a problem with and asked her to take it off, she refused and he said she won't be allowed to wear it in anymore. This happens at no other anytime fitness. He states the reason was because people would think she was staff. When I wore my jumper in, I decided to write "not staff" on it, so there would be no logical problem. Upon seeing this he approached me and gave me an ultimatum, take it off or he'll call security and police and have me forcibly removed after cancelling my membership. I complied and took the jumper off. He came back with security regardless, requesting I hand over the jumper, my personal property, to which I obviously refused, in response to this he told me I'm no longer welcome, cancelled my membership and had security remove me. Cancelling a membership over a personal clothing choice (which isn't unsafe) is an illegal beach of contract. Julian has had multiple complains about his behaviour from members about him and still hasn't been removed.

Fantastic experience: I have been absolutely thrilled will my experience at this gym. The equipment is amazing and always clean. The staff are very friendly. All this makes the environment a great experience.

Negative experience: I paid for my membership in advanced and after it ended, they kept on trying to get my money. Got a debt collector for a whole year. When I explained to the debt collector what had happened, the debt collector said the gym was not supposed to keep on trying to charge me and said i had not violated the contract. The debt collector also said if he had known the situation, he would’ve never took on the case as by law, I did not owe anything to the gym. A bunch of garbage people trying to reach into my pocket, harassing me when they know I’ve done nothing wrong.

Negative experience: Really dirty. Broken equipment. Boiling hot. Seems more focused on getting new members than gym maintenance. Worst anytime ive been to. Very disappointing.

Negative experience: Dear potential customers interested in joining, Please Chose another Gym ! I am writing this so you don't end up in the same mess I did. My experience with anytimefitness Gunghalin and my attempts to cancel my membership have been an ongoing nightmare. Despite my best efforts to follow their policies and guidance from their staff, I've tried canceling in-store, sending multiple emails, and making phone calls. However, I still find myself trapped in a cycle of delays. Despite receiving apologies multiple times over the phone, little to no progress has been made, and my emails are mostly ignored or fail to address the subject matter. Resulting in financial losses. Such an experience is entirely different from what I have encountered at other gyms.

Negative experience: Would not recommend this gym at all. They preach they are not like other gyms and care about their members after they join which is a huge lie. They don’t care after they’ve got you locked into a 12 month contract. Sent over 8+ emails to the gym and could not get one response (even asking for replies) The gym itself is super busy, can be quite messy and there is not enough cable attachments to go around most of the time. Would advise to train elsewhere as anywhere else would make you feel more valued than this gym. Also said in writing once to me they only do weekly direct debits and they can’t do fortnightly or monthly - but on their contract it has a tick box for others so they clearly like to lie.

Fantastic experience: This is a great gym. The equipment is modern, it’s always clean, and the staff are friendly. I also like that the clientele is diverse - the place has an overall nice vibe. I go every day at lunchtime when it is a bit quieter. Never have to wait to use anything.
